This Dominican Brew From the Bronx May Be the Strongest Cup of Coffee in NYC - Eater NY

"Héctor Carvajal is a 25-year-old Dominican immigrant with a coffee company in the Bronx. He lives with his mother in a two-bedroom, $543-a-month apartment in the Parkside public housing project along the Bronx River Parkway. In a city of eight million people — roughly nine percent of whom are Dominican, according to the US Census — Don Carvajal Cafe, has only 6,177 Instagram followers, and his coffee itself has a flitting existence at pop-ups, farmers markets, and coffee shops. Yet his brew is consumed and adored by an impressive fan base made up of some of the city’s most powerful people." - Richard Morgan

What a great treat for our neighborhood! Great coffee, good music playing and they even had some delicious looking pastries. I had a Latte with oat milk and it was excellent!

You ARE the change we wanna see in this world! You guys are doing incredible incredible work- I'm gonna pass on this shop to everyone I meet. So great that you are local and focused on helping your community in such a selfless way.... makes other business look kinda greedy haha You are a model for me and everyone else. Thank you Besides this, your coffee is absolutely delicious. Will make a special trip up at least 3 times a month to see you (coming from Harlem) because you deserve it

Great coffee with great aesthetics & vibes; what more could you ask for? Still early in it’s conception, I’m sure there will be a lot to anticipate from this café. You can tell that it was built by the community, for the community, which is exactly what we need to foster a stronger Bronx community. Thanks for the great coffee and hospitality!

Don't feel ashamed if you never thought that you could get a pour over coffee right after coming off the Willis Avenue Bridge in the South West Bronx. You will be forgiven. Fortunately, it's true. With an hour and a half to go before officiating a wedding nearby, I asked Siri to take me to a coffee roaster. Sure enough, she did! This is a really nice place, and Hector makes pour overs, among other coffee drinks. He even roasts the beans. It's a really wonderful block, that stretch of Alexander Avenue is. Lots of good eats there. Hector deserves your business. It's also rather quiet in there.

I don’t really have stars to give… this review is not about a rating but more of a question. I am wondering what happened to this spot. It started off strong with lots of potential to grow. The coffee was good until it wasn’t. I used to see community members involved and people always there but now I don’t. What happened to the thinkubator?

10/10 would recommend this space to have a coffee and/or sit to catch up on work! I work from home and needed a space like this to have a different environment outside of my bedroom. Hector is super friendly and accommodating, too! I'll definitely be coming back.

Great environment to be in to get some good tasting coffee and get some work done! This place succeeds at making it feel like a second home with the attentive and welcoming staff. Definitely coming back whenever I'm in the area.

Highly recommend! Had their espresso twice already and without a doubt it’s amazing. Saw they had a great selection of pastries and I can’t wait to try them!

Yelp
The coffee was amazing when we came but the store hasn't been opened since. If this establishment is closed please update this help!

Yelp
Came here during an after hours event. 4 stars is for the potential this place has and for building up this area of the Bronx with more cafes. I get tired of going all the way to BK for caffeine, pastries and a good vibe. Unfortunately, the event was before Thinkubator was open for business, so I am really hoping and expecting a comfortable, chill space. Can't wait to pass by to update this review! Oh, and parking out front can be a bit** with so many other popular, surrounding businesses. Try going around the corner or a block down at least. No parking garage in site.

Yelp
I will continue to patron this coffee shop in the south Bronx. It's very difficult to find energetic & friendly service with a smile. The barista at this coffee shop took time to explain the various blends of coffee... Such as the Dominicana, and the Brazil amongst a few. The conversation was light and centered around coffee flavors and regions. I was also offered suggestions about the restaurants in the community. The coffee itself was absolutely delicious, flavorful, robust and smooth. I highly recommend this establishment. It is small- but it is a total gem in Sobro.
