Where to Eat and Drink on a Day Trip to Boulder City

"With a cool industrial space, plenty of beer on tap, and good food, the Tap is just right for lunch or catching a game. It has all the breakfast staples, plus lunch and dinner dishes like pizza, tacos, nachos, and buffalo poutine with cheese curds." - Agnes Poliquin, Janna Karel

Where to Eat Near Lake Mead National Recreation Area - Eater Vegas

"The hip, upscale but approachable vibes of The Tap make for an inviting dining experience any time of day. Pub fare here is familiar, but creative. Think miso truffle fries, fancy hot dogs (such as a Reuben-style hot dog topped with corned beef and sauerkraut), buffalo poutine, and pork belly tacos. There’s always a rotating selection of craft beer on draft." - Krista Diamond

This is my new favorite spot in Boulder City. We came here after a morning of kayaking in Willow Beach with our dog. We were very hungry and were looking for a dog-friendly restaurant in the area. This was the first place to come up on Yelp, so we decided to come here. It wasn't very busy at 3pm on a Saturday, and we were seated immediately outside by a fan. The fan was a really nice touch considering it was 90+ degrees outside. We got a couple of beers, the runner which was a banana and blueberry (I think) sour for me and a cider for the wife. I'm not usually a sour person but this one hit the spot for me. As for the food, my wife had the meat lovers pizza and I had the shogun burger, both of which were excellent. I also loved their fries; they were very crispy and tasted like freshly cut potatoes and new oil was used. The service was amazing too, our server and a very young gentleman took care of us and frequently checked on us during our meal. The best part is even though they didn’t have a dedicated “dog menu”, our server was kind enough to put an order in for just a hamburger patty with no seasoning for our pup. That is going above and beyond! We will definitely come back here when we are in Boulder City. This is truly my new favorite place.

We stopped by Boulder City on our way back to California and also for visiting Hoover Dam. The Tap was very nice and gave us the good expression about the city and locals. We had the dog traveling with us. So I looked for the restaurant dog friendly. Then we found this place. The manager who has a Yorkshire served us. Super nice guy and very sweet. They had the very good beer selection. We had the fruity sour and cider. The food is also super good. Fries are sooooo crunchy. So nice and definitely will come back one day!

Google
First impression was not strong but Angela provided us with great food choices and service. TV's for sports and sitting outside on a beautiful evening.

After kayaking, Tap is our go to for lunch or dinner. Alyssa was our server today and even though she was by herself was amazing. The food is great and reasonably priced, but this Mediterranean salad is to die for. This bar is such a vibe. Also, it has nice outside seating with misters which we enjoy even on a hot day!

Google
This place is AMAZING! We had just finished a 5hr kayaking trip on the river and we're HUNGRY! We had just left the Southwest Diner because of the bad service. So we just happened upon this great food spot. The moment we walked in Alissa was warm and welcoming. I was indecisive on the beers-so she brought samples. The food was great, the wings with strawberry and jalapeño sauce was incredible. (Coming from a guy that gets wings EVERYWHERE I go!) The beer selection is vast and the service, food and atmosphere are great! We would highly recommend this place and go back!

The bartender was... kinda sweet, but we really didn't need to see her stomach that she showed us to prove that she'd never been fat, she's not anorexic, that she eats enough. Cool. There were other things she talked about(like giving birth to her kid), but I've said enough about that. The food was ok. The fries were battered, so they were nice and crispy. We had the harissa-spiced sliders with fries and yeah, they were good, with an almost nice balance between sweet and savory. The harissa, to me, seems a bit heavy on the cumin, so they tasted like Texas chili burgers. I suppose the harissa mix I use from Morton & Bassett is a bit different, so I could be prejudiced. The decor was nice, with a cool plumbing works-type chandelier in the barroom, with caged bulbs throughout. The bar shelves were very bare. Quite telling. The bars I've tended have always had fully-stocked shelves, but they weren't on their way out. I looked at Google pics here and the shelves were more stocked. Shocking. The menus were disgusting. They needed a bleach wipe, like, yesterday. The bathroom. Oof. I should've taken a picture of the sink. It. Was. Gross. Like there are a few swipes, here and there, by employees who aren't paid enough to care. Had I seen the state of that bathroom, we wouldn't have ordered food there. Hindsight, folks. Crap. Anyway... I like Boulder City, and and we'll be returning to the places we like here. This isn't one of them. I don't like to leave bad reviews, really, but this place deserves it. I'm sorry.

