Where to Eat and Drink While Catching Some Rays in Sunny Sausalito

"The Trident's 19th-century pedigree as a former yacht club explains its enviable waterfront position enhanced by great city views. More famous for its ’60s and ’70s musical legacy than for its food, the Trident was a spirited hangout for rock stars like Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Jerry Garcia, and The Rolling Stones. Clam chowder, fish tacos, and hearty cioppino reign." - Lauren Saria, Eater Staff

The food here was delicious! My waiter seemed a little off, not sure how to describe it and there were a lot of flies clustered around the restaurant. I would probably opt to order out moving forward.

Stopped at Trident after biking across the Golden Gate Bridge — such a perfect spot to unwind! They kindly offered free bike parking, which was a great bonus. The oysters were absolutely fresh and flavorful, and the fried calamari and shrimp were perfectly crispy and delicious. Great food, welcoming service, and unbeatable views. Highly recommend! 🦪🚲🌉

Full disclosure, we didn't plan on eating here. We pulled in to valet for the restaurant next door, but we're told parking was for Trident patrons only so we stayed. Let me tell you, fate brought us to the right place! It has a charming, old-school interior, an amazing location on the water (we saw a seal and multiple dolphins), strong, boozy cocktails to help you unwind and damn good food to sober you up after day drinking. Plus, with no wait for a table at lunchtime on a Saturday, it was a win all the way around for me.

Overall, we had an excellent experience, having drinks at the Trident. The views are simply amazing and the patio is extremely nice. We did not have any food therefore we cannot recommend or rate that aspect of this restaurant. The cocktails we have were excellent.

Google
Nice place to visit for the historical aspect but otherwise not worth the effort. The table was sticky and the place needs a deep clean and renovation. The Tequila Sunrise was average, my Chowder was good but everyone else was disappointed with their food. Nice view of the bay and SF and when every other restaurant was booked at 7pm on a Saturday, now we know why this one wasn’t. Cool Stones story and only in Marin County does the Gov’t put up a plaque memorializing the story quoting Keith Richards and the 72 Cocaine and Tequila Sunrise US tour.

Never in my life have I received slower service. Absolutely mind blown that from the time we walked into the restaurant (NOT busy) it took us ~30m to receive a single beer at our table. Paid the check as soon as our drinks arrived and couldn’t leave soon enough. View was nice though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Google
The location, the history, and our awesome barkeep made our random stop in here...very memorable, and worth returning. My daughter and I only had drinks at the bar, and oh what a drink it was, my Martini rocked...(and rolled), as we listened to our server explaining all the history surrounding famous rock bands, their songwriting opportunities that happened within these famous walls, their music, and the many social gatherings of those bands back in the 60's. Looking forward to dining here, with that million $$ view! "I know, it's only rock and roll, but I like it" 🎶

Fantastic risotto, make sure you let them know you want your crab cakes hot otherwise you’re gambling with your dining experience. Israel and the supporting staff were great.

Yelp
So, was planning to go to The Barrel House but, when we came across this place and read about the history, totally changed our minds. Great experience! I loved the interior. It felt like visiting someone's cool house in the '70's I never order fish and chips. Too many calories for something that might be mushy. My judgment was good. This was excellent. Very crunchy and the cod was super fresh. The waiter was fun. We split the Frank Sinatra Festival Cake, flourless chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, cheesecake, and roasted strawberries. What?! Yes, I was really good! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Nice outdoor seating that can accommodate dogs. Food came out fast. That was it Never saw our waiter again after they dropped off the food. I guess you only get one glass of water and one glass of wine :( Had the chiopinnio and the scallops were over cooked and had no flavor other than the burned sear they put in. Someone came to clean our table and that's finally when I could ask someone for another drink after sitting her for an hour with no server. Not a great experience.

