"Those looking for something quick but different should check at this colorful sandwich shop located in the heart of downtown Grand Haven. The menu features a unique selection of sandwiches, soups, and salads all of which can be packed for a day at the beach. Options like the Italian Bomber (salami, Michigan ham, local bologna, aged provolone, spicy giardiniera, lettuce, tomato, red onion and aioli) are very well constructed." - Naomi Waxman, Titus Ruscitti

Google
We are there during the slow period, between 3-4, and the vibe was great! Had the Sixtie from Dixie" (their spelling, not mine) and it was delicious! Great little spot for lunch! Prices were good for Grand Haven too!

Google
The food is absolutely terrific here. We tried to Nashville Hottie, the Sixie on Dixie, the Black Jack, and the gooey grilled cheese. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Absolutely delicious sandwiches, I highly recommend it if you’re in Grand Haven. There’s also a great brewery across the street called Odd Side where they will personally deliver your orders so you can enjoy some great local beer as well! Definitely check this place out.

The food is amazing and for those foodies out there and are exploring like I was today they offer half sandwiches and items so you could try different things! The food was amazing but man that freshly hand squeezed lemonade was to die for I ended up buying the 64oz Growler 😂! Worth every cent! My picture was taken after already taking a bite lmao!

Fine food. Fine pricing. Interesting nachos. Ordered the Nashville Hottie. From the name and description, it’s supposed to be sweet and spicy. But it was all sweet and no spice at all. The chicken was on the dry side and had little to no seasoning. The flavor was entirely reliant on the sauce. I was a little let down. But the batter and crispness was on point. The bread tasted so good, along with the coleslaw. Maybe don’t get this if you want spice. I forget what it was called, but it was a grilled cheese with Avacado in it with a side of tomato. Best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. Again, the bread was perfect. Perfect toast level, butter application, and cheese selection. The Avacado was a great addition. Must try. Pulled pork nachos… again very sweet (not my thing). And they don’t use tortilla chips, they use kettle chips. That was my biggest gripe. Some people may like the chips they use, not me personally. It didn’t really go together, imo. But everything else about it is great. Not much seating inside. So get ready to sit next to strangers. Great service though. Overall: 7.9/10

Google
Really enjoyed our visit to Toasted Pickle today. We tried the Italian Bomber and the High Nooner, both were excellent. I love a good deli, and Toasted Pickle is one. The portions are large, so we like that they offer half options for some of the sandwiches. The beer battered fries were very good as well. There's quite a bit of seating packed into the small indoor dining area, but it can still be difficult to find a seat when it's busy. Service was fast and friendly. We will absolutely return!

Google
We enjoyed our experiences. We ordered to go so we can watch the sunset. Sandwich were good. The waffle fries were yummy. Services were good and didn't have to wait for long. Definitely a good fine for our trip.

Google
Our family of 7 ate here yesterday, June 13, 2024 after a beautiful walk to the light house here in Grand Haven. Not only was ordering process super easy, the food was ready on time and was excellent. There were multiple comments from our group about how good the food was. We will definitely be back!

Google
Honestly came to Grand Haven on a whim, we were visiting from out of state and did zero research before coming. Looked like a cool spot for lunch. Walked in and saw a lady eating a grilled sandwich of sorts with pesto sauce. Knew I wanted it before looking at the rest of the menu. I ordered the Green Goddess Grilled Cheese just the half and a full order of the beer battered fries to share. They give you a side of tomato soup for dipping which was the perfect amount. My husband panic ordered the Italian bomber, he doesn’t even like hoagie rolls, tomato or bologna! He inhaled it and loved it. It was quite a wait for the food but we’ll worth the wait. I’m sad we didn’t get to try more.

Garret H.

Yelp
We saw the memorial plaques, and heard people talk about this place. Well we ordered the pickle poppers. They were like pickle wedges in an egg roll wrap. Excellent!!!

Minna M.

