OVERCOOKED!! 3rd visit Complete disappointment... well seasoned. turkey was completely DRY!! NOT HOT!! Couldn't eat fries AT ALL, HARD.. She answered the phone like she hates her job yet slightly better attitude in person.

I gave the atmosphere 3 stars because that's how it's SUPPOSED to look and I loved it. I don't wanna go to a sound food spot that looks all polished and shiny and stuff. Give me a spot like this where I don't even have to guess who's in the back cooking! Food was INCREDIBLE!

I ordered 3 turkey bite meals, macaroni and cheese, and 3 yams costing 80 dollars. The turkey bites were fried too hard. The macaroni were scraps. The macaroni wasn't whole noodles. The yams were bitter, and I tried to dress it up at home. Brown sugar, vanilla extract, white sugar, and butter. Nothing worked. The yams were still bitter, and I trashed it. Cooks who don't taste the food their giving to the public is bad business.

Food was nasty. I ordered the Cornish hen dinner which comes with mashed potatoes potato’s and string beans. Cornish hen looked old and smelt old. String beans taste like citrus, gravy taste like cinnamon. Cornbread was hard. Food just taste old.

Cajun fried turkey wing Basket is the ideal goto Lunch pick up, to toasty golden fried wings juicy and tender with enough Cajun to frost the crispy crinkled fries and the Cajun dipping sauce is a chefs kiss to the sweet rolls included in this 20 dollar basket. The Sweet Potatoe pie is a personal 3in pie only the sweet potatoes weren't whisked fully leaving stains in the pie but the crust was sweet and flaky. The environment was okay but I'd rather get my food and make my scenery fulfilling.

Hard to believe this place has been around for so long and I'm just now trying it!! I went with the recommendation of wings and fries and it was far better than I expected. The meal was large enough to feed me, my wife and daughter. The service was fast and the customer service via phone was good too. Next time I'm going to try the bites or taco, but they have EVERYTHING, and for a great price!! Definitely a Detroit stable!!

Got smoked turkey leg with yams and Mac n cheese the Mac has flavor but dry.. the yams are mashed yams taste like like nut Meg and cinnamon and turkey leg has flavor but dry $29 meal not again

Greens were AMAZING. Cornbread dressing tasted burnt. Seafood gumbo was most rice and sweet potatoes were just okay. Spent $33.50. They were out of turkey breast. First time trying the food and will try it again and hopefully get turkey. Good reviews from everyone I know who has tried it before.

Came to this spot after hearing that it was a historical Detroit gem and it didn't disappoint! We ordered the wing basket with all flats and it was so good! The Michigan gold sauce is also really good. The wings are seasoned with a Cajun spice and they're nice and big - only giving 4 stars because they were great but fried a little harder than I would prefer. The restaurant is small and located on the corner. The service was also pretty fast considering the food we ordered. I'll be happy to go back and try a daily special or breakfast one day!

So, let me tell you I have a long-standing history with this place. I used to enjoy coming here when I was in high school and in the early 2000s. Yesterday, I ordered through Uber Eats. My first order got canceled by the restaurant. I should've accepted that as a sign. Instead, I re-ordered. I ordered the meatballs because my first order of meatloaf got canceled. The Uber Eats driver went to get my order and it was not ready. So he circled back. They still had not reached out to me to let me know that something I had paid for was unavailable. The driver let me speak to them on his personal phone and they agreed to swap out the missing item. The food was supposed to arrive between 12:15-12:35. They made my order run a full hour late.

Website says they close at 9. I just called to place an order for pickup and was told they close at 8:20? What are your correct hours? Love the food but need some consistency regarding hours of service.

I'm so sorry because I'm not from Detroit and I love my people but this food was disgusting y'all, when you first walk in it's outdated but that's fine it wasn't dirty, the women who took my order was blowing her nose at the register after she took my order, yuck that was strike one but she wasn't cooking the food so I let it slide. The toast was drenched in oil because that was not butter the scrambled eggs and sausage were made in the same oil which needs to be changed because baby that oil has run it's course! The only thing that was manageable were the hash browns but they had no flavor I just put ketchup on top and I don't even like ketchup. When I revisit from NY this will not be a place I think twice to try again. Do better! Think twice before you respond to my review with emotion just do better!

How the HELL do you NOT PUT DRESSING in a bag w/a Salad???????????? THIS IS THE VERY REASON BUSINESSES FAIL because they become SLOPPY!!!!!!! My boss had a working lunch and I {stupidly} suggested The Turkey Grill. BIG MISTAKE. The order amounted to about $70 on a Saturday afternoon and I got NO DAMN DRESSING for his salad. What a waste of money. #NeverAgain!!!!!!!