Yelp
My wife and I (locals from Mill Valley) decided to have dinner at the Trident tonight (July 5th). First, i must say that although the Trident has been architecturally "updated", and is now fully accessible for those who use wheelchairs and scooters for mobility, it has successfully retained its ambiance of the "60's"! Being inside the restaurant brings back many memories of when the Kingston Trio owned the restaurant, and of course, the view can't be beat! And those are probably the reason you should consider going there! The present food and service, not! We first ordered drinks. Although the restaurant was not at all busy (maybe 10-15 tables occupied), it took our server at least 15 minutes to get our drinks to us. Although I ordered a Scotch & soda with a lemon twist, my drink was served with two wedges of lime! So, I had to ask another server (ours was really hard to find!) for a lemon twist. Other than that, the drinks were fine. Then we ordered our salad - a Ceasar Salad split, and one order of the Fish & Chips and one order of the Fried Misto (fried Calamari, Cod, large prawns, and a few pieces of Zucchini and yellow squash). The Ceasar was good, although the white anchovies (2 filets) were layed on top of the salad, not blended with the oil and other ingrediants to ensure their flavor is spread throughout the salad, as the traditional Ceasar Salad was always made). I don't believe it had a coddled egg mixed into the salad dressing, either, which is another traditional part of a true Ceasar Salad. But the Romain lettuce was fresh, and the salad dressing was good. When the entrees arrived (served, like the salad, by another server), both of us were surprised by thw amount of seafood there was on both plates. Although Tartar Sauce was served ed wirh the Fish & Chips entre, my Misto was served with an Aoli dip, which was good, but I was not offered Tartar Sauce, something I would have preferred. Also, my Misto deep fried seafood looked like it had been battered with corn meal, again, good, but not traditional. When the server first took our order for salad, I had also asked for an order of sour dough French bread. Although that item never showed up, we weren't charged for it, but my issue is that it was ordered and we didnt get it! I would have liked having sourdough French bread with my salad! The two entrees were both fresh, good, and large portions, although I would have preferred a different batter for my seafood. I think, during our whole meal, the original server who took our bar qnd food order only showed up once during the time we were their (except at the end of our meal when I had to ask another server to find ours so I could get the check and pay for the meal. Also, the young woman at the front desk who seated us, who was very nice, or anyone else, for that matter, walked around the dining room inside and the deck outside to check with the customers to see if their drinks, meal, and service were all OK. Apparently the management didn't train their host/hostess staff to do that. If the hostess had come by our table during our meal, I would have told her that at no time during our meal did our server come by and ask if we would like any drinks (wine, champagne, beeror a second set of the drinks we had originally ordered. At $18 each!!) Will we go back to the Trident? Probably, although I'm not sure i/we will eat anything, based on the pretty outrageous starter and entre prices the Trident now charges! For the two of us, with the two drinks and the two entrees, our bill came to an astounding $131.92!!! And that was for two people! Clearly, the Trident owner/Manager dont expect locals from Marin or even the Bay Area to dine there more than once, which is too bad, since as a local, and when the Kingston Trio owned it, I dined there regularly. How many stars? We'll, I guess I will leave my last review of the Trident's two stars, mostly (1 1/2 stars for the vew, and the 1/2 star for the very poor-horrible service, but somewhat acceptable food) This is an edit addition: When reading some of the other reviews, I learned that the Trident actually add a surcharge! It wasnt enough that our bill forbthe 2 of us was (without tax or surcharge) $115.00, the owner/manager added a surcharge of $5.75 to our bill! Because of that, my review went down to 1 star, and would have been "0" stars, but Yelp requires at least one star!! We will find a different restaurant with a view in Sausalito in the future!

Yelp
Another Sausalito classic! I've tried many of Sausalito's waterfront restaurants and Trident did not disappoint! Trident is located at the end, with great Bay views spanning from Tiburon, Angel Island, Alcatraz and the city. Service was quick and attentive. We started off with the Frito Misto (MUST get) which is a great starter dish with many seafood: fresh cod, jumbo prawns, calamari with zucchini and yellow squash. You can taste how fresh the seafood was! For entrees, we ordered the Steak Frites, Linguine Alfredo with prawns and Burst Cherry Tomato Pasta with prawns. Look at the size of the dishes! You will leave feeling stuffed! Large portions, decent pricing, good food, you can't go wrong at Trident. The seagulls on the patio made us laugh so hard! They're such cunning creatures, looking around for their new meal and pecking at the pepper jars.

