I loved this place! Made me feel like I stepped back in time. Atmosphere was awesome and the food was delicious! Looking forward to eating there again!

We had dinner here during our stay at the hotel, my kiddo and I. We weren't overly hungry, so we opted to buy a burger and share the meal. The wait staff was very accommodating and requested that our meal be split and served on two separate plates, making it easier for us to share. Thank you for that!!! Now, the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the burger medium well, and it was cooked perfectly. It had just a touch of pink and was still juicy. I'm glad we shared our meal because the portion was, in fact, large enough to split for he two of us. The fries were amazing! They were so nice and crispy. They were exactly how I want fries to always be. The ambiance of the restaurant is incredibly cozy, lovely, and inviting. It feels like the kind of room you'd want to stay in, especially with the large fireplace and comfy seating. Bottom line, I really enjoyed our dining experience and wouldn't change a thing. I have no notes.

This place is great!!! Food and service was a 10/10 and the restaurant was perfect for a quiet late lunch. The Fried Cauliflower and Fig Jam Burger were amazing!

The best meal in Salem we had! We came back here after we stumbled upon the neat old and historic restaurant inside The Hawthorne hotel. We figured it looked nice let's try it out. Everything we had was perfection! I've been touring all the pretzels every restaurant I go to this year and they had some of the best. The Chicken marsala was so flavorful and tender. The asparagus could not have been better prepared. They have an impressive cooking team because it was all wonderful! Definitely a place we'll revisit!

This is a go to every time I’m in Salem, and I make sure to go multiple times. My server, Matt, was amazing. Super attentive and personable. The food is always superb. The prices are right on point. The ambiance is perfect. It’s my favorite spot in town.

Seriously one of the best burgers I have ever had! The way the flavors of the Bacon bree burger played off each other was to die for! The Sweet potato fries though... I must warn you... They will ruin any others you've ever had or will have! They were so wonderfully crispy on the outside while remaining fluffy on the inside. I simply couldn't get enough. Will be eating here EVERYTIME I'm in town! Service was above average with friendly staff too!

Stopped by this restaurant for dinner while visiting Salem. We chose it because it was the highest rated restaurant nearby, and it lived up to its ratings! We called first to check wait times - 15min for party of 3 at 6:30P on a Monday. We arrived and there was no wait at all. The hostess was very kind and so was the waitress. We had fantastic service!!! The waitress was attentive, quick and fun. We shared the honey chipotle hummus plate which was absolutely delicious. I had the clam chowder and the waitress suggested a side salad as the chowder bowl is a little more than a cup of soup. I had the lemon-basil dressing on their side house salad - it was so good! The clam chowder was delicious, thick and filling. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The waitress had no problem separating our bills into 3 for our party. The lamps do have plug ins for your phone charger which was very nice!!! Our batteries were low from all the pictures we had been taking that day. Would definitely return and definitely recommend!

Google
service was slow but worth the wait as the food was delicious. lovely place to break after a long day on your feet. we had a fish sandwich and a reuben. would definitely recommend if you are in the area

