Checked out this small cocktail bar in Tennyson. The drinks were decent, but nothing super memorable. It's a fine place to grab a drink, and I'd probably stop by again if I'm already in the area.

We were there on 3/25 around 5:30. I tried their Bartek gin cocktail and it was excellent. We will return . Original: This is a really cool high end cocktail bar; however it would be so much better if they had good service. We felt they sacrificed service over making really cool craft drinks . No harm in being friendly and thinking of your patrons over your product or at least testing them equal.

This place has amazing cocktails and incredibly lovely bartenders. Autumn and Josh were a highlight of my recent trip to Colorado -- ranking up there with Rocky Mountain views. Some of the best cocktails I've ever had. The menu was extremely creative with each cocktail being named for a tree including a picture and fun facts about the trees too. The atmosphere was great and the staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back to try more fun cocktails.

The perfect local cocktail bar. Everything is tree themed (including the name Tatarian, which is named after a local tree). Creative and delicious cocktails, knowledgeable staff, great music and ambiance. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Gosh, I wish I lived close enough to be a regular here! The drinks are impeccable - you truly can't miss with whichever option you choose. There is an extensive, beautiful book with detailed descriptions of each drink as well as the tree that inspires it. The staff was super friendly and the aesthetic was calming, dimly-lit, and the perfect ambiance for socializing (low music but loud enough that you could hold an intimate convo). As someone who has a strong pull toward trees, this pit stop on my way back to South Denver was very much enjoyed! I can't wait to come back.

This bar does not have a sign out front so you have to really look for it. It has a sleek and modern interior. The bar staff will direct you to seats. They run an efficient shop. When it's busy it may take a while, but the service is on point and they will take good care of you. For the lay person and unsophisticated consumer (like myself) their drink menu consists of complex strings of indecipherable words. Better to ask the bartender for a recommendation. Perhaps one day someone will invent a sniff menu for drinks. My friend and I had a good time catching up here, though it got loud! There seems to be a decent turnover throughout the night so you probably won't wait tooo long for a spot. My drink was gooooood. Miami prices.

The Tatarian is a great cocktail bar in the Berkely neighborhood in Denver. It's a cool, elevated neighborhood joint that knows their craft. It's an intimate and welcoming space that instantly shows you they know their stuff. Especially because of the amazing smoky smell in the air from their love of smoking cocktails. What's better than that?? The story behind the name is really cool. Before the turn of the century, each new land owner who bought property in the neighborhood was gifted a shade tree from the city. The tree that thrived most in the neighborhood was the maple tree, specifically the Tatarian variety. Hence the name. The cocktail menu is one of the most beautiful menu books I've ever seen in any restaurant or bar. The artwork is extraordinary. Sadly, I didn't think to take any photos to show it off except one recipe page and the cover. Trust me, it's special!! The cocktail shown in the photo was delicious. The Blackjack is Rye whiskey, Islay scotch, Benedictine, Amaro Nonino, Chocolate bitters. It was a beautiful spin on an Old Fashioned. Next time you're in Denver you should check them out. You won't be disappointed. Salute.

Amazingly cultivated cocktails in an hip, dark, yet comfortable vibe. You're here for the cocktails, so don't do gettin' a vodka soda. Bartenders are friendly, professional and talented. I also can't believe I'm saying this - but the cocktails are reasonably priced, aka $15-19. You pay for the vibe, the glassware, the ice, the menu and the talent - but it's all worth it.

This is such a cozy little "hidden" bar in the Tennyson area. The staff seems to be friendly and knowledgable and the drinks are delightful. I highly recommend this for a great cocktail - drinks are a little pricy but right on target for a bar of this caliber. I've visited both on the weekend and on a weekday night and I recommend a week night for a quieter vibe. It's a smaller space and can fill up quickly on the weekend!

Menu looks amazing and we have passed this place a lot so we were so excited to try it! We decided to go for our 2 year anniversary before dinner. We got there and were asked for our IDs which we happily provided as we are both over 25. My boyfriend is from North Carolina and has a vertical ID which they apparently have a policy not to accept. They wouldn't even look at his Id because it was vertical?? We tried to show them photos of his passport but they wouldn't even look at it. Such a bummer on a special day. Wish this was on their website or something. Edit following response from manager: I understand the that that's applicable to Colorado IDs but his ID was issued by North Carolina which you guys wouldn't know because you refused to even look at it. There are no Colorado policies requiring places to deny service because of an out of state vertical ID, and we actually have never encountered this problem over the two years we have lived here so I'm not sure what other places you are referring to, that do this as well. Y'all did a great job at protecting your establishment and patrons from two 25 year olds drinking on their anniversary! Congrats

Okay yes!!! This place had the cutest decor and is such a vibe. The cocktails are so unique it was hard to choose one. I tried a couple and I definitely recommend this place if you like a strong spirit forward cocktail. The service was incredible and quick. These bartenders are knowledgeable and talented. It is a very small area so not good for more than a group of 3-4 at very max but recommend it for a cute date

Woman led, amazing cocktails, great ambiance. I don't think I need to say any more? Stopped in without a reservation one night and sat at the bar no problem. Their menu is fairly large so we got help picking out some cocktails and tried multiple on the menu. All were super unique and creative. Bartenders are super cool to talk to and we loved the design of the space.

