New Restaurant Park Opens Next to Austin FC’s Soccer Training Facility | Eater Austin

"A tightly focused burger concept centered on a single wagyu cheeseburger made with beef from a nearby ranch, paired with a fried chicken sandwich; the concise menu is rounded out by house sauces, fries, and a salad." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
You've got to try their Philly Cheesesteak! It's delicious, and if you pair it with either fries or onion rings (or a combination of the two), you will gorge yourself if you're not careful. Servings are plentiful, and the food is always hot and fresh. The gentleman who delivers the food is always smiling, helpful and friendly. An A+ establishment.

AJ D.

Google
Typical burger joint and they also have chili. Clean restaurant. They have moved locations but they have been around forever.

Google
Good turkey burgers, veggie burgers, and chicken sandwiches with a decent selection of toppings and were all satisfying. Onion rings were very good and the fries were just normal. Milkshake was good, but smaller than expected for the cost. The soup of the day (chicken noodle soup) was very delicious. Family owned with very friendly service. Restaurant was clean and has a very nice atmosphere. Small parking lot in front with ample spaces.

Google
Love this spot! Such great service and awesome burgers! And a great milkshake! Definitely a favorite in freeport! I had a small issue with my online order and the staff had it fixed right away!

Google
Love coming here! I’m leaving the review now because even though I haven’t picked up my food yet, I already know I’ll have the best dining experience ever, because I always do.

John M.

Google
The secret sauce is mayo. Burger was fine, but I probably don't need to go again.

Janine Saunders H.

Google
Amazing place. Would definitely eat there again. Food is fresh. Prepared once you get there. Friendly staf there. The atmosphere was amazing.

Marcin C.

Google
The place is surprisingly good. From outside it looks just ok, it’s a bit warm inside for summer time heat… but the service is awesome and food is purely amazing. I would definitely recommend if you’re in the area

Yelp
7/18/25. Ordered $171.63 worth of food and not even a smile from Sheila. Ordering was less than enjoyable. We received all items but they were not cooked as requested (see pic). Food was average.

Yelp
Food is great! Fries and burger very fresh and tasty. Only downside the restaurant is FREEZING cold!
google avatar

Frank G.

Yelp
It's hard to pull off good burgers and hotdogs. It's not the case with The Texas Ranger. The hotdog had a good snap, and the chili had a perfect amount of heat. The onion rings had a good crunch and weren't too greasy. They also have awesome shakes and tasty fries and burgers. They also have verified burgers! I highly suggest this place! Great food for a very good price!

S C C.

Yelp
I really wanted to like it. Had the whole office order. Not only did they get 3 of the 6 orders wrong the food was ice cold and was very bland. It was absolutely freezing in the restaurant as well. Noticed multiple people come and go due to this reason. Last concern is don't have and offer a lunch special and then charge full price.

Jeanie W.

Yelp
The Texas Ranger is my go to for home delivery of delicious cheeseburgers, fries, fish and chips, and gyros! You'll need lots of napkins for their burgers, so juicy and covered with pickles, tomatoes, or any variety of toppings you could wish for. Their delivery service is great! My food always arrives piping hot and with a great big smile from the driver. The Texas Ranger also gives you points if you order from them directly, which you can use for free food, and their prices are more than reasonable. Don't miss out on this gem!

Yelp
I haven't been to the Texas Ranger since they were located by the Freeport train station. So I was nearby and tried out there chili burger and there Hamburger special. The chili burger was not as I remembered it but it was pretty good. Maybe if I ate it there it might have been better. But the Hamburger Special was just a I remember delicious. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and my order came out promptly. And the prices weren't bad neither.

Yelp
My mom was in the area and I looked on yelp for something to pick up for lunch on her way back. I saw this place figured to try it out. Omg what a good burger, messy but so so so good. That special burger just omg. It was so random and last minute decision to order from here the other day and I will always be so happy we did. My husband missed out so we'll just have to eat from here again soon :P

Yelp
Excellent burgers. Two burgers tried the Astoria and The Texas Ranger Special. Astoria came with a brioche bun and cheese crumbels on the side and was great. The Texas Ranger was very fresh with slaw on top of burger. Fries were good along side it all. Top tier spot here.
google avatar

Xavier P.

Yelp
Owner provided subpar service, Customer service skills really a 0/10. Don't waste your time going here.
google avatar

Pat R.

Yelp
Staff was pleasant and conscientious. Burgers cooked to order and tasty. Sides were very good too. The Texas Ranger Special burger was served with very fresh meat, slau and special sauce and more. Shakes were delicious and a good value. Only negative- Demerits for styrofoam packaging on To go orders.

