"The Underground is many things at once: It’s a club, it’s a dive bar, and it’s a place to play ping-pong and air hockey. Depending on the night, the DJs may be spinning old school hip hop or dancehall. Grab another cheap domestic beer before strolling down Commercial Street to the next bar. (Still hungry? Swing by the brand new Tanuki on the way for onigiri and mochi ice cream.)" - Terrence Doyle

Google
What a great place to be. Came down with a few of our friends on our bikes this weekend. Met the owner of the bar Carol, who was very personable and down to earth as well as the bartenders. Very cool place to hang out.

Shannon Galasso

Google
It was a slow night for the bar, but the live band and drinks were awesome!

Google
Should be called the “Underage”. Seriously though. They should definitely check that better. Saw some kids there who couldn’t have been any older than 18-19 at this place while in the corner you got the 50-60 somethings playing pool. So interesting mix of crowd. Two of the couples from the young group walked in to the single stall bathrooms together for a good five minutes or so. So be careful what you touch in the bathrooms I guess. This place kinda gives me college bar vibes mixed with Euphoria from HBO and a dive bar that old timers hang out at. Drinks kinda pricey, but it’s a vacation town so I get it. around $6-7 even for light beers let alone shots which are like $14 bucks. Place also has pool, air hockey, ping pong and a dance floor.

Google
Nice stop post Parade (4-5:30pm) for some dancing, ping pong, and a few beers. Good vibe and crowd was enjoying themselves. No cover, 100% ID check, cash bar, ATM on site.

Google
Don’t bother trying to come here if you have any type of disability or need accommodation. They wouldn’t let me in with a service animal in even tho he has paperwork and is registered which is literally illegal but I didn’t have the energy to argue so I just left

Google
Andi and Jesse are the absolute BEST bartenders ever! I went to ptown with my bf for his birthday and the underground was the best experience, super nice bartenders, reasonably priced drinks and those gummy bears.. SUCH A GOOD EXPERIENCE! playing air hockey and drinking all night was amazing

Alexis

Google
Bartender had a chip on her shoulder the second we walked in. Seriously so rude for no reason. Dont come here with your girls. Overpriced drinks too. Lame!!

Michelle DeLash

Google
Incredible bartenders, Great Music, Dancing, pool tables, ping-pong, no cover

Michael M.

Yelp
Love the Underground Bar, go everytime in Ptown !! Fun place with great people. They have pool table, air hockey, ping pong table and DJ around 10pm. Place gets packed later but always a great crowd and great time and the bartenders are always great!! Went this Saturday, all my friends who had never been loved it and we will definitely be back next time in Ptown

Leigh M.

Yelp
Bartender over charged us severely. Do not recommend. And when confronted the next day she gave us attitude.

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
Truly a horrifyingly racist experience here when interacting with the female bartender working on 8/7/2022. The bartender was extremely rude to the group I was with, most of which are people of color, and kept reminding us to tip her (which of course we were intending to do) and wanted us to pay her upfront before we even got our drinks. Never have I witnessed such blatantly racist behavior; she refused to acknowledge our presence all while she tended politely to the white women at the bar. She also said nasty things very loudly to the white women about our group, saying that she was intending on giving us shots of water instead of liquor. Once I mentioned to her that it was an inappropriate thing to say within ear-shot of our group, she immediately got defensive and kicked us out. It's this type of discrimination that just serves as a reminder that PTown is only meant for a certain type of person and that we have a long way to go because people like this bartender.

Marni M.

Yelp
Came here with a friend after walking up and down commercial street to find a bar. We got there around 10:30 PM in which the bartender told us that it gets busier around 11 PM. We grabbed a couple of drinks and a few shots for typical bar prices. Music was danceable and I liked how they was a ping-pong table, pool tables and an air hockey table available for use. Overall good experience and would come again.

Tim D.