Yelp
What a treat to have a day in Sausalito with beautiful weather and beautiful views with friends for a birthday celebration. Our buddy called to make a larger reservation outdoors and fyi, that's the ticket! We had a corner table with the most beautiful backdrop of the water, boats, SF, and clear skies. Such a treat, would highly recommend if wanting the same vibe to call ahead. The Trident is a historic staple to the area, establishing the Tequila Sunrise in 1972..fun fact! The restaurant is pretty large and has a psychedelic vibe to it, with odes to those that frequented this spot like the Stones and Janis Joplin. Loved our waiter (Mify?), he even put a tiny birthday hat on to join our squad in celebration. We ordered the Whitefish Ceviche (recommend!) and Oysters to start for the table, followed by a cup of the Creamy San Francisco Clam Chowder and Classic New England Style Lobster Roll for me. Delicious soup! I'm a big fan of creamy chowders and this one according to the menu is a 60-year recipe and had bacon, yum-tastic. The lobster roll unfortunately didn't do it for me ~ I should have asked what "classic New England style" meant, because I wasn't expecting more of a lobster salad vs. warm lobster/butter pieces. So, that's on me! Although I wonder if anyone else has run into that issue when ordering the lobster roll? I opted for a Caesar salad upgrade vs. fries, but was still given fries anyways. A simple error turned out to be a fun meal add-on I wasn't expecting. Fries were crispy, would order differently next time. My husband ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and that was delicious! It mentioned "famous" next to it, so had to try it ~ well worth the buttermilk bliss! Something to also note, they have awesome Kid's Meals which come in Bento Boxes (see pic). Plenty of food for the curious eater. Now that I'm taking this into consideration, I have to shout out the spots that give ample kiddo love in creative ways! Well done there! Overall I would def. come back for apps, drinks, live music, the chowder, and potentially try a few other menu items with the outdoor view when I'm ready to open the wallet a bit to splurge on an experience vs. just a meal.

Yelp
We were recommended The Trident by a friend, so we decided to check it out since he said it was really good. We walked in around 2:30 pm on a weekday for lunch and got seated right away outside, which I highly recommend if the weather's nice. The view of San Francisco from the patio is incredible, and there's enough shade to stay comfortable. The service was great. Our hostess was super friendly and checked in on us a couple of times. Food came out pretty fast, maybe 10-15 minutes after we ordered. As for the food, it was good, but nothing mind-blowing. We ordered a few of their popular dishes: the shrimp po'boy, oysters, Trident cioppino, chile slaw, clam chowder, and creme brûlée (which they gave us on the house for my birthday...Very sweet!). I'd personally skip the chile slaw and the clam chowder. The slaw didn't really have any chile flavor, maybe a stray bell pepper or two, and the chowder... honestly one of the blandest I've had. The highlights for me were the shrimp po'boy, oysters, and the creme brûlée. The sandwich was simple but solid. It had crispy shrimp and was in soft bread. Oysters were sweet! The creme brûlée was a classic, well-executed dessert. The cioppino was also pretty good. Had lots of seafood and the garlic bread on the side was perfectly toasted. All in all, it's a decent spot with great views and solid service. Not sure I'd rush back, but I'm glad we tried it.

Yelp
I had a pretty good lunch at the Trident. Came here with a large group with a reservation. Service was painfully slow, even though the restaurant didn't seemed slammed and there were lots of empty tables around us. At the end we had to get up to leave and pay at the front since we waited for the check so long. I got the burger which was pretty good. It didn't wow me and the price was a little high for it to be only okay. The vibe here is the best part of the restaurant. We sat out on the back deck above the water and had great views of the city across the bay.

Yelp
Mediocre food, amazing views, just your typical tourist trap / Mother's Day brunch spot. Come for the ambiance and leave your taste buds at home. The food was so untasty I didn't even bother taking pictures apparently. Service is very friendly. Pets are allowed in the back patio!

