International Darts Hall and Pub Oche Eyes Houston’s Midtown for Next Location | Eater Houston

"A Norway-based international darts hall and restaurant is planning a 9,260-square-foot Midtown Houston location in The Travis apartment building. Named for the line players stand behind when throwing darts, the concept focuses on tech-driven darts gameplay with rentable dart booths for traditional and other dart-centered games, plus private and semi-private rooms for groups. The brand operates multiple venues across Europe and Australia but saw its first U.S. outpost in Miami Beach (opened August 2021) close after less than a year. Commercial real estate firm Madison Marquette will oversee the Houston buildout, with filings indicating a June groundbreaking and an expected October completion; the operation aims to pair interactive, high-tech darts entertainment with high-end pub fare as part of a broader influx of similar Europe-originated gaming pubs." - Brittany Britto Garley

I’ve been a long-term resident here, and the improvements since the new Hines Management team took over have been amazing. Work orders are handled quickly, the property is spotless, and the building feels much more secure with new cameras, upgraded garages, and renovated common areas. Carl, the assistant manager, is always professional, responsive, and great to work with. The place is well maintained, very clean, and I probably have one of the best views in the city. Living here has been a great experience from start to finish.

I’ve lived at the Travis for 1.5 years and once the new management took over I renewed my lease immediately. There were many issues previously throughout my stay, but one by one the new management team is addressing them. They’ve completely upgraded the security of the property by adding security guards and repairing both entry gates. The elevators have been renovated and the pool area has been overhauled in the best way. The valet and concierge staff are amazing humans. I enjoy interacting with them and they always look out for me. Knowing that I can’t be easily accessed is a major plus for me. The new management team was handed a building that needed a lot of tlc and residents that were tired of the daily issues. They exercised extreme patience and focused on making this a better place for us to live. I can honestly say that they have gone above and beyond to hear us out and act on our concerns. I have the best view in the city day or night living here at the Travis. I absolutely love my 2bd 2.5ba layout. If a midtown high rise is on your wishlist I encourage you to look past old reviews and come tour the new property and meet the new management team for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Fake Luxury – Please Beware Before Signing a Lease The Travis may look like a luxury high rise with great views of downtown Houston, but the experience of living here tells a very different story. There is a reason why the reviews are at a 3.3. I lived there for a little over 2 years. Please don’t let them try to sway you into moving there by saying they are under a new property management company and they are making changes. • Faulty Elevators: 3 elevators and maybe 1 will be working for 30 floors. The wait time is ridiculous. 15 plus minutes sometimes. I lived on the 20th floor and often had to walk up and down 20 flights of stairs because the elevators were broken every other day. Not to mention the stairwell is filthy. • Questionable Security: Multiple car break-ins in the garage during my lease, and my $500 bike was stolen out of a locked bike cage. Conveniently somehow the cameras weren’t working. • Living Conditions: The hallways often reek of marijuana, which lingers and makes the “luxury” atmosphere questionable. • Deposit Issues: After moving out 8/9/25 I’m still fighting to receive my $2,000 dollar deposit refund. Getting answers from management has been exhausting and full of excuses. Imagine being told it’s USPS fault and they can take up to 15 days to send mail to you in the same state. A check coming from Houston being sent to Dallas should be 3 business days max! I’ve requested a tracking number and it seems my request is falling on deaf ears. For the price, you expect true luxury and professionalism, but instead it feels like smoke and mirrors. Great views cannot make up for poor management, unsafe conditions, and lack of transparency.