Yelp
After taking an Uber from Manchester, New Hampshire to Salem, Massachusetts, I wandered around town, looking for a restroom and found The Tavern at Hawthorne Hotel. I needed to have lunch anyway, but needed the bathroom first. I had hoped that having lunch here would permit me to use the restroom facilities here at this hotel. I got lucky and kept my promise and instead I was just leaving without having lunch here. Apparently this place was popular because I had to wait maybe 10 minutes before the server came around and asked how much people per group. Once my turn came around I quickly asked if I could use the restroom before getting seated, and he said OK. Once I was seated and ready to order, it was quite an experience. This place seems to be a bit contemporary while being above average in terms of dining experience. Not quite fine, but it was definitely not casual for sure. It was in between casual and contemporary, but quite sophisticated at the same time but not fine dining. I spent about an hour and a half here. It was a nice place to just and unwind from the travel experience. I ordered the 1925 burger that was ordered, medium rare and served with french fries I also ordered a side of onion rings. Drink of choice was two local beers, which I had two of them through my meal here. The price is here can be up there, but I was in Salem, Massachusetts and on vacation. Might as well actually. The beers was actually interesting and definitely a compliment to the burger and fries I had and the onions. It was pretty cool to be here and definitely recommended if you're in the area. The overall experience here at The Tavern at the Hawthorne hotel Salem was quite interesting and definitely a place where I normally don't go, because of being upscale and contemporary. But as it turns out, it was meant to be. Fate, as it were. I wanted to taste the local craft beers they had and have lunch here. The hotel was busting. Everybody seem to want to have lunch here and there was a line 3 deep when I got here. The restaurant itself was pretty popular and thankful I got a table without waiting too long. Service was very friendly and professional about getting people served and on their way. For the most part, though, it was definitely a nice experience to dine here at The Tavern. The burger was funny nice and hit the spot. The french fries was pretty neat and quite crunchy. I ended up having that first before biting into the burger. Particularly liked the beer pairing which made this meal very nice and complementary. Had two beers and the tab came out to be at least $50 if I'm not mistaken. Oh the joys of vacation for sure, lol. Everything tasted heavenly and definitely a place to come to if you are in the heart of Salem Massachusetts, and need a bite to eat. Definitely recommended for sure. I ended up coming here while there had a pretty large Halloween event type thing in the middle of October.. The Tavern at the Hawthorne Hotel is located at 18 Washington Square W in beautiful Salem, Massachusetts. It is a few blocks from the Salem witch museum. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. Don't forget to ask your server about what kind of wines and beers they have available. You don't wanna miss that complementary pairing of local beers with your meal. As far as parking goes, there's only street parking that I know, of if you are driving. Street parking is at a premium here for sure. Not sure if Salem has public transportation system here or if it's connected with Boston's public transportation system. As for me, though, I ended up Uber in from Manchester, New Hampshire and left in an Uber to my hotel near Boston. Where is always a good option for anybody and everybody who needs it. You can always have a car but to navigate Salem Massachusetts best thing to do is have an Uber if you can. If not, there's always having a car, your own or rented, but parking can be at a premium. And so, if you're in the area, come on down for some craft beer and some good food you may be glad you did. I know I did and just might be a hidden gem in Salem Massachusetts. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the ambience and decor. 3.0 stars for the prices and 4.0 stars for the food and service. Support local! B

Yelp
This would have gotten five stars if not for the horrendous service we experienced. We ordered appetizers and drinks right away, and were shocked that the apps (which took around 15-20 minutes) arrived before the drinks, we got rose and Prosecco, so it's not as if they were mixed drinks that take longer. The server never checked on us except rarely, maybe every half hour to 40 minutes. In fact, my friend hardly touched her app and didn't end up enjoying it, he saw the full plate and never asked her about it or checked to see if she wanted something else instead. We have both worked as servers ourselves before and just couldn't understand how he didn't seem to care to check on us. Even though my nachos tasted good, it really led us to become quite irritated by the time we left, my friend had to walk up to him physically to hand him her credit card after waiting longer than 25 minutes. The ambience would have been nice otherwise. What a shame.

Yelp
This tavern has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it feels like it's stuck in the middle ground. Maybe stuck in tourism? They know they will always have business so why spend time and money on making it epic... The atmosphere is casual and laid-back, which is perfect for grabbing a drink with friends or walking-in to get off your feet. The interior is cozy enough, but the vibe felt a bit dated, with some areas that could use a refresh (some areas smelled odd like moldy?). The menu offers the usual tavern fare--burgers, fries, wings, and sandwiches but a bit more elevated. For example, the veggie curry was good and the grilled cheese was oh so fancy and FLAVORFUL but both those dishes were severely overpriced. We had a table of seven and other than those two dishes, everyone else stated that the food was decent but unremarkable. Each of us ordered two to three drinks each (we basically went down the drink menu). The drinks were on par with what you'd expect for a local tavern, with a solid selection of beers on tap, though the cocktails were underwhelming in both presentation and taste. Never have I ever received an Old Fashioned with crushed ice and no cherry. I decided to ask for a different version each time (definitely with NO crushed ice--JAIL) to see if they would get better...nope. Service is friendly enough, but it can feel a bit slow during busier times. The staff seems stretched thin, which might be the cause of the occasional wait (and poorly crafted drinks), but they were polite and did their best to make you feel comfortable. All in all, this place is fine if you're in the area and craving some standard pub food and drinks, but don't expect any culinary surprises or a particularly memorable experience.

Yelp
It was pretty busy but our server Matt was able to handle the floor well and we never felt like we were forgotten. My aunt and I both ended up getting the baked haddock which was delicious and I finished with the Nutella affogato. For drinks we also had the harvest margarita (tasty!) & the cosmic mule! I'm not a huge fan of mules so it wasn't for me but my aunt liked it!

