The Tasting Room of Travelers Rest

What a wonderful experience. We met the owner who was very informative about wines and more. She does travel experiences for her members and gave us great insights on wines from Spain, which we all enjoyed.

We love this place. This and Community Tap are our mainstays. Quieter and more intimate place than the Community Tap though. Kinda like a bottle shop. Staff is awesome. Beer prices are pretty reasonable and the selection is great. You can bring outside food. We haven't really drank wine there but the selection seems awesome. And they're dog friendly! We're headed there tonight actually haha

A peaceful place to relax and enjoy great drinks. Featured flight is a fun way to explore new wine or beer flavors. The friendly small town feel is very special, one of our favorite date night destinations, with carry out from one of the crowded TR places. And Friday night are extra special at The Tasting Room!

Top Notch Place, classy, elegant, great environment for a date night or just a casual beer. Highly recommend. Clean restrooms, live music, and good fun!

A really nice place for a drink! It's mostly a wine bar, with some bottled, canned and local draft beer. It has a bit of an industrial meets nature design. Two non-gender restrooms are clean. The employees were all welcoming and friendly. The bottled wine is a bit over-priced vs other retail establishments, but the glasses were reasonably priced. I enjoyed my glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. There is plenty of room to spread out both inside and outside. It's quite a little gem. We would recommend it, and we would return.

A cute place to grab a drink! We were walking around Travelers Rest and thankfully they had plenty of signage on the road to make it easy to find down the alley way/walkway. It definitely feels more like a wine bar than necessarily beer. They had a few beers on draft and they were different beers than what you typically find which was nice. They have many options for wine by the glass. They have a variety of seating options, we grabbed a table and hung out. They have a private room as well. The bartender who helped us was super nice and friendly. He offered suggestions and offered us to taste anything we were interested in. Would def return for wine!

A friend invited me here at the end of October so catch up over some beer. Sadly, I was not impressed - at all. There were not many tap beers to choose from. I'd say it's more likely a place for wine drinkers to sip different varietals. The ambience was also lacking. It felt pretty cold and austere. Finally, service was just meh. The two guys behind the counter seemed more interested in chatting with one fellow than serving me and my friend. So, bottom line, I would not return here given there are superior options nearby.

Our first visit to The Tasting Room, but won't be the last! Tasted delicious wines and bought 2 bottles to enjoy at home. Great ambiance and we even met the new owner, Michelle & her husband, Mike. Nice people! Can't wait to go back.

Although the Tasting Room was closed, the owner took the time to let us in and spent 20 minutes at least with us explaining the different types of wines she offered. She was beyond knowledgeable about wines and such a wonderful teacher. She just made our day!

Great little spot in TR. The Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout and Tangerine Cream Ale were great. Nice patio out back.

The tasting room is ideal for what it is, a small beer and wine shop that allows you the opportunity to drink it on their premises. The place is small, so don't expect to bring in the entire football team and be comfortable. They have two beers on draft, which will rotate pretty normally. They have some cheese and cracker type items for serving and have wine flights for those who want to try their hand at several different wine flavors. The gentleman running the place was very courteous and energetic. And I really liked the music playing In the background, seems like it was a lot of Frank Sinatra and Rat Pack, that always brightens the mood. There is a nice small patio out front that lets you sit yourself almost on top of the sidewalk and enjoy the outdoors and downtown area. My biggest suggestion, or mild gripe, would be for the tasting room to invest in lounge chairs, couches or at least some more comfortable or visually pleasing tables and chairs. Ultimately, the blandness of the seating arrangements are the biggest downfall. Perhaps with a little growth of the business they will move forward with the furniture. But understand that this is not a restaurant or a bar, but instead Travelers Rest's tasting room.

Travelers Rest once again has a place that knocks it out of the park ! Wine , by the bottle or glass and beer on tap or lots of bottles to choose from . I was so impressed. It's such a cute place . They have cheeses and crackers as well . Get the garlic spread , seriously good . We spent about 2 hours just talking and enjoying but as we were leaving it was getting busy . Definitely a date night place , or a girls night out hang out . I can definitely see this being a great place to get a gift . If you like wine or beer , try it !

Sweet tasting room in Travelers Rest with plenty of seating from the bar area to custom wine barrel tables. There were also outside options for seating with string lights to set the mood. Flights of beer or wine, as well as by the glass or bottle were options on the menu. There were also charcuterie items and local chocolate for sale, although we did not try these. The atmosphere is very casual, and the staff was very friendly. Pro tip- at the end of the bar, there is a canister of pretzel nuggets that you can dispense yourself!! Great, hygienic idea!

We have been here twice and look forward to coming back at more times in the future. They have a great selection of wine to drink and to take home. This is a great alternative to the mega wine stores where you can find something reasonable priced and potentially a wine that another store does not carry. Support your local business

My wife and I have been here several times, sometimes with friends and sometimes alone. It's a comfortable, cool place to hang out, especially on the porch (the indoor furniture is drab and uncomfortable). As other reviewers have written, the owner is very warm and welcoming and has great knowledge of the extensive supply of beer and wine he sells and serves. My only quibble is the with $5 "corking fee," which seems excessive (after all, they don't charge to open a bottle of beer and pour it into a glass) and a bit discouraging. I'd think the owners would wish to encourage their customers to sit, talk and enjoy their wine rather than charge for the privilege. Overall though, this is a welcome addition to the growing, eclectic TR downtown.

