It's really magical to go to The Temple Bar Pub in October, especially now that the Christmas lights are up! The outside of the pub is truly stunning. Twinkling fairy lights, huge red bows, and a huge Christmas tree create a lively holiday atmosphere that makes the whole cobblestone street shine and draws crowds looking for the perfect photo spot. You can already feel the buzz of people talking, music coming out of the doors, and the lights making the chilly fall air feel warm and welcoming before you even go inside.
The atmosphere inside Temple Bar, which is well-known for its electric energy and genuine Irish charm, is excellent. Locals and visitors alike sing along to the nearly constant live performance of traditional Irish music. Christmas ribbons and wreaths add a touch of coziness to the décor, which is adorned with intriguing memorabilia lining the walls. If you're lucky enough to get a table, there are plenty of nooks and crannies, but when it's busy, especially around the holidays, standing at the bar is just part of the experience.
The drinks are great. Temple Bar has one of the biggest collections of whiskey in Ireland, and you have to try the pints, especially Guinness. Their Irish coffee or Bailey's coffee is a great choice for a seasonal drink. It's great for warming up after being outside. Even though there are a lot of people, the staff is friendly and helpful, making everyone feel at home.
Expect classic pub food like hearty sandwiches, nachos, burgers, and Irish toasties. People often recommend the oysters and the Christmas Classic Sandwich. Both are tasty and go well with a pint. Prices are higher than at most Dublin pubs (a pint can cost more than €10), but the quality, setting, and lively atmosphere make it worth it, especially for a special trip.
A few small things to keep in mind:
(1) If you want a table or unobstructed photos, it's best to arrive early because it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and in the evenings.
(2) The outdoor area is just as important to the Temple Bar experience as the indoor area. You can enjoy watching street performers and other travelers enjoy the holiday spirit.
(3) There is live music every day, all day, so you won't miss out on the fun.
(4) The restrooms can get busy, so make plans ahead of time.
All things considered, Temple Bar at this time is more than just a place to visit a pub, it's a celebration of music, lights, laughter, and that quintessential Irish friendliness. Strongly suggested for an enjoyable and picturesque evening in Dublin!