Google
Nice lil spot in Boulder City, service was good they even changed the TV so I can watch nba playoff game. Ordered a passion fruit cider from the bar it was very good so had to have the 2nd one. Food order was the Buffalo Poutine fries with brown gravy, Buffalo chicken, cheese curds, ranch dressing. It a large portion you can share. So good I will come back.

Google
New ownership I believe. Can be very busy at weekends as it's primarily a sports bar. They occasionally have live music and the food is good. They have a large range of beers and the very popular twisted tea. I was very impressed with the ladies serving in the daytime. Very courteous always happy and welcoming.

Yelp
Our tour bus stopped here on the way to Grand Canyon and after our trip coming back from the Grand Canyon. I forgot to take pictures of the inside of this place. If it was not for us going here by our tour bus, I would not know about this place. We got our pack lunch from here. It was a sandwich, chips and water. Our beef sandwich and ham sandwich did not have much meats in them. Not sure how much the tour group paid for the sandwiches, but based on the lack of meat, it should not be much. I am so glad we also brought Vdara market Cafe sandwiches to go prior to getting onto the shuttle.

Yelp
Wow, have things have changed after a year or two away....apparently "The Tap" is on the verge of closure at the end of December...from tonight's experience I can see why...very limited beer selection and food menu on an extremely busy night for the BC Christmas parade....we stopped here a few years ago before the parade and it was PACKED!! Tonight?? We sat on the patio overlooking the Main Street for the entire parade because it was that empty..::sad for sure but apparently it is set to become an Italian restaurant sometime this spring...not sure what happened, change in ownership maybe?? Whatever it was this place has fallen from its previous status...3 stars because of location and the server was okay under the circumstances....maybe the new place will restore this location to its former 4-5 star level....evidently the Tap is now more more focused on tour buses on the way to the Grand Canyon than they are to the daily customer, too bad, it used to be pretty good....PASS

Yelp
My family and I came here on Monday the 19th at noon, The tap has a great happy hour everything is 30 percent off for happy hour, all of the food was good expect the nachos, they ran out of queso so we got shredded cheese and they didn't even melt the cheese but all the other food was good!

Yelp
Driving back from Hoover Dam this place looked like a nice stop for lunch. They have a nice menu, something for everyone and a good beer selection. I had a salmon belly bowl, it was OK, the sauce was a bit sweet for me, but perfectly fine. I was a little confused walking in as I expected (from the YELP pictures) more of a bar / gastropub vibe, there was just a little room to the left with tables and another room to the right - I don't know what that room was for.

Yelp
I've been here a few times while visiting Boulder City, and the last few times were better than this experience. We got in around 7:30 and were promptly informed that we would be the last table they served (even though they close at 9). That was fine, we got some drinks and ordered our food. I had some bloody Marys, and they were pretty standard 5/10. I then had the Shogun burger, which had gruyere cheese and truffle mushrooms. Incredible taste and great combo, but the burger was ever so slightly overcooked 7/10. The star here was the fries. We had the plain fries and the old bay fries, and both were fantastic 9/10. We came here after doing a long hike so all the food was exactly what we needed, and the restaurant was almost entirely empty, hence the earlier closing time, which I completely understand. Definitely worth a visit next time you're in town.

Yelp
We were turned away from The Tap due to an incoming tour bus (even though they were supposed to close 4 hours later; and the tour bus arrived as we were leaving AFTER we had our dinner at Southwest Diner across the street). The place was empty when we arrived for dinner but they wouldn't serve us. Terribly run business. We've eaten here at least 5 times before but won't be back.

