We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee. They have a nice selection of coffee and tea. We ordered an iced vanilla latte, snickers latte, a zebra mocha and regular mocha. We enjoyed our choices. They also have an assortment of pastries.

My fiance and I love The Ugly Mug! It's a very unique and cozy little spot. You would pass right by it if you weren't looking. (But I hope you're looking) The service is always kind and friendly, the drinks are great, and the small bites are tasty. I really enjoy that there are a good mix of older and younger folks that hang out there. That just tells me that this coffee shop is loved by all generations :)) They also have a convenient drive thru!

This coffee shop has such a cozy, welcoming vibe—it truly feels like a home away from home. The staff are incredibly nice and genuinely polite, always greeting you with a smile and making you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. Their kindness really adds to the whole experience. And the drinks? Absolutely delicious. You can tell they put care into every cup. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee or settling in for a while, it's the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

This is my favorite coffee shop ever. It’s so comfortable. They also make a decaf sugar free almond milk chocolate Frappuccino that is out of this world and very low calories. Amazing! Great book club and staff too 🤓

Such a fun little spot we happened upon today! There were plenty of options on the menu but we went with an iced caramel macchiato and iced clockwork orange through the drive thru. Service was great and very educational! Will definitely return when in the area.

I love this place. It's so eclectic and the frozen coffees are AMAZING. I left my other coffee shop, and I safely call The Ugly Mug my new coffee home. They have tea as well, they make the most delicious frozen coffees, and very tasty pastries and sweets.They also have a wide variety of flavors and combinations, or you can make your own combination. I tried the cinnamon roll combination today and did not like it, too peppery tasting for me. I took them back, explained I didn't like them, and they re-made the drinks for me with no hassle. Staff has always been helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, I love and recommend this place to gourmet coffee lovers, especially the frozen drinks.

This place is SUCH a gem! The coffee was rich and the boba was perfect. My girlfriend said it was way better than her first boba experience, so thanks for that :) The BEC croissant was very delicious, and the spinach and feta croissant was incredibly fresh! I would definitely come back PS. Sorry for the lack of pictures, we drank and ate everything too fast lol

I came for the chai and would go back for the frapps and snacks haha. Wish the chai had more spice in it, but the Capt. Jack was pretty good (even though I'm not a coffee gal lol). But that cherry croissant was the bessssttt

The quiche is really good, so is the cappuccino. The service is pretty quick. They also have cold drinks the frappuccino with three shots of expresso is delicious

Super nice staff. I loved having my coffee in a real glass mug. The space is clean and quiet which was perfect work working. I do wish they had some more food options.

Coming home from Hendersonville, me and my S/O wanted dessert after lunch but nothing big - coffee ! We read online this place offers boba, but currently it's only fruit flavored popping boba. Instead, I ordered one of the cafes speciality drinks - a Clockwork Orange. My chocolatey drink is very sweet, but perfect for a dessert ! My S/O says the taro thick and refreshing. Great little coffee spot!

Had to find a place for work since my hip coworking office decided to take Post Thanksgiving off. Came here because they had a "Print, Copy, Fax" sign on their window that screamed for vagabond office workers like myself. The Ugly Mug gave me a place of warmth and food during my lack of office crisis. The vibe kinda resembles a 1880 Chinese Opium den splitting up the booths with translucent scarlet curtains and paper lanterns radiating a comfort vibe. Each booth has a 6 prong outlet for a whole gamer set up (not that I would even think about doing that for work cough cough). Very friendly staff and over 50 varieties of tea makes this place a one of a kind experience, at least as far as coffee shops go. Ended up spending over $20 here, which is more that I should have spent, their cinnamon rolls were just so good. Lunch is not their greatest strength. They have more sweets and baked goods for food. Had to sustain a sugar rush for lunch while here. This is now on the go to list for working, tea snobbery, and hopefully a D&D group. Still looking for that.

