The Tenderloin Room

Dinner at The Tenderloin Room was one of the experiences we were most looking forward to during our trip to St. Louis. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. Service was shoddy at best. We heard more from the water refill staff than from our actual server all evening. Despite the restaurant being lightly attended, we waited an unusually long time, which felt off from the start. When the food finally arrived, everything we ordered came out over about 15 minutes and 4–5 separate trips, completely disrupting the flow of the meal. There’s always an uncomfortable moment where you debate saying something about your food, but we were so hungry after such a long wait that we felt stuck eating as it arrived. We wanted to wait until the entire meal was served, but that clearly wasn’t going to happen. Once all the food was finally out, we waited for our server to return—he didn’t. His next appearance was to drop off the check while we were still eating. We hoped a manager might stop by, but we could barely get our server back even once more. His only explanation throughout the night was referencing another “difficult table,” which should not have impacted our experience the way it did. Given the overall experience, the food was incredibly overpriced. After the trip, I made a sincere effort to share this feedback directly with the restaurant and the general manager, Anthony. I first reached out via email in early November. Here we are nearly at Christmas, and there has been no follow-up beyond an initial “when can we connect by phone?” And “sorry I was out of town” —despite multiple emails from me. I would not recommend The Tenderloin Room…at all. The food was cold. The service was cold. The atmosphere was cold. And any attempt to provide feedback afterward was a failure.

The food and service at The Tenderloin Room are phenomenal. It was our first time going, and we went for my birthday meal. I am incredibly pleased with our choice. My husband had the scallops, which were seared to perfection. I had the 10-oz Australian Wagyu Strip. They brought out a piece of strawberry cheesecake for my birthday at the end, and by then we were so full we had to pack it up to take home. If you're thinking about coming here, do it; you will be happy you did. I look forward to our next visit.

5 star rated steaks that are perfectly seasoned, that just melt in your mouth. Do not be swayed by the location at the hotel as this is not just a place for guests. This, by far, was the best homemade steak sauce I've ever had, so when they come over to the table with a fresh pot asking if you would like some, say YES! The garlic mashed potatoes were so simple but just a perfect painting with the right amount of seasoning. The service was amazing, as well as the crafted cocktails, especially the old fashioned. You are going to pay about $70 a steak, but my 10oz filet mignon was absolutely mouthwatering. Definitely worth is to celebrate that special occasion or for a romantic date night not. Loved our time here and the stained glass bar is beautiful!

Yeah, good luck. Unless you enjoy circling the block like you’re training for NASCAR, just surrender to the valet and call it a day. Totally worth it. Step inside, and bam — those stained glass windows in the bar area? Gorgeous. Like, “Am I supposed to be sipping a cocktail or quietly admiring art?” levels of stunning. We kicked things off with the crab dip because, obviously. It was creamy & dreamy, and the kind of starter that makes you realize you’re in for a night of gluttony. Then came the surf and turf, my personal teamwork challenge since I’m not about that flesh life. My friend took on the steak like a champ, and I handled the seafood side of things. Sharing is caring, right? We added fingerlings to round it out, and oh, let me tell you, those potatoes were crispy little golden nuggets of perfection. And the bread and butter? TO. DIE. FOR. I’m talking “cancel your main course and just live off this bread basket” levels of good. Moral of the story: I need to stop underestimating the gems in my own backyard.

The service was great but the atmosphere was a little odd, and the food - while decent - did not blow me away. At this price point, I would expect better. I'll give it another chance in the future, and is probably worth a stop if you're at the hotel and looking for a decent steak. But I don't think it's something worth going out of your way for.

Beautifully decorated. The drinks were amazing and well crafted. Chef did fantastic on all of our dishes. All around great time!

I had the pork chop which was fantastic. I would say an 8.7 out of 10. Had it had a bit more seasoning, then it would have raised the show to maybe 9.3. The Brussels sprouts, BEST I HAVE EVER TASTED HANDS DOWN!!!!! Atmosphere was good, same for service, morning special or over the top. If you go, get the pork chop and Brussels, TRUST ME! Pictures is the pork chop and the filet, which was said to be OK.