Yelp
Traveling though the area once again, stopped last year and had a great experience. Food, service and drinks were fantastic. 2024 no expectations, same great service, food and drinks. We will be back again.

Yelp
This is a great neighborhood pub for watching sports, having some drinks and enjoying a bite. We love having a couple drinks and a late lunch here. The wings are yummy. The burgers are awesome. I do see a lot of people enjoying the salmon bowl but I'm usually looking for comfort food here. I'll try that someday. The bartenders/servers are always friendly and welcoming and it's always a good time here. If you're passing through town, go have a beer. It's kid friendly as well. Lovely patio seating to watch cool cars drive by while enjoying a bite.

Yelp
Service was good and ambiance was nice. Some food options are great and others not so much. We ordered Thai chicken salad, Salmon bowl, shrimp basket, and the kids build a pizza . Thai chicken salad was delicious and the salmon bowl was good. we didn't like the shrimp basket and chicken on kids pizza was chewy.

Yelp
TAP is now contracted with a Grand Canyon bus line company to serve 5 bus arrivals their meals leaving practically no service or attention to any local patrons -- Won't be going back, crossed off BC list of restaurant options. We were sitting comfortably while watching a golden knights game then all of a sudden there was a line of about 40 people lining up from the bar room to the back room!

Yelp
Came in last night about a hour and half before closing and had an okay experience. Our bartender was nice but his coworkers were loudly complaining about how they're closing the kitchen and don't want to be working which surprised my friend and I since there was only two other groups of customers and the bar was relatively slow. Fries Avacado carne asada tacos were great! The meat was seasoned well and full of a lot of flavor. We ordered the chips and gauc but they were out of guac so they gave us salsa and queso. The salsa and queso weren't very good but the chips were amazing! Weird combination of great chips but not-so-great dips. I would recommend coming to this place just for beer!

Yelp
My daughter and I like to go to Boulder City from Las Vegas to just have a little outing. It was really good food, great service and I got to have my dog with me which always makes a place better.

Yelp
So glad we stopped by before heading to Hoover Dam. Great selection of beer and kombucha. Bartender was super nice and attentive. I'm glad he got us to taste the Cali Squeeze, I appreciate a non-winter brew. Fried Avocado tacos were delicious and just the perfect bite. The Buffalo Chicken Poutine was very tasty. No need to get the gravy on the side because the fries were sooo cripsy and perfect. The only thing I would want more on the dish would be cheese curds.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was great and Robert is such a great bar tender. I would go back just to have him has my bar tender. He knows his stuff and you let him be himself and you're going to get great food and drinks.

Yelp
I HATE writing bad reviews. Went there yesterday and was with other family members. I asked for recommendations about what to order. What was recommended... the delicious bone marrow smoked grilled cheese. I tried to returning it but the waitress returned it with my bitemark out of it (which was mine). It was the driest croton fake cheese sandwich. No one was listening.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped here on our way back to Vegas after visiting the Hoover Dam. The service, food and prices were all outstanding. This was definitely the best place we ate at in our 3 nights in Vegas! It wasn't busy so we chatted with our server for a while and really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back if we're in the area again.
google avatar

Yelp
I just ordered from the top through Grubhub. I have special instructions for the salad that I ordered. Do you have the salad dressing on the side? Obviously these people don't pay attention because the salad dressing came on my salad. I feel that six dollars for a 16 ounce. Pepsi is way out of lineand for a salad that's $16 you think you get a salad worth $16 I'll never order them again. This is ridiculous. I should be paying five dollars for the size salad they sent me.

Yelp
Thank you so much to our waitress. We called to make a reservation from SoCal for after a funeral service. She called us the day of to confirm and also to tell us that she took the liberty to put some flowers on the table. Arrangements were beautiful and very thoughtful. The food was amazing, we tried the nachos, the artichokes, the bacon wrapped asparagus, pizza and wings. Everything was amazing and very well taken care of. Thank you again for making this easy on us during tough times.