One of my favorite cocktail bars in Denver! It's nestled in between storefronts along Tennyson Street in north Denver, easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but what a special place. They have some of the most original cocktail creations around and the bartenders also fix up the standards with pizzazz and skill. Cozy, intimate, sometimes dark, and often full. You might need to keep trying to get in, or wait. But it's definitely worth it! We sat the bar and had a nice chat with our mixologist.

Came here during vacation and the ambiance was AMAZING! Around 7pm they dimmed the lights and I felt like I was transported into another world. Decor is beautiful drinks are balanced and tasteful and the service is impeccable! Derrick was our bartender was amazing social gave great recommendations and gave me a wonderful dealers choice mezcal!

Tatarian is the best cocktail bar in Denver, in terms of ambience, service and drinks. Our party of four went to celebrate a birthday. I looked at the menu before we got there but as always am super indecisive so could not make up my mind! Our server was super nice and recommended the Giant Sequoia which was delicious. My husband got the Daqal, which he said rivals one of the best cocktails he's ever had! We were having such a good time that we ordered a second round. I got the Kapok, which was a tiki style drink made with Irish whiskey. I personally don't love Irish whiskey but couldn't even tell that was the alcohol in the drink - it was so delicious and aromatic! Would 5/5 recommend this spot.

I've lived in Chicago for nearly six years, and just across the river from NYC before that. It is absolutely remarkable how many excellent cocktail places are in such a short distance in Denver. Tatarian is another really good spot, a great neighborhood cocktail bar specializing in "tree inspired" drinks. It's almost always very busy, but even on a Saturday night you won't need to wait too long for a spot. A unique cocktail list is the thing here, from seasonal offerings to their rotating cast. The Senator was unlike anything I'd had, perhaps a bit too heavy on the syrup, but an enjoyable, unique experience. The ambience is nice as well, though it can be cramped depending on where you are. Lovely staff and great drinks at very reasonable prices!

I have been here at least 4 times. It is usually my go to cocktail lounge for out of town guests. Everyone I have brought here has enjoyed their experience. The cocktails are unique, they offer amazing Mock tails as well and the staff is friendly, welcoming and always try's to accommodate since it is a small place.

Truly a delightful spot! Each drink we tried was better than the next. Very inventive, and the bartenders were kind enough to answer a few questions we had about different ingredients (it hadn't picked up for the evening yet). Street parking is limited and the internal space is ~cozy~, so make a reservation if possible. It's perfect for a date or very small group.

Cool space, friendly staff, and fantastic cocktail menu. We arrived around 5:30, and staff were kind enough to take a drink order while we stood up front waiting for space to clear. While many cocktails in Denver are hitting the $15+ price, they're worth it here. Creative, innovative, and delicious. I wanted to try every cocktail I saw them make (gorgeous glassware too). And I wish I had the counter space for their cool smoker! The space is modern but still pretty comfortable, and you're surrounded by fantastic dining options for your post-cocktail outing. Props for keeping the water glasses filled for the entire hour plus we were there! That's a must in Denver, and greatly appreciated. Highly recommended!

Super cool vibe with great drinks! I love to see the 20+ specialty syrups right there on the counter! There's lots of unique ingredients and a perfect place to relax and sip!

This local bar is a gem in this neighborhood. Creative cocktails with an amazing and impressively kind staff. I've always felt welcomed and safe as a queer femme in this space. I especially love that they allow their staff to express themselves freely. Keep up the great work!!

Really upset coming to a bar for an overpriced drink and being hit with the employees political views. The "all are welcome" sign on the door doesn't actually mean all, based on the bartenders political buttons. If you openly deny someone's right to exist? There's no reason to come back.

Much better experience the second time around! I was leery to try again after our not so great first experience years ago but our friend was really wanting an espresso martini, so we decided to give it a shot. Beautifully designed bar, friendly staff this go around (yay) and delicious drinks!

This place is almost like a speakeasy, you won't even know there's a cocktail bar hidden on tennyson! So low-key, intimate yet upscale - love this combination! I love how they have so many plants indoors, adds to the warmth! I really liked the baobab.. so much that I ordered a repeat! Husband had the kapok and pisco sour! Our server was so friendly and so gorgeous - I was crushing.. husband was almost jealous lol! Definitely one of my fav cocktails in Denver so far ! Cocktail lovers please visit this place already!

