The Ten Top - Review - Ghent - Norfolk - The Infatuation

"The Ten Top is primarily a serious take-out operation open for lunch or dinner, but it’s also cozy enough that you wouldn’t feel uncomfortable dining in before shopping along Colley Avenue or catching a movie at The Naro. Eat here once or twice, and you’ll become so emotionally dependent on a sandwich you’d crumble if they took it off the menu. The tuna melt in particular–a split baguette top-loaded with tuna salad made from house-cooked tuna steak, smothered in cheddar and broiled in the oven—will make you question everything you have ever known about tuna melts. If one of the soups of the day catches your eye, however, get it. What would be an afterthought at any other cafe is arguably the main event here. They’re constantly changing, but they’re consistently the best thing you’ve eaten in a long time." - Alicia Camden

The Food: We ordered the Greek Lamb Hoagie and the daily special which was Cod, Mashed Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. We also ordered 2 side salads and a ginger ale. Everything was very good. The bread used for the hoagie was delicious, and the Tzatziki drizzled all over the top was on point. My only complaint with the hoagie was a lack of lamb, I felt like only 3 bites of the sandwich had enough lamb. It was mostly cheese and Tzatziki but the bread was so good with the Tzatziki that I ate it all anyway. I would order it again regardless of the lack of lamb, and am very open to trying their other sandwiches because of how good the bread was. No complaints or special notes about the daily special. It was served with a tomato based sauce that I made sure to get in every bite, as it was very good and a perfect compliment to the Cod. The Service: We ordered at front and the interaction was seamless, however I am disappointed the 2 drinks (water bottle and ginger ale) were missing and the bag was tied so tight it would’ve been a hassle to undo and check for it in store. Definitely bummed I didn’t try their ginger ale, which according to the people ahead of us was particularly good. I liked that when we asked the person at the front questions, the answers were genuine and detailed. It helped us make our selection. The Atmosphere: I really liked the style choices of the restaurant. Everywhere I looked, there was something interesting that caught my attention. Although this was a takeout meal, I would happily return to sit down in restaurant.

Everything about this place is exceptional. We often visit during lunchtime and have no trouble finding a comfortable spot to sit and unwind. The atmosphere is relaxed, with chill background music and consistently friendly service. The menu is impressively diverse, offering creative and flavorful dishes that never disappoint. This is our second visit, and it has easily become one of our go-to spots — a place we look forward to returning to regularly.

Google
What a cute spot! Clearly loved by the locals, sandwiches and soups galore. I enjoyed the pasta salad and caprese sandwich. Cute decor and friendly staff. My only suggestion is local fresh heirloom tomatoes for the caprese, the tomatoes tasted GMO. Besides that minor detail, overall five star lunch spot!

Google
Finally got the chance to try this quant little restaurant out and man do I wish I would’ve done it sooner. Got the Baked Caprese Sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was beautifully crispy on the outside like a good crusty artisan bread should be and then soft and on the inside with the most amazing balsamic glaze on top. Definitely will be back! Sorry about the picture. Forgot to take one prior to eating.

Google
Ten Top never fails. I'm one who doesn't mind a soup in the summer, so that's exactly what I ordered. Fortunately, they change the soup menu every week to keep it interesting. This week, I am tasting the lemon turmeric chickpea soup, and it's giving comfort food without the sluggish feeling. Every ingredient is a compliment to the next, and trust me the lemon is not overpowering either. I wish this could be weekly thing, but I'll take this treasure while it's available. Stop on by and see how you like it!

Google
Ok, so I searched for unique places to eat lunch and Ten Top showed up. I read a number of reviews and most everyone had a 5 star review. Upon our visit they were busy with activity, and we lucked out, there was a table available. My daughter and myself ordered the roast beef with horseradish, tomato, onion, and it was delicious. My wife ordered the chicken salad and she ate more than I have ever seen her eat. Oh, and reading the reviews about their potato salad, each of us ordered it and it was delicious. This is a hidden gem you must visit given a chance. On our next trip we'll be sure to visit again.

Google
This place!!! Great music, cozy atmosphere, INCREDIBLE food. We split the meatball special and the gnocchi. Can’t wait to return.

Google
This was my first time here and the food was absolutely amazing! It got Tomato Parmesan Soup and the Grilled Cheese & Veggies Flatbread, with Potato Salad as the side. OMG Deliciousness!!! I couldn't eat it all and I'm excited to have my leftovers. I also enjoyed the quotes and witty notes throughout. If you haven't eaten here yet, I highly recommend it. Thanks for being amazing!