Yelp
This was hands down my favorite restaurant we ate at in Salem. When popped in for a quick lunch (one of the only places we didn't have a reservation at for the week) and were greeted and seated very quickly. The host was super friendly and the waiter was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu and showed us ways to make some of the meals vegetarian (which was greatly appreciated since half of our group was). The food was the best part!!! Everyone loved what they got and the portion sizes were huge! We loved it so much we debating coming back for lunch the next day.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The staff was friendly and great! The food was out of this world! Nice and cozy with the fireplace going.

Jenn R.

Yelp
Ambiance is top notch. Warm and inviting with a cozy vibe. Beautiful woodwork and throughout with delicious food! The 1925 burger was delicious and our waiter was wonderful. We also got a sundae that was enormous and way too big for two of us. Drinks were delicious. Will be back for sure whether we stay at the hotel or not.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Great spot. The food was excellent. Cocktails - eh. Service slow. It's a very small place so even at it's most crowded, it's not super busy. But it's a beautiful place conveniently located to many attractions.

Jennifer I.

Yelp
It's a great location, service was a little questionable. First they cleared my table while I went to the restroom. Then I ordered a Brie burger, it clearly states Brie in the name and description. I was given blue cheese. When I questioned the server she said it was Gorgonzola cheese and that's what it said in the description. Totally gas light me! It doesn't say that in the description at all.

Victoria O.

Yelp
Hostess extremely nice. Airhead but nice. However this waiter Adam is a total jerk. I understand pal you are miserable waiting tables but life is short. Move on.

Lori F.

Yelp
Another fabulous dinner at The Tavern. I wish I remembered our servers name. He was so attentive and nice. Tonight the Hotel and dining room were so festive looking for e upcoming Holiday. And to see the outside tree lights through the windows was beautiful.

Jackie S.

Yelp
We were in search of a dinner spot when our original plans fell through, and we were able to walk right into the Hawthorne Hotel! The building is old, charming, and gorgeous. The food and drinks were superb - I loved the seasonal pumpkin martini! The nachos came with a huge portion and were tasting and filling. We both enjoyed our entrees - my burger was just what I wanted and the onion rings were crispy! We don't recommend the old fashioned though. The only downside of the meal was the service - it took us nearly 2 hours to have our meal. I'm fine with slower service, but our server wasn't communicating the holdups to us and we saw a lot of others around us finish their meals first who got in much later than we did. More thoughtfulness from the server would have saved the experience. Overall, I'd recommend it, but leave yourself some time in case the service is slow.

Sharon L.

Yelp
Great ambiance. We came for dinner without reservations and were seated right away. Service was quick and friendly. The food was good. Ordered Grilled cheese and husband had the Meatloaf. Would recommend this restaurant for dinner. The bar was very nice and music played in the background. A. Ice lively place to have a date night or outing with friends.

Yelp
A nice, cozy spot near the Salem Witch Museum. We went here after going to the museum, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the pumpkin arancini & hummus appetizers and the haddock sandwich. The arancini sounded really interesting and could've been a miss, but it was definitely a hit! The sauce is sweet and the arancini is savory. It hit that sweet-salty combo on the spot! The hummus was delicious as well. The roasted chickpeas on top brought this up a notch. It gave the hummus an extra nutty flavor. Really good! We had to get more pita bread to eat it all up. The arancini sauce was also really good with the pita. The haddock sandwich was really nice. Very fresh fish. Not overly breaded or seasoned so the fish flavor shines. The brioche bun was a perfect choice for the sandwich, though I think it could use more toasting. The sandwich got a bit soggy. We ordered the truffle fries with the sandwich but got regular fries; hence, the 4 stars. Overall, we had a great time here. Our server was very pleasant, and the food came out quickly. Oh, my cousin ordered their witches brew cocktail. That was pretty and tasted good too.

Abel R.

Yelp
This restaurant is inside the famous Hawthorne Hotel. It's known to be the most haunted hotel in America. The staff were super friendly and the hotel is beautiful. The food was amazing.

Susan L.

Yelp
Had a wonderful lunch here. Split 2 menu items with a friend. The Spring Flatbread was delicious, plenty of arugula and goat cheese, plus grilled asparagus and onion jam. Perfect proportion of toppings to crust. Hate when you need to sent out a search party to find the toppings! The grilled chicken panani was also excellent. The kitchen split everything for us, which was a nice touch and kudos to our server for requesting it. I researched lunch places in the area and most just had dinner menus. The Tavern had great lunch dishes, is near all the attractions, and had excellent service. Would not hesitate to return.

