We loved it here..this was my first time going and I will most definitely be back. It was my daughters birthday and our server 🗣️MAYCO was phenomenal!! We drove 2 hours and they did not disappoint!!

Enjoyed an early breakfast with my homegirl. We had a blast. Whoever was on the aux was having a lovely day. And our waitress was the bomb! Had some hot tea and the platter with a single pancake. That's a large pancake. Everything was delicious and I had a 10/10 experience.

I don’t go out for breakfast very frequently but when I do, I don’t have any problem going to a chain establishment, since so many of them serve fine meals to start your morning. A good example of a worthwhile chain specializing in breakfast is Toasted Yolk Café. This Toasted Yolk Café is located on Washington street, in Houston’s Heights area. It’s in a brick building and it offers both indoor and outdoor seating with a pet- friendly patio. The interior seating includes a bar, tables, and booths. Beware of the stool- style seating at the bar and some of the tables. There is no back support, and it may not meet your comfort standards. You’ll find a nice assortment of breakfast options at Toasted Yolk Café. Eggs, pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy, and other choices await your selection. I usually go for one of the omelets. They are made with four eggs and include hashbrowns or grits, plus toast. The hashbrowns are actually a casserole and are different from the crispy style that most of us are familiar with. If your appetite leans toward a sandwich, then one of the Arnolds is a good choice. And the power bowls are a good choice if you’re visiting for brunch. I like the food served at Toasted Yolk Café and I find that one meal is quite filling- so much so, that I either end up taking food home or, if I finish it all, I can skip lunch. Service is friendly and prompt, and I like the location on Washington Street because it’s easy to find and they will validate your parking ticket, making your parking free. It’s a good start to any morning, and a restaurant chain that excels at most levels.

This breakfast spot never fails to impress! The food is always great and delicious, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The prices are reasonable, making it a fantastic value. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to start your day. Highly recommended for a satisfying breakfast experience!

Google
Great place in a great location. Whether you’re doing take out or dine in, it’s always a great experience, and all the workers there are super friendly. They have a large menu so you’ll be able to find something for anyone in your group, and their bar/drink menu is also pretty extensive. While everything I’ve tried is great, their signature hashbrown casserole is a MUST try. Hard to go wrong though with anything on the menu.

Wen was the kind of server who makes you feel like family . but the fun kind of family that actually gets along! Great service, great attitude, and we’re convinced Wen has superpowers. Our food came out faster than my kids can argue about dessert. highly recommend wen as a server go wen !!!

Google
My absolute favorite breakfast restaurant! My only regret, not coming here sooner. I had the best chicken and waffles ever, and they are not even in the menu. So if you want to try them, ask for them. The chicken was done just right, juicy and tasty. And you don't have to break the bank eating here. Our waitress Danielle gave us great service!

Yelp
Toasted yolk is our old faithful for brunch. Friendly service, great food at reasonable prices, and they have great pineapple mimosas. We've eaten burgers, Reuben, shrimp salad, shrimp and grits, chicken friend sandwich, and so many other options and they are all good. The sleeper is the cheesy hash browns! I also like the whimsical jokes on the hallway to the bathroom.

Yelp
We were looking for a spot for Saturday breakfast with some friends and decided on this Toasted Yolk because of it's central location. Located off Washington, it is easy to find with an attached garage. This garage does charge, but The Toasted Yolk will validate your parking up to 3 hours. I've been to other locations before on a weekend and was anticipating a line here. We did have to wait, but it wasn't too bad. This location used to be Kitchen 713. The completely changed it to a bright and inviting environment. The dining area is large and can accommodate alot of people. Customer service here was great. What I love about this place is they have boozy breakfast drinks. The Toasted Yolk Coffee is one of my favorite go to drinks here. It is coffee with Bailey's, Kahlua, and whipped cream. The coffee cancels out the alcohol so it's like it never happened....or atleast that's what I tell myself. Their regular coffee and juices are just as good. I play it by ear usually. They always have different seasonal specials. On this particular trip, I ordered the Maple Bacon Donuts for the table. This was good but super sweet. The bacon's saltiness helped cut through the sweetness. I have ordered the churro style donuts in the past and those are really good. Perfect with some coffee. For my entree, I went with the Double Decker Omelet. The omelets here are substantial in size. They have 4 eggs with sausage, bacon, ham, jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. They cooked slightly over, but it was still delicious. I substituted my biscuit for an English muffin. I was expecting a full muffin, but it was just half. The plate also came with hashbrowns that were cooked just right and seasoned nicely as well. Overall, I've been to multiple Toasted Yolks and have never left unsatisfied. I will continue to keep them in my rotation.

