As a book author! I had a wonderful experience here with my sit and sign. They are a great little hole in the wall. You can find all types of books and cute little stuff for your children. It's definitely a place to explore if you haven't before. Very popular place for bookworms.

Google
The Twig Book Shop is such an adorable bookstore located within San Antonio’s Pearl! They have a great selection of books, including a great children’s section, and a variety of other really cute items (including candles, stickers, pins, and cards). The bookstore is very clean, well-kept, and the staff are helpful & kind!!

Kristel Reid

Google
Cute bookstore in a great location. I was disappointed on the lack of black authors and novels.

Google
I loved visiting this quaint bookstore. The bookshelves loom up around you so you feel tucked in, nice and nestled into a cozy space. They have a few sections that are packed full with books. Some specialty sections that would be worth sorting through. They also have nifty little gift ideas. I grabbed some unique bookmarks for Christmas gifts. I didn’t get a chance to spend too much time here as I was busy awaiting an appointment, but if you’re at the market or in the area I highly recommend you check it out! Staff is also very friendly and welcoming. It’s cozy, but it’s clean

Google
Twig bookstore is so beautiful and would have so much to offer if it wasn’t for their staff member’s horrible attitude towards clients. When I entered the bookstore I approached an older woman with a gray pixie cut who was sitting behind the desk and asked where she would like me to set my drink that way I could abide by their no food or drink policy. With this, she very quickly pointed to a small unnoticeable table with a sign that had been hidden from my view. “Hurray! Imaginary Confetti everywhere! You know how to read!” She said in a very demeaning tone as she clapped. I cannot speak for the other staff members however this specific person is known to have been vile in the past so I can’t just give her the benefit of the doubt. It was far too early in the day for her to be so hateful. You work in a bookstore please read up on emotional intelligence and learn kindness. Even though I love this bookstore if this is consistent staff behavior I won’t be coming back.

Google
After a lovely Fathers Day my daughter wanted to look for a few books. As the adults were waiting and looking at cute puppets (items to purchase in hand) the young lady behind the counter said not handle them or she would call security unless we were planning to buy one. I am a 40 year old service member who could not believe the snide over reaction, and assumption that came out of her mouth. Considering finding one that paired with my pet types she threatened again. Then I said I will not be buying anything, told my daughter that we order her books on Amazon which I did. I spent my money elsewhere. I will not be going back. In my entire life never have I been spoken to like that at a business. NO TACT and disrespectful.

Google
This is a tiny bookstore in The Pearl with reasonable hours. They have a big kid section, lots of knickknacks, cute gift cards, Pearl merch, and a small selection of every category. I like that no one bugs me or follows me around the store. This isn't a fun place to visit during the weekends because you can barely move, but if you can visit during their quiet hours it's really nice to take your time looking at everything. They are always having authors visit so keep an eye out for that. They are excellent at carrying local authors.

Melissa Woods

Google
Small but packed with so many genres of literature! The cookbook section had many to choose from as did the local Texas history section. There was a children’s section as well as some fun popular fiction reads.

Yelp
We love this beautiful indie bookshop. The location is so nice too. We can visit when walking at riverwalk or visiting farmers markets on weekends. They have lots of events often and love they are linked on Libro for audiobooks. I highly recommend visiting when your in the Pearl Market area.

Yelp
My daughters and I loved The Twig Book Shop. It is located at the historic cultural district Pearl situated in the center of San Antonio, TX. We walked over from Hotel Emma on 5.24.2025. The staff members were pleasant and helpful. I picked up a couple of books for my niece's upcoming 5th birthday. I really hope she gravitates towards these books I got her. My girls of summer also picked out some birthday gifts for each other. Because I spent just over $100, they gave me a free tote. According to their website, they got their name inspo from this Alexander Pope quote, "'Tis education forms the common mind; just as the twig is bent the tree's inclined."

Sav K.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Was racially profiled and asked to leave as I was looking at books. I love local book stores, especially nowhere- but I will not be returning to twig. So sad as a local to have experienced this.

