I’m giving The Tess a 5-star rating solely because of the staff, who genuinely did everything they could to provide a 5-star experience. Unfortunately, the hotel itself does not live up to its brand, its pricing, or the standard its team works so hard to uphold.
The positives:
The rooms are visually appealing, the shower has excellent water pressure and volume, and the bed and furnishings are comfortable and attractive.
Where the hotel falls short:
The curtains do not fully close, making the room far too bright for restful sleep.
The furniture is unusually low, to the point where it feels like sitting on the floor.
I booked two rooms, and at $446 each with taxes and upcharges, they were significantly overpriced for the overall experience.
Most concerning, there were two incorrect charges on my bill—one for $60 and another for $1,093—neither of which were mine.
I worked with Dienabou B., the front desk manager, to resolve the billing issues. She was consistently pleasant, professional, and genuinely committed to helping. She deserves a 5-star rating on her own. The hotel’s internal procedures, however, deserve much less. She provided documentation confirming the charges would be removed, and as of today, they have been cleared from my credit card.
While the staff truly tries, the hotel itself feels disorganized and is not meeting the standards its pricing suggests.