Yelp
We came here after a day at the beach. The inside dining area was full but they had the outside window open for ordering. There was a small line but it moved very quickly. We ordered The Italian Bomber, Half Sixie From Dixie, and Kids Mac and Cheese. And of course a large fry to share. They texted us when order was ready. It took about 30 minutes or so. We strolled into some shops along the street while we waited. Overall, our food was pretty good. My sandwich was huge and I forgot how much I used to love fried bologna. I think their fries are pretty amazing and probably the best thing we ate. They had a little bit of outdoor seating. We chose to sit out there but at that time of day, the sun was blazing right on top of us. I will say that halfway through our wait time, I noticed that there was seating available inside. We asked if we could eat our food inside once it was ready. The person at the window seemed confused and said she didn't know. And then they never told us if we could or not. The place seemed pretty popular! I think we will definitely come back, the next time we are at the beach. But I would love to sit inside next time! Very laid back atmosphere with good food!

Yelp
We were looking forward to trying The Toasted Pickle while visiting but overall it was a let down. The pickles in wontons We're overly chewy. The Monte Cristo was so bland and definitely not sweet and savory. The raspberry sauce just tasted like tart blended raspberries. Forget ordering a kids meal. $5.95 for a single hotdog with no toppings or sides. Such a waste of money. The reason they get two stars is the beer battered fries. Thankfully those saved our meal. I'm glad we ordered the sharable size.

Nichole M.

Yelp
The establishment was clean, well lit and smelled good. The seating was Intimate and wrapped around the room. Service was friendly and fast. Took 5 minutes to whip up my order. The food was hot. I thought the breading/egg roll on the pickle was thick but still very tasty for $6.00. if you are a fan of pickles this is your place!

Verna N.

Yelp
My family and I visited in mid July. The to-go window was open where most people were placing their orders. The restaurant had a sign up in the front that said the dining room was closed, but there was a couple waiting in the front so we talked to them and they said they talked to an employee who said she was cleaning off some tables for them despite the sign being up. My family and I waited and we were seated in the front inside. I don't think any other people were seated while we were there even though there were open tables. Restaurant's choice I guess. We were able to place our order inside and our orders took anywhere from 20 to 50 minutes to come out. When food arrived, it was good. I had the fries and the fried chicken BLT. Vanilla milkshake was delicious.

Megan H.

Yelp
For such a small spot, they were really cool! When I went, I just ordered to go from their sidewalk-facing window. I wasn't in a rush so the 45 minute wait didn't bother me. I got to walk around the surrounding shops until I was alerted that my food was ready. It was expensive, but very good. This is definitely a place I would go if I wanted to treat myself. With my sandwich and side order, it came to like $25. They did have really cute outdoor seating that I would like to use next time too! Despite the name, there are plenty of options for those that don't like pickles either! Their menu is well thought out. Anywhere on the main strip in Grand Haven is going to be a walking distance from your parking spot, so just be prepared for that. There is a lot of free public parking in the area, you might just have to drive around to find a spot.

Autumn W.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. This restaurant closes at 8:00 pm on Friday nights which is fine. We came in and ordered our sandwiches at 7:20 pm. We were told they close at 8 but we would be okay to eat in the dining room because we were here way before closing. !!

Ass W.

Yelp
Did yall handle my sandwich with a towel?? It is coated in these white fuzzes. Couldn't be hair because there is SO much, and it was just grilled so I don't think it was mold. Wasn't the packaging sticking either bc this is the top of the uneaten half of the sando. Idk not a great look, hope it was a clean whatever-it-was. Sandwich was tasty, considering

Tearl P.

Yelp
Amazing food!! The grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup pesto and avocado is fantastic! I hate tomato soup. But I'll tell you this was so good. Lemonade is definitely fresh and tart. Won't disappoint. We went back the same day again it was so good!!!

Tatum D.

