"Large fireplaces, stone floors and whitewashed walls feature inside this renovated 17C pub. The pared-back décor is joined by similarly straightforward and equally appealing cooking that includes hearty dishes like rabbit pie and mince on toast. This approach allows the ingredients to speak for themselves, with local Somerset produce a feature. Five bedrooms add to the inn’s appeal, as do an attractive terrace and small walled garden." - Michelin Inspector

A lovely cozy pub. My wife and I popped in for dinner as we were staying in the local area. The staff were welcoming and accommodating despite it being a busy Friday evening. The food was excellent. All beautifully cooked with well balanced flavours. We had the Tuna Taco, Mushroom Bao, Fish Curry, Lamb Rump & Crumble and Frangipane. With a drink each it was about £50 per person. Would very happily come back. 🙂

Lovely 2 tiered garden area, perfect for dog owners. Dogs also allowed in the interior and there are seats out front. Very well kept. We ate twice here : vegetable burger ( amazing!) and veg pad Thai ( incredible). Wonderful pub in a most beautiful village.

The best pub lunch we have had in many many years.. found by chance whilst walking along the SW coast path… the atmosphere was extremely friendly & welcoming and well the food is amazing… I love my desserts but normally won’t pay as the quality never lives up to expectations… this was not the case here… after my main I was convinced dessert would also be incredible 🌟 we had the seafood ploughman’s, home made burger and sticky toffee pudding with a couple of pints… a small but welcome touch was I did not have to ask for water it was provided on the table as soon as we mentioned we were eating 👍👍

Lovely food and dog friendly! Excellent service from the staff who are very helpful and friendly, gave the dog a biscuit and water on the table. Homemade burger was huge, as was the fish & chips! Beautiful desserts, would 100% recommend 😊

We've just visited for the last time this year. Having a caravan locally we always visit this gem of a pub, which serves local ales from Palmers alongbwith locally sourced food, and talking of food. Oh my word. We had the Sunday roast, the boss, pork and me, lamb. I can honestly, hand on heart, swear that this was the best pub Sunday meal I've ever had. The taste was impeccable. I was gutted when requesting another meal for sweet was not allowed, therefore I had the cheese board. Again, WOW, The cheddar 'Black Cow' another locally sourced, pallet pleasing gem. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal and wish you all the best for Christmas (i know, its early) and a very prosperous 2026. Well see you again next year.

Lovely local pub. Beers are great. Staff are friendly. Ample seating. Really nice vibe & the Palmers selection of ales/pales & Dorset Lager was great. A little on pricey side but worth it. Didn’t get the chance to eat unfortunately. All tables were booked out. We’ll revisit when back in the area

Fantastic food..and very friendly and helpful staff..the pubs absolutely stunning..with history cemented in the walls..lots of great stories to be told about a certain snug corner in the old part of the pub...just ask the land lady or landlord...👻

Lovely Sunday lunch. Was unable to sample food in weekday nights because we hadn't booked ahead. Bar space crowded, locals friendly, staff friendly and helpful. Good selection of beers and ciders including low alcohol options.

Yelp
Sometimes you get pleasantly surprised when you expect ok food and you get good food. But when you expect good food and you get great food, that's a real happy meal!!! The food was great, the service excellent, as was the pub itself. Certainly worth the visit! Thanks Jaap!