I have lived at The Travis for two years, and I can say with absolute confidence that this has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing living experiences I’ve ever had. Since Hines took over management, every pre-existing problem has been ignored, new issues have been created, and the entire community has gone downhill in every possible way. The elevators are the clearest example of this failure. They are always broken. Not occasionally, not during peak times—every single day. Even after management claimed they “renovated” them, absolutely nothing improved. As I write this review, I am literally trapped in my apartment 23 floors in the air because all elevators are down. This isn’t a rare emergency; this is the daily reality of living here. Living at The Travis means permanently adjusting your life around the elevators not working. You will be late to work. You will be late picking up your kids. You will miss your Uber every single time. You will find yourself budgeting extra time for even the simplest tasks because you know the elevators will fail. This week alone, management has already sent multiple apology emails about outages—again. And the most embarrassing part is watching the assistant manager try to give tours to potential residents while the one barely functioning elevator is packed shoulder-to-shoulder with people. I don’t know how they can present this building with a straight face. What makes all this worse is that the new management has decided to take things away from residents while charging more. They introduced a $50 amenities fee for amenities we already had included before. The complimentary valet service we used to enjoy? Gone. The concierge, which once provided actual convenience, is now essentially pointless. They no longer deliver packages to your door, so every time something arrives, you have to go all the way downstairs—again, through elevators that hardly ever work. The fact that management is removing services while failing to maintain even the basics shows just how disconnected they are from the realities residents deal with. And speaking of disconnect, the quality of customer service has dropped dramatically. When I told Sharifa that I work from home and am in meetings all day, her response was, “Well why are you down here now talking to me if you don’t have time?” That level of dismissiveness and unprofessionalism is shocking for a building that claims to be luxury. Residents deserve better than management who talks down to them instead of addressing actual problems. The bottom line is that Hines has taken a once-great community and turned it into a source of constant inconvenience, added fees, disappearing amenities, and unprofessional interactions. Between the permanently broken elevators, the removed services, the pointless concierge, and management’s lack of respect for residents, I would strongly urge anyone considering The Travis to look elsewhere. If you value reliability, convenience, or even basic courtesy, this is not the place for you.

I toured The Travis last minute after having issues with another apartment complex and needing to find a place quickly. I called The Travis, and they were able to schedule me for a tour the same day — even though it was close to the leasing office’s closing time. Dayna was my tour guide, and she was extremely pleasant and honest. She was upfront about the property having some elevator issues and other minor concerns that management is actively working to fix — nothing that would deter me from living there. The units themselves are beautiful, and they were offering a great special at the time. Given my quick move-in timeline, Dayna was able to process my application within 48 hours and maintained excellent communication throughout the entire process. When she was out, the other leasing agents stepped in seamlessly and were already aware of my upcoming move. You can tell that the team at The Travis is organized and genuinely cares about their residents. I’m hopeful that the exceptional service continues once I move in. I’ll provide an update in three months!

Google
The new management is great. I've lived here for two years and this new group of human beings seems so much more effective and they've been very kind to me. They're making some beautiful updates to the property. I hope other residents can also see this and help them get their reviews back up. I'm, now, grateful to live here and it feels like they care about the property and it really is a beautiful place to live. They've been upgrading everything so someone at Hines and the managers must be pretty great. I stick to myself and work a lot so I don't really socialize, much, but I've just even noticed that I feel better and different living here, now. I think their reviews will improve and I hope people will give them a fair shot.

Google
Dana was incredibly informative and personable throughout the tour! The experience was genuinely fun, filled with laughter and relatable conversations. I usually focus only on the unit itself since amenities don’t matter much to me if I don’t like the apartment. But this property changed that mindset. From the gym’s stunning view to the beautiful pool area, I was very impressed. The "double-secured" package receiving and storing system they've implemented and thoughtfully planned resident events make this community feel like an admirable, almost irresistible package.

Google
I recently visited The Travis and wanted to give special credit to Marlon, who truly made my experience at this apartment complex exceptional. He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and went above and beyond to answer any questions I had. Having someone like Marlon on the team speaks volumes about the overall staff.