Yelp
Sandwiches are pretty mid. I've gotten food here a few times and have just never gotten the hype. Got Sixie on Dixie and I think there was more mayo than a sandwich bc it's all I could taste. Fries are good. Mac N Cheese isn't good so I recommend straying away from that. The way they do their bread is delicious tho. Overall it's a hit or miss depending what you order

Rayce P.

Yelp
A trip to Grand Haven wouldn't be complete without stopping by The Toasted Pickle for sandwiches. We've ordered a variety of sandwiches and enjoyed them all, but one of our favorites is the Tipsy Texan. The interior is pretty cramped, but the Pickle navigates that with a street-side order window that always has a line, with some additional seating on the sidewalk. Make sure to come on a nice day, because you'll probably be eating outside --or you can take your order to go. It's a great way to break up your day in Grand Haven!

Rebekah A.

Yelp
Situated in downtown Down Haven, is The Toasted Pickle. A very quaint yet busy sandwich shop that adds a pickle twist to most dishes. They have pickle poppers, pickle sauces or you can just order a giant pickle as a side. The inside is busy and pretty tight quarters. They have massive tables meaning they only have space for a few and there is pretty much space for a line to stand to the left of them, and that's it. We decided to check them out because they had pretty good reviews here on Yelp. I ordered the chopped salad (sub blue cheese for cheddar) in a half size, which was more food than I could eat for lunch. So, portions were hearty. The food all seemed fresh and delicious and I would definitely wander back in! I'm glad we tried this place! Service wasn't needed much other than taking our initial order but every interaction with the staff you could feel (or see from afar) their negativity. I could tell the lady up front was really not enjoying her job. She kinda grumped at us when we misunderstood and thought there was a pickup window for our order in the other side of the counter (you go to the cash register to pick up your food). I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say the lady up front was just having a bad day and not blame the restaurant as a whole on this, so I'm only taking away 1 star.

Michael D.

Yelp
Really can't go wrong with anything here. They have a ton of great selections. My wife and I split the macaroni and cheese and the pork nachos. The Mac and cheese was topped with chips and was excellent as usual. The pork nachos were a little different, since they were on kettle style potato chips, but they were also very good. We've had sandwiches and soups here previously too, and they are also really good. Love the board on the wall that highlights the local farms/establishments that they get their ingredients from.

Food M.

Yelp
Incredible tomato soup. Good tasty sandwiches. Friendly service Has been very consistent over the years

Jason D.

Yelp
I was in GH visiting and decided to stop by per recommendation! I got the Sixie from Dixie which is a turkey, bacon and cheese with mayonnaise on sourdough. It was honestly one the best turkey sandwich I've ever had. So fresh, tasty and everything was just cooked perfection. The fries are insanely good. The service was friendly and fast. Waited maybe 5 minutes and the place was busy with all the coast guard group ordering and eating. Overall a great experience and if or when I'm ever back, I'll for sure to be stopping by

Annie A.

Yelp
This is a cute little sandwich shop downtown grand haven. We had to park in the street a few blocks away but it was free. We were seated inside (place your order at the window and then they bring it to you). There are only a few tables and it looks like many people take their food to go. The sandwiches were very good, we got the sixie from Dixie (turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo on sourdough) and the monte cristo (French toast bread with ham, turkey and Swiss cheese- comes with a raspberry dipping sauce). I wish the description had the powdered sugar because I would have asked to remove it. They told us that our sandwiches would be out in 20, but they came in 10, even though they were super busy. Good service!

T O.

Yelp
We decided to try " The Toasted Pickle" because it looks sooo good! When we arrived, we had to wait a bit since it is a smaller place. They had plenty of selections. It was around lunch time. We ordered the "Full Italian Bomber", along side of Kettle Chips. I think the Kettle Chips were homemade. They were crispy, salty and so good! The sandwich had that signature Italian flavor to it. it was super good! The pickles were great! Everything was really good!