Yelp
Great made from scratch sandwiches/salads. Really well run with a variety of options. Soups are a great side and plenty of beverages to choose from. Parking is a bit tough at times. Just park on the street. Really enjoyed everything

Yelp
Quick and easy spot to pickup a sandwich in Ghent! I got the Greek lamb hoagie, which was packed with plenty of lamb slices. The lighter dill dressing was a good contrast, and it all fit together nicely in a baguette. Also a big fan of the refreshing pasta salad as well!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so grateful for this local gem in Ghent! This place always delivers high quality lunch/dinner options and you can taste the fresh ingredients they use! Another bonus: they have daily lunch and dinner specials where you can try something new every day. Unbeatable service and cute location.

Yelp
Quick service and delicious eats. Fun, eclectic, nostalgic decor. A variety of soups, sandwiches, and salads are available, as well as a great local beer and wine selection. The birria burrito was the special of the day - hubs said it was "quite good." I had the California Cobb salad with the Tuscan chicken soup, which was way too much food. I was happy to enjoy the rest for dinner. Will definitely return for more!

Yelp
This is my second time coming here. The first time wasn't even for me because I got my sick girlfriend some soup. She said verbatim "they have the best soup ever". I don't eat a bunch of soup so I said sure and left it alone. BOY oh boy.. listen, they got good everything. I decided to try the baby back ribs sandwich with red onions and pickles? Fire. She had the special which was chicken mashed potatoes and a Caesar (there was other stuff but I was too busy eating my own food) which was MMMM MMMM! And to top it off? The music was bumping and had us jamming in our chair. And as an extra plus any place with a pinball machine is a place I wanna go to. The one problem they have is the parking in front of the store is a lil packed, but it's Ghent area. Just find a place to park and walk. Super nice area and pretty safe too

Yelp
I love this place. Since first coming here in 2016, we've probably been here at least 20-30 times. This is a feat in itself as it takes us almost an hour to get here. People often ask me for good food places and The Ten Top is the 1st place I always mention. When I worked down the street at VDH we would order take out all the time, and I only worked there 8 months! Anytime I find myself in Norfolk, we visit TTT. The food is always fresh, it is always delicious and the staff are always friendly. I've had a 3rd of the menu (some things I just don't eat, no reflection on TTT menu) and am always stalking their specials. We found ourselves in Norfolk to see a friend and stopped in for lunch. I had my favorite turkey apple club and hubby had his, the meatloaf sandwich and ordered a bowl of soup du jour, Creamy Chicken Cheese Tortellini-y'all, I am NOT a soup person but I was freezing cold, a little melancholy and needed a comfort only a childhood memory could satisfy, and that soup satisfied everything I needed that day. Hubby barely finished his sandwich because he wanted soup, soup and more soup. We even had leftovers and he finished the soup before his sandwich. To say I love this place would be an understatement. I've shared them with about 20 friends, coworkers and even strangers because they are just that good.

Yelp
Ugh I cannot get enough of this place!!! Not many seats so be prepared to flex and take your food to-go. The food is SO GOOD. I cannot say this enough. From their soups to sandwiches - luxurious flavor profiles and professionalism from the kitchen staff. Tip: bring your laundry to the laundromat next door OR have an early dinner and see a movie across the street!

Yelp
I really liked this spot! Unique menu choices. I got the crab cake sandwich (a touch spicy with great fresh flavor) and my mom got the warm goat cheese and walnut salad! We ordered pick up and ate at home but there are a few tables in there. Plus the desserts at the counter looked amazing. I got the fudge brownie as a last minute decision

Yelp
Came for lunch with a friend. I would have prefered a half sandwich and soup but I substituted the regular side for one of the soups of the day which was super yummy. The bowl was huge & the sandwich was too. Had leftovers for dinner. Can't wait to come back and try different soups!!!

Joy M.

Yelp
Drove 20 mins to eat dinner here. Walked in, small dining area to eat. Ordered at the front. Menu were printed papers, special of the day is posted on the wall above the ordering counter. Hummus was good- needed a hint of lemon in my opinion and the Naan needed to be toasted a little longer. Meatloaf dinner- that's enough for 5 kids under 5 to share. Omg, it was enormous. It was all good. The mashed potatoes were creamy. Veggies were steamed Just right and the meatloaf was seasoned well. The ten top wrap it was so good. The lasagna soup(it's labeled something different) was so good. I loved all the tomatoes in it. The caprese sandwich- on point. Although, I should have added a grilled chicken or bacon to it. Lol. Will definitely be back! Service on top of it!