Awesome cocktail bar in Denver! We tried the kapok and alstadt. Both were wonderful and had such unique flavors. We really enjoyed the service and sitting at the bar! We got there pretty early into the night and it wasn't crowded yet. Can't wait to go back again!

This is a cocktail bar for cocktail lovers! The drinks I ordered were definitely booze-forward. In regard to COVID precautions, they have hand sanitizing stations at every table, staff are wearing masks, and there are QR codes to view the menu. The menu was very large! They had a large selection of regular cocktails on the menu and then a sizable selection of rotating seasonal cocktails. Most of the seating consists of the long bar but there are a few tables and chairs. This is definitely the place to talk to your server/bartender and have them recommend cocktails for your individual tastebuds!

This is as good as any excellent cocktail bar that I've been to, and I am so lucky that I live walking distance from it! I must have walked past it so many times during the day without noticing it, but glad it came up on my radar in a search I did. My husband and I tried The Tartarian and Blackjack for our first round of drinks, as we are both Old Fashioned and Manhattan lovers. Both were great, though the Blackjack was a bit sweeter than I expected, but still a solid drink. For our second round, we tried Dragon's Blood and Camellia, which are both warm and tea-based drinks. Such wonderful drinks to end the night on. Seating is somewhat limited so reservations on busier nights are always recommended just in case.

Katie was and is an excellent server/barkeep. We walked in per Chad's suggestion! Yes, the same Chad next door at Lucy's! The bar was super cozy and cute! We were seated right away and told that the menu was mobile once we scanned the QR code. We opted to sit down and order the Altstadt and Giant Sequoia. These drinks are quite different and refreshing! What caught my attention was the use of Sour Cherry Gin! The mixture with Raspberry Syrup left me wanting more! This is a good thing! The Cachaça and Grapefruit Thyme Syrup was good in the Giant Sequoia!!!! Definitely a great spot to go to! Thank you so much for your time and assistance!

Right off the bat I was uncomfortable with how tiny and packed the place was, but sometimes these kinds of places are the best places to go to if you want quality stuff. Our bartender was extremely kind and as busy as she was making drinks for a whole bunch of people, she constantly checked up on us to make sure we were satisfied. The drinks are so unique and my boyfriend had a blast reading about the extensive information and history about the drinks. It's also an absolute show to watch the bartender make the drinks because this was the first time I saw a drink got lit up on fire! All the drinks are aesthetically pleasing and are truly unique. Will visit again.

We tried to find a good place to drink for our last night in Denver during our summer vacation trip. And we found Tatarian on a Tuesday night. The ambience is awesome. Love all the interior decorations and lighting. We got the Rainbow and Baobob for the first round. It took a while and we had a sneak peak of how they were made. The drinks turned out to be extremely beautiful and tasty, like a piece of art. Then we got the Kapok, which reminded me of the breeze on Big Island in Hawaii. It combines all the tropical fruit taste and is very well balanced. We finished our night with Green tea shots, which is a special request from us to the bartender/manager. He made it just the way they are supposed to be. Perfect ending of our trip because of the Tatarian.

Wow, this place was amazing! I loved everything about it! Honestly, the reason I wanted to go was because their menu is beautiful, and the cocktails and place did not disappoint. -The service was 10/10! Went for my birthday yesterday and they could not have been nicer about it! They said happy birthday like 5 times and even gave us free Prosecco to celebrate! Our server was so sweet, he even sat down with us to chat. The manager also came by to talk and check in and she's the one who brought us the free Prosecco. Both were so sweet! -The place is super cool. A very awesome mix of elegant and comfy. Beautiful decorations and awesome art! -Dark Hedges was a nice balance of not too sweet and fruity. Very good! -Lone Cypress was super weird, with the cilantro infused gin, but I give them big props for originality and it actually tasted really good once you got used to the weirdness. -Loved the Baobab - like a banana milkshake! Will definitely be back!!

This is a beautiful space, so many cocktails from which to choose, very nice staff, and solid snacks. I only stayed for one drink, but it was an effing delicious drink. I also tried my friend's drink. I believe we ordered of the standard list, but they also have seasonal and maybe one more menu? Naturally I'll be back to taste all the options! Ok, maybe not all, but still.

Hands down, new favorite place in Denver! Great staff, great cocktails, and great atmosphere!! We had reservations this evening and sat at the bar, where we were able to watch the amazing bartenders create our cocktails from scratch. I tried three different drinks this evening and was absolutely floored. They have very unique drinks all priced around $14-15, which is definitely worth it. The atmosphere is also great, and very relaxed!