Sandy T.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwich shop with a variety of flavored lemonade for sale in downtown Grand Haven. The ordering situation is a little confusing, but if you want to dine outside, order "takeout" at the window *outside* of the shop. Was dismayed that a few items weren't available to order when I was there because they ran out of ingredients but I ended up trying their green goddess grilled cheese that was apparently featured on food network. What sets it apart from ordinary grilled cheese is the addition of avocado & pesto. Honestly, still tasted like plain old grilled cheese to me but that was fine by me. The tomato soup was rather ordinary too with a plain, earthy flavor. Tried their strawberry basil lemonade which was quite sweet and barely if any basil flavor but nonetheless enjoyable. Had a bite of the Nashville Hottie chicken sandwich. That was wow. The chicken had spice and sweetness. Good texture and great flavor. Fries are sold separately and they were great. Sliced bigger than my personal preference, yet crispy how I like. The large order is enough to feed 4! For a place called toasted pickle, a soggy sliver of pickle served on the side doesn't quite live up to the shop's name. But overall good food experience and I could see myself dining here again.

Austin M.

Yelp
We stumbled onto the toasted pickle as we strolled down the street and decided to try it. Food items sounded amazing so we tried the Italian and the fancy grilled cheese along with the chips and pickle poppers The Italian was good, not outstanding but not bad. Fancy grilled cheese was good as well Pickle poppers were nothing to rant about - pass Chips may have been good but they didn't give us dip so I can't say I wouldn't say don't try this place but also don't except to be blown away. Not sure why they hype, maybe I just ordered the wrong items

Mitchell L.

Yelp
An awesome must-hit if you are in Grand Haven! These sandwiches are beyond delicious and you can't go wrong here. Nothing better than a sandwich at the beach!

Beth O.

Yelp
Loved this place! My husband and I both got The Green Goddess grilled cheese which was delicious. He also ordered a peach lemonade which was good. We ate inside. Nice atmosphere. The place got really busy after we finished around 12:15 on a Saturday.

Allison B.

Yelp
I was really excited for my green goddess grilled cheese, but it was severely lacking in one of the key ingredients: avocado. The other half has the same small sliver. For $14, more than the meat sandwiches, this is ridiculous. I will stick to making my grilled cheese at home from now on.

Katy C.

Yelp
I got hungry while hanging out at Odd Side Ales' outdoor space over the summer and The Toasted Pickle was just across the street. The online ordering indicated you can tell them your table number at Odd Side and they'd deliver it right to you, but the picnic table we were sitting at outside didn't have a table number. I opted to just order it for pickup, since it was literally 500 yards away. Nate and I ordered the Italian bomber and a side of beer battered fries to split. The online ordering said it would be about 20-24 minutes, and I got a text when my order was done. I walked right up to the pickup window and got our bag of food. Everything was hot and fresh and the sandwich was huge! The romaine lettuce on the sandwich kind of overtook everything but it was also loaded with meat, cheese, and spicy giardiniera. I wish they had cut it in half for us, but we made it work. It was incredibly messy but so delicious! I'm a sucker for a good Italian sandwich, and this was a great one. All the ingredients were fresh including the veggies, and it was pretty stacked for $10. The beer battered fries were amazing! I love this style of fry and theirs were excellent, with a crisp exterior but fluffy inside. They were a bit too salty but the big sea salt flakes wiped off easily so we could enjoy most of the bag. It was a big portion even though I ordered the "regular" and not "share" size - maybe I actually received the share size. Either way, I wouldn't hesitate to get these again. I'm so glad we tried the Toasted Pickle and will make it a regular stop when we're in Grand Haven!

Colie P.

Yelp
The food is amazing!! Super friendly staff . I'm still thinking about that gooey grilled cheese I had!

Matthew K.

Yelp
Lovely place for lunch. They have created their own unique atmosphere in terms of decor and how they serve their food. Lemonade with little umbrellas. These small but tasteful touches make it a unique Grand Haven experience. The lemonade was amazing. I had a burger that was pretty good fair. Others had really great sandwiches.