Yelp
The Trident is an absolute gem in Sausalito--with incredible views, warm service, and the perfect Irish coffee to top it all off. Our party stopped in and each had the double Buena Vista Irish Coffee, and wow--what a treat. Rich, smooth Peerless organic coffee, a generous pour of Tullamore D.E.W., and a cloud of fresh whipped heavy cream... it was perfectly balanced and soul-warming, especially with the bay breeze just outside the window. To our surprise, they also served complimentary sourdough bread, which paired wonderfully with the drinks. A simple touch, but so appreciated. Whether you're starting your day or winding it down, The Trident nails that classic coastal charm with quality to match. We'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
Classic Sausalito waterfront dining experience. Could not have asked for better weather to dine on the back patio. Came with a small group, shared some apps and brunch. Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I had the salmon hash which was excellent. Service was a little on the slow side but who need to be rushed when the ambiance is so nice.

Yelp
So glad we decided to come here! The bad reviews were a little dramatic (IMO) the service was great. Our servers were amazing and attentive. The vibes were great. Views were great. The inside had a cool vibe going on. I ordered a burger, my husband got the lobster roll. He said it was good but a bit small.. no complaints for my burger. Also ordered a clam chowder, lacked on the salt but not something I couldn't fix. We would definitely come back again!

Yelp
We came here with a huge group on a Sunday for lunch and had a great time and great food. It was also a perfect day to take in the view. Someone from the restaurant also shared some history of the place and when the Rolling Stones came there after a show. Had fun drinks all around and I loved my scallops. They took good care of our large group.

Yelp
We were touring my sister in San Francisco visiting the Golden Gate Bridge yesterday. We drove to Sausalito after. We had plan to eat somewhere else but my hubby saw The Trident restaurant remembering our previous lunches here. Quickly I made a reservation for 3 and made it at 12:15 pm. We got sat down by the window. Our server Gabriella was pleasant. We just ordered the Arnold Palmer, Sprite & Lemonade for drinks. My sister & I got the Captain's Platter to share and my hubby had his favorite Fish & Chips. The ambiance was beautiful as always. The casual food was good. The crème brûlée dessert was not so sweet. The server said they make it in house. The balance of sweetness contributed to a more enjoyable and complex taste experience. We saw the ferry boat passing by. The other male server who was helping was nice as well. Then around 12:45 pm, a large group of customers arrived. Good thing we ordered our lunch already! Overall I don't mind returning to The Trident for casual dining.

Yelp
The outside patio with view over the bay to the city is best here! But also the fish of the day plates are great and gluten-free! Only place in Sausalito I'm aware of with valet bike-parking!

Yelp
Let's be honest, we all came for the view. Didn't have high hopes for the food at 3/5 stars and turns out that's just where they belong at. Can't go to a seafood waterfront restaurant without oysters! Ribs were okay. Weren't as tender as I had hoped but you can really taste the pineapple flavor. The coleslaw was not really coleslaw or I'm not sure how they do it but there's no Mayo, just a vinaigrette sorta dressing. 3/5 Calamari: could be more crispy and maybe a little seasoning. Just the sauce isn't enough to make it delicious. 2/5 Tacos: not sure what they were aiming for but the ingredients did not blend well at all. 1.5/5. Clam chowder: really watery and not creamy at all. Was actually insanely salty as well. 1/5 Ceviche: It was decent. A lot of fish but felt like there should've been more veggies/ other ingredients to balance it out. 3.5/5 TLDR: yeah mostly just came here for the view. Wouldn't recommend getting a full blown meal as it's quite expensive. Just get some basic, maybe a cocktail and enjoy the view on a nice sunny day!

Yelp
Okay, I was impressed by the beach vibes of this restaurant the moment I walked in and saw the posters and memorabilia from the Kingston Trio -- which I've never head of, but I thought that was very cool! Another interesting and thoughtful piece of information to point out that they do was out a brief history of the Trident on the menu! Again, very cool! My beautiful girlfriend and I were seated right away, and got a really good view of the Bay. Our server was very friendly and attentive with us. Now, the food. We wanted to try out the Poke and the calamari. I thought both were very fresh and nicely put together, as you can see from the pictures. I'd like to highlight the sauce that came with the calamari - it was sooo good! Spicy and sweet that I would put it on anything! It's that good. I do think the calamari could have been more crispy. Some of the breading kept coming off. The fish and chips were okay. Hear me out - it was perfectly cooked, but it had too much oil. It might've been out of the water, but that fish was swimming in oil. The chips were crispy and had a great taste to it. I'd love to come back here next time, I'm sure you'll see us visit again when we're in the area!