Yelp
So a few weeks ago we came with a few friends and decided to try dinner, I was so thrilled at the food when it came first, just the presentation, which was amazingly done, and the flavors were like so good with almost make your eyes roll back in your head, delicious and at the time no I did not get a picture I was too busy diving in. It was beautiful and tasted phenomenal must've been a month later however that we were having beer at Jacks Place and a few of the friends wanted to eat there. However, I told my husband that I cannot get the dinner that I had weeks before at The Tap and I really wanted that salmon dinner again so we walked down to The Tap , we got there about 10 till seven waited for the waitress to bring us our beer somewhat probably 10 minutes and then gave our order for our food around 720. She said she would check to see if the food was being prepared and came back and told us that yes it was, which gave us some hope of eating some time in the night, and therefore we waited, another 30 minutes or so went by and again we get told that the food was being prepared I think the breaking point was around 820 when we were told the food was being prepared or just being put on that I finally said no that's it. We are out of here, at this point the following day I tried to reach out to the corporation are the owner Tony, who is a wonderful kind guy right away, called me back and after looking at the video and explaining the situation asked if that we would please come back and try the food again. Well we did and we were not disappointed. The food was above and beyond, so delicious we love the potential for a great ambience so much potential and the people are so kind. I love the waitress she's very knowledgeable on drinks and that was very impressive. I'm glad that we came back and I really truly truly hope that this wonderful place with wonderful people make it in Boulder city. I hope they end up using all the access that they have with all the wonderful views that are available to them not only on the second floor, but as well on the third floor oh my gosh it's so crazy. The potential is way out there. I hope that they really do succeed.i

Yelp
Staying at nearby Lake Mead and went into Boulder City (BC) looking for a place to grab a bite and brew and watch some football. Had a few choices but decided to give the Tap a try. Good selection of beer, interesting menu and AWESOME staff. Was surprised that it was part of a local motel but some of the best places are. It had a small but nice outdoor patio with a view of downtown BC and several TVs. Opted to go in and found an empty table against the back wall. Decor was industrial theme but comfortable. Two large screen were on the wall behind the bar and easy to view. We were quickly greeted by Victor who took our drink order and provided menus. We tried the ichy IPA (a solid ipa choice), the Sam adams winter lager, and Victor's recommendation (a lightly sweet winner) the Cali Squeeze Blood Orange Hef. Started the game with the carne nachos. They came with an abundance of queso plus a side of sour cream and fresh guac. The carne had a bit of a sweet glaze that was different from what I expected. During the second have of our game we ordered the Thai chicken salad that was amazing. It came with extra dressing but the salad was perfect as served. But the highlight of our visit was watching the staff (Jake and Victor) interact with the customers. There were some regulars, a "morning after" wedding(?) party, and a couple of families. They attended to all like long lost friends. At one point a family with a young boy called down for a table and when they arrived Victor provided them menus then disappeared only to comeback with a paper place mat and set of crayons for the young man to entertain himself. Come to find out it was Victor's first night as the new bartender. Well done sir well done.

Yelp
What a great little find today!! We are in for a conference and found the "Tap" online and decided to give them a try! We were not disappointed. We chose to eat outside on the deck and started with a drink. The IPA on tap was excellent and my partner had the twisted tea. We decided on a single meat lovers pizza and cheese nachos, both were very good. Service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!!

Yelp
CALL BEFORE YOU GO!!!!!!! Yelp and Maps both showed that this pace was open, upon showing up "kitchen was closed" - such a shame and I love their food but if they can't keep up with hours like they POST ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SAY OPEN. I'm upset. Won't be back because of this I drive FAR for them. What a shame. Call before you try.

Nidia F.

Yelp
Service was great. One bartender/server today (6/8/2024) and she did a great job. Food was good too.