Great coffee and great staff! They do have to compete tho. Like every coffee house in area, how about puttin creme and maybe milk out for coffee drinkers? And maybe a water jug. Pretty much standard fare. Just FYI.

My sisters and I were near Henderson, NC for a girls getaway to celebrate one sister's birthday and met up with a Brother-in-law and nephew here before going hiking. So many choices, very reasonable prices. Awesome atmosphere as there were booths, tables, and even lounge chairs . . Very welcoming. Nephew got a smoothie and we enjoyed hanging around, drinking coffee (or popping in those chocolate-covered coffee beans).

I love this place. I love the fact that they have a drive thru. I love the fact that they have ice cubes made of coffee. I love the great service, yummy products, and long 'open' hours . Just go - you'll love it too!

Yah, pretty solid place. I went there for a group discussion, and it was easily accomplished. It's definitely not the kind of place where the worker comes over and sees if you need anything. Not particularly posh. But as far as you know your general coffee house requirements, it does the trick. If this were a car, it would be a 2010 Toyota Camry, silver.

It's a catchy name, but there's nothing "ugly" about it. This is one of those coffee shops where you walk in and say, "Man, they don't make 'em like this anymore." The Ugly Mug has your coffee and lattes, and those other coffee drinks that are like drinking a candy bar, as well as a selection of pastries. Service is good, but I wish this shop had a little more space. The furnishings make it feel homey, but this coffee shop also sports a drive-thru!

Ugly indeed, for sure the "Mug",sorry for the bad review, it surly was not the service the lady that helped me was in fact really nice but my coffee and the scone I had not so much . Because of the really good reviews I thought I could just stop in Hendersonville for coffee instead of Asheville big mistake. First of all the coffee is not handcrafted at all everything comes out of a machine like in a gas station? Not very warm either no nice foam. Thee scone didn't look appetizing but I was hungry and in a " don't judge the book by the cover" mood but should have , they had three kind they all looked identical and my apple - cinnamon was tasteless and pretty stale. Now to the " Mug" aka the to go cup , styrofoam???? I mean for real guys? This stuff NEVER gets out of a landfill , makes me mad ! So you make a few cent more and ruin the environment?Also why no raw sugar in a jar? It's so easy. I m not going to come back there are plenty of places downtown that do a better job.

The Ugly Mug was fantastic. We went there twice while we were in town. The drive thru made it safe and easy during these Covid times and the staff was friendly. The Cafe Cooler with coffee ice cubes was great on a hot summer day. We also tried the Crunchy Toffee Frappe that was probably the best frappe I have had. Do yourself a favorite and give them a try. YUM!

Husband and I went in on a Saturday morning to grab coffee and get some work done. Free wifi, super cozy environment, and delicious coffee. I got the Allman Bro's latte and he got an Americano and both were awesome. Friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere to sit, sip, chat, read, or work. We also thought it was very cool that they have a drive through window. We'll definitely be back!

Good food and warm people. My husband and I went for week date and was quite pleasant.

Came in 15mins after closing...oops only to be greeted by grandma and granddaughter still offered to fulfill our latte cravings..and couldn't help pick up a pecan bar and raspberry scone. Nice to see family values taught within a small business as Ava handled the financial transaction. Treat your customers right and they'll be customers for life. We'll be back!

This is my first visit here and it will probably be my last. There was a Costa Rican coffee here but it wasn't fresh. There is a teenager here rambling on about her boyfriend like anybody cares in a loud voice. The chairs are comfortable.

I was there on vacation from Seattle the coffee Capitol. There nothing like a great personality making your coffee in morning. Lydia has that, Very up beat and very knowledgeable of ugly mugs coffee.