Yelp
Whoever had a negative experience here is likely a jerk. Alyssa and Michelle are outstanding bartenders, and the drinks are reasonable. It is a great dive bar if that is your thing, with pool tables, a ping pong table and Pabst tall boys. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Kenneth W.

Yelp
Not my normal bar to go too but was in town and wanted to try something different. The bartenders were so friendly, helpful, considerate and cared about each guest. Normally they are all about making you drunk (well it is a bar) but they do get you drinks but watch out for everyone. Yes the bar is cash only but the prices were reasonable and will defiantly go back when I'm in town next.

Bill M.

Yelp
The service consists of 2 bartenders or bar backs nothing more than a can or bottle to choose from. They got rid of the mixologist they had when offering a dozen plus mixed cocktails....place has gone downhill

Brenda F.

Yelp
This is my spot. I have so much fun here dancing, flirting with staff, harassing my enemies, and making out with random men. I always have the time of my life! No one will ever get me down at the underground. When I die, bury me underneath the smoking section.

katie d.

Yelp
The DJ was good, but the place is a dump. Very low ceiling in a basement and gets overwhelmingly hot and stuffy by 11pm. Seems like a place that if a fire ever broke out would be a disaster trying to get out. The bouncers were rude, overly aggressive and won't let you step out to get fresh air which is rough. I wouldn't go again.

Patrick B.

Yelp
If you want to be treated like crap (read into it) and over pay for drinks while watching the locals get theirs, then is the place for you... unbelievable - This is home town bar (which is fine) but if you're not a regular they take advantage. BTW: don't leave you drink either, they'll take that too. If you're. avoid at all cost.

Veronica W.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE bar in Provincetown whomever has had a problem here is likely a Karen. I couldn't help but read that Katie D stated that there are no fire exits? There are literally 2 exits right in front weirdo.. The bartenders are amazing & can make you absolutely anything no cheap "shot" list that are always comprised of all juice & no liquor the DJ's are amazing & it's a welcoming environment to all. If you're in Ptown stop by for dancing & fun. They have pool tables, air hockey & ping pong so so fun!!

Janvi N.

Yelp
I was just in P-town with friends for the weekend. We stopped by The Underground while the sun was still out and got chatting with the bartender, Jenna. One of us got sick because of some bad seafood we had earlier in the day and Jenna put together a care package for her: towels, plastic bags and a bottle of water. She really went above and beyond, and she definitely didn't have to. Also, the jello shots were surprisingly good.

Kristie L.

Yelp
Average bar in ptown. We were there at 8pm and there were 2 other people in the bar at that time. Bartender was friendly. Played ping pong for free and ate some free popcorn. Maybe 8pm is too early to go but I'm 48 so my days of not going out until 10pm are well over. Drinks are pricey but they are everywhere in ptown. We ordered 6 shots and one beer and it came to $100. which I think is a bit over the top. Ping pong was fun though

Jessica M.

Yelp
Music is great but if you want a safe place, the security guys do not take care of you there. Instead they feel it's okay to grab women aggressively instead of saying what they need to say. First time there, and last. Guy in the bucket hat- you know who you are.

Gerald N.

Yelp
Awesomely fun place that has no cover! It's a pretty big bar type environment which seemed divided into thirds. One third there were pool tables and air hockey. The next third there's the bar with stools and standing room. And the last third was a space for dancing. The DJ was pretty good on a Saturday night with mixes of new and old songs. The crowd was mostly 20-30s. There were 2 bachlorette parties and members of the LGBT community mostly which was a good change. I highly recommend this place (closes at 1am) for a fun night out in Provincetown if you are looking to dance, play games, or just drink.

Bernadette Y.