Yelp
Do not move here! If you love to be late for work, this is the apartments for you. The elevators never work. If you love hearing gunshots go off in your building, this is it. Cars being broken into, this is the place This is by no means a "high end" apt complex. Steer clear you have been warned

Yelp
On august 31, 2025 at 10AM I was stuck for 45 minutes because there exit gate was broken. I called the leasing office for help. A lady named Jessica answered, after explaining my issue she said you just have to wait till someone comes into the entrance gate and go for it. After I explained I wasn't willing to risk my life or my car to simply exit their building she proceeded to put me on hold claiming she had other people to "help". After waiting 20 minutes I hung up and someone finally came and I was able to exit. I stopped by the leasing office on my way out and Jessica let me know "I wasn't the first person and needed to get over it". All in all please don't waste your money to live here with these shitty conditions and @TheTravis if you're going to pay someone to do a job. You can do much better than Jessica she is rude and bitter women, I would hope you all would hold your employees to higher standard.

Yelp
Unfortunately yelp reviews are a minimum of 1,000 characters. I had pre typed a review to paste into yelp and google, bc I didn't want to miss any details. But of course, this place is sooo terrible, that by the time I was done, I had 14,237 characters. So instead, I'm going to start over and touch on the things most important, but please leave this review knowing there was so much more I wanted to add, but literally didn't have the space too. PLEASE HEED ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS. Bc as I told management, every negative review I've read about this place has came to fruition, despite them claiming that they are fake reviews from one disgruntled ex tenant. I wish I wasn't in such a hurry and did more research bc I definitely wouldn't have signed a lease here or even have applied. I moved in about one month ago and I can definitively state: The Travis is a HELLSCAPE, a place from your WORST NIGHTMARE. From the extremely rude, aggressive, invasive valets who have followed me and my child to our door; to the concierge who is extremely condescending, to management who is smug and patronizing, to the crumbling infrastructure this place has to be the biggest "fraud." This place is the ghetto being passed off as "luxury." This place is no more luxurious than Olive Garden, minus the breadsticks. When I moved into my unit it was FILTHY. I mean stuck on grease stains under cabinets and on walls, I don't think the windows have been washed since the building was built. I can't believe they gave me the apartment in that condition. Parking is a joke here. Guests cannot use valet. They must park on the street or pay $10 to park in an unsecured garage... what sense does that make? And to park my second vehicle it's an additional $100. They have a contract with one internet provider, and that's it. BTW that provider is garbage. Terrible connections and terrible customer service. But it's not like you have a choice. The concierge and valets believe they can talk to you whatever way they want. And they can, bc not only do they ban together so does management, who doesn't give a damn and will most likely defend their actions rather than try to fix the situations. After an argument with the concierge for crossing the line. She is completely unprofessional and blatantly ignores me, when I come in she turns her head the other way and refuses to give me service. The valets will literally stalk you. I'm a young woman living alone with my daughter and they valets have on multiple occasions followed me to my unit behind my back without saying a word and j only notice them there once I've turned my head towards the back. How scary is that? I've waited over two weeks to hear back from management regarding addressing my concerns. I have a feeling I will never get that call. Oh and I now have a water leak in less than a month of moving in... seriously? I haven't even unpacked all my boxes and water is already dripping from the ceiling in the laundry room and coming up under the "wood" planks on the floor. Oh and dont think you're going to take a dip in the pool this hot summer, bc the CITY OF HOUSTON shit it down UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Bc it didn't pass inspection... All this for 3K+ apartments?! A JOKE. After waiting more than two weeks and not hearing back from management, I called to get a corporate or regional managers number and I was refused. I was told I would have to go to Holli Walker the same patronizing manager who has ignore all of my previous concerns. I was then repeatedly hung up on by the acting manager, Deon Smithers at the time after refusing to give me higher ups number. I read a review of someone saying they cried tears of relief when they were finally able to move from the Travis and I completely believe them. I'm going to attach pictures that show the grease stains, how trashed the property is, the leak in my unit, and the city of Houston notice stating the pool is closed. Don't was RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Shirley J.