Katie M.

Yelp
You enter old world charm with this cozy restaurant. Everything is cooked to order so don't come when you are in a rush but definitely come when you have time to enjoy it. The service was great it was a little on the loud side but that was mainly due to one large party. Everything we had was delicious and just the right size I'll definitely be back. #chickenpanini #meatloaf #saltedcarmelmartini #coconutcurry #cheeseburger #cremebrulee #churros #cheeseboard #willflyforfood #dinner #salem #Massachusetts

Yelp
Stepped in for a lunch with friends while visiting Salem on a Tuesday. There is something on the menu for everyone's taste and the service was exceptional. This was a nice place to escape the sun and unwind after a long morning of driving. Glad we stopped and will be back the next time we are in town.

Joe S.

Yelp
This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant! Great Gilded age Ambiance with comfy chair cute design. Everything was great to our taste. Our waiter was always present and helpful. A modern-American menu, where i had a Gin cocktail (blackberry) that was fresh and flavorful ! We then started with fried Feta, and it was devine! Crunchy on the outside and melted from the inside, with honey bread. As a main dish, I had a fried Haddock, really good size of fresh fish, with spinach and home made tartare sauce. So good! Will always stop by when i come back to Salem!

Jerry W.

Yelp
The food took 30 minutes on a slow very few customers day .One couple came in after us got drinks, food and left before we got ours.Waitress said they got chowder .3 plates of food that didn't look like Chowder to me. The mule drinks we got were horrible and tbe waitress just said too bad....My diet pepsi took 25 minutes to reach table and was so watered down it was not drinkable...The food was not good and our waitress did not care about anything that we asked about She did offer a box for the food we did not eat, but it was not good so why take it home Worst Food and service in Salem.... Manager and waitress did not care ....save your money. It looks great inside ..but NOTHING else is Good

Reggie P.

Yelp
The shrimp app was great! The pretzels app had no flavor The truffle fries were okay but nothing And the normal fries tasted more like fucking pretzels than the pretzels. Never again please

Carol L.

Yelp
This is my go-to when I go to Salem to visit the Peabody Essex Museum (first rate museum, by the way, but that's another review). My pal and I went for lunch on a Friday in July on the early side to beat the crowd. We were greeted warmly and seated at a nice table for 4. Our server came right away and was attentive throughout. I had a tasty glass of Malbec and she had a Chardonnay. Lunch (which of course I forgot to photograph until too late) was a Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries for her and a Fried Haddock sandwich with homemade potato chips for me. The cheeseburger and fries looked delicious but unfortunately was too well done for my pal. She asked for "pink" and was told "medium" would get the job done, but sadly it came out well done. I would have gone for medium rare myself. My fried haddock sandwich was perfection, haddock crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, served on a lightly toasted brioche bun with lettuce, onion, pickle and tomato. Plenty of tartar sauce on the side that I could slather on to my hearts content. The homemade chips were sublime. We weren't rushed through our meal and by the time we left the place was bustling. You can't go wrong with The Tavern at The Hawthorne Hotel!!!

Mary H.

Yelp
My husband and I were meeting up with family and were looking for a good place for lunch. This place was terrible! Service: My husband asked if they had Heineken 0. She said she would check and 10 minutes went by. We had to remind her then she came back and said they didn't have it. My husband then ordered a root beer which was warm. Food: The lobster roll was $40 and so not worth it. It was a tiny hot dog bun and the lobster salad has no flavor or seasoning. The sweet potato fries were good. This was the first food item that came out! Not the soup and salad! The salad was ok. The dressing was too sweet and needed salt. The soup was ok. Campbell's is just as good. There wasn't a lot of seafood. The restaurant itself is nice and should be a fancy place. The food and service were disappointing.

Jan F.

Yelp
Typical pub food. Located at the center of the main street I did not expect much exceptional quality. Price still seemed reasonable. Very good ambience, and generally good service although with exception.

David G.

Yelp
Great tavern to meet friends and enjoy great drinks and some good food choices. (Do not get the cheese board)

William L.

Yelp
Have been here multiple times and tonight must have been an off night. Food: 4/5 flatbread was great as usual and the side of sweet potato fries were fantastic. The BLAT was ok, but lacked a je ne sais quoi. Drinks: 2/5 normally drinks are fantastic and the price is good too. Today we thought let's mix it up and see what the bar can do. We subed out one ingredient and it was terrible. Not only did it take over 10 min to get the drink but it didn't taste good. Service: 1/5 today was the slowest service ever. From greeting to asking if we are ready to order, coming back, food and drinks. Everything was slow tonight. I saw other sections of the restaurant moving way quicker. Ambiance: good as usual and slightly busier

Becky K.