Tasha H.

Yelp
This place is actually really good. We have done the counter and sat inside. I've never tried their lemonade but kind of want to I just don't wanna spend like $6 on a lemonade. Their sandwiches are good though. I just don't understand why it takes them 30 minutes to make sandwiches and why they don't make them in the order they come in. These women got their food before we got our and we ordered first. I don't get that but I just suggest you order ahead instead of waiting until you get there if you can.

Mitch S.

Yelp
We came to Grand Haven on a few day trip and this place was recommended. We ordered take out as the dining room was full/closed. Unfortunately one of our two sandwiches we ordered was the incorrect one, but the correct one was really good. The piña colada lemonade was excellent as well.

Patrick S.

Yelp
OverRated - Ridged menu that is hard to work with without your order tripling in price. Forget feeding your kids here for reasonable price either. Diners and Dives ruined this place IMO.

Marisa H.

Yelp
Very good sandwiches and soups! Fun branding. Decent stop while shopping in Grand Haven.

April A.

Yelp
So good! We spent Coast Guard week in Grand Haven and had Toasted Pickle several times during our stay. We tried a variety of menu items. All were excellent! Our favorite menu item was their chicken sandwich.

Iman K.

Yelp
Terrific place and a favorite stop in Grand Haven. We like to use the outside window. Sometimes a bit of a wait on the weekends, but totally worth it. The green goddess grilled cheese is heavenly! Grilled cheese with pesto and avocado and just melts in your mouth and it even comes with a little tiny tomato soup to dip it in. Absolute perfection.

Kristie N.

Yelp
Good decision to go here! Very small but definitely worth it. I had the green goddess grilled cheese. Now I don't like pesto but this sandwich was amazing!! Would go there just to get that sandwich!! Service was fast. Food was all good

Ryan K.

Yelp
Y'all this is my Grand Haven go to! Not only is the food well priced but it is DELICIOUS! The High Nooner is a unique fried chicken sandwich. The breading is crispy and feels very homey. It's so fresh too; it'll beat out your run of the mill crispy chicken sandwich. Plus, it has bacon! Pickle Poppers are really a restaurant staple. Imagine pickles with cheese in an eggroll shell and a scrumptious dipping sauce. GH is busy in the summer but this place is well worth any wait :)

Partick Y.

Yelp
Service was beyond slow. Food came and was greasy. No taste. Do your stomach a favor and steer clear of this grease pit.

Meghan B.

Yelp
Got take-out here while visiting the area. The tomato soup= excellent. My cuban sandwich= very good. The star of the show though?! .... the pickle poppers. As a huge fried pickle fan, when I heard of these I just HAD to check this place out. And they are absolutely worth the hype. The crispy dough (which reminded me of eggroll dough) keeps the pimento cheese and pickle secured. They use just the right amount of pimento cheese- it wasn't oozing out when you took a bite, but it added some delicious uniqueness to the fried pickle. The dipping sauce they were served with was fantastic- not too spicy (for my non-spice loving fiance) but SUPER flavorful and the perfect compliment to the pickles. These are in my top 3 of best fried pickles I've ever had!

Kimberly M.

Yelp
Excellent food. It can get a little busy and hard to get in and pick up to go orders when the to go window isn't open. Highly recommend the green goddess grilled cheese and the fries! Tasty lemonade too. I've never had anything less than a great meal here.

Katrina B.

Yelp
Absolutely yummy and perfect for soup/sandwich combo on a rainy day in GH. This place hit the spot and fries were delicious and crispy!

P.Y. H.

Yelp
Grand Haven is a quaint town and Toasted Pickle is a fun place for a quick bite. We ordered the Billy from Philly and the mac'n cheese with pulled pork. Both were good but I especially liked the flavors and texture of the mac'n cheese.

Karen N.