Yelp
Quaint little bookstore at "The Pearl". I finally got to visit after walking by it several times while shopping at the outdoor market on weekends. They have a decent selection of books as well as a kids section and unique local gifts! It was so busy when I walked in. Service and ambiance was very welcoming and lively! Prices are average, some of the gifts are a bit higher priced due to them being handmade by local artists. Overall great experience and I'll definitely be visiting again!

Yelp
The Twig Book Shop is a readers dream come true! This amazing bookstore is located next to Bakery Lorraine at The Pearl. They have two entrances, one across from the lawn/water fountain, and another by Cured restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed by all the amazing colors from book covers, as well as some other items that could be great gifts. I always try to find spanish (or bilingual) books for my son to read, which believe it or not can be a very hard thing to find in San Antonio. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a small but mighty selection of spanish books for children. After giving my son a couple options to choose from, he selected two that he loved and made the purchase. Visiting The Twig Book Shop reminded me why buying books in person is so much more special than online. To be able to see them, feel them, and make memories with your family while shopping for books is so much more special.

Yelp
Thank you Twig staff for making my 8 grade CAST Imagine Explore SA! course experience awesome. Students and a wonderful time exploring your inventory and being acquainted with the love of physical books.

Joyce Townsend ..

Yelp
Every time I visit The Twig, I am more impressed! Their selection of books is outstanding and the staff could not be more helpful. Twig is that book store you see in movies and think "how cool" it would be to have a place like that in SA. Well, we do!

Yelp
This little bookstore at The Pearl is super cute and has a surprisingly good selection of books. The pricing is equivalent to any other major bookstore chain and I love the variety of hand puppets they have in the children's area. The staff is nice and helpful. I also love the candles that they sell here too!
google avatar

JaDee W.

Yelp
This little book store is so cute. It was very crowded in there so I'm not sure they're limiting people anymore but you have to wear a mask and you have to use hand sanitizer when you enter. I didn't really get to interact with anyone who works there so I can't comment on the staff but I loved how clean and organized the place was. They had a huge children's section with some cool books I hadn't seen before and lots of little unique nicknacks. Next time I come to the pearl, I'm definitely stopping by here.

Yelp
What a sweet book shop. Visited today during National Independent Bookstore Day. They had several authors today to autograph their books. I loved meeting new authors and having my kids explore new stories. Keeping supporting independent bookshops. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
Great little book shop in the Pearl. Sadly, there are fewer and fewer bookshops around, so we were very happy to stop in and browse this one. Besides books, they have a lot of fun cards, magnets and other things to buy. We spent far too much time in here and came out with some fun cards and a new book. Stop in and support your local book shop!

Yelp
A really nice book store in the heart of the Pearl.. A wide of books, cards, and like items. The service is prompt and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Face masks are required. This quant bookstore located in the heart of the Pearl. Definitely a liberal based bookstore. Funny and cute knickknacks to look at.
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
Rude and lacking customer service Went in for a book and was more fixated on her "mask policy " helping me

Yelp
This small bookstore at the Pearl is well worth a visit. It is small, but it's charming. And the customer service is great. I visited this past weekend when I was exploring the Pearl and left with two interesting books! Check it out!

Yelp
I think it's important to support local, small businesses. Went with the Twig instead of Amazon or B&N. What I took away from my experience with The Twig: -Waited a little longer to get my title. (Not a big deal. I get it. It's a small business.) -Drove to pick it up. (That's cool. It's a small business. I get it.) -Not the friendliest of staff members today.

Yelp
I could peruse this little book shop forever. Variety of items and books. I love the Trinity (University) Press section. Grab a book from here, coffee from Local Coffee House and a pastry from Lorraines. Then find a table.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
I enjoyed this fun book store . Bought a couple of books . They have books for all age groups . It was small so leave your stroller outside .