Melinda

Yelp
I highly recommend tater tot's,!! If Americanized foods is your most fave ethnic foods in general this restaurant is ideal for you

Kevin S.

Yelp
Terrible service to go with a terrible burger. Fries had pubic hair in it..... save your money and just go to bk so you can At least have it to your way
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Love this place. In area weekly and usually too early for a burger but schedule has changed and I've now gotten a burger 3 out of last 4 weeks. It's fresh as it gets with a great bun. Grabbed fries last time and although piping hot and fresh were not my favorite variety. Girl behind counter is more than pleasant and the guys behind the counter seem to take pride in what they do. I've gotten the Ranger special and it's a little sloppy but rapped on paper old school so you can contain the juices. Looking forward to going back many more times and maybe even try something else.

Yelp
Great little hole in the wall spot located centrally within Freeport. They have pub/diner style fare for everyone, so if a burger, grilled cheese, chili cheese dogs and a couple of milk shakes are your thing, you've got it all under one roof. Prices are very reasonable and the folks here are fast and friendly to boot!

Randy W.

Yelp
Service here is horrible, the owner is rude and disrespectful. Would never recommend with his attitude. Should learn how to speak to people before running a business. There are tons of burger spots with better quality meat right in the same area. Don't waste your time here. Would give them 0 stars to be honest.
google avatar

Ed G.

Yelp
You get what you pay for -- and here, you get a delicious burger made with a superb quality meat. So many options, but I usually opt for the Ranger Special Burger (shredded cabbage, tomato, onion and white sauce) which reminds me of when my mom & dad used to take me to their original location in Island Park as a kid. Fries are crispy, and they have great meal specials when you go in.

Yelp
I live in Rockville Centre, with at least 5 burger places in walking distance... and I still drive to Freeport every time for The Weekender. It's my all time favorite. It has cheese, hash browns, bacon and a fried egg on it. I think about this burger on a daily basis, if I'm being honest. It's delicious. Their shakes are great. Loveeeee their onion rings and the fries are good too. The place is small but the service is fast. The people who work there are friendly. Don't forget to tell them how you like your burger cooked, they don't always ask. (If you do happen to forget, they won't overcook it, you'll get it medium.) I have been here at least a dozen times and it's always been everything I would ever want. And you'll spend less than half what you would end up spending in Rockville Centre, and you'll be at least twice as happy.
google avatar

Yelp
Great for a quick lunch. Doesn't look like much, but the food is good. Everyone is cheerful and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
My first time at The Texas Ranger, the woman at the front was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Texas Ranger Burger, with fries, and a caramel milkshake. My wife ordered the Tex Mex Burger with waffle fries and a Oreo milkshake. The burger patty is a little thinner than some other burger places, but both burgers were delicious. The fries were crunchy and delicious, and the milk shakes were great. Much more reasonably priced than the other burger places in the area. Glad we tried it, we will definitely be back to try more options (specifically the BBC for me).

Erikka O.

Yelp
I ordered the fish sandwich. The sandwich was microwaved after it was fried. My lettuce were brown and hot. The bun was hot but hard (characteristics of being microwaved). I DON't recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a fresh meal. If you want leftovers this is tour place.
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
Great little burger spot. Got the Ranger special and the chili special, both very tasty. Burgers came out pretty quickly. Cashier was friendly. I can't think of anything negative about my trip here. Would stop by again for sure.
google avatar

Shayla T.

Yelp
They're usually pretty good. Decent burgers and fish. Family likes the wings. Tonight I ordered a fish special sandwich to-go. Got home and opened it...no top bun. How does that even happen?
google avatar

Perth P.

Yelp
I like Texas ranger. The Philly cheese steak is good. Food comes quickly and the girl and the front is warm and welcoming. I've had burgers there as well. It's a good spot. I'll recommend and def go back myself.

Yelp
Driving down Atlantic Avenue in Freeport some months back, my wife let out a little shriek of joy when she saw the sign for "Texas Ranger" being lifted into place. She informed me how the Texas Ranger was a staple of childhood and she was so hoping it was going to be the same as she'd remembered. Always up for a burger joint, I gleefully volunteered to get takeout. We both ordered the Ranger Burger, fries and I got a Chili w/Cheese. The Chili was good, but not too flavorful. The Burger was buried under a mountain of Cole-Slaw, which I understand is a thing and was listed on the menu, but it's just not for me. The fries were good, but not as good as Five Guys or BurgerFi. Overall, it was an average burger experience that may be improved (at least in my estimation) by forgoing the coleslaw topping.
google avatar

Priscilla R.

