On the Grid : The Turk's Head

"Listed as an old public house, The Turk's Head is a place the locals frequent often. With a good atmosphere inside and a very large open outdoor space which is perfect during spring and summer. Lots of breakfast choices as well as coffee, smoothies, teas and cakes and also a nice selection of beers." - w12 studios

A huge thank you to the management and staff for accommodating our babyshower brunch. The food was excellent, and everything was beautifully prepared by the chefs. The waiters also did a fantastic job, ensuring everyone always had a drink and anything else they needed. The venue is stunning, and the tables were beautifully set up with flowers. I'm so pleased with how the brunch turned out. Thank you all again!

Good food and great outside sitting. Close to a park and very quiet and relaxing. I appreciated the soft ambient music. Pet friendly and charming. The service was ok, but not perfect. They left our table without lights and other decorations once it became dark. We arrived without reservation and we were not able to get everything from the menu. I recommend doing a reservation before going.

Charming cafe/restaurant with friendly staff and a nice vibe. We visited today for some coffee and cake. The pastries tasted a bit stale but the lemon drizzle cake wasn’t half bad. Overall a great spot to visit - it really was quite lovely to sit outdoors in the terrace area and enjoy the sounds of the park. My only suggestion would be that staff need to be more aware of customers waiting to be served in the outdoor seating area. We waited for quite a while and in the end had to go ask someone to come and take our order. Otherwise no other issues.

Went for a belated Birthday lunch with my Dad today. Food, service & atmosphere were outstanding. "A hidden gem" , in my father's words (& he is a very discerning diner). He was absolutely charmed. Thank you.

Our party of four visited this restaurant on a Saturday night. What followed was a series of frustrations that completely undermined the occasion. Despite making a reservation well in advance, we arrived to find the staff completely unaware of our booking. This immediately set a negative tone for the evening. Plus it was a cold dining area . The entire restaurant appeared to be managed by a single, visibly stressed staff member who was clearly struggling to attend to all tables. This resulted, in a tense atmosphere that permeated our dining experience. We were shocked by the meager portion sizes. For the prices charged, the tiny servings were nothing short of disappointing. Our hunger was barely addressed, forcing us to make an unplanned stop at a nearby supermarket after our "meal" just to feel satisfied. When presented with the bill it showed only the total amount due – no itemization of individual dishes. This lack of transparency left us questioning what exactly we had paid for. As this evening was meant to be a joyful family reunion, we chose not to voice our concerns at the time to avoid further souring the occasion. However, the culmination of reservation issues, cold environment, understaffing, insufficient portions, and non-transparent billing practices has ensured we will absolutely not return. What should have been a memorable family gathering became memorable for all the wrong reasons. I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others.

Delightful little cafe with consistently great coffee. Dinner portions on the smaller side (for me). Breakfast reasonably priced and service always good. If it’s cold there are heaters and blankets in the inside area. The outside area is only comfortable in the summer months but it’s wonderful when available - the surrounding park makes it feel far less urban that it is.

Pretty pub garden with a nice atmosphere for catching up - it’s covered and has some heaters, although a couple don’t work. The gentleman who served us kindly offered us blankets instead. The food was ok - I had the mussels, which came with a generous serve of fries. My friends had a chicken liver salad and the salmon gravlax, as they had run out of the salmon main. We finished off with the chocolate fondant, which was incredibly rich and very very sweet. Value was variable - I thought my mussels (£13) and the dessert (£9.50) were great value, but the salads (at £14 and £16 - or £23 as it ended up being) probably less so. Service was very friendly and polite and they all made us feel welcome. At the end of the meal they charged us for the salmon main instead of the salmon salad (a £7 difference), which I didn’t notice at the time. My email to rectify has gone unanswered, so I’d just suggest double-checking the bill at the table, as I should have done!

Great place for breakfast, walked in when they opened and was able to get a table for two without a reservation. Service was quick and the food was good. I had pancakes with fruit and bacon alongside apple juice. I enjoyed a lot. I have also had the full English in the past which was great.

Yelp
Beautiful spot and I've mostly had positive experiences here, but the last time I went they'd forgotten about a 10 person booking I made. Was very annoying to have to find somewhere else for dinner for that big of a group!

Yelp
So excited this cafe reopened in wapping. It's been closed since I moved into the area. I enjoy and am a regular at their sister cafe Cinnamon. Turks Head is a bigger version of Cinnamon which is great as there is plenty of space to sit. I quiet enjoy arm chairs by the candle full fire place. With a open kitchen, it's a great atmosphere. Great coffee and selection of cakes. (Not as great as cinnamon) Its a good selection of gluten free options, such as there popular brownies, and loaves. During the day they have brunch with a number of omelette choices and eggs. There is soup of the day or baguettes for lunch. In the evening drinks and a tapas menu, which I haven't tried yet. My negatives are you can tell the staff are still new and they don't have as great a cake selection as cinnamon. Looking forward to my next dirty chai and trying the tapas

Yelp
It's a shame that this place is no longer a pub. Captain Kidd had his last beer here before being hanged. That said, they serve a respectable breakfast for £5 and the people that run it are rather pleasant.

Yelp
Good sized and well priced portions of standard cafe food, I recommend their fry-ups and bacon sandwiches, although they do a good range of boring healthy food that the yummy mummy crowd seem to go in for. Chirpy staff, surprisingly good coffee, and a leafy outdoor seating area in the park. Sunday papers, sofas and a chilled out atmos in this converted pub. Slightly off the beaten track but very close to Wapping high street/Thames - no drawbacks at all.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and great outside areas for summer. I can definitely recommend the Turks head for grabbing a cup of coffee and as a work space. Unfortunately, the food is not great. The vegetarian breakfast I had was mediocre. My avocado was mouldy. When I asked for a new one, I received another mouldy avocado. The smoothies don't taste fresh either.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast -- fried slice, eggs, beans, and bacon. Couldn't ask for more! Great neighborhood, very friendly service. Recommend making the trek even if staying in Central London, as it's a lovely walk. Can't wait to go back in September!

Yelp
Have tried this place twice. On both occasions disappointed. The first time I ordered the Veggi Breakfast and received an avocado that was mostly brown and had been turned over to disguise. Today I went again and was given spinach that obviously hadn't been washed. Gritty beyond gritty! Ruined my breakfast and put me off eating the rest of the meal. Such a shame that more care is not being taken. I won't visit again.

Yelp
Great atmospheric coffee shop, easy access open kitchen area with very warm and friendly staff.

Yelp
I had the burger and it was amazing. The cheese was the best part. The chips are standard chips. I had a milkshake, and it was good, but very frothy and not thick at all. The outdoor seating is lovely, and the staff was very friendly.
