The Ukai Taipei

We had the afternoon tea experience here for my friend’s birthday. It was such a unique afternoon tea experience. I would say it was totally worth it. The treats were presented in little square boxes and were all very different but delightful. It was a bit of a rainy day so the views outside were not clear but still gorgeous. The restaurant is on the 46th floor and has really lovely decor. Everything was elegant. The servers were great and always helpful!

We came here for afternoon tea at Ukai Bar, and the experience was exquisite. Will definitely return for lunch or dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant. The service is top notch, our server is very attentive and helpful. The afternoon tea set comes with lobster roll, sweets, kombucha and tea or coffee. The price is very reasonable.

Come for the ambiance, not for the food. The food was forgettable, except for the dish with the white truffle, and it's not because of the white truffle. I just don't remember the name of the vegetable. That dish was really unique and interesting. The food preparation on the teppanyaki was lackluster. The chef barely spoke and few courses were actually prepared on the teppanyaki. The chef just quietly cooked in the background, which made me wonder what was even the point of having the food cooked in front of us. The views and decor are impressive. I visited in the winter so it was already dark by the time I was seated, but I imagine the views would be 10x better in the summer around sunset.

Really enjoyed the spring menu - limited time only features that were particularly notable: white asparagus, bamboo, and the dessert selection: Sakura tofu, creme puffs, and french toast. Many of the ingredients used are Ukai-exckusive that are well curated. Great wine, sake, cocktail and beverage selection, pairings available too. We had the pleasuring of having Chef Liu (阿嬌) service us tonight, great conversations which made the dinner even more memorable.

Perfect dining experience here. The way Ukai cooked and served their meals is absolutely fantastic. Not only maximize the original charm of fine ingredients, but also add huge creativity within every course. The service is certainly thoughtfully with knowledgeable staffs. Strongly recommend their sake pairing. Totally outstanding. The only flaw is the dining tempo was very slightly quicker than I expected. A bit slower between meals will be even more perfect.

Such a BEAUTIFUL Restaurant! I brought my family to UKAI Kappou (Japanese cuisine) to celebrate. Great food and friendly service! Must consider one of the Taipei bucket list restaurants to visit! My family and I truly enjoyed the whole experience! Just AMAZING!

We went there for the lunch dinning experience and were absolutly amazed. the atmosphere and the view which were both incredibly stunning. The quality of the food was something to behold everything was exquisite. But for me the highlight was the service. Our chef くばるしーさん who prepared each dish with incredible detail and skill did not only make sure that the food was mothwatering but also actively engaged in converaation with us and gave us a lot of details about each ingredient and dish which added an aditional layer to our enjoyment of the food. The other staff also did an incredible job making sure that we were comfortable and explained every option available to us. If ever you find yourself in taipei this is a must visit.

This a review for Ukai restaurant side not the Teppanyaki side. Overall the service and ambiance were excellent. There were some opening bumps here and there but felt the staff did a very good job. Where the restaurant falters is in the food. I must say Taipei is super competitive when it comes to Japanese cuisine. For NT$5000 I expected a lot more. There are at least a half dozen restaurant set menus at half this price with better and more food. Again, this is a place a out ambiance and service. Take an important date or business partner to impress them...but not to really enjoy the food.

5年前來吃過Ukai的鐵板燒大為驚艷，這次終於有機會來嘗試他們家的割烹，表現依然可圈可點，美食，美景，卓越的服務。最喜歡的一道是開胃菜的烤鰻魚，有機會千萬別錯過了！ Fantastic dining experience. Everything is top notch here - from the food quality, taste, presentation, arrangement, ambiance, to service. Well worth the Michelin guide reco. Highly recommended!

DO NOT GO HERE - if I could give negative stars, I would. My family and I made a reservation for 8 here to celebrate my birthday. Given the occasion and that it was a high-end Michelin star restaurant, I wore an expensive pair of designer sandals. Not only was I DENIED entry because their dress code prohibits "女仕穿拖鞋," but also told to go downstairs to the department store to buy suitable shoes for the restaurant. The meaning of "拖鞋" which is slipper or flip flops, we were under the impression referred to everyday wear beach flip flops, not designer brand sandals. Given the absurdity of request, we asked for the manager to appear, to which she (her name is Jennifer) concurred with her receptionist and told us that we were unable to dine because "拖鞋" meant that our sandals needed to have a heel strap. There was no specification about this in the reservation email. At this moment, my sister pointed out that her shoes (also expensive designer sandals) did not meet the requirement either and no one stopped her from entering. At this point, the manager realized that their dress code was vague and had loopholes, to which she exclaimed that although this is their policy, they will reluctantly allow us to dine at their restaurant, without an apology for how their policy was unclear. Not only did they ruin a birthday dinner, they didn't take responsibility for their own unclear dress code policy. For a restaurant where you pay at least $5000NTD a head, I really expected more from their customer service and management. Severely disappointed. TLDR: Extremely poor management and customer service drove away a table of 8.