Best steakhouse in the city! I took myself here for a solo date and wow. My steak was amazing 10/10. The bread and butter is so delicious. The best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had in my life. The service is great! Odd restroom system but they can’t help that. Can’t wait to go back for another visit. Thank you for the enjoyable experience!

Wait staff was stellar. Food was top notch. Stand outs were beef carpaccio and salmon. We were offered the additional accouterments for my fingerling potatoes. Ambience was nice. Real candles. Easy to access as we stayed at the hotel on premises. Overall we were very pleased. Lots of patrons due to health care conference. Very attentive waitstaff. Water always refilled in a timely manner

"You can never go home again" My husband and I dined at the Tenderloin Room last night and it was extremely underwhelming. We were married at the Starlight Roof of the Chase Park Plaza 43 years ago and decided to relive some memories. What a mistake! They claim to provide diners with a memorable evening, and it was... But not a good one. We went with friends who were also celebrating their anniversary on the same night. There were six of us. Our server looked very polished, but when it came to being attentive it was a very sloppy evening. She didn't bring around the chilled appetizer cart, so we asked about it and she then begrudgingly brought it by our table. After we had ordered salads, we asked if there were any specials for the evening. She then told us there was a Burrata appetizer special that she never would have told us about if we hadn't we asked. The steaks were fine, but very ordinary. The pistachio sauce that came with my scallops was cold. The sides that we had ordered were not served until after we waited so long we had to ask about those, also. My favorite, creamed spinach is no longer on the menu. When making the reservation we were asked if we were celebrating an occasion. Dessert for our anniversary was not even offered. Although the conversation and the company was delightful, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

First time eating here was last Saturday night with my SO. Brian was our server and he gave us impeccable service. All other staff we interacted with were also friendly and attentive. SO is gluten free. Brian was careful to check the ingredients on anything we were curious about. We shared the crab and artichoke dip, whipped feta app, little gem salad, salmon, and tenderloin with green beans and mashed potatoes. SO I had vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup for dessert. Our experience was on point throughout the entire meal and the food was delicious! It had a really nice Saturday night vibe. Highly recommend!

Had s business dinner with my team. Great location, the food was delicious everything was prepared very well. The servers were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely would return.

This was my second visit to the Tenderloin Room and it was disappointing at best. While their remodel from several years ago is well done, it was the only improvement since my last visit. We had reservations for 8 for a special occasion dinner. Our server was friendly, but mentioned he was hosting and serving which was apparent as the evening went on. The serving of the food and drinks was chaotic. We still had the bulky menus on the table as we were trying to enjoy appetizers. As our food came out there were still empty soup bowls and appetizer plates that weren't removed. Water glasses were left unfilled and the food was less than lukewarm and underwhelming when delivered. My in laws decided to get the dessert that was offered for their anniversary. My father-in-law misunderstood that 1 would be free (which wasn't a problem), but a key lime parfait was delivered instead of a hot fudge sundae. Because there were large gaps between check ins from our server, he ate it without complaint. I've always felt the Tenderloin Room was an iconic St. Louis staple, but now I wouldn't recommend it to others after this experience. Neither the overall experience nor food made it worthy of the reputation or the price tag.

I took my husband here for his birthday. Neither of us had ever dined here, even though it's been around for years. We were seated promptly, and the first thing we noticed was how noisy it was! It was not the nice quiet dinner for two we had in mind. Our server was lovely and did her best to take care of us. Our food was just ok - my filet was overdone, unfortunately, and the green beans were lukewarm. The lobster tail was good. For the price point of this restaurant, the food and ambiance did not deliver.