Yelp
The Twig is a small local bookshop at the Pearl just around the Dr. John cornder from the Jazz TX dungeon basement. It is a small store and about half is toys and other trinkets for the tiny human children or sophisticated manchildren with neetbux to spend. The remaining half of the adult-as-heck portion has a pretty decent history section, a relatively tiny new releases section (David Sedaris' newest so nobody is asleep at that wheel,) and a neat Trinity University Press section as they keep it both real and local; as this is not Houston they fail to keep it trill though if anyone is keeping score on the matter. I rounded up their yelp star rating because none of their staff offered to help me. I am a beautiful misanthrope and an adult so I don't need any help, I got this. They understood. They understood. The store is so limited in size and they lose half of the footprint to toys that are not books so they are not trying to compete with Austin's BookPeople or with PDX's Powells. I would describe this store as (a) bring your six kiddos from six different baby daddies to pick out a toy or (b) grab a light hearted easy reading book on the way to the airport. Option C would not come highly recommended since that got me banned from the Woolworths, though it is still unclear whether it was just the one or the whole chain. The bookish Klaus deep inside me winces, but perhaps this is the future of bookshops in the Amazon and 3-D porn era that the Trump administration has ushered us into. All hail our new toy/book overlords conveniently located at the Pearl near many fine drinkin' establishments so one can drink to forget.

Yelp
This was a nice little bookstore which had a nice variety of reading selections. I did not see any newly released books but did not matter anyway. It was fun to browse around and the store is kept organized fir example there is a section for kids and another for fiction. It is definitely worth checking out.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
Any place that has a book store has got to be pretty good. They have a pretty decent selection, I mainly grab Science Fiction first and then Mysteries and they had those covered pretty good. Also had a few knick knacks and shirts for sale.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Rude staff. Spent twenty minutes in store, but it wasn't until I went to purchase an item for my young child that I was told I had to have a mask. I told her I did not need a mask, as I was fully vaccinated. I left and ordered the same item on Overstock for less money.
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
This is an adorable little bookshop in the Pearl shopping district. It has a great selection of books and was just fun to walk around in. I didn't have a chance to buy anything while I was here but I enjoyed just walking around and looking at everything. I'd love to be able to stop in and grab something next time. The staff was all really friendly and helped answer all the questions I had. I'm glad I stopped by here!
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
Love this store!! I have been several times when I visit the Pearl, and it always puts me in a happy place. So quaint and charming, and the staff is always so helpful. I think it is great that they still have the mask policy to protect the children that can't get vaccinated yet - especially since they offer a children's section. It shows their care for all their customers. This store offers such a lovely experience; stay charming, Twig!!
google avatar

Reilly E.

Yelp
This shop is always busy when I walk in, and their staff are incredibly friendly. I love to come in here after walking around the Pearl just to browse around. I occasionally buy gifts for my niece and nephew and they always love the book I get from Twig. This is a great place to take kids who love to read! They have great suggestions for books for all ages, but the customer service is the best here.
google avatar

Coral D.

Yelp
Small, well-curated book store in the heart of the Pearl District. Perfect amount and variety of knick-knacks, like post-it notes, bookmarks, and writing utensils. Small, vibrant children's section. I also noticed some books that looked somewhat used on discount; a majority of them are new, though. If I lived here, I could see myself stopping here on the weekend and reading with a cup of coffee on one of the two plazas The Twig borders. Well done!

Melody L.

Yelp
The only one star reviews you'll see on this app are people complaining about wearing a mask. Get over it you entitled brats. It's a lovely beautiful place with a great variety of books and a host to many special literary events. Would recommend.

Yelp
I love local businesses. I love book stores. I really love local bookstores but I'm feeling really sour about my trip here today. I brought my visiting parents in to the shop today and my dad found some of his favorite notebooks for sale. Two notebooks, exactly the same, were marked with different prices. One said $15.25 and one said $16.75. I told my dad to mention the discrepancy while at the counter. He instead kept quiet and decided not to fuss about the $1.50. However, when I handed my dad his purchases later, I noticed the receipt. The salesperson rang both items and rather than honoring the better price, simply removed the lower priced tag of one notebook and charged him $16.75 for both. The price point isn't the issue here. It's simply the principal of the matter. The lower price for the same product should have been honored. Rather than honor the price, however, my family was rather sneakily over charged for the items. I can't continue to support this book shop.
google avatar

Tatjana W.