Yelp
I love it here! The food is always so fresh and delicious. Their daily specials always look incredible. The staff is friendly and food usually comes out pretty quickly. Had the tuna melt for the first time on my last visit and it was good. Also highly recommend the McRick rib sandwich. I think it's the best sandwich I've ever had. This is a great neighborhood spot!
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
Their Tuna melt is out of this world. I don't even like tuna that much. Every time I take a bite of their tuna melt I close my eyes while I'm chewing bc I feel like I'm not on earth anymore. It's unbelievable how good it is. I've since tried tuna melts at several other places and have not satisfied. But the tuna melts here are the real deal Holyfield! I'll take a pic next time!

Yelp
Fun place with great sandwiches. Great place to grab wine and sandwiches for a picnic too

Yelp
I really liked this restaurant. It was my first visit, but it won't be the last. They have several tables for seating or you can order your food to go. The Ten Top reminds of a diner without the countertop. The food is great and the service was spot on. I had the smoked salmon and arugula salad and it was delicious. It had fresh sliced Parmesan cheese, sundried tomatoes, red onions, and the Parisian Dijon dressing was a great touch. The owner/manager brought the food to the table. They have Dirty chips - you can't ever go wrong with those. They offer soups du jour, which o forgot to try. But, I'll be back. There's so much to explore on the menu, from salads to sandwiches to wraps. And they serve dinner too!!

Yelp
We were struggling to find a place to eat lunch on a Tuesday. Came across this place and it was amazing. I had the warm goat cheese walnut salad, hubs had turkey apple sandwich, and the kid had the Mcrick. Great hospitality. Don't know that we will ever be back this way but would definitely plan to eat here if we are. Wish we could give more stars!!
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Fast, easy, yummy lunch spot. I enjoy the small menu and freshness. I imagine it changes so there's always something new! There isn't tons of room for seating but take away is well worth it.
google avatar

Randi M.

Yelp
yummy ahh sandwiches and good ahh vegetarian options, kind of expensive (14 for a wrap and chips) but the flavors and amount of food are kind of worth it. also the guy was really nice!!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice staff, great tuna melt and roast pork. Side salad was stuffed in the bowl :) would love outdoor tables but 10/10 will come again

Yelp
I'm been bringing my Dad to my favorite lunch/dinner spots and of course The Ten Top was on my list. He loves soup so he was happy to see they had 5 choices! He opted for the Tomato Parmesan and he really enjoyed the flavor. It was also plentiful and came with a slice of bread. I had the daily special which was the Pesto Chicken Flatbread and it was super. Loved the arugula on it as well as the shaved Parmesan. Very tasty and the personal size was filling. I couldn't finish it! Always so glad to see that a great local spot remains consistently great. Dine in here or take out without hesitation.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches and potato salad. I got the pastrami melt sandwich and husband got the meatloaf sandwich. They were both super yummy. Personally, I prefer much thinner cut pastramis but it's not the end of the world. We went there Wednesday night and there were a few orders for pick up, but the seating area was definitely empty. I'm looking forward to coming here again to try other items.

Megan G.

Yelp
The Ten Top nails it with cute, quirky decor and seriously good food. The lamb hoagie was outstanding -- tender, flavorful, and perfectly put together. Service was great too -- Alan and the team made sure everything felt easy and welcoming. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!

Yelp
A cool little neighborhood eatery that's nestled away right off of the main street. This neighborhood gem is easy to miss. The food is delicious. The inside is small . The menu has an array of sandwiches, soups, and salads. The food is really good and the staff is super chill. I've consistently gotten quick accurate service.

Yelp
One of my Go-To lunch spots in Ghent. Ten Top is one of a kind. Their food is great, and always has a fun unique twist. A must if you've never been!

Yelp
The Ten Top | Norfolk , VA 748 Shirley Ave , Norfolk , VA 23517 This restaurant is small but mighty. They have limited seating inside and also offer take out options. The decorations inside feel very hipster / eclectic and they also have a pin ball machine in the corner . They offer appetizers , meaty sandwiches , fresh salads , vegetarian and , seafood sandwiches . They post lunch and dinner specials on their social media page that change daily ! The parking lot is really small. Like realllyyyyyy small. You'll have to find parking around the area and walk over the the restaurant. I ordered my items to-go and decided to go with the Parmesan Herb Veggie Potato soup . It was a little oily but the flavor was decent. I give that a 5/10 . I also ordered the Braised Chicken Thighs with mushrooms , shallots , carrots , applewood bacon & a red win gravy with mashed potatoes . It also came with bread AND a salad. I give this a 6.5/10 . These portions were massive ! Definitely get your money's worth. The staff was super friendly and patient with me since it was my first time. I'll will go back and try some other items. I was able to get my food rather quickly.