Yelp
Great service!! The server was super attentive, kind and quick. I got the hot cocoa which came in a warm ceramic mug with whipped cream. It could've been chocolatier/creamier. The coffee tasted watered down and no amount of creamer or sugar was going to save it. It also came in a styrofoam cup because they were out of mugs. As for the food, I got a Rueben Arnold which is on the seasonal menu. This dish came with two thick-cut marbled rye bread with pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and poached eggs, topped with Horshack Sauce. It is big enough to share between two people and I got it with a side of hash brown casserole. It was an interesting combination of flavors and I really liked it. Very filling!

Yelp
American dining done right!!! I'm not the one to do American breakfast unless I'm really craving it today I decided to try this spot. And it was best decision of my day. I tried the iced latte with hazelnut I was sat near the bar area so the server promptly came to take my order she approached being kind and professional. I was debating between different options the sandwiches and omelets looked amazing and also the pancakes were whispering my name too bad I didn't go with a plus one so we could share different meals; I ordered the cowboy scramble and that dish was HUGE! 2 biscuits with gravy and scrambled eggs with bacon and ham with a side of fruit and hashbrown casserole. Everything tasted delicious and was fast in my table. Would have to come back to try the rest of the menu. ********WHATEVER YOU ORDER MAKE SURE YOU GET A SIDE OF HASHBROWN CASSEROLE IT WAS SO CHEESY LIKE A 90s ROM-COM (But actually good) *******

Yelp
Went here for a birthday brunch with a group of 6. Pretty busy however they do have seating inside and outside while you wait. We waited about 10-15 before we were seated. The hostess was extremely nice. Our waiter Noah was friendly, funny, and helpful. Great menu options with a little bit of everything for everybody. Everyone enjoyed their selections. I ordered the fired banana peppers as per of the appetizers for the table and they were sooooo good. First time ever having them fried. 5/5. I also ordered the shrimp and grits. 5/5 as well. Great experience at this location and awesome staff!

Yelp
Went on Sunday for breakfast, service was great. All the food was really good, cappuccino was disappointing however all else was filling w/large portions Will definitely go again and try their lunch menu which looks good.

Yelp
Ok, so I've been to toasted yolk before, but this specific location, is my new fave! I had the brisket scramble and it was delicious! The biscuit and the hash brown. The hosts were slightly rude, they acted like we were inconveniencing them. However, our waitress was delightful. The restaurant was pretty empty and everything looks very new and clean.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've taken time to write a review, and this is for two reasons: 1. Life 2. I haven't really been any place that inspired me to write a review The folks at The Toasted Yolk changed that this morning. TL;DR - Great food and outstanding service. Wonder Wife got to join me on a road trip to Houston and this morning we wanted to find some breakfast spot. She found The Toasted Yolk online and placed a carry out order. When I put the restaurant name into the rental car GPS, we ended up driving to the wrong location (of course). Once we got to the correct location, we asked one of the waitresses if they could reheat the food and just let us eat there. She said, 'No'. Actually, what she said was, 'Just have a seat and we'll remake your order fresh.' I pointed out that the reason our food was cold was totally our fault. 'Well, we want you to have a good experience.' Well, we did. Wonder Wife had the French toast. I had scrambled eggs with their queso hash and bacon. The food was outstanding. The service was even better.