How many times will I visit on our short stay in Detriot? So many items I want to try. We had the wing basket (enough for 2), Smoked turkey leg, turkey soup and Seafood Gumbo. Everyone was happy!

Turkey Grill will get absolutely not another d--- dime from me. I ordered a whole fried turkey for a co-worker's repass to send something different other than 100 fried chicken wings. Because I have always gotten my fried turkey wings from here, I thought it would be okay to get a whole fried turkey as well. Later that week when I seen my co-worker, I asked proudly how was the turkey? Only for them to tell me that was the worst fried turkey that they have ever had. It wasn't fried, it wasn't seasoned and it was dry. I called back to the Turkey Grill to inform them of how displeased they were with the turkey and why? She asked me did I still have the turkey? Are you serious? I support black business all the time, but WHY can't they support you when they give you bad product and when you complain, the customer service gets HORRIBLE as if you didn't spend your hard earn money. POOR PRODUCT AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, NEVER AGAIN.

Turkey bites were a little dry, turkey seafood gumbo was okay not worth the price, turkey meatball dinner was the start of the show but the portion was a lot less than we thought we'd receive for 14 dollars. Over all was happy to support a black owed business.

The smoked turkey leg was dried out unseasoned and I asked for a side a gravy and the gravy didn't have no taste to it I will not be back there they have definitely fell off and they need new cooks who actually know how to cook because I am highly disappointed

Just a nicely decorated Mom and Pop spot. The game was on. People coming in and out. My Angel and I got these two BIG boxes of food! Each of us got the 2 wing box with fries. They wouldn't let me swap the fries out. That was the only bad thing! Knowing that the fries would be dead before we got in, I bought a side of collard greens. That was Sunday afternoon, and I JUST finished! I'm 6'4" I'm full size. Delicious! I WILL be back!!

The staff at the place were very grumpy and rude. I just don't understand how hard it is to take an order without attitude. Some people would do anything to have a job and they seem so ungrateful. I probably won't be back because of the service.

I went to the Harvest Fest and they had their food truck there. I must confess, they have a brick and mortar location not far from where I live and having heard good things about their food, I have been telling myself to give them a try. A group member and I got the pulled Turkey sandwich. So, it was delicious! We both liked it a lot. I will try them again at the shop location on Woodward just north of Grand Blvd.

Not from Detroit but stopped by this spot as we were heading back to the hotel... asked these two guys what would they recommend I order as they were leaving and they said the turkey bites... as I stood in line I heard a lot of ppl order these bites so I was like bet.. definitely hole in the wall feels.. smells good... wait wasn't long to order ... the bites are the turkey wing cut up in pieces basically... the flavor was spot on.. fried a bit hard for me but overall pretty tasty

Last night was my first meal I ever had at the turkey grill. I order the carved turkey salad and my partner ordered chicken wings with mash potatoes and green beens. The truth the salad was great. Was give the mashed potatoes to eat i am not just saying this best mashed potatoes i wave ever eaten also love the green beams and salad. The male casher was so friendly and helpful. Live i said I drove past Turkey Grill A 1000 times. Don't make my mistake go their eat their often. Support a real Detroit Business.

YES, delicious as always, they just keep forgetting the extra sauce. Co-workers have fallen out and still are not cool from 3 years ago about this damn sauce. I got mine tho. Anyway, I Always get a turkey burger, this time I also got the #7 I think, 2 flats, 2 drums and fries. No matter what, else I get I eat have the burger and taste the other and it was Good. We ordered carry out but it was reported that the place as clean and the food came right out by the time my coworker got there. I'll be glad when they bring the food truck out.. Yum

I ordered off of the menu which they provided me in the store just for them to say that the menu is old. Why are you giving out menus in the store that are old and not honoring the price or options stated on the menu. I was given in the store on the same day.

The wonderful world of turkey. Ha! If you like turkey, you'll absolutely love the Turkey Grill. Who knew one could prepare turkey so many ways: Cajun fried whole turkeys, turkey wings - flats and drums, turkey bites, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, chili, meatballs, gumbo, sausage...it goes on and on. The menu also includes desserts, breakfast items and side dishes such as collards and mac n cheese. I have been there a few times before, but never wrote a review. I decided to do so today because the good food at the Turkey Grill deserves more recognition. I have had the scrumptious turkey bites with that wonderful gold dipping sauce. The dipping sauce is so delicious, I added to my turkey burger today. The burger, by the way was huge. The char-grill preparation added a twist that I had yet to experience with a turkey burger. It added lots of flavor as turkey burgers can be bland. The burger is sold without sides, but there are plenty of options on the menu to make a complete meal. Cost: $8.50 I have also had the smoked turkey pita, which is tasty as well. The lemonade is refreshing. They should sell it in larger sizes. The only thing I've tried on the menu that I didn't care for is the peach cobbler. It was ok, but I've had so much better. I only ate a few bites. The prices are reasonable. They seem to take all popular forms of payment. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. It's mostly take-out, but there is a tiny seating area shared by diners and folks waiting for their orders. Street parking is available on Woodward and a side street. Tip: Call ahead

