I was looking forward to coming here since I enjoyed my food so much on my previous visit but unfortunately, this wasn't as enjoyable the second time around.
First mistake was deciding to dine-in instead of getting it to go which I did last time. Service was lukewarm at best, complete opposite to what I had before from hostess, bartender, server and food runner. Initially I wanted the bar but decided to move to another area so the bartender let me know I needed to return to the host for that. No big deal since it wasn't busy at the time, so the hostess pretty much let me sit wherever. Since there wasn't any major games going on, there were only a handful of customers during this mid-afternoon.
Server came over right away and the up-sell began by offering Fiji or sparkling water (no tap option) when I had to mention tap myself. I always ask for a lemon not only because I like it, but to see if they are actually listening. They weren't in this case, so I had to get up and ask the bartender for one. As for food, I didn't stray and went with their chicken platter as I did before since it was so good.
Food was brought out in a timely matter, smaller portion than before (two instead of three pieces of chicken which was fine since I didn't finish this before) but it was simply...okay. Fries were fine, coleslaw was still excellent, but I was let down due to the overall experience compared to my first visit at Tavern. Service from everyone was just shades below what I had last year when things were great, and I could not wait to return.
If I had to come back, I would get this again (to go), but I don't think I'd make the effort to visit again if I'm staying elsewhere.