Yelp
Do NOT move here PLEASE READ RUN RUN RUN ... I have had countless problems with this so called "luxury" apartment and nothing has been done about it. This building isn't LUXURIOUS ITS GHETTO . I wish I would have read the reviews before moving to this building. Please Read other reviews , staff is extremely nice when you're touring the place. After you move in...they could not care less about any of the residents or the problems they experience. Holli is extremely nonchalant, extremely sassy can care less about anything . I have never seen someone so heartless before . You can tell by their response to other negative reviews... as they claim them all to be "false reviews" by a "disgruntled resident." This just shows how lacking their ability to take responsibility . I refuse to be SILENCED I HAVE RECORDING - IMAGES - VIDEOS. I WILL BE HEARD . I will expose them every single day. My bathroom roof had a MAJOR LEAK (pictures attached) 1 month of me moving here . How does that even happen? I have experienced this 3xs in total . My bathroom started growing mold they literally just painted over it. I've talked with other residents and they too have experienced lots of problems with the staff. Last month two men camped out in the parking garage wore ski mask as they attempted to rob residents . AGAIN NOTHING WAS DONE . Save yourself money and time DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Yelp
Overpriced- Vehicle was broken into twice. Elevators never work, no security, barely clean, smells horrible, power goes out at least once a week, management isn't any help, doesn't put the tenants first. Pool area is ran down, hasn't been up kept. The gym is about the only attraction that's decent.

Yelp
The Travis has not been a 5 star high rise to say the least. My apartment has leaks, water issues, and I was recently robbed and assaulted outside of the building. Nobody was helpful with providing the information I needed. I asked for a copy of my lease for my attorney to view so I could see my rights for the leak issues and I was delivered a letter from The Travis' representation lawyer and they told me I needed to move out in less than two weeks. One day I had over 6 construction guys in my apartment. With covid going around that's not right or I was not warned. This high rises customer service is awful to resolve major issues. the building was built too fast and has a lot of issues. My house is unlivable yet they can't accommodate or help come to a reasonable agreement with the leak issue. So we have been living in fear of our health with mildew, leaks, a management that can't communicate in safe way via covid times. We have had constant issues with mildew, leaks and unreasonable solutions. Most people complain about the humidity in this building and I'm sure that doesn't help the leaks. DONT MOVE IN

Yelp
Stopped by on a Wednesday evening just to inquire about some information, and had a great experience. Looking for an apartment can be an exhausting experience but the two people that helped me out were great. The building is still under construction but to my surprise I was still able to get a look at some possible units. I worked with Braxton and Brittney (hope I spelled that right). Both were knowledgeable and beyond nice. They were very helpful and didn't make me feel like there was a rush. The building itself is still in construction phase but was able to see a few different unit types and was pretty surprise how well they could make me visualize the units even though it wasn't done. The outside pool area looks like it's going to be amazing. Definitely worth a look if you are looking for midtown area living.

Yelp
This review is solely on my experience touring the community. I'm moving to The Travis apartments in about 30 days, need I say anymore about how my tour went :) First off, not only was I greeted by the most friendliest staff out of the 7 properties I toured (concierge worker, valet workers, the leasing consultant), I was also greeted by the most amazing smell (refreshing soothing smell as you walk onto the property you feel relaxed). Love it!!! Mr. Braxton Perkins was our leasing consultant. We were so comfortable touring with him. He is such a people person. We laughed throughout the whole tour. He took his time answering all our questions and then some. We didn't feel rushed but instead we felt a welcoming energy. If you are looking to tour this community, ask for Braxton. I'm sure you'll end up leasing once you tour with him. I've had minimal interaction with the other leasing consultants when I call with either a question regarding the community or regarding my application, they've been helpful. The building is so beautiful and clean. The rich royal blue colors is so attractive, I just love it! I love almost everything about this place. This high-rise apartment has pretty good perks (concierge, valet parking, nice pool with cabanas, a huge gym and amazing views of the city). I love the floor to ceiling windows throughout the apartment. The view that I'll be waking up to every morning is breath-taking. I'm not even exaggerating :) I can't wait to meet my new neighbors at the pool or the gym. I look forward to a fun happy year living at The Travis Apartments. Since this review is based on my touring experience, I will be writing another review as to living at The Travis Apartments in three months. Can't wait to share some more great amazing news with you all!

Gail T.