Yelp
I went yesterday and ordered a margarita. When I mixed it with my straw, a huge cockroach floated to the top of the drink. I let them know but they still didn't discount or gave any complimentary drinks. Not even an apology or nothing they just kept like nothing happened throughout my experience in the restaurant.

Yelp
We had a great time at trident and the food was delicious. We had the pork chop and organic chicken breast sandwhich. Service was fast and we got a table with a view out on the patio. Don't leave your plate unattended while getting up to use the restroom, the lady next to use had a seagull swoop in and take her oyster!

Yelp
All of it , from The service upon entering of Israel, the communication was superb , his handling of our requests , the timely waiters who brought the best G and T,

Guss A.

Yelp
Good food and very nice view on the outside patio. You can see SF and Alcatraz. Calamari was good and the seafood mixes.

Yelp
Myself and 3 of my friends went here for lunch yesterday - and we got our drinks straight away. Then we waited for a long time (50 mins) for our 2nd drinks order and our food! I spoke with a waiter who was clearing tables - as it was obvious to us that people who arrived after us were being served! It became clear that the waitress forgot to put our order through - so our food was rushed and tasted cold and terrible. I just rang the restaurant today and spoke to the manager and he hung up on me - so there u go! $350 for lunch @ The Trident and the restaurant manager doesn't want to even hear about it! Professionalism at its best!

Yelp
Beautiful views at this restaurant, we were able to sit outside and face the bay. This establishment has been here for a LONG time, and it's a cool spot. They have an extensive drink menu so I was able to pick a tasty cocktail. For the entree, I ordered the scallops and risotto. The scallops were seared perfectly and tasted very fresh. The orange sauce added a nice creamy richness. The risotto was also really good. Service was attentive and we were able to bring the dog to dine outside with us.

Yelp
Slowest service I have ever received. Take your money elsewhere - plenty of other places with nice views in Sausalito that actually value their customers and won't charge you $36 for a mediocre lobster roll
google avatar

Derek W.

Yelp
We love to eat at the Trident! They have excellent food, the staff is great, the views of the bay are outstanding, and if you like some music history, this is the place! Many famous people have been here including The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and others who live nearby. The Tolling Stones Tequila Sunrise was created here (as some say) and they named their tour after the drink in 1972. The pictures of Janis Joplin are placed above her favorite table in the house, where she could look out over the bay, glance over at the house she stayed in, and had her own little exit on the side of the Trident! If you want some great food, have great views of the bay, and be a part of some music history, check it out...you will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Cutest place ever and the server sat us right next to the window! I loved the vibes of the place, super laid back and bouijee at the same time. I got the burger and it was incredibly hard to eat (too big, could not bite into it). That would be my only complaint.
google avatar

Yelp
Great cocktails. Good fish and great fries. The beef dip was overly fatty and messy and not good. A miss. Pretty views. Friendly old school vibe.
google avatar

Gaby L.

Yelp
First impression was how cool the interior design looked. It gave off a vintage feel to it which I loved! The great thing too is me and my boyfriend were seated right away. We started off with some appetizers and drinks-- I got an earl grey tea, and for us to share we ordered the poke tuna and calamari. I thought the poke tuna was good though it seemed like it needed the wasabi on the side. As for the Calamari, it was okay... every time I took a bite out of it the fried bread crumbs kept falling off. It lost the crispy texture of it. On to the main entree-- the fish and chips was really good! The fried batter wasn't too heavy, and it was light and crispy each bite I took. Although, the fries could be more golden and crispy but other than that the fish and chips is a must-try! Overall, I recommend this place for anyone who wants a crispy fish and chip!

Yelp
Slightly upscale Seafood restaurant that is right on the water in Sausolito (especially if you opt to sit outside) Have a decent selection I ordered a burger and it was incredibly undercooked to the point that they could have served it as "beef tar-tar". They did cook me a new one, but the first one was so jarringly undercooked that I am still in shock The re-cooked burger was fine, but nothing special at all

Thomas K.