Yelp
The food in Texas is so good. Huge portions which are totally shareable. This place is located at The Heights, in Houston, Texas whee we visited family from LA. Found this place on Yelp while in Houston. My husband had the Cowboy scramble a biscuit and gray meal with an amazing hash brown casserole. Homemade biscuits were soft in the inside and lightly crispy on the outside. The gravy will make you want more with the rich sauce and sausage with coffee. It was pretty delicious for sure. My son had the Big Ben omelette with ham, onions, green peppers and cheddar cheese and fries and orange juice. He loved it so much he couldn't stop eating it. I had the brisket scramble with smoked brisket, sautéed onions, jalapeños and cheddar cheese with a biscuit. This dish is super delicious, and recommend all is the above. However, this is the most flavorful breakfast i've had in a long time. The staff was very friendly and recommended were helpful being from out of town. It's a much of you visit Houston Texas.

Yelp
I always enjoy my time here. I bought my mom and aunt for brunch, and they enjoyed it. I ordered the West Coast Arnold, and it was truly phenomenal. Shanice was our waitress, and she was truly stunning and a warm smile and personality! My mom's French Toast was a bit under, but Shanice quickly bought out another French Toast for her to enjoy. Beautiful atmosphere and vibe. I will be back!

Yelp
Our waitress was one of the best we've ever had. I'll come back just to see Bre again! She was so welcoming, attentive, and helpful. We always love the food here and this time was no different. Clean and chill atmosphere. The food was presented well and delicious.

Yelp
I love this place. The food is always *chef's kiss.* I've been to 3 of the Houston-area locations and I can honestly say, that this company is very consistent. The service is always stellar at each location. They are always friendly, you get your food on time, it's always quality. I enjoy trying different locations to see the murals and decor inside mostly, as I pretty much get the same thing now - brisket scramble and the hash brown casserole. My only negative this time is that the mimosa wasn't tasty.
google avatar

Jia Ying L.

Yelp
I ordered a combo of half a sandwhich and a salad for around $15. Which is reasonable however, after eating the food I don't think it was worth at all. I am not sure what happened but the bread on the sand-which wasn't good, the meat was fine but with the sauce and everything it was super messy, after finishing it I felt a bit sick too. ( think this is also due to the fact that the water they gave us was pretty strong sink water ) I strongly believe there are much better breakfast/brunch places in Houston that are worth your money. Our server was nice btw, she was sweet but the food was just not great. Wouldn't come back for it.

Yelp
This was my first time at this establishment due to me visiting the area and I am very pleased with what I had overall. Took awhile for them to take our order only because it was so busy!! I ordered the ice Irish coffee with whipped cream and that it was delicious!! Very sweet for those that aren't a big fan of coffee and the liquor was definitely in there. The food was absolutely AMAZING!! I highly recommend getting the southern Arnold (I believe it's one of their popular items). Portion size was worth the price, it's filling, and the chicken is very flavorful. I definitely will be back to the location near me lol
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for brunch with group of friends, parking is available on the streets near by or in the garage (the restaurant provides parking validation up to 2 hrs). Ordered the latte and Southern Fried Arnold. Decent brunch food, and the eggs and fried chicken were cooked well. Wish they have the simple crunchy hashbrown or breakfast potato instead of the hashbrown casserole (too cheesy and gooey for my personal taste, but others seems to enjoyed it). The latte was very mid. Service was pretty slow and minimal.

Yelp
Been here countless times with my girl in the past. We both work in medicine and do a lot of overnight shifts. So when 7 am rolls around, we are ready for food and drinks, and this place always delivers. From their omelettes to their tacos to their salads to their drinks, this place is about it. Their service is quick and the staff is always really kind. Portion sizes rock too. Drinks are delicious and they pour decently strong beverages (I've had stronger for sure, but at 7 am, it does the trick). It's also one of the few places that serves alcohol so early in the morning, so it's perfect for anyone coming off a night shift. Pretty sure they do discounts for those who work in the medical field too, just as a heads up. Anyways, highly recommend.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch. I was seated quickly although the restaurant was very busy and we were able to order pretty quickly as well. The outdoor seating was good for the nice weather and the ambiance allowed us to have a good conversation. The service was great, our server was very attentive throughout our meal. I got the Arnold with turkey, bacon, and avocado with Cajun seasoning. It was alright, wasn't the best I've ever had but the hash brown casserole was super delicious.
google avatar

Amber J.