So this morning after during a 12 hour overnight shift i decided to stop at The Turkey Grilled. It's 8:30 a.m they appeared to be open. I went to open the glass door it's lock, so I knocked and a guy comes to the door say that they don't open til 9. Hmm I can wait I just want a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving. Worst customer service ever.. 9:00 a.m. and this is why I don't do black businesses. i walk in same guy says we not open. I'm like you're f with me? You told me 9. He says naw we ain't open.So when do you open. Woman comes out the back licking her fingers we ain't open we bout to have a power outage. But you don't have a power outage now and I want a frozen turkey...I swear the worst getto service ever.

Do not understand why this place always seems so busy for carryouts. The one time I ordered they said they were out of meatloaf but would sub it with something that was similar to their meatloaf. Well by looking at it.m I didn't know what I was about to eat. But I took the risk. I will say the gravy I was decent but that's about it. Oh yeah and have a 1/2 gallon of your favorite milk on standby if you eat the corn muffins. And I mean one half gallon per muffin. They're that bad and dry. Majority of their business has to be locals that have gone for years cause no new age newcomers would come back a second time unless they were lucky enough to be WOWED that first time but doubt it.

Visited their food truck downtown on my lunch break. It was delicious!! I hadn't had Turkey Grill in years; still amazing food. I ordered the turkey bites. I can't wait to eat them again. Seasoned very well, nice size bites and very meaty. The sauce that came with them was yummy too. It comes with one so I will definitely ask for another sauce next time. It was a nice size portion and filled me right up.

Just spent money on the wing basket that was not the best. It used to come with juicy Turkey, crisp fries..... and great customer service. Sadly, I got none of that today. I tried to call in my order for a half hour and no one answered. I got in there and they stated I could have called in order. When I explained no one was answering I was stared at like deal with it! The fries were chunky and borderline hard in the middle. I'm done with this place. I'll make my own Cajun Turkey.

Getting worse and worser, everytime I come here it's bad, They have to have a new owner. It's down right depressing to order some food from here. Got so depressed last time I was here, I started to kick my own ass. can't go back!!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the food from this restaurant, and would eat it more than once a week if I could. Each visit was as good as the last.

I was very disappointed with the turkey gumbo. do do not get the turkey gumbo. I felt like it was not enough soup, too much rice at bottom. Seem like all the ingredients was shredded to include the vegetables. Now the salad and turkey wings were on point. This was my first time here. So I will know next time.

So, the first time I tried to come here about 3 years ago some customer had a fit and threw her food all over the restaurant. I don't know what sparked it but she was upset. Should have known what this spot was about. I came here today to get some food. I called in and the lady was extremely rude. I then go to the restaurant to get my food and the lady is complete unprofessional. I put my card in and got an error and told her the error message. She gave me attitude again. Transaction went through and she slid my food in the window and walked away no thank you or anything. The sides were good (mac and cheese & yams), turkey was just ok and a little over seasoned. I go out of my way to support black owned business but I will not tolerate this service when I'm patronizing you. And we wonder why black business don't strive. I don't care what you are going through I am a customer not an inconvenience. And when I say customer I mean ex customer. I live across the street and will never go back again.

Why cook a turkey when you can go to the Turkey Grill? I walked in... no wait. EXCELLENT customer service, smiles, friendly faces, people busy cooking home cooked food. Anyway I ordered a Frozen Smoked Turkey and Fried Breast. They were out of breast and I was given a whole fried turkey instead! Thanks!! The owner and entire staff were very nice! Also the cornbread muffins are delicious... like ur grandma use to make... not sweet like Jiffy... good old fashion cornmeal LOL! I will never cook a turkey again! Can't wait to heat up on Thanksgiving!

Turkey is overpriced for sure!!!! The service is decent, but turkey price mark up is unbelievable if you know what turkey wings really cost per pound.

Great food. Ordered the seafood gumbo then returned to get a wing basket. Service was great. The staff was polite. What a great story if you are inside take the time to read about the beginninga of this hiddem gem!

