First, let me say that I’m not a sports bar person bc I’m not that into sports, however this is not your average sports bar- it’s more than that. I am a people person and I love to hang out. They’ve got games machines and great people at that! The owners are the nicest and down-to-earth people. I had The Shakedown and my wife had the special pumpkin drink. We enjoyed them so much! The Throwback UWS is an absolute gem and instantly became my new favorite spot on the Upper West Side. It truly lives up to its name, offering a delightful trip down memory lane without feeling forced. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is electric yet cozy, making it perfect for a casual drink, a date night, or catching up with friends. The decor is meticulously curated—think classic memorabilia, neon signs, and just the right amount of vintage charm that makes you want to look around every corner. The soundtrack they play is pure gold, instantly lifting your mood and setting a fun, relaxed tone. But the experience isn't just about the ambiance; the service is phenomenal. Our server was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive without hovering. As for the food and drinks, they've perfected the blend of comfort classics and modern twists. The cocktails were creative and delicious, and the kitchen clearly cares about quality. If you’re looking for a place with character, fantastic vibes, and a genuinely warm welcome, look no further than The Throwback UWS. My family of five, including a 5-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 3-month-old , had a wonderful experience at The Throwback NYC. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and extremely accommodating to our little ones: they helped arrange seating for the stroller, provided extra napkins, and were patient with requests kid-friendly meal options. The atmosphere struck a great balance between lively and family-friendly, with its retro-sports décor and relaxed vibe, it felt comfortable without being chaotic. The food and drinks exceeded expectations too: tasty, satisfying meals and an easygoing bar menu , perfect for parents who want a meal out while still keeping an eye on young kids. Overall, The Throwback made what could have been a stressful outing into a fun, relaxing, and memorable family dinner. Highly recommend it for parents looking for a casual, kid-accommodating spot on the Upper West Side.

My new FAVORITE sports bar. Awesome drinks. The food is fantastic. Staff are super nice. Reasonably priced. I’m going in there so much, I’m pretty sure I’ve paid their rent this month. Also met the owners, great people. They’re transplants from the south, so of course they treat you like family right when you walk in the door. 1000/10

We had the absolute best time here! Owners Alex and Brittni were so flexible and easy to work with. We hosted a party for about 20 people downstairs and it was perfect. The space is great, it felt like being in our own living room. Michael, the bartender, was helpful all afternoon making sure drinks were filled! The team made it easy for our friends with kids with all the games. Overall, we love The Throwback!!!

Mary Grace was amazing! She noticed right away that we weren’t enjoying our drinks without us even having to say anything. She went above and beyond to fix them and make sure we were happy. She also reminded us to make ourselves comfortable and truly made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Excellent service — we’ll definitely be coming back because of her!

I came here for the Michigan vs Ohio State rivalry game and the energy was perfect. The place was energetic but not loud and sloppy. I had a great meal at the bar and enjoyed how everyone was invested in the drama of the game. I’ll definitely be back.

What a beautiful new spot on the UWS. You want a game to watch? they got it. You want a beer? they got it, you want delicious food? They got it!!! Can't recommend this place enough!!! You will be happy you went!!!

Friendly staff and a great place to watch a game with all the beverages and tasty food! When you arrive here, you are one of the gang.

This neighborhood needed this place. But, it gets better - the people who work here are so lovely to one another - as well as embracing the patrons. That sounds so formal - because this is a place that is so chill and welcoming. I was 2nd customer - and proud - have been here more times to count. You can hang, you can play pinball, you can read, you can watch sports or chat with all the awesome people on both sides of the bar. Haven't had food except for fries and they might change your life. Depending on your life, I guess. The ones to ask for are Michael, Demetris, Annabelle, Alex (owner)...these are the ones I've just met.

This place is very cool spot with great bartenders. I would highly recommend checking it out. John and Mason are the best bartenders around.