If I could give Tatarian 6 out of 5 stars, I would. And I don't say that about a ton of places. It's easily one of my favorite bars in the whole country, both for customer service and excellent cocktails. My friend took me here, as it's one of her favorite bars too. We sat at the bar, and the bartender handed us menus, which are available for purchase. Each drink is so interesting, detailing a backstory for each cocktail name. Gradually I want to come back to try everything, but this time I got two. First was the Amate, an iced tequila and grapefruit cocktail. So refreshing. Second I had the Dragon's Blood, which is a hot gin and tried fruits drink. Both were some of the most unique drinks I've ever tried! I love the art of cocktail creation, and our bartender was wildly talented. After we loosened up a bit, we got to talking about the best places to visit in Denver. It was the first time I felt genuinely excited to move here, as I was bittersweet and anxious before. It might get a little pricey to make Tatarian a regular habit, so maybe I'll save it for a special occasion or take out-of-town guests here. Everything from the ambiance to the glassware contributed to how heavenly Tatarian felt, and I can't wait to come back again!

Bars like Tatarian get me excited about the cocktail world. The hidden gem in the heart of Tennyson is easy to walk passed. One might not have a clue the level of phenomenal drinks being produced between 5pm and 2am every night of the week. The bartenders are artists, lifelike magicians firing on all cylinders. Stiff and smokey drinks, homages to tiki culture, or variations on the classics can all be found here. And if none of those are your cup of tea, they'll ask you what your preferences are and whip up something on the fly. Árbol del Tule - Mezcal, Coffee Liqueur, Liquor 43, Montenegro, Demerara, Hellfire Shrub, Angostura Bitters. The inspiration comes from a meaningful tree at Oaxaca's famous church grounds. I'm pretty sure this is me in cocktail form. Smokey, rich, sweet, spicy and deep. With a boatload of intense flavor profiles, I was rather impressed how all the ingredients played off of each other. An exquisite cocktail for my tastebuds! All in all, the bartenders were friendly and put on a quite a show. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, I can't imagine anyone being left disappointed. The 5-star reviews couldn't be more deserving. Hell, they even pour you a glass of water when you take a seat. Talk about hospitality professionals!

This was by far one of the best cocktail bars I have ever been to. We tried a variety between all of us and each one was truly incredible! The inside is trendy and quaint, while still being cozy. The "Kapok" was refreshing and unique that you didn't get bored sipping it all the way through. They used a great Irish whisky also! I also had the "Boabab" only after trying my friend's because honestly...I wasn't sold. It sounds REALLY weird. Banana? Heavy cream? Gin?? But I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a dessert drink, but not too sweet - this was my favorite drink of the night! Give it a try!

This bar is my favorite little place to hang out. The drinks are incredible and the bartenders are stellar. They consistently take time to find something I'll personally enjoy. Sydney was incredible!

Had an awesome experience here, delicious drinks, great service, and awesome ambiance. My favorite thing to do especially when ordering craft cocktails is to ask the staff what they recommend based on the type of flavors I enjoy. I'm not sure which drinks they ended up bringing me, but they were delicious! Even better, the staff were extremely knowledgeable about their ingredients and menu, so it only took seconds for the waitress to recommend multiple drinks for me. I will absolutely be going back!

Best drinks around in a relaxed, swanky environment. I love this place and their drinks are some of the tastiest and most inventive in Colorado. Highly recommend this place if you're a fan of superb, craft cocktails.

Was in Denver visiting my sister. Wanted a little cocktail before dinner. This place was amazing. I had a smoked bourbon drink that blew me away. They will also do custom drinks based on what you like. My stepmom and wife both loved their house made drinks. We came back the next night

Great place for a date or a small meet up, but any more than that isn't recommended since the place is so small. However ... my ice cube came branded?! Wow. The presentations aren't as good as those I've seen at the Welton Room but the drinks taste better and are stronger. Plus, there's plenty of other cool places to check out on that street but parking can be tough.

Can you say beautiful and tasty drinks?! I came here with a friend a couple nights ago to check out a different part of town and boy was I glad I did! The place makes some very artistic drinks. We sat at the bar so that we could take in all of the creativity that came with each drink. Let me tell you that the menu is a pretty mixed variety of base drinks and flavors. It was recommended to me to get the drink that had a little fire incorporated into the making of my drink. There was also drinks that were put in a smoker that sat right in front of me, sooo you know I was unable to draw my eyes away from the magic haha. It is a pretty quaint bar that has a nice atmosphere and many different options for seats. I would recommend the bar if you want to observe the drink making. There's also seats if you prefer to have private conversations. The drinks are a little pricey, but believe me the work that goes into making them is worth it! I don't think I have seen that much go into makin a drink look and taste so good, except on tv. You bet I'll be back to try some of their many other drinks..and watch others be made!:)

Okay first of all, the menu alone is straight up a Kinfolk magazine, with gorgeous images and allusions to various trees species outlining each drink with a story and recipe. Hands down one of the best cocktail lounges in Denver! The drinks were so good, made with quality ingredients and a show right before your eyes! Repeat customers, no doubt.