I had never heard of the Tenderloin Room until recently reading a food article, and was extremely impressed. One of the best steaks I've ever had - this is now on the top of my list for steakhouses in St. Louis! Tried: crab cakes, mocktail, and NY Strip Loved: all the flavor. The butter with the bread was fantastic, the crab cakes had an amazing sauce top off the flavor, and the steak with the butter was perfectly grilled with some char and amazing flavor with or without their amazing steak sauce. The mocktail included a shrub that gave it an amazing flavor that tasted like alcohol without the effects. I'm a fan! Disliked: the size of the crab cakes, felt a bit small for the price but understandable

My boyfriend surprised me with a night in at the Chase Park Plaza and a dinner at the Tenderloin Room for my birthday and this was truly phenomenal! Since it's included in the hotel, we didn't have to go out in the cold and rain which was so nice. But we could still dress up and feel like we were on an adventure with a true steakhouse at our fingertips. I enjoyed the New York Strip and he had the Filet Mignon. Both were tender and delicious! We also enjoyed some lemon martinis, house rolls, mashed potatoes and cream corn. Our server, Cyndi, was so kind and was clearly working hard on a busy Saturday night. Even through her hustle she made sure to make my birthday special and come by to check in when she could. 10/10 would visit again!

Some coworkers and I attended the tenderloin room to celebrate one of our managers being in town. Overall, the food was good, but for the price, I feel as though it should have been great. It wasn't bad, just nothing special that I haven't had before. The Pepperloin a La Tenderloin was a beautiful cut of meat, but I didn't feel like it had as much flavor as described. The mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and Brussel sprouts were my sides and they were really good and flavorful- but I'm not going to the tenderloin room for the sides if that makes sense. The cheesecake was good, but also just basic cheesecake, nothing too special. Overall, for the price, I was underwhelmed. The service was average, the food was average, and the ambiance was a nicer than a normal hotel restaurant, but I wore slacks and a shirt and didn't feel under or over dressed.

I had tried this place a few months ago but came back to celebrate a birthday. This place did not disappoint a 2nd time around either. We ordered the Ribeye and the Salmon. Both dishes were charred to perfection. The salmon had a perfectly charred skin and came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. For the sides, we ordered the creamed spinach and mushrooms. The sides were delicious too! They have an excellent cocktail list and an expansive wine list to choose from. They have a special smoked old fashioned which comes to the table encased in smoke. Their bread rolls are glorious as well! Highly recommend it. For dessert we had a chocolate ganache cake with blackberry ice cream. Our server was very polite and accommodative. She ensured she checked on us regularly. For parking, they have street parking or you can park at the hotel and get your ticket validated at the restaurant.

What an amazing hidden little gem! This place was phenomenal. The layout was so spectacular and the seating was so clean. The dark wood inside is so pretty. I went into a food coma just after the bread with honey butter. I loved everything that I had tried. I couldn't eat everything and was so full after apps but it made a great lunch for the day after. The service was the best and our server was so fun. He made our experience even better. I highly highly highly recommend the Tenderloin house and I will most definitely be back soon! Bread butter: amazing so phenomenal Seafood dip: very tasty but there is provel if that isn't your vibe Smoked salmon app: tasty, can't go wrong with cream cheese capers and salmon. Brussel sprouts: so tasty and savory Mashed potatoes: the most tasty I've had, so much flavor and so filling Salmon: a REAL piece of salmon my goodness. I rarely get a good sized piece of salmon when I go out and this was such a tasty sight. Normally I would receive half of this but truly so happy to see and taste this dish. It was the best!

The food is amazing. I met a friend at the bar for drinks and a snack and I am committed to returning for a full dinner! The service was fun and friendly!!! The space is a family owned space in a great location, inside the Chase! Pricey but worth it!!! Definitely returning!!

I was in town for work so we took the team out for a yummy dinner! There were 10 of us and we did make a reservation. We were greater & seated with no real enthusiasm. Then our waitress came to take drink orders and seemed unhappy to be there. The entire dinner was blah, food was ok but not amazing especially for the price and our waitress never smiled. O ordered filet surf & turf and the lobster tail has zero flavor. We were a big group but friendly and not high maintenance. There are so many great restaurants in STL and sadly this is not one of them.