Yelp
Cute place. Fun to just relax. We had the cheese board and artisan pretzels knots- yum! Drinks: ghost on the 6th floor- yum and the screamscicle martini- didn't love. Cost $73 plus tip.

AR R.

Yelp
Had a late lunch here and the comfortable wing back chairs by the fireplace made my lunch so much more enjoyable! Service was great and timely. The French dip was delicious! The au jus dip was well-balanced and paired well with the lightly toasted pesto focaccia. The caramelized onions, cheese, and mushrooms was just the right ratio. I'd recommend getting the sandwich with truffle fries!

Mel H.

Yelp
Great food, seafood chowder was delish. Stopped in on a rainy afternoon. Atmosphere is very cozy, and apparently the fireplace is ablaze in cooler weather, which I'd love to experience. Great service, generous portions, will definitely be back.

Belinda R.

Yelp
Party of 3 for an early dinner. We were sat immediately. Drinks we taken. We ordered the Sangria, Screamsicle, and a Zombie smash. These were strong drinks. For appetizers we ordered the parmeasan truffle fries and the baked brie. So gooey and tasteful. For dinner we ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf, the portobello opened sandwich and the wedge salad. The wedge was so crispy and fresh! The meatloaf was extremely tasteful and the portobello was juicy as well. This was the best dinner we had here in the area. Waitress, Brittany did an awesome job. THANK YOU for making our first time here unforgettable.

Sky E.

Yelp
I always love the live music and the food here. Typically the bar staff and hosts are ever attentive and I always leave happy. I especially love bringing a cocktail out to the lobby to read a book. However the service for a sit down dinner is not good. It takes a long time for them to take a drink order, meals, and they won't check up on you either. God forbid you drop a fork and try to get their attention. Eating here took about two hours which I wouldn't have minded because of the music but the long wait for something like water made it pretty uncomfortable. Overall stick to the bar or don't come hungry.

Sara M.

Yelp
Brought my son here for lunch on vacation. Delicious BLAT (BLT with avocado) and French Dip. Prices were reasonable and portions large. The homemade chips were crispy, but had no seasoning on them. Waiter was attentive. Much nicer than most other restaurants near the Salem attractions.

Tom C.

Yelp
The restaurant itself was a bit loud due to it sharing a bar, but the feel was cool. Great old historic location with some interesting food choices. Enjoyed it quite a bit & the service was friendly.

Kimberly M.

Yelp
My fellow celiac folks...dedicated gluten free fryer! Chicken fingers and onion rings are delicious! It's a modern day Salem mash up, sports bar, tourist attraction restaurant, and patio area. A local favorite!

Tricia W.

Yelp
So very disappointed; I made a reservation for Friday, Apr 14th, at 7 PM. We arrived at 658. It was very busy there, but also the hotel had a wedding in the grand ballroom. We waited about 5 minutes for a host to appear; a group of 4 before us also had reservations. The hostess let them know it would be a bit as there were no free tables. She shared the same with us. At 715, one of the group members went up to talk to the hostess; she said there was only one table almost ready to leave. The member asked for something complimentary - say, a glass of wine. The hostess approved. I went up directly after that discussion to find out more information; the hostess informed us no worries and that we would have a table; however, she did not offer us a cocktail for our wait. A moment later, she offered us to be seated at Nathaniel's across the lobby, with the same menu. Because we were hungry, we accepted, but it was not the ambiance I was looking for on a date night! Unfortunately, we won't be rushing back to check out the tavern.

Julian A.

Yelp
Beautiful cozy setting and every dish we tried during our stay was exceptional. Staff very accommodating; nothing is a problem. Generous portions and amazing cocktails.

Charlie H.

Yelp
This place was awesome. A random find for us "out-of-towners" and it didn't disappoint. Two seats at the bar, a clam chowder and tavern burger, hocus pocus drink and comical bartender made this an evening to remember. I consider myself somewhat of a burger expert and this was one of the best without question. Highly recommended.

Rita Y.

Yelp
I had an incredible birthday lunch here with my two girlfriends on Saturday. We popped in on Saturday, Oct. 24 without reservations and were seated no problem. We were seated in the basement due to a wedding occurring in the ballroom. It was beautifully eerie down there. My friends and I shared a bottle of Prosecco for my birthday. We each had a cup of the New England Chowder, and it was absolutely divine. Our waiters (they all helped at each table) were delightful and engaged in conversation with us. The service was fast, as well. I absolutely loved this birthday lunch and will relish in the memory of it forever! Thank you so much.