Hands down best place in the city. Am waiting for them to do stuff Turkey legs but besides that the meals are more than enough for two people and it's so good you're not going to be disappointed. If you like turkey and haven't tried this place you're in for a treat that's going to make you smile from ear to ear. Just saying...

First time coming here. Ordered take-out for lunch today. Didn't call ahead of time, took about 15 minutes to get my food from the time I placed my order. Had the smoked turkey leg and seafood gumbo soup. Wasn't expecting much due to these recent low reviews but was pleasantly surprised! Turkey leg was huge, juicy and very tasty! It honestly didn't need the sauce on top. I'll ask for the sauce to be placed on the side next time. The smoked turkey spices were on point and I found the sauce overpowered it a bit when smothered. The turkey seafood gumbo was a delicious surprise. I've been to Howe's Bayou in Ferndale and found the creole offerings including the gumbo, very bland like they couldn't even get the salt and pepper right. In contrast, the seafood gumbo here is very flavourful- the sausage, crab and spices are so well balanced without being too salty or overpowering. My only complaint is the container was only about 75-80% full. The cornbread that came with the gumbo was just okay. I like my cornbread the right amount of sweet and salty, the cornbread here was more on the salty side with barely any sweetness. It went well enough with the gumbo but I've definitely had better. The staff was very pleasant and courteous to all the patrons in the restaurant, everyone was greeted with a smile. I just wish they had proper seating and tables so I can bring my family for a sit-down dinner. Overall I'm very satisfied and will be back soon. Thanks for offering the Detroit area flavorful soul food options that isn't the same old chicken and ribs option like the other eateries in the area.

During a scenic drive home from downtown Detroit me and the husband decided to stop in here to grab a snack. We had not been here in some years...we actually thought they had closed down. This is a small spot on the borderline of Detroit and Highland Park and it has been here for years. They have a pretty full menu from turkey wing bites, whole turkeys to sandwiches and salads. We ordered the turkey bites which are $9 and they come with a zesty sauce which really good, the pieces are quite large and cajun flavored. It's basically a carryout spot but there are a couple of seats to eat in if you desire.

Well seasoned. Good service at a great price. Food was tasty and not over cooked. Whenever I'm in the area it's an absolute must that I stop by.

Cajun fried turkey! I can really end the review right there. Lol. But seriously this is one of the most unique restaurants in Detroit. Food is hot and fresh and packed full of flavor. Delicious! I've been a frequent customer for over 20 years and I have yet to have a bad experience.

Look. I've known about this spot forever but I haven't been in forever. They only use all turkey products and make things fresh daily. I had a turkey burger and fries and it was hands down the BEST turkey burger that I have ever had. It was so juicy and flavorful. It is sis satisfying. I couldn't finish my burger and fries but it tasted great the next day. They have a $1.99 breakfast special each day and daily food specials which are great. If your don't want to cook but want to enjoy a real home cooked meal. This is your place. I can't wait to go back.

I live in Detroit and have never lived in California. On Saturday, May 20, I ordered the "world famous" turkey burger with no cheese and the pickles on the side and fries and the turkey gumbo. The person on the phone said that it would be ready in 15 minutes. I got to the restaurant in 15 minutes. I waited for my food about 7 minutes. I paid and left. When I got home, opened the carryout container and removed the top bun, I found cheese and pickles on my sandwich. The fries were just above room temperature...some were stuck together and to the paper they were in. I tasted the turkey burger and I could not tell if it was turkey or beef. I tasted light spices but nothing memorable. Needless to say, the food was okay. It seemed that the burger and the fries were not freshly cooked. I hope it was not an order that was not picked up by someone else and they just gave it to me. I was disappointed with the burger and fries however the gumbo was delicious. I called to share my concern and the person acted as if he/she did not care. That is not good for business I have ordered the Mexican Pita, turkey bites and the Tomato, Okra and Turkey Sausage and all were delicious.

HORRIBLE‼ I've been a real supportive costumer I have spent plenty of money from walk-ins to door dashes..I'm so disappointed I've been disappointed the last 3/4 times I have ordered but this is ridiculous! from the service I received ordering my $45.00 meal was outrageously horrible getting all the way home to realize they gave me all the wrong sides which blows my mind cause I ordered an additional side $5.30 so why would I want all the same sides in my order called them to inform them at 8:14 the supervisor rudely said "come back up here I'll replace them For yu but we close at 8:20" wow!! like I would ever make it there in time so as of now I'm stuck with undercooked Mac &cheese a hell of a lot of collard greens and over cooked turkey legs. I will never support this establishment again nor will I ever refer a soul to eat there.