We had a lovely time at the Tenderloin Room last night. The ambiance is dark and intimate, different areas that allow for a sit down dinner or there's space at the bar. I started off with the Smoked Old Fashioned which came in a lovely Booker's box. It was presented beautifully and tasted amazing...super smoky,warm and so comforting on a cold January night! We had the Crab cakes, beef carpaccio and shrimp cocktail for starters. The beef carpaccio I think was a little overpowered by the mustard seeds, still delicious, but I would've liked more flavor. The shrimp cocktail was fantastic!! The presentation I'll say was just a little awkward in my opinion because it was difficult to dip the shrimp in the cocktail sauce on the plate. My filet was so incredibly tender and delicious. I ordered the horseradish sauce and it was a lovely compliment to my steak and my garlic mashed potatoes. I highly recommend asking for the Espresso Martini before ordering your dessert so they can prepare the espresso ahead of time! We tried all three desserts for the table and I did like the carrot cake the most. I will say I think the desserts looked and tasted like they were pre-made which was a little disappointing especially for the price point you pay here. The desserts are delicious, just disappointing they don't maybe collaborate with a local bakery at least to add more value and a homemade feel to their dessert options. Our wait staff was so incredibly nice and accommodating. They were very attentive and helpful at any point in time and never left us needing anything. Beau was a fantastic waiter!! All in all I'd definitely recommend a visit to the Tenderloin Room if you're looking for a solid Steakhouse in St. Louis.

Another fabulous dinner in the books at The Tenderloin Room. Celebrated our 37th anniversary last night and as always dinner was amazing! This is our go to for any special occasion! Husband had the cowboy steak and I had lobster! Crab cakes for app and of course the smoked old fashion is amazing, those two are always our go to when dining here. Don't hesitate to check out the TLR it is amazing.

This place has been on my list for YEARS now! I finally found the perfect excuse to come here and splurge on a fantastic meal. I came a little early before our dinner reservations to enjoy the bar and have a nice cocktail. The bartender was absolutely delightful (I wish I remembered her name!) and helped me choose the perfect control to start off the night. My friends had arrived and we were quickly seated. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was top notch! Our waiter told us they redecorated during COVID hoping to bring in new guests and not just guests of the hotel. Our server was hilarious and knew the menu like the back of his hand. We ordered the smoked salmon and seafood dip to start and they flavors were unmatched. I ordered the house filet and Brussels sprouts to share and my girlfriends ordered the Salmon, Scallops and prosciutto as their meals. The table was silent for a few minutes which is rare for our group because we were all enjoying our meals so much. The waiter recommended the sundae and we weren't too sure about it until we had our first bite. WOW! Homemade ice cream with some rush flavor beyond what we were expecting. The whole meal was an amazing experience and I will say it was mostly because of our waiter. The food and drinks were phenomenal but he made us feel like family and kept us laughing and grinning from ear to ear. What an amazing nigh!

The food was excellent; the waiter was friendly and professional, and the atmosphere of the TR is always pleasant and relaxing, with great acoustics to make a quiet evening.

I really enjoyed the music and ambience. Very nice! Our waitress was professional and helpful. However, my 52 dollar scallop dish did not come with a creamy herb sauce or the chimichurri sauce the waitress indicated. I was confused regarding the sauce but both sounded great. The dish was sautéed scallops in oil or butter on top of a couple of fingerling potatoes. There was no detectable herbs or sauces to make the dish special or make it stand out and they were overcooked. Too pricy for an average no effort dish. The appetizer sides we ordered were ok too. They come out with a cart with cold shrimp on it, smoked salmon and some sort of seafood salad. It's not a particularly attractive presentation. We tried the highly touted smoked salmon and it was good but not great. The food was disappointing at the price point and we much preferred eating at The Preston. Much better food and value. But the tenderloin room has the ambiance!

Definitely a special occasion restaurant. The atmosphere is gorgeous and feels high-class. You can definitely dress up for dinner here. White tablecloths, dim lighting, nicely dressed staff. Very cool lighting fixtures. My 4 stars are definitely made by the wait staff. They were awesome. Attentive, friendly, always there to fill your water and fold your napkin when you get up. Knowledgeable about the menu items. The food was okay. I am a vegetarian, and this is more known for its steaks and meat dishes, so take that as you will. I got the mushroom risotto and again it was just okay. A little...salty? Tough to put my finger on what was wrong, but it tasted off in some way. I thought the rolls were dry and the dessert was fine (I had cheesecake) but kind of plain. Cocktails were good, but there is no cocktail menu so you really have to know exactly what you want.