Yelp
We both got food poisoning from eating there yesterday. I got the all green salad that had sand in it and had to blandest most flavorless green goddess dressing. The asparagus in it had been blanched and then grilled and was so limp and soggy it was disgusting. They definitely really need to improve their hygiene and just do a better job making tastier food. And we paid $150 for this garbage.

Yelp
I think yelp needs to somehow change their star rating. One for food and one for service. Service was ok. We did not have a reservation but were able to be seated right away outside. We requested a table on the deck. The only thing the restaurant has for themselves, is the view. We started off with drinks and appetizers. Deviled eggs with bacon were not creamy. The yolk was dry and flavorless. Shishito pepper had a nice charbroil to them, and that's it. No seasoning. They give you a lemon to squeeze on top. Truffle fries, what an absolute disappointment. They actually made me sick. They tasted like they were smoked and sprinkled with Parmesan. They came with a warm, garlic aioli. Nothing special. We were so disappointed we decided not to order dinner. We had 3 appetizers, and 2 drinks each and our bill was $117.

Yelp

Yelp
Poor food: fresh ingredients but someone forgot the seasoning. I had grilled salmon on a salad that was pretty free of flavor; same with the poke salad. Others in our party said the clams and mussels were nothing to write home about. +1 star for kids meals- very nicely balanced- the burger is more like a slider; fries, salad and fruit were part of the bento box. Very nice touch. Service: waited so so long for dessert. We asked after 10 min wait. Waited another 5-10 min then asked for the check. Dessert came quickly thereafter. SMH. Ambiance: the views are great, uh, like they are from any part of Sausalito. We thought we were witnessing a boat sinking- that's how clear the water view was- but we realized it was just the booth seats that need to be repaired. Parking is only $7/hr, valet. DO NOT go to the "public parking" up the street on the left (opposite the water). They're a rip off at $18/hr and any increment up to 30 min past an hour is treated as a 1/2 hour. Our kids' meals cost less than parking. Or use the city lot just up the way. Sorry Trident. There are so many other places worth checking out.

Yelp
The Trident in Sausalito: A Mixed Bag of Mussels and Missteps On a chilly, windy, and overcast Thursday evening - my idea of outdoor dining weather - I venture to The Trident in Sausalito. This is a great area to stroll, with plenty of charming little art galleries, boutiques, and attentively manicured eateries. Arriving around 7:30pm, just half an hour before closing, the host is initially reluctant to seat me outside. I tell him I am dining alone, his hesitance dissolves, and I find myself cool and comfy with the water boundlessly stretching out from beneath my table. I begin at the bar. My quest for a near 0% alcohol cocktail begins with limited options: Bloody Mary mix or fruit punch. Not exactly inspiring. Opting to craft my own, the conversation with the bartender goes something like this: "Got any shrubs?" "Shrubs?" "Shrubs." "Shrubs?" "Nevermind. Egg white?" "No egg white." "Flowers?"" She shows me a single whole lime. "...Luxardo cherries." The bartender wavers between bright red ice cream sundae cherries and some sad, watery, off-brand purple maraschinos. Opting for simplicity, I ask for fresh lemon, simple syrup, shaken and strained, served up in a coupe glass with a dash of angostura bitters and, yes, the unfortunate dessicated remains of those cherries for garnish. The result is a rosy concoction served down in a rocks glass filled with rapidly-melting cola ice, pink all the way through with an indeterminate source of coloring (grenadine? grapefruit? we may never know). Three mangled cherries have been haphazardly skewered by a toothpick and dangle in three directions, dunked into my mystery pink drink. I return. I apologize. "I am a princess, you see." I am. The ice is strained back out and re-poured into a martini glass, which I am told is the only option available for drinks served up. Toothpick dunked below the surface again, the citrus floating with a dozen tiny ice shards, the telltale result of weak, wet, and melting ice which has been shaken to freezing oblivion and then beyond, resulting in shattered crystals and out in full force thanks to the absence of a double strain. The effort felt Sisyphean, but I tipped the price of the drink and then some in recognition of the attempt. I have a soft spot for bartenders, and apparently, even this poor unfortunate soul I can only assume was dragged from the rear kitchen and forced to fill in behind the bar that day. Escargot? Not today, sir. Oysters? $48 for 12. I retreat to the P.E.I. Mussels & Steamed Clams, a promising dish made with garlic, shallots, white wine, clam fumet, chili flakes, fines herbs, and olive oil, and served with garlic bread. The mussels and clams themselves were quite good - plump, flavorful, and fresh. The broth is savory and rich, but not so much that even dunking can save the garlic bread. It is tough, tepid, and leaves an oily residue that clings unpleasantly to the insides of my mouth. At $25, the entree is a bargain, but a mixed one. Service throughout the evening was warm and congenial, a bright spot in the overall experience. The interior of The Trident is attractive, while the seating outdoors offers the same charming view of the water as every other establishment on Bridgeway, and the generous open shore between each of them. In conclusion, while the mussels and clams are worth the visit, I wouldn't recommend ordering a cocktail here. For a similar view and a better drinking experience, head down the street to Barrel House Tavern. There, you can enjoy $2 oysters in their cozy indoor lounge. Their bartenders even know what a shrub is.