Yelp
Walking through the area and came across this bar. Wasn't sure what it would be like from the outside, but was nicely surprised when we walked in. Pool tables, ping pong, and popcorn, what more could a person ask for? Hmm, I guess alcohol. There's that, too! Michelle (I apologize if I'm not spelling that correctly) was the bartender that day, and she was great. She was attentive, and when asked, gave great suggestions to local spots to visit. I'm not a bar person, but, I loved this one. Great bartender, and laid-back atmosphere, that's why I'm giving this place 5 stars.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Cool cozy vibe. Two poll 1 ping pong table and air hockey table and striper pile on dance floor. Bartender was nice, quick friendly service for off season. Quiet but fun

Sue K.

Yelp
Don't waste your time! 10 of us were in P-town for a bachelorette party & came here for drinks. One of the bartenders who had a major attitude problem to begin with. Ended up coming around the bar & chasing one of my friends outside saying she's gonna kick her ass. She proceeded to push everyone in her path then push my friend down on the outside stairs straddling her with her arm back ready to throw a punch I grabbed her arm & said stop she's pregnant. The bartenders response was "I really don't care" she was an absolute monster of a person and any place that employs that kind of person will never get a penny from me. It was disgusting, distasteful & absolutely uncalled for.

Mike G.

Yelp
Terrible bar. Staff is not good. Music is ok but the front staff really does not do a good job and follow policies

SE S.

Yelp
Bartenders on point systematically attending to people, drinks were good and fairly average priced if you're going to go to a bar to dance. Dance floor was fun, stripper pole says "use at your own risk" lol. I like that the games are free. Music was on point classic 2000s hits for the current 25-35 yo crowd. Good time all around!

Mike B.

Yelp
Extreme disappointed, there was a large group of us that arrived at 4pm. We waited until 425 and no signs of it opening. This was Saturday evening and several others arrived and left too. Owners watch your employees

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Went to this bar off season on a very slow night Sept 11th. My friend and I were celebrating and throwing money around like it was paper. We had several rounds prior and were tipping heavily (I used to be a bartender) We met a friendly couple from Ireland and offered to buy a round. I put $60 on the bar and said we would like a round. A total of 3 drinks were ordered (2) shots and one beer so tops $24?? A good song came on and we went to dance. When we came back, there was no change on the bar. I asked the bartender where my change was and she very nastily handed back a $20. So I proceeded to question her and said how much was the round and where was the rest of my change. When I demanded my change back so I could decide how much I wanted to tip, she became IRATE and started screaming GET OUT...GET OUT....YOU ARE STEALING MY MONEY!!!! Umm, no, you are stealing MY money. The manager or no one else tried to sort anything out and we just left. The bartender was the MOST unprofessional bar employee I think I have ever encountered and that is saying a lot! SUE K...I think we must of had the same bar wench!

Johanna P.

Yelp
Good bar with decently priced drinks. Bartenders are really nice as well. Had a great experience the first time. The problem was with a security guard who was incredibly cold and disrespectful. I used the bathroom with my girlfriend (we made some new friends and were in and out in minutes to return to our little circle). My mistake, I missed the sign that said one person in the bathroom at a time. We walked out and the security guard was waiting to kick us out. I understand that there are rules that were unintentionally broken - but there was no need for the disrespect and harshness. We had just ordered drinks that we weren't allowed to finish and security was treating us like we were incapacitated. When in reality, it was early in the night and an honest mistake was made. It's a shame that we traveled to ptown to enjoy our time with new friends and it was cut short.

Barbara K.

Yelp
This is a great spot in PTown with live music, pool tables, and some quick bartenders! It's a lively vibe and my friends and I always have a great time here! The crowd is a mixed bag, but I always find myself chatting with someone new! This is a must stop for a night out in PTown.

Monica O.

Yelp
the bouncer was incredibly rude! he tried to take a bunch of Massachusetts real IDs and claimed they were fake. we had to yell and demand our drivers licenses back and then they banned us from the place. one girl in front of me even had to call the police before they would give hers back.

Laura J.