Yelp
Visited this location for brunch during the weekday and I enjoyed my experience. The food was delicious with a generous portion size. The fried chicken was flavorful. Our waitress was so sweet and did a great job. I would love to visit for Sunday brunch.

Yelp
Sweet Lord. This was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. My party & I arrived at 10:50am but we had already checked in online. One of the hostesses told us 15-20 minutes which was fine. We ended up having to add someone to our party but the other hostess said it was no issue & we were not going to be moved in the queue & even showed us on the iPad. So 20 minutes went by, then 30, then 40, & at 45 minutes a 6 top that came in over 30 minutes after us was seated first. When we went inside to ask what in the world was happening the hostesses were pointing the finger at each other. They accidentally gave our table away & when I was explaining to the group the snotty high school hostess said "No! They just accidentally got seated before you all." Um, that's giving the table away. She tried to sit our party outside at SEPARATE tables. After another 15 minutes we were seated. We had to basically tell the hostesses that we would need to speak to a manager. The manager while friendly did not offer any type of compensation. We were well into an hour of waiting for our reservation in the Houston hear that was supposed to be a 15 - 20 minute wait. Incredible. Once we were seated we waited another 5 minutes to be approached & we immediately placed our order. Another 10 minutes for just our drinks in which we had to again ask the manager to check on. The food was absolutely incredible & our waitress was a sweetheart but the experience was absolutely horrendous. What's the point of making reservations if the hostesses don't understand how to manage them? We wanted to get out of there ASAP! Oh, & the cherry on top was that they do validate parking but it only covers two hours so because of THEIR mistake our entire party had to pay parking.

Yelp
The visit started off okay, I was greeted and sat quickly which is always a plus. Even on a Sunday morning. I'm not sure why my server showed more attention and better service to others, but it really led me to write this review when I tried to get her attention after she skipped us multiple times and after I said excuse me she went to the customer next to me. I had to say it again and she still didn't look like she wanted to be there. It's sucks because people love to make the assumption that I'm not going to tip and they give me terrible service. The food comes out cold, I tried to be a good sport about it, but looking at the people next to us who came after us and got food before us with steam still coming out of their food had me steaming as well. The first manager comes, speaks to the other tables surrounding us, then stops at her table, we express our concerns and she said, "let me see what I can do," and never came back. The waitress at least came back and got the other manager for us. He comes and he is the reason for the stars because he was a star so patient and concerned to help make our experience better. The food came back amazing! It was fresh and hot and so tasty. I'm so glad I did speak up, because if I didn't , I most likely would've never come back. JC was truly a gem I'm very grateful. Amy, the first manager did make her way back around to my table. JC delivered the food himself. Everything tasted amazing so glad I came. Amy sent drinks we originally ordered too early to the table for which I was grateful for, one was messed up and our server came quickly and got it fixed. Ultimately I feel like my complaint was heard and actively fixed. Grateful for the service after the fact. Good food, nice ambiance, vibe. It's decorated nicely with high open ceilings.

Yelp
An okay family breakfast spot. In my opinion they have everything you could want on the menu which is a plus but everything I've tried isn't the best.
google avatar

Ananya S.

Yelp
Great service and very casual And friendly atmosphere. Food is really good. I think it's a little pricey for breakfast ($15 for a plate? Really?) but it does have a ton of selection and full lunch menu as well. Also unlike Snooze you will always get a table - no waits. My favorites are the junkyard hash browns (with cheese onions chili and jalapeños) and the cheese grits :) Walking distance to a Starbucks if you want to grab a coffee after.
google avatar

Yelp
My dead ex boyfriend got me the toasted yolk one time after I caught him cheating and I thought it was so cute and genius putting the egg in the bread and frying it! I thought it was so awesome I forgave him for cheating. The rest of the food was great too. Anyway it sucks he died because now I gotta go get my toasted yolks all by myself. RIP Nikita