Yelp
spectacular views, friendly staff, but the menu is an overpriced mediocrity. It's basically a tourist trap. Few locals go there. It has a LOT of potential, but it requires a major change.

Yelp
My husband and I started coming here to celebrate our birthdays and anniversaries since 10 years ago. Even though the price has been going up, we still love their food. We brought our kids here this year, and they love the food here too. Service here is always great.

Yelp
We had a pleasant getaway from San Francisco and took the ferry to Sausalito across the bay. What a beautiful, little town with lots of shops and restaurants. We decided to eat at the Trident seafood restaurants which is located over the water on its own pier. The views and ambiance were amazing, but that's where anything positive ended. The food was sub par and the service was slow and terrible. The place was empty, maybe 6 tables occupied at 5 PM on a Saturday. Food portions, although labeled large, were adequate at best; namely the oysters - large my butt. The server had to be chased down multiple times and barely spoke English. He had difficulty understanding us as well. The silverware was filthy, I had to get up and go to the bar and ask for new spoon. It looked like it had dried clear glue on it. I say that because we tried scraping it off with a butter knife and barely could chip it away. Mind you, that was our entertainment while waiting for our server to return from somewhere. The appetizer was served at the same time as my meal and that's an instant turn off for me. I was going to send it back since my meal was in front of me, but the 1/2 of a roasted chicken I ordered was so dry, I couldn't eat it. So, I ate the appetizer as my meal. We also were perplexed that there was a 5% surcharge added to the bill, that was not the tip. We discovered they added it to every bill to offset the increased wages the State of California mandates now. We have been here for almost a week and no other places in the city did that. I'm sure they blended into the cost of the food, but still gave us a sour taste of how ridiculous California laws can get. I wish I took pics for y'all but my phone died. On our way out we stopped at the bathrooms which were gross, unclean, and out of toilet paper and paper towels.

Yelp
Very nicely situated along the Sausalito bay overlooking DTN SF. Came here for weekend brunch late fall via ferry from SF. It's a short walk from the dock. They offer a variety of delicious food and cocktails. Service is a little slow even though it wasn't as busy. After eating, take a stroll along their downtown to burn off the calories before heading back to SF. Highly recommended as a day trip and feasting here. You cannot beat the view.

Yelp
I walked by The Trident the last time I was in Sausalito and mentally noted that I had to return just to try this place. Situated right on the water with immaculate views of San Francisco, this cute restaurant is a great way to spend your afternoon or evening with friends and family. We came here on a Saturday afternoon with a reservation, but it didn't look super packed until closer to dinner time. Also, it seemed like their parking lot was valet only for a price, so we opted for street parking nearby. The Trident has cozy heat lamps for their outdoor patio seating, which is essential when you're by the water. We enjoyed wine, coffee, and delicious plates of food outside and I would highly recommend sitting on their patio if you're able to. I ordered their Pan Seared King Salmon and my partner ordered the Lobster Roll. My salmon was cooked so well and the texture was soft. It was served on a bed of potatoes and vegetables, which were nice compliments to the salmon. My partner also really enjoyed his lobster roll as it was filled with a lot of lobster meat and the french fries were crispy and well-seasoned. I recommend trying out The Trident if you're in Sausalito; it'll be a wonderful meal filled with beautiful views and quality food.