When I was young, we used to give Travelers Rest (TR) such hell and now here I am loving what TR has been doing to make the area such a cool place. The Tasting Room is such a neat nook nestled by some other restaurants. Great selection of wines and beer, great & extremely knowledgeable staff (which may have been the owners,) and just an extremely cool decor & porch area to make you want to sit and stay a bit. Do go by and take a load off...it's getting warmer so enjoy it!

What a wonderful place. Great wines and a great selection of craft beers. Makes hubby and I both happy! Definitely worth the drive to TR.

One of the best places to enjoy wine. I love meeting friends here for an afternoon. Great deck outside. Also amazing variety of ciders, sours, and beers.

I visited The Tasting Room this past weekend and it was a great experience. Employees were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. There was a great wine and beer selection, and though I didn't order any food, they serve cheeses and charcuterie platters that I definitely want to partake in on a future visit. Additionally, prices are extremely affordable as bars in Travelers Rest go. The location is small but they have a couple of tables, a small retail section, and even a few games for patrons to play if they want to hang out for a while. The music they were playing was quality and at the perfect volume level. All in all, a great experience from beginning to end. I highly suggest this as a stop if you're in Travelers Rest...especially if you're winding down from a hike or bike ride or something along those lines.

Great wine bar with a wonderful selection, very helpful / friendly staff, and tons of outdoor seating. A must visit next time you're in Travelers Rest.

OMG WHY O WHY didn't I BUY A CASE of Brachetto d'Acqui when I had the chance?! =:O LOL! Hey: 10% Case Discount, kids - remember that next time you go in. While they didn't have White Zinfandel (which I love = a slightly sweet white wine), the nice owner/manager/whoever-he-was turned me onto Branchetto d'Acqui 2016 - a sweet red wine that SPARKLES = evun bettuh! It's only 5.5% alcohol & tastes very much like the virgin cranberry/pomegranate sparkling concoctions that I like to make during the winter holidays (from a very famous juice brand) - minus the alcohol - so you know it's not very strong. The store itself is very well-organized, spotlessly clean & also has a nice selection of craft beers at reasonable prices for the quality you're getting. There is a small bar/tasting area, but I didn't avail myself of it since I was traveling. I will definitely be back, though. I didn't realize Travelers Rest is such a cute little town with higher-end touristy attractions, since I was usually just zooming by on the highway - intent on nothing but reaching my destination. Now I will definitely pencil in TR (Travelers Rest) & TR (the Tasting Room) on my short list of must-see places while in South Carolina.

I really enjoyed talking and learning about wine. When that was done I chose the perfect one and decided to try there cheese and crackers. A very delicious variety to choose from. I then sat there and relaxed while I enjoyed my wine. When you come to Travelers Rest please stop in and enjoy a glass or a bottle.

We've allowed Evan to guide us thru our wine search...it's fun cause he is NOT condescending or snotty about wine and answers all my dumb questions without snickering! We have gotten wine on his recommendation that had been wonderful and works with what we eat! All y'all need to get to this fantastic venue before it becomes overrun! Love this place!

Amazing wine, fair prices, and excellent service. Honestly I am reconsidering posting this so that I don't give this place away. But, the owners have always been so great I want them to be successful.

This place has great atmosphere, great selection of beer and wine, and great service. We come here every time we visit Greenville and it always leaves us with a smile.

The Tasting Room is one of my all time favorite spots. We try and go once a week - we always start by trying the flight of the week before selecting a glass or two to enjoy. You can't go wrong sampling 3 wines of the week for $6 (or create your own flight for $8). We've also gone to many of the tasting events featuring different wineries. There is a great selection and Evan is always helpful when you're not sure what to get - let him know what you like and he will find something that is perfect for you. There is also a great selection in terms of price - can get lower, moderate price, and more expensive bottles. Also can get things ordered. Great to sit out front in the summer and enjoy a drink looking at downtown TR. Can't say enough wonderful things about the Tasting Room!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Tasting Room! It's got a fabulous location near the Swamp Rabbit Trail and some tasty restaurants. The seating is great, whatever the season -- in warm weather, the back porch is comfortable and perfect for relaxing, and in cold weather, the fireside lounge is perfect for warming up! Evan knows wine inside and out and can recommend the perfect wine for you, whatever taste you prefer. (One of my faves is Pessimist -- strong recommend!) Plus, there's a great beer selection, too! I don't live in town, so it's always a treat for me to visit the Tasting Room, and I ALWAYS make time for it when I'm back home in western NC.

Evan has a superb knowledge of wines and beers. The happy hour house red is superior to many "excellent " wines I've had. Even the tap beers are fabulous. The staff is always cordial and I have never had a wine I didn't like. I recommend without reservation!