The meal was ok and so was the service. They don't handle food allergies very well. I started with the Senate Bean Soup and it was quite tasty. I ordered the 10oz fillet and I added the Bleu Cheese Crust enhancement and I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. The bleu cheese crust was far from a crust but a melting of bleu cheese on the fillet. My fillet was cooked medium on one half and medium well on the other. Too much grilling reduced the juiciness of the meat. My side dish was the twice baked garlic mash potatoes. The garlic mash potatoes were very rich. They added a lot of sour cream which I wasn't expecting. Overall the meal and service left a lot to be desired. I used the valet parking and the restaurant validates valet parking for free.

This was a fantastic steak! We may just go back again tonight too! Service was excellent. I have zero complaints!

Still a very good place! Everything very tasty with great drinks! The items at the bar are also delicious (Burger and steak sandwich) - service always good.

Impromptu dinner for my 50th birthday tonight. I had not been here since they reopened. I used to visit frequently with my father years ago. Loved the gray velvet booths that spanned the length of both walls, with large round private booths in the two corners flanking the huge fireplace. Very comfortable atmosphere. We ordered the green pea horseradish hummus, the 24oz porterhouse, and the twice-baked mashed potatoes to share. Everything was delicious. I loved their "house steak sauce" which must have been au Poivre. It was so delicious, I did not touch the Béarnaise sauce I had ordered. I was wished happy birthday multiple times and gifted my choice of desserts. Ryan did an excellent job serving us. He knew the menu well and offered suggestions we really enjoyed. We enjoyed our visit and hope to return.

First time here and I will definitely come back next time I am in town. I had the pork chop and tenderloin garlic potatoes. I didn't realize my plate came with mashed potatoes. Either way bout we're great. We shared the tenderloin potatoes and my coworker had the salmon. The wine choices were great and service was spectacular.

Fantastic experience. Hidden gem inside the Chase Park plaza. Beautiful stained glass windows inside the bar. We made reservations on Open Table and we're immediately seated. The restaurant was quiet and romantic. The service was superb. Our food came out quickly and was perfect. We both had steak, split creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes. Everything was stellar. To start we had the seafood dip with bread and it was excellent. Great place to get dressed up and go for a date or special occasion!

The ribeye and Brussels sprouts were amazing. Great service. Crab cakes and cheesecake were mediocre. The bread was a bit stale tasting.

The food was so good and flavorful. I had some baked salmon with some really good cream sauce and fresh green beans along with garlic mashed potatoes. The bread was so soft and the butter was so whipped and creamy as you spread it over the bread roll. These potatoes tasted like heaven they were so good omg! The service was so amazing the waitress greeted us with care and sat us in a very nice booth near the fire place area of the restaurant and if you looked on the other side was a bar and just the whole aesthetics + the good music selection on top of you could see the Chef cook the meat before they served it was also a very nice part of the restaurant. The serviced was A1 from start to finish. This restaurant is located inside of the Chase Park Plaza. It was so extremely fancy and nice I did not get any food photos but my experience was top tier and I will be back again.

The restaurant was nice but had the feel of a hotel restaurant because it is in a hotel. We were greeted nicely and were seated quickly and waited a few minutes for the waiter to take our order for drinks and appetizers. Waiter was very nice and lively but seemed to have too many tables because was hard to get his attention sometimes. After we ordered he oddly left the book size menus on the table even after bringing the drinks and appetizers? We had to flag him down to take them so we had room on table for entrées. I ordered the ribeye and had it rare plus which was a mistake on my part because the steak was not hot when I started eating it. It was not really seasoned well like it would be at Ruth's Chris or Morton's. Overall for an average price of 70 bucks for a steak I expected a better steak and most annoying was the table was not stable. So cutting the steak would make the table move every time shaking the drinks. The steaks came with whipped butter on top which should have melted on the steak! Was nice dinner because of the company but overall very average experience.