Yelp
A gem in Ghent! Ten Top serves consistently tasty, savory food and sizeable portions. This charming little "hole in the wall" spot near the Naro theatre has loads of character and a great menu -- if you love good food! I like to call in to order their daily specials for pickup when I don't feel like cooking but want an awesome meal. And it's a fun spot to have dinner in and then take a walk down Colley Ave. Great soups, sandwiches, yummy breads, entrées...and tremendous value for your money. Cannot say enough nice things about this place. Happy to have found them.
google avatar

Kirk D.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Great menu, great homestyle cooking. And huge portions. Unbelievable meatloaf, and it's massive. Two can share and still have leftovers! Wonderful Shepards pie. Well prepared sides (potatoes and veg). Nice little restaurant, very clean and funky decor. Very nice folks work there. Really want to go back to try the sandwiches.
google avatar

Michelle I.

Yelp
Great homemade taste, and generous portions.i would recommend them for lunch! Try their soup!
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
Amazing service, flavorful food that you will CRAVE, Ghent's local go-to for unique twists on amazing dishes. I have been going here for over a decade and literally never ever disappointed. They are run by a local husband and wife team and always delightful staff. You can't go wrong with ANY dish. The daily soup specials are perfect on a rainy day. The decor inside is funky with vintage toys and a local booksellers corner. Do not sleep on Ten Top! Love y'all!
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
Outstanding food, large portions...can't go wrong with that. Wish we had a place like this in SoCal!
google avatar

Max F.

Yelp
Quaint, homey sandwich eatery and in the heart of Ghent . Prices reasonable. Small area though, not many tables.

Kerry S.

Yelp
I tried the lunch special today, 7/15, it was a roast beef with cherry preserves, Brie and Dijon-chive aioli and it was the PERFECT sandwich! I love that they are doing a French theme currently. I also always love their potato salad.
google avatar

Xavier C.

Yelp
I don't know what it is about this place. I don't get to go often but man is it good. As you may expect (the name), they don't have an exceptional amount of seating. That's fine. Many folks just come and go when they get their food here. I came here as I was passing by and wanted a good meal without all the crazy hoopla that comes with it. I had to get moving but didn't want fast food either. If you're in the area and are in that "don't want fast food, don't want to break the bank, but don't want to spend the next hour being served on" here's your win. This place is just that. It fits a niche that is greatly needed. It's tucked away with a place that doesn't have a great deal of parking but, meh... you can make it work. I personally had a salad and really liked it. Added some chicken and mmmm.. delicious. I hope that this review helps a lot of the business folks in the surrounding area. Come give this place a shot! Food Taste: 5 Overall Service: 5 Value of food to cost: 5 Facility: 5 Repeat customer: yes Dog Friendly: no

Mike S.

Yelp
Best restaurant that I know of in Norfolk. It is more or less healthy American food but they offer some ethnic specials as well. Always delicious.
google avatar

Kaivalya D.

Yelp
This is a small, local, hole in the wall business that sells a variety of sandwiches and entrees. I live super close to Ten Top so I get food here all the time! There's some room for dining in the restaurant and limited parking space so I prefer to take my food to go in case it's busy. I always get the tuna cheddar melt sandwich when I come here. Their tuna salad is made fresh!! I've tried several of their other items (lab hoagie, chicken walnut wrap, and the meatloaf sandwich) and nothing beats this sandwich. It's so filling and always lasts me two meals. In case you're not a tuna person, then I'd recommend the meatloaf sandwich which is also a solid 5/5. Their staff is also always kind and service is great! They usually have delicious brownies at the register as well in case you have a sweet tooth :)
google avatar

Elaine M.

Yelp
It's nice to support small local businesses but honestly, the food is better, the large chain restaurant food is gross, it's frozen, processed sometimes they are rigid in their menus. Ten Top food is great and they are super friendly. I'm a vegetarian so there's a few things on the menu I can try but the Baked Caprese is so damn good I haven't tried anything else. Don't tell anyone though, I do t want them to run out.
google avatar

Juli M.

