Bars like Tatarian get me excited about the cocktail world.
The hidden gem in the heart of Tennyson is easy to walk passed. One might not have a clue the level of phenomenal drinks being produced between 5pm and 2am every night of the week.
The bartenders are artists, lifelike magicians firing on all cylinders. Stiff and smokey drinks, homages to tiki culture, or variations on the classics can all be found here. And if none of those are your cup of tea, they'll ask you what your preferences are and whip up something on the fly.
Árbol del Tule - Mezcal, Coffee Liqueur, Liquor 43, Montenegro, Demerara, Hellfire Shrub, Angostura Bitters. The inspiration comes from a meaningful tree at Oaxaca's famous church grounds.
I'm pretty sure this is me in cocktail form. Smokey, rich, sweet, spicy and deep. With a boatload of intense flavor profiles, I was rather impressed how all the ingredients played off of each other. An exquisite cocktail for my tastebuds!
All in all, the bartenders were friendly and put on a quite a show. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, I can't imagine anyone being left disappointed. The 5-star reviews couldn't be more deserving. Hell, they even pour you a glass of water when you take a seat. Talk about hospitality professionals!