Yelp
New resident of Long Island. Must say this place is neatly tuck away on Bayview ave. If you're not paying attention you'll drive right passed it. The Texas Ranger more then Burgers, Chili definitely carry more. I had the " Ranger Burger" topped with shredded cabbage, tomato, onion, Special sauce, and seasonings. Order of Onion rings., that came in a cup. How Classic is that. Unless refills on your favorite beverage. Staffing was very pleasant. Atmosphere is cozy.
google avatar

Dianna M.

Yelp
This was my mom's favorite place when she was a kid, and she talked about their "special burger" for years (since they weren't around when I was growing up). She even tried to make her own version, but they don't compare. As soon as they opened she sped over and bought me my first special. We loved them. This year I threw her a surprise dinner at Texas Ranger for her 65th birthday! She loved it- they staff helped us set up and even played Happy Birthday over the loud speakers! Best burger place ever!
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Heard a lot about their Ranger Burger special that is topped with basically coleslaw so initially I was excited to try the place. It's a little expensive and you have to get fries as an added side so I wasn't thrilled about that but if it was good food, I wouldn't let it bother me. Fries were mediocre, tasted like the freezer. Then the burgers came, they looked good but upon a closer look I noticed a black piece of hair on one of the burgers. Immediately lost my appetite but I tried the other burger. The coleslaw/cabbage with white sauce didn't have much flavor so it was just a messy bland burger that fell apart because of too much sauce. The idea is there but is not well executed. I'm surprised this place has a strong following.

Josephine J.

Yelp
I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and it tasted so good at first. The woman behind the counter was really sweet. The wait was wasn't too long. But a few hours later ... IT TURNED BAD! I got food poisoning and I was throwing up and had a awful stomach ache for the rest of the day and most of the next and luckily now I'm finally feel better.
google avatar

Jas T.

Yelp
I like to think of myself as a burger connoisseur so when I saw this place was so close to home I had to try. The first time I tried it I got the Santa Fe burger that was more guacamole than anything else. I asked for well done and got rare. I kept my disgust to myself and just decided I'd be quiet and not order from here again. But I believe in second chances and tried it again today .. bad idea . I asked for the Ranger Special burger (with cheese, and they acted like this was an obscene request when I asked), but I ended up getting a plate full of sauce. Literally! I added a pic because there's just no way I can put this into words. At least the fries were good and hot or I would've gone to bed hungry . There won't be a next time, and for future reference ask for sauce on the side unless you want burger soup!!
google avatar

Ellen H.

Yelp
The woman at the counter was not friendly at all. No hello, may I help you, no smile, no thank you. Food was not anything special.
google avatar

Maxamillion D.

Yelp
My mom mentioned Texas Ranger being the place to go when she was younger in Freeport. So When I needed to use my Groupon bucks, I went there with my friend and our daughters. The food was ok , the burger was a little underdone for us. I understand the way it's cooked based on juiciness but everyone isn't a fan. We got 4 build your own burgers, 2 regular fry,1 sweet potato fry, 1 onion ring, 2 shakes and 2 drinks. All of the food was basic & the Shakes are made with sauce instead of flavored ice cream. Overall, it's a simple place with friendly and accommodating staff but I wouldn't return.
google avatar

Nysel J.

Yelp
Eh... the burgers aren't that amazing and I think it's a little pricy for what you get. Fries aren't even included in the price of the burger.

David M.

Yelp
I ordered two lunch specials $7.99. Turkey burger and Buffalo grilled chicken. The wait was 25 minutes long, but In the end the wait was worth it. mom is very picky with her food, she really enjoyed her Turkey Burger and I enjoyed my grilled chicken. And the fries were crunchy and Yumm flav. ( first time here )
google avatar

Jean-Pierre R.

Yelp
I discovered this place house and pet sitting for a friend in Freeport. I have to start with the aptly named Weekender burger. It's a burger with American cheese, an over easy egg, hash brown and bacon. It's as delicious as sit sounds. Their wings are pretty good too, great for watching any sporting event. Their fries are OK, not great but not bad. If you're in Freeport definitely check this place out.
google avatar

BigBob B.

Yelp
You have to try this place. It's just a little burger joint, but a very good little burger joint. It may border on fast food, but it's done with a personal touch. They have a number of different burgers, all priced under six bucks, and no extra charges for toppings. They also have a 'Greek Ranger', their version of a gyro, which is as good as that of any gyro place east of Astoria. Their sides, in our case, fries and onion rings, were good as well, and the cups they are served in are merely a suggestion of the quantity you get, just like at Five Guys. The Texas Ranger is not fancy, but it's clean, and there is sufficient parking. It also does a brisk take out business. Give it a try. You won't go wrong.

Mike S.