Yelp
I've been ordering online and picking my books up curbside. Staff are masked and bring books out to me! I love the convenience of ordering online. Prices are reasonable/comparable to amazon. Staff are helpful and call with updates on special orders. It feels great combining the ease of online ordering and supporting a local shop.
google avatar

Reby G.

Yelp
This bookshop located perfectly downtown is a quaint, but busy store. As I traveled throughout the area the selections they had varied greatly which I loved, but the priced and busyness of the bookshop turned me off. Ultimately it seems like a HPB version of Barnes n Nobles. Does that make sense? Cool place with neat books but I'll stick with my go-to book stores from now on
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
This is a cute little bookstore located in the Pearl District. We wandered in here on a full stomach after just eating at Cured next door. I loved the variety they had and the prices were ok. They had some cool stuff for kids as well. I could have spent hours in here getting lost and just perusing all the different reading materials. The staff was sure to greet everyone that walked in and willing to answer any questions. This place is cool! If you are in town and visiting like I was I suggest stopping in here and picking up something local to San Antonio!
google avatar

Yelp
I must admit I only started going here for the best storytime ever, but it's now become my place for a book or cute unique gift and a recomendations to others. Here you find all sorts of items: books from local authors, books on local area, handmade cards, kids books, jewlery, artisit signings, pins, magnets, toys and so much more. The staff is helpful and friendly. They will look up books for you and if they don't have it on hand, they offer to order it. Located in the beautiful Pearl area, you can grab a coffee at Local before browsing the books. Or after browsing the books eat lunch at one of the resturants near by. There's also a green space right out in front for kids to run around and play. I've been attening story time for years and in different areas and Miss Anastsia is by far my favorite storyteller: voices, faces, animation. She is enthusiastic and super entertaining! She kindly greets all the littles individually and remembers the names of regulars. She opens storytime with an very fun audience participation song of "if your ready and you know it" then proceeds to read a couple of books followed by a craft activity.

Yelp
Newer and larger location of my favorite local bookstore! Large selection of adult nonfiction, teen, and children's books with additional clearance, seasonal, and stationary sections. Children's section has toys, gift items, puzzles and games, in addition to a solid picture book selection. Love the discount racks and tables, which highlight books I otherwise might not have picked up. Along the shelves are also blurbs detailing staff picks and award-winning titles, nice personal touch.

Jenna S.

Yelp
I used to really enjoy this shop. Unfortunately, an encounter with an incredibly rude, scared worker ensured we will never return. Kicking us out because we don't have a mask in a state where masks aren't mandated is absurd. Plus, if a person is vaccinated it is unnecessary. Due to their ridiculous fears and regulations I'll never return.
google avatar

Blessing B.

Yelp
I've come here a couple of times when I happen to be in the area. I really like that this is an independent owned book store. The book shop is on the small size but they have a good assortment of books, jewelry, toys, writing supplies and other trinkets. I picked up a textured book mark that had an inspirational quote on it. The twig is worth checking out if you happen to be in the Pearl.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Yay for a local bookstore in San Antonio that is charming, easy to get to, offers local artists handcrafts, and is a place where you can genuinely feel comfortable and cozy at as soon as you walk through the front door. I love the attention to the details in The Twig Book Shop. I was so delighted to see small tables and cushioned chairs to sit in near windows and in the nooks and crannies of the bookstore. It added such innocent charm and invited you to just plop down and open a book or three as you are here. Tiny and large handwritten signs popped out at you, especially in the greeting card area, as you waltzed around the store letting you know what local artist(s) have their handcraft goods here and there. It was almost like I was watching a Pop Up Video facts as I browsed! So genius whoever thought of this as it brings exposure to the area customers pass by and attention to the local artistry that cannot and should not be overseen. This is also an independent bookstore too which made me grin from ear to ear when I read that! I could spend HOURS and HOURS here if they let me (and they might...I didn't try my luck out this past weekend when I discovered it). Please support this bookstore and come to the events that they host here. There needs to be more gems like The Twig Book Shop in San Antonio to remind us all that books, writing, art, and local support will never die if we keep investing and supporting our community as a whole.