Yelp
The place is ok. The views and amenities are nice, the tenants seem nice and concierge is very nice and the location is goof to get to places not for safety tho. But its ridiculously overpriced. I pay more monthly for a 1bd than I paid for my previous 4 story giant townhome smh. The internet absolutely sucks for such a tiny apartment and price and I worked from home many days but due to the internet issues, I'm forced to go into the office to get work done which is infuriating. The main garage gate hasn't worked since mid 2021? It's a joke. So lock your doors. The weed smells in the halls are disgusting. Feels like everyone does weed here. Water pressure is low and the electricity, Omg smh. So far there is at least one power outage a month sometimes 2. Most of the time they last 2 -3 hours, sometimes 4-5hr? It's massive safety issue. I am wondering when someone will sue this place. This morning there was yet another one, but because it didnt last long and most people were asleep when it happened, they dont notify people smh. The finishes in the apartment are super low quality, pretty lousy plastic type faux material. I cannot recommend this place unfortunately.

Yelp
Horrible management, hopping now that gray star has took over they will get things fixed. The management that has been here is very unprofessional and rude when trying to talk to them.

Ignacio S.

Yelp
I am writing this review to express my disappointment with how The Travis management handled a big issue that happened to me while living in this properly. It really showed how this property puts their own interest first and they didn't really care to support or help me. I was one of the unfortunate people who got stolen the catalytic converter from my truck. As soon as this incident happened, I reported it to the Travis and filed a police report. I complained to The Travis via email indicating that this incident could have been prevented if the gates would work properly because they had been completely wide open (both 1st and 2nd level gates) for the last several weeks before this incident happened. Since I didn't get any response, I went to speak with them and The Travis indicated that the gates were broken and that they had not fixed them yet because they had received few very expensive quotes to repair them and they were waiting for other quotes to come hoping they were cheaper. This argument completely showed me that they put first their own interest instead of immediately fixing them to provide the safety to our vehicles as well as our apartments from people entering to the apartments from the garage levels... And even more importantly, I WAS NOT THE FIRST CASE of a stolen catalytic converter, few days earlier, it happened to another person. A good property management, would have fixed this issue RIGHT AWAY after the first incident. Right after this happened, the Travis really didn't help me at all, all they did (and they took pride on this over a phone call) was to give me a parking tag so I could use my rental car. Well, that pass I had to request it myself (they didn't even think about it) and once I received it, it didn't work because they did not set it up correctly... I personally sent an email next day of the incident to the Travis asking in which way The Travis was going to support the cost to fix my truck which was quoted to me at 3,500 USD. I am still waiting for a response to that email. Since they never emailed me or called me after the incident, I had to call them and they indicated that the Travis is not responsible for the liability of our vehicles neither for their safety. They also indicated that maintaining the gates is not their responsibility. And they are right, if you ready the contract, you will find this information. During this desperate and discouraging call, they made very clear that this is my issue and that they were not going to support me at all. The only thing they said was that the previous tenant who had this issue was able to claim some of the cost thru the renter's insurance. I called my insurance, and they were clear that they only cover damages and materials inside of the apartment, not my truck... So I called back The Travis to ask if they could please get in contact with the tenant and ask him about more details on how he was able to claim that money so maybe I could try that way... They said they would help me, well, it has been more than a month and no call or email from them yet. I have been waiting to write this message in the hopes that someone at the Travis would show support and help me with this issue. Since the incident happened, they haven't emailed or called me one single time so they made it very clear that they don't care for a moment to support their residents once a serious issue happens, even if it is caused by their lack of responsibility and safety concerns for their residences.

Yelp
Looking for an apartment in the Houston mid town area ? The Travis has everything you are looking for . I am very impressed with their management team , super friendly and down to the earth for all your needs. Can not wait to move in next month !

H J.

Yelp
I have been a resident for almost 2 years and have had a pretty good experience. It's an ideal location for me because I'm within 8 minutes of my job. The front office has always been helpful with my concerns.

Kip K.

Yelp
Just don't do it. Has to be something better than this. 4 1/2 months after moving out still no deposit back. Lived here 26 long months. Don't do it. Go somewhere else.