The Ugly Mug has been a good coffee shop and has a strong local patronage, but as often happens, the baristas seem to miss mark. It used to be, with the previous staff, one could order any drink on the menu and it would be served precisely as ordered. The last few times we've visited the drinks weren't made to order. One example: I ordered a cappuccino and was served a latte with too much milk. Another example: the order was a bulldog (espresso, caramel and froth). Again there was too much milk and little caramel flavor. The cool thing about the bulldog was they used real caramel; not artificial caramel flavoring or sauce. And, a third example is the drinks were served in styrofoam to go cups with plastic lids. We had asked for our drinks in mugs as we wanted to sit and enjoy them. Plus, in previous years they had music (coffee house genre) playing or a live local musician. That's gone. It's sad to see the decline of old favorite. I may try again, but there are more options very close.

I've only been here one time the experience was a little different. coffee was good just some confusion with what we was ordering not sure if it was me or the staff but we got it straightened out quickly. So at the end it was a very Nice place to sit and drink coffee had a very comfortable sofa to sit on. I will definitely give them another try. They do have sandwiches cookies and maybe some other stuff not really sure.

I grew up in Hendersonville and used to go to the Ugly Mug regularly after school to do homework and socialize with friends. Over a decade later, I never visit home without a trip to the Ugly Mug, often several trips. The coffee is top notch (and I drink a lot of coffee); I currently live in NYC and honestly prefer the coffee at Ugly Mug to anywhere I've found in the Big Apple. The owners are extremely friendly and kind, and encourage customers to bring in laptops and make themselves at home while enjoying their coffee. Definitely one of the best coffee shops in western NC!

Great coffee, service, and selection! What more is there to want? I've lived in the area for 2 years now and I must say, this is my new go-to coffee place. It's cheaper than Starbucks, more yummy, and wow- the pastries. All fresh and home made. This place is GREAT! Definitely stop by at least one time if you're in the area- I guarantee you'll fall in love.

The ugly mug is awesome. The owner and the people who work there are very nice and the coffee is good. I especially appreciate the huge selection of bulk teas and coffees. Way more than I am used to seeing in a small town coffee shop. Great job! Well worth the visit.

The Ugly Mug makes the best latte in town! I love that they have a drive thru and the staff is usually very friendly and will go out of their way to make your drink exactly the way you like it. I have brought out of town guests here and they have never been disappointed. :) update: lately it hasn't been quite as good, but it's still better than other places in town

I love this shop. Not only do they make the best flavored coffee drinks in town, but they also carry the best selection of teas in the area. The shop is always spiffy clean, and I am one to notice the dust. The eclectic space, spurs creativity and thought, just as a good coffee shop should!

Free internet, electrical outlets at every table, and afghans on the stuffy old chairs.... this place has pretty much all I need. It can get a little talky from time-to-time, and the Fox news on the television is a bit of a distraction, but all that's outweighed by the benefits previously mentioned. I do wish they had a better selection of food--right now they've got an unexciting and small choice of muffins and scones. Ok, they're now carrying Joey's Bagels, probably the best thing that's happened to H'ville since Cherokee people came.

The coffee was good, the seating comfy and cozy, however the young guy at the counter let me stand in front of him to wait to place a second coffee order while he continued on talking, apparently not concerned about me at all, to a man behind me about something social and not relevant to restaurant business. Also, there was Christian music playing and all sorts of religious stuff up on bathroom walls, which seems kind of offputting in a place that doesn't specifically market itself as a Christian coffeehouse.

We eat at Monte's next door at least twice a week and the Ugly Mug is the ONLY way to finish up our lunch break. McKenzie is just about the sweetest girl around and she is probably 92% of the reason we end up there. OK, maybe 100% of the reason! Great coffee, well-worn couches......I recommend the Grasshopper, it don't get no better!

This place is a great little shop with several different blends to try. Couches and recliners to do work in comfort. The Appalachian blend is the best in my opinion.

Driving through from out of state. Stopped in for coffee and found a most excellent coffee shop. Great coffee, excellent atmosphere. Very cozy and inviting. Way, way better than Starbucks.