This was a 4.5 star restaurant before the pandemic, right after it reopened the reviewers say there were some bumps, but now it is back to its normal excellence. Expensive, quiet, elegant, with great food. There is a shell fish cart to order from, has been for 60 years. It isn't hard to imagine that this restaurant hasn't changed much since it opened. Hosting movie stars, royality and couples on their anniversaries through the years. It provides a quiet, intimate, conversational table experience.

3.5-4 stars 4 is rounded up because of the staff. Our server was wonderful and even recommended a wine based on us wanting to try wine outside of the US but didn't know what to try. (BTW ask for the wine list not just what you see on the menu.) So great service. Four stars for the atmosphere. The three stars go to the food. It really wasn't anything spectacular for the price which was really disappointing because I wanted to love this place. But the food was average.

Great place and in a swanky hotel? Yes please. The filet was great and the house made salad and dressing were spectacular. Everyone in town on business should give it a try. A bit pricey but worth it

I know I was just here and left a review, but I love this place. The Tenderloin Room is located in the Chase Park Plaza although independently owned. If you want to impress your lady (check the prices before hand) then bring her here. We always come here when we have a hankering for a tasty fresh greek salad. We don't know why this salad is so special, but we both love it. After the salad, I chose a plain burger with a twice baked potato. He chose a cup of the senate bean soup and the beef tenderloin tips. I'm pretty sure we almost always get the same thing whenever we come here. You know why? Because it's delicious. Why change something if it isn't broken. We also split a crème brulee that was outstanding. Would I come back here? Yes, you can find me at the bar. And that's the way it is.

The food totally surpassed our high bar expectations. Everything from the raw seafood sampler to the ice cream sundae , with the house made peanut butter and marshmallow sauces ,was fabulous. Micheal took excellent care of our party of nine. We all were impressed and plan to return Also, the woodwork has been lovingly restored to add the charm of the ambiance.

Diners beware of the Tenderloin Room. Since reopening they have made all of their entrees market price which resulted in an $86 ten ounce filet yesterday, not Wagyu just a normal filet. Check out their most recent Yelp reviews, some people were charged over $110 for a single filet. Absolutely criminal! We used to be regulars before the pandemic but no longer. A filet with a side before Covid was around $48. What's even worse is that the Pepperloin filet came out tasteless, overcooked, not seasoned and missing it's previously famous sauce. We had to ask for salt for the steak, absolute blasphemy! Such a disappointment considering we were so excited about their reopening.

We used to be regulars at The Tenderlion Room before Covid and were disappointed when they shut down. My husband and I were very excited to go back once they reopened but after eating there again WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! The portions were very small. They charged $112 for what they claimed was an 8 oz fillet. Not even at the finest restaurants in New York have I ever paid this much for an average fillet. A 4oz lobster tail was 3oz at best and they charged $65. You are better off going to Red Lobster. I FELT CHEATED AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! The atmosphere was great but not worth the price of the food. So disappointed!!

Recently reopened and beautifully appointed, new life has been breathed into one of St. Louis's most beloved steakhouses. Soft blue fabric-covered booths line the dark mahogany walls. Service is attentive and ongoing. Bread service with house made butter. Order all of the courses for full effect, and be prepared to take home leftovers. Or just get the steak this place has been famous for since the '70s and top it with butter or sauce of choice-- all are sure to be delicious! Great spot for a date or to do business. No dress code, but I'd wear something with a collar. Stroll the beautiful Chase Park Plaza hotel after you eat, or save room for a dessert at one of the other establishments in the property--or down the block in the Central West End. If you're into wine, you won't be disappointed with the Tenderloin's offerings. If you're not a meat eater, your selections will be limited, although the creamed spinach was one of our favorite tastes of the night! Bon appetite!