Yelp
In all honesty. Holli is absolutely outstanding and is a great asset to The Travis! I recommend anyone searching for a place! Ask for Holli at The Travis! After spending days looking for a place. I am thankful I worked with her. She was very professional, attentive to all my questions and concerns. I truly appreciate the time she took to make sure she went above and beyond to help me feel at home and find the best options for me! Not to mention The Travis is a beautiful place!

Miss J.

Yelp
I came to inquire about apartment and didn't really like how I was received. They told me they were busy but someone else walked up after me and is still in there. I currently live at Drewey place and was trying to stay in the same vicinity and structure but first impressions are everything especially this day and age. I'll continue my efforts at another property.

Allie K.

Yelp
The front desk staff is absolutely atrocious. I've never been treated so poorly at a "luxury establishment". It's insane how you guys treat people.

Adam P.

Yelp
DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! Don't be fooled by the beautiful amenities or be swayed by the incredible location of this building. I've been a resident for almost two years and while there were problems the first year, it's nothing like what I've experienced this last year since GREYSTAR took over. Neither sets of gates have worked in the last 12 months resulting in dozens of BREAK-INS and VANDALISM to numerous cars. When reported to management, the response to the community has been that you can't rely on their security measures to keep your items safe. My car was vandalized in December of 2022 and I immediately emailed the property manager but never received a response, only an email generated to the entire community. I emailed several more times over the following weeks and only received a response when I CC'ed her boss on the email. On another note, there are 3 elevators and they are rarely all functioning at the same time. Currently, the air conditioning is out in the common areas and the cleaning staff seems to have been reduced to one or two days a week as the community is filthy. To reiterate DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!

Shaniah D.

Yelp
NEVER EVER EVER LIVE HERE. All the residents talk about how much they hate it. To put it into perspective I've submitted over 22 service requests for my apartment. 22! They also towed my car out of our garage while I have a Travis sticker on it. So poorly made, and the management does not look out for residents at ALL.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews but thought this one deserved some recognition. Since I'm about to be on the market for a new place to call home, I stopped by this community to get pricing and check out a few layouts. The concierge is very welcoming and accommodating and the manager is very sweet informative. The property has a beautiful luxurious interior, the amenities are awesome and the views are amazing. Two thumbs up guys, I look forward to seeing more of y'all at The Travis! ;)

David C.

Yelp
I'm always visiting a good friend of mine and the leasing office is nothing but helpful and professional. Chris does a super job of assisting me with any questions or needs while I'm there. Thank you Chris!

Brianda R.

Yelp
Visited the office last recently and Christopher was quick to help me find what I needed in such a timely and helpful manner. He listened to my wants and needs in an apartment and presented me with a bunch of great options. If your looking for someone who is genuinely willing to help you find your new home, I recommend meeting with Christopher!

Yelp
Loved the place very clean and neat. Very nice also the staff there are super nice and friendly

Yelp
UPDATE: After speaking with Mrs. Perry from corporate we were able to come to a resolution. She went above and beyond with her customer service and apologized for my experience with the Travis. She went ahead and refunded the entire $900.00 and ensured that business would be handled differently moving forward.

Judicael Noel T.

Yelp
This luxury high-rise deserves a five star. The place gives a modern and luxury experience. The amenities are beautiful, the members of the staff are very welcoming and very helpful. Highly recommended!

Allie R.

Yelp
As a locator, I visit a ton of different communities. I am beyond impressed with the experience from start to finish working with The Travis. Everyone from the valet, to the concierge, to the entire leasing team was so attentive and made sure we felt special. The community itself is a dream with fantastic amenities and large units. The views are to die for!! I highly recommend The Travis to anyone who may be interested. Everyone was wearing a mask as well!!!

Caitlin M.

Yelp
Great staff! Very attentive and eager to help or take care of any issues. Leasing process was seamless from start to finish and the building is amazing!

Yelp
Tatyana was such a huge help through out the tour of the property. Such a gorgeous community and such an amazing team!!! I love my apartment!