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Alex was exceptional in his role as a server as this was our first experience with the establishment and the outcome was stupendous. We will not only be returning as satisfied customers, but I truly believe that we have located the replacement to our favorite restaurant... for breakfast at least. We'll see if these feelings towards the amazing food are the same regarding lunch and dinner in the near future. Excellent restaurant!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to this location 2 or 3 times now and it's always such a wonderful experience. The ambiance is fun - very bright, colorful and open. Their coffee is good (I usually order a cafe mocha). I get the two eggs and a cake plate which comes with two eggs, bacon or sausage, French toast or pancakes and their hash brown casserole. The hash brown casserole is my favorite part of the meal, as it's full of cheesy goodness. I haven't tried the French toast yet but can say the pancakes are good and huge, not like the short stack sized pancakes you get at ihop. The service is always attentive here and they also validate your parking in the parking garage so that's never an issue. There is a time limit on the parking but even for slow eaters they provide ample time.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Start with the churro donuts for the table. They come out hot with a caramel dipping sauce that's just, wow! Tried the Southwest Arnold. The queso topping is very rich, so be prepared. The sausage mixed into this was very tasty and the eggs were perfectly poached. A great breakfast choice. Amy son ordered the patty melt and said it was very good but next time he'll ask for less onions. Our server, Jack was friendly and kept an eye on the drinks; GREAT service! Overall a fantastic breakfast and we're looking forward to coming to try more things.
google avatar

Ryan A.

Yelp
The service provided to us by Kenzie was great! She checked on us the perfect amount. My sister got the granola apple French toast which was massive. We got there about 7:30am and it wasn't too busy. But I can see this place being packed for a brunch on the weekend.

Yelp
From the moment we stepped into The Toasted Yolk Cafe, Bree made our dining experience nothing short of extraordinary. Her welcoming smile and genuine enthusiasm set a positive tone for our meal. Bree's attention to detail was impeccable; she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring our drink cups were always filled and our table was perfectly attended to. What truly set Bree apart was her remarkable ability to make us feel like the only customers in the cafe. She provided personalized recommendations that were spot on, sharing her favorites with a passion that was contagious. Her knowledge of the menu and her eagerness to share the stories behind the dishes added a special touch to our dining experience. Bree's service was swift and seamless, yet she never made us feel rushed. She was there exactly when we needed her, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to enjoy our meal. Her warm and engaging personality made us feel right at home, turning a simple breakfast into a memorable experience. It's rare to come across someone as dedicated and skilled in the art of hospitality as Bree. She is a true asset to The Toasted Yolk Cafe, embodying the highest standards of customer service. We left the cafe not only satisfied with our delicious meal but also uplifted by the exceptional service we received from Bree. She didn't just serve us; she delighted us, ensuring that our visit to The Toasted Yolk Cafe was an experience we won't soon forget.

Yelp
The Food Was So Amazing and Delicious. I came back twice. The service was extremely great.
google avatar

Yelp
The chicken fried steak was perfect and perfectly cooked finally I ordered scrambled soft and they got it right! Shanese who served me was excellent! She made my visit worth it.
google avatar

Al P.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot with a full bar to boot. The staff does a good job getting you sat and the service was outstanding. Thank You Shanice! I had the brisket scramble and my wife had The toasted yolk. Very tasty with good portions. We came before 9:30 with no wait on a Sunday morning. When we left at 10:30, the wait list stretched outside the building. It's popular for a reason!
google avatar

Megan A.

Yelp
Parker gave us exceptional service. This was me and a few other ladies' first time here! The selection of their menu is fantastic and gives a great variety of options for breakfast and brunch options. Such a great restaurant to get together with friends!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
I'd definitely come here again! So many of the menu options looked delicious and i wish i had a big enough stomach to get more than one thing. In the future I'd look into trying to make some sort of reservation beforehand because we did have to wait about half an hour.
google avatar

Ella C.

Yelp
Eggs Benedict is my fav! The omelettes, pancake & waffle dishes also excellent. We've always had awesome service but we sit at the counter.
google avatar

Jayla A.

Yelp
I instantly fell in love with this restaurant. It screams brunch. They have a great menu with lots to choose from. I'm a egg fanatic so I had to try the Eggs Benedict, and it was delicious! I ordered the West Coast Arnold which was right up my alley thanks to the guac . The mimosas were also fabulous and cheap! For those who live in the area on Fridays they have drinks 1/2 off. I can't wait to visit again next time I'm in Houston.

Maya J.