Yelp
Food is spectacular! My family loves to dine here for lunch especially. The workers are usually pretty nice and the location plus ambiance is beautiful! While it is on the pricier side for lunch, I do enjoy this place. Make sure to try the truffle fries!

Marnie R.

Yelp
The sandwich's were excellent. The sandwiches are pretty big, so consider ordering a 1/2. Will definitely come back when we are in the area again.

Dirk H.

Yelp
Reasonably good but expensive. Like most eateries in Grand Haven, Food is overpriced. Place closes at 8pm and doesn't allow guests to sit down inside the restaurant by 7:45pm (or earlier). People were standing in line to order To-Go food at 8pm and were told that the eatery closed at 8pm and were refused service. Way to treat your customers!

Tanya T.

Yelp
Super cute spot in the downtown area of Grand Haven! We stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed our meal. We shared a chopped salad, pickle poppers and the beer battered fries. Food portions are all generous and I liked that they gave you the option of 2 or 4 for the poppers. The decor is also modern and inviting. This would be a great casual stop for lunch or dinner.

Rick C.

Yelp
The gentleman that took the order fro us did not seem pleasant. In fact he had a permanent scowl the entire time we were there. The "High Nooner" fried chicken sandwich we had was fantastic however. Okay, he just walked by and placed a sign denying customers entry. He aggressively ripped the door open. It startled me as I was seated behind the door and I did not want to be hit! He looked pissed off that he had customers. He seems very aggressive and angry. It's lunch hour, what do you expect! Well guess what, you won't have me as a customer. I don't pay $6 for a lemonade for this type of aggression and unpleasant vibe! Ha, my wife said she notice his scowl the entire time we were there! Lol

C T R.

Yelp
A little too greasy. Even the turkey and cheese sandwich. Fried pickles missed the mark.

Layton S.

Yelp
Really good. I haven't had it in a while but it was still very good. I recommend comming here 100%

Esther C.

Yelp
We went at a busy time so we did have to wait a bit but service was good and the food was even better. We sat outside since indoor dining was still unavailable (we went back in July 2021). The lemonade was a bit sour but refreshing nonetheless - it came in all kinds of flavors too! I chose mango because I love mangos. I think there could've been a bit more meat but I enjoyed it anyway. My friends tried and enjoyed the Crusty Cuban and the Smart Alec. Street parking available but if it's busy, I'd say to park somewhere else and walk over!

Lynn M.

Yelp
Great stop in GH for dinner tonight! I had the Green Goddess and hubby had the Crusty Cuban - both delicious!

Paul S.

Yelp
Extremely slow! Took over 30 minutes for a couple of sandwiches from the counter. Don't come here hungry!

Dwayne B.

Yelp
The food was good. But very expensive. 2 sandwiches and a large fry to share. $39.00. Paid with a credit card. Sat down to eat with my daughter. The lady came to bring our food. I asked about dipping sauce for the fries. She indicated there is a charge of 71 cents for each dipping sauce. The food was good, but already way over priced. Adding insult to injury by asking for additional monies for dipping that in my opinion should be included! NOT GOOD. I would have given 4 stars based on the quality of the food. (even though expensive) The dipping sauce issue tipped the scale for me. Unfortunately this is how the world is working since the pandemic. Nickle and dime you to death. Made for a disappointing experience.

Zachary W.

Yelp
Incredible sandwich shop on an adorable block of restaurants, coffee houses and shopping right near the water! Offers both sit down seating and a walk up window for to-go orders. First things first, get a side of coleslaw. Even if you think you don't like coleslaw, this is maybe the best slaw I've ever tried! (not too heavy and a nice kick of acid at the end to perfectly cut through the creaminess) I had the Nashville Hottie (fried chicken breast w/ hot honey and house made coleslaw) and my wife tried the Tipsy Texan (BBQ pork w/ LTO, onion strings and melted cheddar). Both were fantastic! Our only regret was passing up the mouthwatering assortment of flavored lemonades. Oh well, I guess we'll have to come back!