Yelp
Tasty sandwich! Got the caprese and it did not disappoint! Ambience was nice and the employees were so friendly-won't be the last time I come here when I'm in Norfolk.
google avatar

Gabe C.

Yelp
I haven't set foot in the place itself; but when I tell you the sandwich I had from there was memorable enough for me to want to write a review, ya best believe the place is worth a shot. 10/10 good soup too

Yelp
About a 1-1.5: Yikes! I was pretty excited to try out The Ten Top, as it had some rave reviews. This place has a lunch and dinner menu, and they also offer catering services. We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered the following as a carry out: +Rick's Big Meatloaf Sandwich - meatloaf slices on a toasted sourdough, topped with baby greens, tomato, white cheddar, and BBQ mayo +Chicken, Apple Chutney, and Walnut Wrap - white wrap filled with chicken breast, apple chutney, toasted walnuts, romaine lettuce, carrots, and melted mozzarella +Tuna Cheddar Melt - tuna salad in a French baguette, topped with cheddar and baked +Smoked Salmon Cake Sandwich - house-smoked salmon cake with whole grain mustard, honey, and dill remoulade, topped with baby greens and tomato, on a brioche bun The sandwiches were served with a choice of pasta salad, potato salad oranges, cole slaw, or a bag of chips; we opted for the pasta salad, the potato salad, and the cole slaw. Honestly, we just were not fans of the sandwiches; the combination of the ingredients listed on the menu sounded so delicious, but what we had, it just didn't taste good. The meatloaf was way too mushy, the tuna and the salmon both had an overpowering fishy odor and taste to them, and the wrap was super bland, even with the chutney. The staff here were super friendly and kind, and the place itself gives off a quirky, retro-esque vibe. I really wanted to have the same tasty experience as others have had, but no dice. I'm glad I was able to check this place out, though. Parking is available in the small strip plaza lot. +underwhelming sammies +super friendly staff! +parking available in strip plaza lot

Yelp
I went to the website to order, and it automatically linked me to Yelp, but Yelp did not show me any status so I called the restaurant and a young man tried to help me, but was not able to confirm my order. So I went back to the Yelp app and noted that there was a GrubHub Contact button so I contacted GrubHub who confirmed that there was an order. So I called the restaurant back to double check and let them know what I found out and the young man was helping me and another man took the phone away from him who said he was the owner and he was the most rude person I have ever Spoken with over the phone. He wouldn't listen to me so I could explain that it seems that yelp is connected to GrubHub and he cut me off and was so very rude to me. I will never order from here again. This guy clearly can't handle pressure nor does he have the first clue about good customer service. Total loser.!

Yelp
Super friendly, loved the food, very chill atmosphere. This has always been a family fav!

Yelp
Great sandwich, salad, and baked goods dive situated next to a laundromat on a one way street in Norfolk's Ghent. Owned by a community minded couple that used to deliver large orders to my place of work. What may have only initially sat ten (name?) now accommodates 16-20 people, including a high-top window counter section with views of novelty toys spanning decades. Well imagined lunch menu offerings for all palette preferences and dietary restrictions: poultry, grazing meat, fish, cheese, and veggie options. Thought my salmon smear was a salad but it tasted great as a sandwich; warm, toasted wheat bread hosting fresh smoked, tender fish with fresh veggies and creamy smooth herbed goat cheese: a well assembled lunch option with no regrets - take that FOMO! (After I ordered the salmon smear and sat down, I noticed the flatbread pizza special with arugula and peaches....mmm). Based on my co-workers reaction to her food, I'd say her pimento cheese sandwich was a welcoming warm food hug on a formidable Fall Monday. Who doesn't need a food hug? Order process and food prep were swift. They bus tables when you're done. FYI, street parking and small lot present.

Yelp
Listen, if you are looking for a quality sandwich shop., please come to Top Ten. The selection are amazing. I ordered the special sandwich. This pastrami melt was big enough for 2 people. The meat was nice and tender. The veggies were fresh. The blue was nice slathered over the homemade toasted french bread. The soup was rich and flavorful. It was perfectly seasoned with nice balance of parmesan. .I flew from Detroit just to come here. I can't wait to to try it tomorrow.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was a nice surprise. It may be small, but it is mighty!! Everything we ordered was delicious and made on site. And if you are a fan of your mom, or your grandma's meatloaf, then you must order the meatloaf. It is big enough for two people. They do not skimp on the portions. I will be back!!!

Suzanne R.