Had a work related dinner there on a Sunday evening. Not super busy, but not empty either. First time I had been there. Cool old school steakhouse vibe; yet also had a contemporary feel as well. Food was outstanding and service was equally great. Had shrimp cocktail, tenderloin bits wrapped in bacon, and the Ribeye (rare). Hard sear on outside and perfectly rare inside. House Old Fashioned and Chianti was excellent. My wife had the Salmon and a Sauvignon Blanc, both of which were to her liking. Would totally go back, esp for a special occasion.

My husband and I went to the tenderloin room to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious! We started out with Caesar salads which were both very good, despite the restaurant being out of romaine lettuce (they used a spring mix). The dressing really made the salad, but I look forward to trying it with romaine sometime. I ordered the pepperloin tenderloin and my husband had the New York strip - both were cooked perfectly and we loved their house sauce, but also tried the bearnaise which was also very good. The sides are big enough to share - we had mushrooms and twice baked garlic mashed potatoes and both lived up to the hype. We finished the evening with a delicious chocolate cake with ice cream (it was my birthday after all!) and they presented it with a birthday candle but thankfully didn't embarrass me with a song. The service was excellent, drinks were great, and everything came exactly as ordered. I see a lot of comments about the pricing - it is a pricy restaurant, but a great splurge for a celebration or date night.

+ Service, service, service. Perfect! Table side service appetizers are a nice touch. Table side flambé dessert always add a thrill with fire. Open kitchen but not too noisy. A place where you do not look out of places when dressed for diner. (Thanks for becoming a causal dress place) On site Chase Park Plaza hotel-dinner and a room great combo. Well prepared beef. Awesome everything. Service was great steaks melted in your mouth potatoes and mushrooms were on point.the atmosphere was elegant yet casual. Great steakhouse ! I'm going back

We went here for a special occasion and with the prices, was expecting a fantastic experience. Especially since you are connected to the Chase. From the dry rolls to the less than stellar service we were so underwhelmed. My $66 filet was not tender and our potatoes came out cold. We saw our server 3 times total. Not sure what has happened in the past 3 years but we just paid $300 for 2 people to eat here and it was not worth it. Will not be back.

Tenderloin Room Decor - 5 Star.....Absolutely beautiful Service - 5 Star....Superior and very attentive Senate Bean Soup - 4 Star.....Very pleasing but not superior Shrimp Cocktail - 0 Star....Tasteless, soft, limp, worst tasting ever!!! "Terrible " Totally INFERIOR. $15 charge was TERRIBLE Normally superior valet parking but this time filled to capacity.....I had to park my car on the street. Terrible

This is a hard review to write, but I don't feel like I have a choice. Everyone needs to be aware of what's happening at the Tenderloin Room right now. No one deserves to be blindsided. A year and a half ago I had my engagement dinner here, so this restaurant means something to me. This review isn't coming from a place of naiveté or malice. We recently returned for a birthday dinner. I want to make it clear that our servers and all the staff were great. They were kind, attentive, and fun. But their hard work was quickly overshadowed when the bill came. $114 for just a plate with two slices of beef tenderloin on it. $114 No, it didn't say it was kobe, or Japanese or even American wagyu. The menu just said tenderloin. No, it didn't include a side or a sauce. Nothing. I don't understand how a restaurant can justify the price. The national USDA weekly beef report doesn't justify it. There was no description on the menu to justify it. Instead, we and many others (as supported by recent reviews), were left shocked, speechless, and walking out of a restaurant we knew we would never patronize again. As if the $1000 bill wasn't enough, we decided to drink away our sorrows at The Chase Club, where we shared our story with the staff. We were surprised to hear in response that tenants of the building have been telling similar stories. Tenants who have gone to The Tenderloin Room for many years. Once loyal patrons who, in light of recent changes, no longer choose to dine there. So if you're reading this and you've made it this far, here are my parting words: the next time you're in the mood for some great beef, head to Tony's, Kreis' or Al's, or maybe take a trip to Chicago, or the heart of New York City. Because surely, the prices are more affordable there.