Yelp
What the heck happened here????? Generally, we go to Lake Mead 4-5 times per year, and The Tap is in our dinner rotation. Eight of us went in for dinner on Sunday night, Memorial Day weekend at 7:45. This was a 180 degree turn from my prior experiences here. Service was awful. It appeared there was only one server/bartender/busser for the restaurant. I never saw another employee, just the one girl. She was aloof, probably overwhelmed. Our food took forever, and came out in stages (two people didn't get their meals until the other six of us had finished ours- yes, they urged us to eat, we were trying to wait until all eight meals came, but it became apparent that wasn't gonna happen). The food, well, not great. Not really good either. Not sure what happened there- we had a cheesesteak sandwich, burgers, burritos and all of them were below average. Personally, I only had chips and guac, and that was actually excellent. Condiments, the table had none, and since the waitress never came back around, I went searching for salt, pepper, ranch, mustard, ketchup, etc. I found a waitress station off of the bar and had to fend for myself. Drinks, well, we received one round, but were never offered a second round. Overall, very disappointing considering the level of service and food only a while back. Four more lake trips planned this summer, so we'll see if The Tap remains in the rotation.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Awful service and food. Never again. Stopped for late lunch about 1:30...only one table of two was occupied. Took the waitress forever to ask us for a drink order and the lousy food took forever to come out. Worst burger I've ever had.

Tamara H.

Yelp
I guess third time is a charm. Much better service, the food was delicious and we actually felt welcomed. Ok "The Tap" keep it up and I will be back!
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Call me a repeat offender! This place is soo good we left Lake Havasu to have dinner/drinks here (again). This time they were slammed with tables. I mention how busy they were because they still knocked the service and food out of the park. So speedy! Brandi - pleasure meeting you! Way to hire Jake 'the sweatpants' machine. Keep up the personable service!
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
This is one of our go to places when we are in Boulder City. The staff is awesome, the beer choices great and so is the food. I like the outside seating the best.
google avatar

Deborah K.

Yelp
Came here to support a friend for open mic! The drinks aren't particularly great BUT WHAT A VIBE!!!!!! I want to order food the next time I come!! Everybody is incredibly talented and supportive. This is exactly what our city needs. I was so happy to discover this place! Also! My toy poodle was super welcome to the party. Thank you!!!
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Service sucks ..... so not go in when buses are showing up cause they take priority. Food is crap . I use to go in all the time before the new owners took over . I will Not return

Brian B.

Yelp
Ate here as a stop on Grand Canyon tour and it was included as a breakfast and dinner stop. By the quality of the food there is clearly a business connection between the tour company and this establishment. I had a breakfast and a dinner and I was quite unimpressed with the food, the decor or the establishment, and the service. I would not recommend.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Just an okay place. We only had miso fried and a few drinks but atmosphere is blah and the service was not outstanding. Pretty good selection of beers. Does have a patio that might help with atmosphere if weather is nice.

Cindy R.

Yelp
One week ago we went on Saturday night. We ordered beer and wine and waited over 15 minutes. Ordered dinner and at least 20 minutes later no word from server and no food. After taking a few minutes to find the server to inquire about food he said there was only one cook and it would take a bit longer. After 15 minutes we left and went to the brew pub. While at brew pub a couple came that we talked to at the Tap and they had waited an hour without getting any food. Not sure how things can go so wrong!
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
The barmaid was a snot and the nachos had cheese wiz. We're only giving her $2 if that sends a message. And no napkins or setups. I got paper towels from the restroom. Terribly disappointed. I've never had such poor service there.
google avatar

Angie W.

Yelp
The tap is a gem in Boulder City!! us locals understand what the tap is all about. I already love the tap, but the new owners are making it amazing. I love the new chicken wings. However, I wish they would go a slightly hotter than their hottest. I love the salads all of the pizza. We love the nachos , so I can go on and on !! happy hour is a blessing. I don't know why we don't spend more time down here but I think we will because during the Christmas parade we had the best seats in the house and jeez we didn't have to pay extra for that.!!!
google avatar

Barry G.

Yelp
Great Gastro pub. Parking nearby if you can, adjacent to popular motel. Great beer list and wonderful staff.

Tim S.

Yelp
We were the only customers in the place when the restaurants nearby were busy, this should've been the first red flag. The cheese on the nachos was cold, the pizza seemed more like a frozen pizza and there was something off with the wings. Nothing about the place makes me want to try it again. Sad because the location is great.

