How to Visit Scotland's Inner Hebrides—No Sailing Experience Required | Condé Nast Traveler

"On Skye I found Paul Green’s The Three Chimneys to remain firmly in critics’ and in‑the‑know eaters’ favor for brilliantly prepared seafood, and I noted a new offshoot now open at the Talisker whisky distillery in Carbost." - Alexander Barlow

Mesmerizing Experience full of Stupendous Beauty, Charm & Warm Embrace encompassing A Most Inviting Atmosphere at The Three Chimneys at Talisker in Carbost, isle of Skye. The Maitre d’ and the staff were ever so friendly and polite : A True Reflection of Scottish Hospitality. It’s one of the Most Magical Locations right on Loch Harport. We sat outside on the deck enjoying so many Osyter Talisker Whisky Cheers. Impeccable Food Presentation and absolutely delectable to the Palette. La Magnifique.

During our week-long trip to the stunning Isle of Skye, we had the pleasure of dining at The Three Chimneys to celebrate my partner’s 40th birthday, and it truly exceeded all expectations. The food was nothing short of exceptional. Although we don’t typically indulge in full-course meals, we found ourselves unable to resist the temptation to keep ordering. The highlight was undoubtedly the haggis, neeps, and tatties, which was prepared to perfection and presented beautifully. The cranachan was a delightful finish, balancing sweetness and texture wonderfully. My partner raved about the lamb, declaring it the best he had ever tasted, while the sticky toffee pudding was equally memorable—rich, moist, and utterly indulgent. The atmosphere added to the experience, with the restaurant situated next to the water and the charming sight of sheep wandering nearby. It created a relaxed and picturesque setting that complemented the meal perfectly. Moreover, the staff were incredibly warm and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our visit. I wholeheartedly recommend The Three Chimneys at Talisker to anyone visiting the Isle of Skye. It’s an experience that will linger in our memories long after the trip is over.

Excellent. My only disappointment was that there was no grilled fish option, the only option was battered goujons. Having said that, the food was tasty and well prepared. Hubby had rump, which was tender and juicy with an excellent pepper sauce. I must give top marks for the chips, really delicious and crispy. Overall a lovely experience in a great location. We got lucky with the sun coming out in time for dessert. We were kindly moved to the outside seating for our lemon posset(could have been a bit more lemony) and sticky toffee pudding(delicious). A worthwhile visit.

As a treat to end our visit to Skye, we chose the Three Chimneys as our last hurrah! The staff made the venue, Jess in particular. They were all so friendly and polite. The food was delicious, the mushroom arancini was definitely a highlight!

Nice little restaurant at Talisker. The food and service was great. I wish they had more vegetarian options. Sticky toffee pudding was spectacular.

Great experience, delicious food and nice chatty service. It is bit fancy for tourists, but food was great. Defeat try something local, food is made from local ingredients.

We called ahead to confirm our reservation and were told to come 15 minutes earlier because the kitchen was about to close which already felt a bit rushed. Once there, the service was fine, but nothing really stood out. The food was just okay. My fish and chips portion was quite small and lacked any real flavor ( one piece is missing coz i’ve eaten it before making a picture). Overall, it was an average experience.

I thought I'd find a nice restaurant by the Talisker distillery, but lunch was disappointing. It started with a service that did not highlight options for tasting whisky, and a short and uninspiring menu. We had a few oysters that were very fresh, and black pudding bon bons. This was the best part of the meal. The fish goujons were few and most of the plate was thick cut potatoes. Basic and unremarkable. We shared a cranachan for desert that was just ok. For me, not worth the trip.