Yelp
I stopped by for a burger tonight and it was outstanding. I got the Freeporter - bacon, onions, cheddar and it was in the top 3 burgers I've ever had. Fries were very good as well. Prices are very reasonable for fresh cooked to order food. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area.
google avatar

Marty S.

Yelp
So glad to find this place. The Texas Ranger is synonymous with the Village of Freeport, a south shore community on Long Island, NY. Classic burgers and dogs with all the trimmings. Try The Special, a burger with cabbage, lettuce, tomato and special sauce. The French fries are outstanding. A healthy portion served up with our order. To top it off a chocolate milk shake just as good as the good old days. A pleasant but casual atmosphere, the staff here know just about everyone who walks through the door. If you're looking for something different, get yourself to The Texas Ranger. You'll be glad you stopped by.
google avatar

Tanisha A.

Yelp
We've been coming to Texas ranger for a few months now and loved it. Now, we order a simple order like French fries and found a hair in my fries. It's so disappointing not only because I lost my appetite immediately, but we won't be dining there anymore.
google avatar

Florenz C.

Yelp
I ordered over 200 wings for the super bowl. Bbq, Buffalo, spicy and plain. The wings did not last an hour. Food is great. Next following week I ordered 100. My go to spot from now on. A ok with me!
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
Great place for a burger. Quality meat used and friendly staff. You will enjoy the food here!
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
If you grew up on the south shore of Long Island in the sixties, it's a good chance you knew of this hamburger joint on N Main St in Freeport. It had one hell of a burger. The sauce was top secret, protected by the guy behind the grill with his 38special strapped on his hip in clear sight. I guess it was a tough neighborhood even back then. Through time it has come and gone in a couple of locations and has never been quite duplicated. It now has been resurrected at its current location. And the Ranger special has been revitalized to "almost" perfection. Although you'll find some adaptations to other tastes, the Ranger burger, unadulterated, is King. Thanks for continuing my childhood favorite....
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
I remember this place from back in the day. You used to get a special for 25 cents. Years later the special is $4.29. What a difference years make. The cooks are some of the same folks. I pray the taste is the same. Yummy
google avatar

Frank V.

Yelp
Love it! Great burgers, Chilli, fries ect. I can't believe people are complaining about the prices since it's real food unlike McD's ect. It costs around the same as 5 guys or jakes Wayback but imo it's much better! Hopefully they'll open one closer to me soon!
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to writing a 5-star review of the long-anticipated opening of an iconic Freeport family busintess. Sadly, the food was sub-par in all ways. We ordered a Ranger Burger, which is house cole slw and tomato with a burger on a roll. That was so-so, saved only by the slaw. The regular hamburgers were bland and completely unremarkable. The french fries were cold. (after only a 1 minute drive) In adition, the fries were tasteless. The only things that saved a 1-star review was the cleanliness and the friendly staff. I won't be back for quite awhile, if they stay open at all. I sure hope that they get their act together in a hurry. We went at 6:00 pm and the plave was relatively empty.
google avatar

Chris Z.

Yelp
Ate there twice so far, the burgers are good, weird they don't have a few suggestions on what toppings to put on. I'd rather go to burger-fi or five guys down the road. There cheaper and definitely a little better. I mean $3.79 for fries? If you get a burger fries and a drink it comes to like 13 bucks , $6 bacon cheeseburger , 4 $ fries and 3 $ drink ( little do they know that the glass Pepsi bottles they sell are sold around the block at compare supermarkets for 75 cents apiece .) Overall good if your in the area but if you have 10 more min hit up something else
google avatar

Kenny S.

Yelp
For what they charge.......Something will have to change! 3.79 for frozen fries? 4.29 for a burger with cole slaw on it 10 bucks plus with a soda.... My first vsit and very average and the food just ok 28.50 for 4 burgers and 2 fries.....no sodas. Yikes!!

Amanda V.

Yelp
Following up to my previous review, now a solid 4 stars. I have been very happy with all my pick up orders from here. There is still a lot of burgers I would like to try, especially since it seems they have recently updated there menu a bit. I continue to really enjoy the chill (no beans) even though it is a bit oily. I appreciate that you can add the toppings for no extra charge. My favorite burger is still the Bleu burger. I have also tried their wings with spicy bbq sauce and they were large and tasty. Onion rings are great. The fries with cheese and gravy understandably get soggy on the way home, but still had nice flavor. Service has always been friendly and efficient for me.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
Terrible experience. The lady at the counter was very rude and not even smile. Overall the customer service was disgusting. We will definitely NOT coming back here.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
My new favorite burger place. Great food made fresh while you wait. I didn't know they had a call ahead so I will definitely use it next time.