We had a wonderful dinner here last night. We shared some crab cakes and Caesar salad(which I thought was amazing but my friends did not agree). Entrees of Salmon and Filet we're enjoyed by everyone. The saucing was great with many choices. A baked potato and creamed corn with Tasso ham(amazing) we're our shared sides. And we ended the meal with a peach cobbler sundae which while very strange and not cobbler like was still tasty. The Tenderloin room does something very strange involving a seafood cart wheeled through the dining room to offer up shrimp and calamari table side. It looked unappealing and the whole process should halt. It's a tight dining area and the cart was always in the way. The dining room and bar are absolutely beautiful and we will return.

I should have read the reviews about the pricing. Nothing was listed for entrees on the menu. We were prepared to go out and spend money for a nice dinner but not this much. Charging over $100 for those portions was a joke. It would be one thing if it was wagyu, but I could have gotten the same thing else where in Saint Louis. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.

Tonight was our first visit to the revamped Tenderloin Room. Don't get me wrong; the old space was cool but dated. The team has done an amazing job not only protecting the existing spirit of the original space but have brought a new excitement to the venue. Between the four of us we had a few of the Pepperloin a la Tenderloin, the seafood special (which was red snapper tonight) and a New York Strip. All were cooked to perfection and the side choices were awesome (going from broccolini to twice baked, to fingerlings, etc...you get it). Service was over the top - attentive, but not in your face. Was there bad news to report? If there was I can't find it; the good news is we have another set of reservations in about ten days with another friend. Date night - go to this place. Business meeting - same. Hang out with your best friends - same.

Ugh, woooooow. We recently stayed at The Chase for a little staycation during some questionable winter weather, and while we originally had our eyes on The Preston, I am so glad we ended up at The Tenderloin Room. This cozy, old-school steakhouse was so perfect for a cold winter night, and the food was just outstanding. Service here is great, but a little stuffy given the old-school, formal nature. We started with a bottle of Catena Malbec which was great, but should have been a little chilled (I get sad when restaurants serve warm red wine.) It still was really wonderful and perfectly accompanied our appetizer, the smoked atlantic salmon (served with capers, olive oil, red onion, and cream cheese.) The salmon was done perfectly and it was a great way to start the meal. What you really care about: the steak. I really wanted the pepperloin a la tenderloin, but it just seemed way too big. I settled on the 8oz filet, and oh my God it was so delicious. It was cooked to a perfect medium, and was served on top of twice-baked potatoes and next to some expertly prepared green beans. When your server asks you if you want the optional steak sauce on top, say yes. When we were almost too full to move, we decided to order the cheesecake. Say yes to this as well, and enjoy it with a strong cup of coffee I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I am so grateful we were able to enjoy such a beautiful dinner in our great city.

Decided to give this place a try after the renovations and kitchen revamp. I had never previously been, so I had no expectations going into it. I have frequented many of the other local St. Louis steakhouses: Fleming's, 801, Capital, Ruth's, Morton's, Citizen Kane's and even the new Kemoll's Chophouse. My experience at The Tenderloin Room is benchmarking it against these other established steakhouses. Started the evening with a few glasses of wine. Very good selection and prices in-line with other establishments. 5/5. $10-$12/glass. First course was a salad. I opted for the Caesar, and I was very underwhelmed by the portion. It would quite possibly the smallest salad portion I have ever been served. Tasted great regardless of price. $9-12 salad options. 3/5 Value, 4.5/5 taste Next course went right into the steaks. They serve only Prime, which is fantastic. I typically opt for a Ribeye cut. The lone ribeye option was a Cowboy 22oz, which was listed as market price. I would have liked to see another non-cowboy option on the menu. It was served precut and cooked to request. Most of the steaks were priced in the $40-50 range. The cowboy ended up being $80, and I blame myself for not asking MP before ordering. I would have opted for the filet or strip at that price. It comes with 2 sides, but seems outrageously priced and almost like a trap since it was the only Ribeye option, and I'd guess most steak lovers opt for Ribeye cuts. They have a house sauce, similar to maybe an A1 which was just eh. 4/5 taste, 3/5 value. Overall, food was ok but I will not be coming back. I'd dine at any of the other options listed above before coming back. Overall 3.5/5.