Sierra B.

Yelp
I cannot rate the food here highly enough! Everything was delicious. My boyfriend loves his haddock and said it was better than Turner's. We had the pretzels and the nachos as our appetizers. The nachos were my very favorite item on the table--unless you count my apple cider aperol spritz, which was heavenly. I ended up ordering a second one and I'm not normally a big drinker. My boyfriend had the old fashioned; we both agreed our drinks were the best we had the entire time we were in Salem (and the strongest as well!). Our waiter was excellent, though I cannot remember his name--probably too much aperol spritz too blame for that. The dining room is very classy and the chairs are extremely comfortable. My only complaint is that I was freezing--and we weren't even near the door. Definitely didn't ruin the experience, just a consideration for any other cold-blooded people; you might want to bring a jacket!

Jay W.

Yelp
I wandered in (not a hotel guest) unexpectedly after my "first choice" for dinner was closed and wow, was I glad that happened. I was seated without a reservation at a table for two with a high, wing-back chair and began soaking in the atmosphere. The menu offered so many options but I ended up trying the chowder (Steve's Seafood Chowder) and honestly I would have ordered a second helping if I could have possibly eaten it. . .just simply the best chowder I've ever eaten. No question. If you don't at least get a cup as an appetizer, you are missing a 5-star experience right there. What could I have as a main course that wouldn't let me down after that chowder? A truly gourmet grilled cheese. This is not a sandwich for kids or "kids at heart" (only)! I've never had a grilled cheese with such diversity of flavor, not too much bread (believe it or not!) and just the right mixture of ingredients (a bit of garlic, a few leaves of spinach, and just the right blend of cheese. You will love this sandwich, and let me say, I'd drive hours just to have those two items again!

Johnny Adrianne H.

Yelp
Great service and great food! Had pretzel dip and a couple of others! No complaints here just had a good time!

Amanda B.

Yelp
I tried making reservations prior to my trip in October but the website didn't show any available reservations during our stay which was a bummer. Then on a Wednesday afternoon my cousin and I found ourselves walking past the Hawthorne Hotel as it started raining so we headed inside to see if we could get a table. To our surprise there was only a 15 minute wait so we put our names in and were seated within ten minutes. The restaurant is very cozy with moody lighting and large comfy chairs. We ordered the pretzels as an appetizer; they were good but nothing to write home about. For our entrees, we both ordered the French dip without onions and mushrooms, and upgraded to parmesan truffle fries. My cousin's meal came out perfectly but my meal was full of mushrooms and onions. I absolutely hate taking food back but I cannot get down with mushrooms no matter how hard I try to like them. Our server was super apologetic and had the kitchen remake my meal. It took a really long time which wasn't a big deal to me since we weren't in a rush, but they ended up comping my meal. Once I did receive my meal, I dived right in. The focaccia bread was definitely the star of the show but the prime rib was good too. Truffle parm fries were 10/10.

Carolyn L.

Yelp
Great bar and restaurant in the Hawthorne hotel. The ambience is cozy and warm-perfect for our winter weekend in Salem. The food was fantastic. I had curry with salmon which was light but filling. My husband is still raving about the chowder. The portions were ample, the service was attentive but not annoying and the ambiance perfect for a cold winter night. Casual and relaxed. Definitely recommend if you're in Salem.

Tara K.

Yelp
Wow, stumbled on this hidden gem. Drinks were fantastic, food was amazing, fresh and oh so tasty. They even made us a special holiday drinks. Service was outstanding too

Will S.

Yelp
Been twice now where we have made a reservation waited an hour and had to cancel so I can't tell you how the food is because I haven't had it.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. I had the Seafood Chowder; it arrived cool and had to have it warmed. There wasn't much seafood and the broth was too creamy and not very flavorful. Companions had the 1925 Burger, Caesar Salad with Salmon, and portabella mushrooms; they all liked them. Pleasant but not extraordinary lunch.

Yelp
The tavern is an absolute must for us when we visit Salem! The drinks are always great, the food is to die for and the service couldn't have been better!

Yelp
Lovely place to eat. Staff was charming and the food was delicious. We stayed at the hawthorn hotel and I had come down for brunch each morning and I left full and satisfied then off to hit salem for some early am shopping.