Marian R.

Yelp
Fries were terribly salty. I asked for medium rare burger and received not well done, but congratulations. The burger was overcooked and dry. I wouldn't come back. The aesthetic is nice tho. Miso sauce is good too
google avatar

Yelp
And first I'd like to thank... If it wasn't for Yelp, we wouldn't have known this restaurant (in the Best Western hotel) was so wonderful. And if it wasn't for Brittany's adoring review (gave me the necessary nudge), we may have went to my "usual" spot! And we would never have met Wayne and Margaret (also locals) and our fabulous server Jamie. And just when you think it can't get better...bam!! The food was delicious! I had the salmon bowl served with asparagus, wild rice medley with greens, artichokes, tomatoes and a delicious tomato-ey sauce on the side. My partner had the French dip with crispy, flavorful fries. I ordered an apple cider mixed with acai kombucha (my own concoction 2:1 ratio). Hey if it catches on...please send the royalties my way! Everything was delicious and satisfying and the venue was simple, nice, clean and welcoming! Great for a Saturday date with my sweetheart! All in all...even though the appearance from the street doesn't grab your attention, this place IS one that deserves to be recognized!

Scott J.

Yelp
Just went in and there was one employee (girl) texting on her phone, I've never been but looking at the menu/pictures it looked good. I walked in and said hello and got no reply as she kept texting. I waited and even walked around to the other side and no one around, I walked back to where she was and she walked away so I left and went to southwest diner for lunch. Their loss and no need to go back.

Tanya L.

Yelp
Downhill since Grant sold it. I went with a friend and bartender- the only employee in there- at 6pm on a Thursday ignored me and my guest. After 15 min she turned to me and said "it's a golden knights game, they're showing the game and they're empty". We walked to another bar. I don't care how good your menu is, if your bartenders are too busy talking to friends then to take a drink and food order- why bother? Doors will close soon - probably only business is coming from the tour busses where people don't get to see the crappy service being offered.

Shanelle L.

Yelp
Co-Worker and I went to Tap for dinner after work. Waited 20 minutes to be served water and was told that we had to wait another 30 minutes to even put in an order. Hostess/Bartendar could have told us that when we walked in and sat down.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
One of our favorite local spots to go to! Great service and friendly atmosphere with the best employees, especially Jacob who always makes us feel welcomed! They are going through a change, but still offer superior service, even with a limited menu! So looking forward to the changes on the menu and can't wait for the 2nd floor restaurant to open!! Give them try and guarantee you will enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the many beers on tap!!! Enjoy

Yelp
I don't eat out much since trying to go vegan, but my daughter & SIL were visiting, and this is their fav. There were several options within my parameters, but 'the kids' pointed out the salmon bowl, remembering how much I have always loved it. Everything else listed looked great (bed of ancient grains, sun-dried tomatoes, asparagus) and well, salmon IS on the list of the most healthy, aniti-inflammatory foods, so I went for it. Wow! It came with a chunky tangy side dressing that added a whole new twist to everything too. I was only going to 'try' the salmon but you know how that goes... I did end up taking home half and enjoyed it on a fresh salad. About a week later, I went back with a friend and ordered the same. We landed on karaoke night, which was fun accident and kept us lingering longer.

Yelp
Best fry's in town!!! Food was good, but fry's are great. Very friendly bartender. Fun time.

Yelp
Decent beer selection and decent bar food, this place is "charming-but-divey." Burgers and fries were good.

Yelp
We stopped by The Tap on our way back to Henderson. We wanted something light, but not too heavy to eat. The salads here are excellent. Very fresh with just enough mixed greens and other ingredients. Well executed. We'll be back again for the large salads. Service by the young lady behind the bar was great as well.

Yelp
Can you leave "0" stars? If you could, I would. We sat down and waited maybe 10 minutes for a young kid to come around and ask if we would like menus and water. Stop there. Nothing happened after that... The same kid came and took an order from one table and delivered food to another. No one ever stopped back by our table until we got up to leave 45 minutes later. Maybe they have good food...I personally will never know.