Yelp
Food was sub par. Atmosphere was strange. The energy was quiet and still, and the decor was green everywhere. We had a fruit cup that was over ripe, the fruit was brown and soft. Service was average, not bad but not good. Probably would not come back.
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
You can trust this place is great because my husband is very picky about American breakfast food, and doesn't like most of it on principle, and he said this place was surprisingly good and he would definitely go back! A lovely, open, fresh atmosphere, surprisingly good food, and great friendly service from our server Austin!

Amanda R.

Yelp
Angie was our waitress and she was the sweetest server! I will definitely be back the service and the food was perfect!!!
google avatar

Donovan C.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast. Waitress was nice. Food came out & looked great. Then a roach was crawling on the wall behind me. Then the same roach jumped off the wall on my seat and crawled towards me. Craziest thing I've seen. Unfortunately cleanliness is an issue here.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
I've been going to this location for years and it's always gonna be my favorite spot to have breakfast, some of the original waitresses have been there for years and they deserve all the money that they can get! Amazing staff amazing food and amazing vibes always at this location!
google avatar

Joe G.

Yelp
Love coming here for brunch. Be sure you ask to sit in Bree's section. She is the best and always makes the experience fun!!
google avatar

Jacob D.

Yelp
Easy parking and a well lit interior, are the back drop for this modern take on the classic breakfast spot. I got The Toasted Yolk, always a good idea to go for the restaurant's namesake, and was happy with my decision and portion size. My thoughts on breakfast, is that it is easy to do wrong, and hard to elevate; so they do a good job of rising above their national chain peers. The menu caters to both savory and sweet toothed folk.
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Consistent, predictable, and overall pretty decent breakfast and brunch fare. Nothing out of the world but the menu is concise and items seem well cooked. Parking is available for free in the parking garage behind the building, which is a plus.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Came here with some friends on Saturday around 11. I got the West Coast Arnold, which is one of their healthiest benedicts, with a side of cheesy hash browns (other option is grits). Overall, I feel like Snooze is noticeably better quality and value for similarly priced items. Pros: Generous portions. Friendly server. Cons: Food took a long time to come out and came out cold. My friend's mocha was definitely just coffee--it looked like a light iced coffee and had no mocha flavor in it. The fruit bowl that comes with the Arnolds was just cantaloupe and grapes. The hash browns were not what I expected. They were cheesy and a large portion, which was great, but they were also a lot more moist/sticky than expected--like it was made of half rice, half potatoes.
google avatar

Chelle N.

Yelp
Dined in on Thursday at 12:20 pm and was seated immediately. I ordered: Southern Fried Arnold - gravy is very good, chicken tenders and biscuits were a tad dry, hash brown casserole is good but wished it was a little crispy, and the fruits were not sweet Huge pancake - very good
google avatar

Ruth D.

Yelp
I got the southern fried arnold which is really a variation of an eggs benedict. The food was so good. I enjoyed every bite of this meal. The restaurant is cute, kept clean, and a fun vibrant atmosphere. The menu is large and has a lot of variety. The waiter I had provided sub-par service. He was very short, rushed us, and was unprofessional. He even screamed to tell us our food was ready, attracting the attention of the whole restaurant - that's how loud he was. The pros is that our food did come out very fast and when I had an issue with my drink, he exchanged it for another one. And other staff at the restaurant appeared to be more customer friendly. The drinks as a whole were not very good in my opinion. However the overall experience was pleasant and the food tasted so good so I will give the restaurant 4 stars. If the customer service was more warm in nature and the drinks tasted better, I could increase this rating

Yelp
Loved our time here! Veronica is the best and we enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service.

Yelp
Brunch lovers rejoice -- this lime green lit atmosphere has a Southwestern-inspired menu featuring unique spins on breakfast classics, and you can try things like Breakfast Tacos, a variety of the "Arnold's" (southern fried and Alaskan Arnold in pic), pancakes, waffles, and French toast. If you're looking for a boozy brunch, then this spot has you covered too. You can sip drinks like the Rise n shine punch! Bloody Maria or Jackie's Morning Margarita. The mimosa will transport you further into the desert, as it's made with prickly pear juice.