Yelp
Bought a book from here from one of my favorite local authors Adria Andersen ! I don't have much to say about the shop itself , good location , just a bit too crowded and unorganized which makes it hard to browse effectively.

Whitney L.

Yelp
Visited from out of town and the female working was extremely rude and witnessed her be rude to many other customers too. I love supporting local businesses but I'll never step foot in here again.
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
Sweet, cute shop. A bit pricey, but that's to be expected of any shop at The Pearl. Visited for a book signing and purchased "Servant" by Robin Singh. Highly recommend the book, and the little shop I bought it from.
google avatar

Mary O.

Yelp
Eclectic and quaint. I wish there were more traditional children's books. I didn't find any that I read as a youth. It was disappointing because I was hoping to get a book I enjoyed as a child for my children. The adult selection is more varied.
google avatar

Katlyn P.

Yelp
Although I didn't buy anything because my carry-on suitcase was already busting at the seams, this was the cutest book store I've ever been in. It had a wide variety of books including classics and favorites. But it also had a good-sized collection of unique books about Texas and the south. Next time I'm in the SA area, I'll be stopping back in to shop around!
google avatar

Janelle A.

Yelp
There are few places that I love more than a good, locally owned bookstore. The Pearl is such a lovely area, and having a bookstore right there in proximity to all of the cool bakeries and restaurants is perfect. The owner of the store was so sweet, and the book selection is great. It's wonderfully quirky, and I could definitely spend hours browsing through books and then reading in the park area outside.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
Love going to the Twig Book store in the Pearl area of San Antonio. Often they have authors come and discuss their latest novels.Today they had a display for dia de los Muertos and a book entitled "Why aren't we dead yet". It was about our immune system .
google avatar

Ron M.

Yelp
I just stopped into The Twig Book Shop for a quick visit before heading out to TNT. It looks like a nice neighborhood book store that would help you in any way they could. I saw a good collection of children's books during my short visit, and could see this as a spot to drop into as a regular visitor to The Pearl. Hope this business does well and is part of the complex for a long time to come
google avatar

Aaron V.

Yelp
This is my favorite bookstore in town. It's our only indie book store. The selection is great and the staff picks are always fantastic. I've never left without buying something (as a proud member of the book club).

Rosa R.

Yelp
To the cashier's customer service, I am not sure why I did not receive a smile or even a thank you for shopping at the store. That is all it takes. A SMILE AND A THANK YOU. Hope you have a better week. 1 star and that's only because I had to.

Shauna V.

Yelp
Love this bookstore! We make sure to go every time we are at The Pearl! Their selection is great, and I'm always able to get help whenever I need it. I'm so thankful that they have continued their mask policy and have a hand sanitizer station set up so that my seven month old is protected! We love Twig!
google avatar

Jarvis R.

Yelp
Cool little bookshop in the Pearl complex selling a wide variety of books and little trinkets. There are books for every type of reader and some essential, quirky trinkets such as pins and magnets. The bookshop itself is clean and very organized, and the person working at the counter was welcoming.
google avatar

Lindsay R.

Yelp
The Twig combines two of my favorite things: shopping local and glorious, glorious books. I've gifted my copy of Americanah, and after cajoling my book club into reading it because it's fantastic, I realized I needed a copy of it to reread. After lunch one day at the Pearl, I spent some time perusing the stacks. It's a small store, but the collection is well-curated. For teens (or lovers of teen drama), there's a great YA section. The children's section has great variety of books you won't be embarrassed to give your friends' kids. I'm that person kids always hate at birthday parties because I always give books instead of whatever toy they wanted. Trust me, the book will mean more in the future. My book was right on the front table, demonstrating that they have taste just as good as mine. I saw some others I'd been wanting to read, and some I hadn't seen before. There's small gifts for book lovers. Ask for help, and one of the super helpful book loving employees will hook you up, in a nice, friendly manner. Make sure you sign up for their calendar because they feature a lot of in store events like book readings and signings.