Food was good, OVER PRICED and you don't get enough for the cost of the food. It doesn't come with sides or a drink and it was $5 for a small thing of unseasoned, bland Mac and cheese. We spent $32 for two turkey wings and a turkey sandwich. The turkey sandwich was something I could throw together in 2 minutes.. NOT worth $12! But great tasting stuff.

Today I spent 40 dollars in this establishment and asked for an extra carry out plastic bag to separate my order. The manager whoever she was said for the bag they wanted a $1 no joke and needless to say I didn't get a bag. If this how they handle business it becomes hard to support black businesses looks like turkey everything gained my business. Thanks she may need the bag to cover her face

Update to this review. The owner showed great customer service. Accommodations were made because I was unhappy. I appreciate a business that will make sure the customer is happy.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Ordered a good amount of food yesterday for a family of 6.. and we all... I kid you not. We ALL got food poisoning. First and foremost, they got our order wrong. In my order specifically, I asked for lemon pepper. When we checked the order before leaving, it was Cajun season. They took the order back and thought they fixed it, but turns out they just took the Cajun legs and threw some lemon pepper seasoning on top. Second, the turkey was dry! Dry. Mac and cheese was good though. The candied yams were way too sweet and overpowered with cinnamon . The main thing is that my whole family got food poisoning

Yesterday me & my brother in law ordered food online from Turkey Grill. I order a wing basket, my brother in law ordered a wing basket,turkey bites & Turkey meatballs (3) dinner. Normally the basket comes with 2 drums & 2 wings yesterday we both received all wings. I was very disappointed in all of my years supporting this establishment. This was the first time our orders had been unsatisfactory. Please do better!!!

Was told about this place by several customers of mine, so I had to try it! This place was delicious, especially their Mac n cheese and collard greens! Next time I'm in town I will be going back that way, I even have friends that want to go just because I sent them photos of the food!

I've been here twice and both times I really enjoyed it. The Turkey is deliciously seasoned with cajun spices and had an even more delicious dipping sauce (seriously I never knew deep fried turkey could be even better with sauce) I loved the flavor of the turkey it was cooked to perfection; not over done, not chewy, just right with a great spicy kick. My only criticism is the sides were a little disappointing. The first time I had their stuffing with gravy and the collard greens. The stuffing and gravy was very bland and had no seasoning at all while the greens had WAY too much salt, I literally couldn't eat it. But still, I liked the Turkey so much that the second time I just opted for fries as a side and was very happy with it. I've seen the owner talking with his patrons and he's such a nice and very very humble man. I think it shows a lot of character that he takes so much joy in interacting with his customers and providing such wonderful food. I really love to see a black owned business thriving and making a name for themselves in this city where so much division and constraint prosper. Keep up the good work! I would definitely recommend this place, I just say be mindful of the sides. All in all I really do love the fried turkey here, it is unbelievably good I will be retuning soon for dinner.

Lately, this has been a pleasant option to dine at. Take out only is a plus. The Turkey Wing bites are my favorite. They also have decent sides and desserts. I didn't purchase any sides but many desserts were purchased. The banana pudding was decent. The sweet potato pies are better though.

Disclaimer: Come here for the Food and not the service!!!! I am from Detroit but visiting from LA and there is no food like Turkey Grill. I got 3 Turkey Tails Specials last week they were delicious BUT.... they were not fully cooked. WTF! My family had to cook them at home in order to eat them. And the Lemonade was always a miss for me even as a kid. But nonetheless the food was flavorful and tender. And the Greens just melt in ya mouth! Yum! Must eat the greens with the muffin! Turkey Grill please keep the food coming but service is better! My family and I been coming to restaurant for years and the customer service is just sub par. Do better please!

I had the Cornish hen with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. Also had the turkey chili . The food was delivered through DoorDash. While the delivery fee was pretty high. Six dollars to be exact. The food and the sides were very delicious . Great job The Turkey Grill.

I've just run out of benefits of the doubt. If a business can't fill an order properly, it's not a good business. If they do it once, honest mistake. Twice? People have bad days. Today was about the 12th time they've screwed up my order. I don't live nearby, so it's a major issue. I had big order and signs are everywhere to check your order before you leave. It's MY fault for thinking they would improve by now. They forgot my 1/2 dozen cornbread muffins. When I told them they forgot, the promptly filled my order...with regular rolls. They also "substituted" my Mac and cheese with an extra order of greens. I'm done. I'm out. Good luck in the future. I will take my chances getting robbed in another establishment.

The turkey grill old time classic from wing bites to whole turkeys fried or rotisserie cost around 45/50 bucks fully cooked great for the holidays early morning breakfast 1.99 great buy!