Yelp
The chicken salad sandwich I ordered was deliciousness and I love that they have a couple of my favorite drinks. However I ordered an orange for the side and it tasted sour. The decor in the place is fun and the people working there were very friendly. I want to go back to try their soups, they had a bunch that I don't normally see on menus.

Yelp
My very best friend was only in town visiting me for 24 hours. The Ten Top made it on the list of spots I just had to take her to while she was here. I've had several fantastic meals here, but the one I want to brag about is the veggie grilled cheese. I brought my friend here for "second lunch" so she could try it. The first time I bit in to this sandwich I actually said "oh wow!" I was expecting to enjoy it since I like all the different veggies and cheeses, but I didn't expect a "wow" moment. There are enough veggies so you can trick your mind into thinking you're eating something healthy, but enough cheese so you don't forget you're eating a grilled cheese sandwich. The bread has a perfect crunch that helps complete this awesome sandwich. I'm a fan of the potato salad as my side. I don't usually get jazzed about potato salad, but I inhale it from The Ten Top. Service here is usually quick, I usually don't have an issue finding street parking nearby. Love this spot!

Yelp
Ten Top is delicious. Absolutely delicious. I wait with baited breath each morning to see the 'Specials of the Day' get posted on Facebook. The specials are seasonal and fresh. Interesting and innovative. Selections like vegan French onion soup (I'm not vegan, yet I inhaled it with focused obsession), salmon and cauliflower chowder, Mediterranean beef. All amazing. All homemade. All delicious. The soup and sandwich combo for lunch is a generous plenty and I usually take half of it home. Each soup meal comes with a lovely piece of crunchy baguette. Highly recommended local gem of a restaurant.

Yelp
First time at Ten Top despite working a ten minute walk away. We arrived just after opening on a Wednesday morning. The staff was very friendly: I was really torn between the crab cake and Greek lamb sandwiches, and highly recommended both but suggested the crab if looking for something a little lighter. (On my way out they also said the tuna melt is phenomenal. I unfortunately don't love Tuna, but if I was ever going to eat and enjoy it, this would be the place. The pictures look mouthwatering good!) I believe they said it would take maybe 10 or 15 minutes, but we were in and out in less than ten. One other customer came in during that time and was also in and out quickly. Back to the crab cake. Wow! This sandwich is massive and the side of potato salad could best be described as an actual mountain. The sandwich consists of a really well seasoned crab cake, fresh greens, perfectly ripened tomato slices, and a caper dill aioli that set the whole thing off perfectly with a delightful little tanginess. The bun was delicious, soft and a little sweet, but I ended up tossing it aside half way through just so I could finish the rest of the crab and other toppings. The potato salad deserves it's own paragraph here. Large chunks of potatoes that seem well flavored throughout, crunchy bits of celery and red onion, all resting amongst a creaminess rivaling the best mashed potatoes. The serving size is enormous and though I ate maybe a third with the intention of saving the rest for later, I find myself still picking at it because it is just so satisfying. I can't wait to come back to try the Greek Lamb Hoagie, and will probably have to work my way through the rest of the menu as well. This is a great little lunch spot in Ghent!

Yelp
Man if ever the phrase "don't judge a book by it's cover" held true, it would be the Ten Top. Small, few tables , kind of a hole in the wall BUT, And I repeat BUT, Service and food was out of this world. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and I dont know what was in those potatoes but it had to be fairy dust because they were fantastic. The meatloaf was like a brick of pure heaven. It was humongous! My wife and son had pasta and as far as I can recall they were excellent too but quite frankly I was too busy having a food orgasm on my own. It was really good. Highly recommended. I even beat the pinball machine too. Take that El Vira..............

Do yourself a favor and save your appetite if you're headed to this small, unassuming establishment for lunch. I came here with a coworker and we both left with smiles and full bellies!! He ordered the Greek hoagie with cole slaw and I ordered rick's meatloaf sandwich with potato salad. The meatloaf looked like it was half a meatloaf. Each piece was nearly an inch thick. I really enjoyed the sandwich as well as the potato salad. They had some sodas in the cooler that I had never seen before so I opted to try some kind of root beer they taste better than IBC root beer. I can't remember the name but I think it was called Spiecher. I wish I had scanned the menu better before we ordered because they also had Cajun crab and catfish soup and some kind of black bean chili that smelled outstanding. Although I think if I would have ate a bowl I probably would have busted at the seams. This place definitely goes to the top of my collection in Norfolk, Virginia. 5 stars and well deserved!!