Yelp
The views! Cannot get over how amazing the views are here, and the overall vibe is perfect. Excellent service and possibly THE best salad I've ever had! Took my mom here for lunch and I had the ahi poke salad (no avocado) and she had the grilled salmon cesar. Both were outstanding! I will be dreaming of this salad, the dressing was light and bright with flavor and the salad had so many textures. The ahi was so fresh, absolutely without flaw. Cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
We came on a Monday for lunch and it wasn't too busy. We had a great view of the bay and enjoyed our sparkling wine and cocktail on the patio in the sunshine. We had a lobster roll, a cheeseburger and clam chowder. Portion sizes were good but it is overall pricey yet normal. Welcome to the Bay Area. Service was friendly. We overall enjoyed our time here.

Yelp
Scomas was closed on Tuesday so we stopped here for an early dinner. My wife had the Clam Chowder bowl with a side of Caesar salad. I had the Combo crab and shrimp Louie salad. Both were good. The Chowder bowl could have been a bit larger though. Ambience is wonderful with views of the bay and service was very good. If you can, ask for a window seat if they're available!

Yelp
Great views from this Restaurant. "Mefi" was our server. Great attitude and very friendly. We ordered the "World Famous" Fish and Chips.($35) They were fresh and delicious ( chips were french fries) the coleslaw was good too! We used the Valet service when we came in. $10 to park . (They charge $7 an hour) Make sure you get your valet card stamped in the restaurant or they will charge you more.

Yelp
Came in on a Monday night (Labor Day), with my family. Service was sub par. We waiting about 10 min to have a server come see us and we had to flag someone. Then the "server" knew nothing, which don't believe he was a server. Food was also sub par, nothing about that place said, wow to me.

Yelp
Good service on the phone, in person, valet was great too. Food was well prepared and presented. We ordered clam chowder in a bread bowl it came with salad. Crab cakes accompanied with salad and avocado toast topped with crab. The orange juice isn't fresher squeezed though even if the menu says it. I hope they fix that The views are perfect, too windy to sit outside for my preference but they have warmers.

Yelp
Good waterfront location. Waiters were nice, but one of the bussers said strange comments that seemed a bit unprofessional and creepy. The food was just ok, and now both of our stomachs are hurting. We had the cioppino. I'd prob eat elsewhere next time in Sausalito Edit: changed my 2 star to a 1 star. We are both sick after eating this. Highly recommend you avoid.

Yelp
Great food and amazing views. I always get the fish and chips which are so good and my partner loves the occasional seasonal Mexican food they have! The view is to die for, you're literally on the ocean and can see San Francisco! Only down side is parking. This is a great date spot overall! Service is always spectacular

Yelp
We came because scomas was fully booked. The view was very nice and we were seated very quickly and thats when it went down hill Poor service. No one checked on us, food we ordered never came out. Lobster roll was not good, lobster was not fresh bun was wet only good thing were french fries Cippino was not fresh, seafood was over cooked, carrots?! Clams/mussels decent but also overcooked Clam chower - small, plain nothing special We also ordered sole, shishito and another cippino that never came... and they gave a poor excuse saying ran out of peppers and never took our order correctly Awful place! Go to Fish. Instead!

Yelp
I can only say in of my visiting here over the last 50 years, the views are Bay Classic. The drinks were perfect. The food is Eyeliscious, and the taste heavenly. Whether a date or family get together with a San Francisco Bay view of San Francisco ... inside or on the deck, it's always chill with an amazing staff. I just went there for lunch and will be returning with friends in a couple weeks. This place was an iconic island of coolness in the late 60's, the place to be seen in the 70's, and still is one of the best romantic locations in the SF Bay Area for dinner. I had a world class Bloody Mary, and we shared beautiful deviled eggs, perfect crab cakes with a fancy salad side, and luscious bowl of fresh Manila clams with perfect garlic bread. Service was fast and friendly. Flavors were spot on. This has always been a special place to me over the decades, and I hope decades to come. Now I bring my beautiful wife and daughter, and share the ultimate chill zone. In a final note about the employees. From the manager to the waiters, bussers, and all that make this place so special; be prepared for smiling faces and plenty of help. Bravo Team Trident.