Yelp
So. Much. Fun. Went here on a bachelorette. 7 ladies in the late 20s danced their butts off to awesome music! Get here around 9/9:30 and the dancing starts at some point. Closes at 1! Great bartenders too - Dey da best.

Maria C.

Yelp
With the exception of everyone not knowing my name... this bar is the "Cheers" bar of Ptown! Michelle was our bartender tonight, she's very attentive and super friendly! The bar had a pool table, air hockey , ping pong and a couple of TV's. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. They have a nice dance floor area and a DJ. The drinks are reasonably priced. I would of given it 5 stars but being that the bar is under ground (no pun intended) it does have that basement stinch to it. After a few drinks, who cares!! Lol a must go to if your in town.

Ariel G.

Yelp
I really like this place. The people that work there are really nice. Great drinks, atmosphere & lots of entertainment (pool table, air hockey and tons of tv's!!!). check it out!

Corydon S.

Yelp
We stopped in here because it did not looked crowded. And when we came down the nondescript stairs and walked in I was pleased to see that bar was well decorated, clean, and air conditioned. My partner in crime had a hard cider that the bar tender recommended and which was very good by her account and I stuck with water because I was driving us home. We also played a round of pool (free before 6pm), which was fun but it took a while for us to finnish our game since we both stink at pool. I won by a small margin and with that we headed home. I will happily come back here next time we are in P-Town.

Daniel V.

Yelp
was a cool place to hang until i left my card over night one time. i retrieved it the following day and asked if i was charged a tip (for the one beer on the tab). the bartender informed me i was not, so i bought a beer and tipped $10 (200% tip) for the inconvenience. Turns out, the bar did charge a tip on the initial transaction, too (noticed once final transaction posted a few days later).

Styx S.

Yelp
Great place to sit back and relax. I like it, because I like friendly bartenders and a cozy atmosphere. Didn't seem like the kind of place to party the night away...but pool, ping pong and a fun jukebox is enough to make me happy.

K E.

Yelp
We had a great time here. Went two straight nights in a row. Atmosphere is relaxed and just straight up fun. No pretense, no attitude, just people looking to dance be have a good time and we did.

Pidge O.

Yelp
Great beers and friendly staff. We came in the off season and it wasn't super crazy but still a good amount of people. Played a few rounds of pool and had a great time. Juke box has a great selection. New favorite bar.

Leah F.

Yelp
Great game set up. Free pool, ping pong and air hockey. Cheap beer/shot specials and a great sound system. Love the lounge chairs and couches as well. Location of the ping pong table is a little weird, it's right in the middle of the place. Windows don't let in natural light; but hey, that's what we signed up for right?

Melissa P.

Yelp
no cover, Cheap beer. Free popcorn. Amazing juke box. Ping pong, pool, air hockey. Friendly people. Okay, so theres no view, but the is the most fun bar in town! Can't wait to return!

Becca S.

Yelp
Love this bar! We were in town for a bachelorette and loved the dance scene - great djs, pool tables, air hockey and more. And the best part is the coolest ladies working behind the bar!

Sam A.

Yelp
It was good. Nothing crazy to rave about. It's your typical dive bar. Though they had $3 beers which in this area is super cheap. So there's that!

LeAnna G.

Yelp
This bar is the best! The bartenders make you feel SO welcome. My friend and I had two nights in Provincetown and we chose to spend both of them there, dancing and just soaking up the cheerful and fun atmosphere. This is a place you must go!

Kate B.

Yelp
We loved this bar. We stumbled upon it on nye and had an amazing time. Chill vibes, friendly staff, and an eclectic mix of people inside.

Alex M.

Yelp
Spent 4th of July here last year and it was a amazing spot to party. The pool table is great!! Drinks are great!

Jd F.

Yelp
NOT WORTH YOUR SAFETY! My fiance and I were there for about 3 hours tonight. We were dancing about 5 feet away from the chair with our coats and her purse underneath and saw a lady in her mid 50's digging in her purse. When my fiance said "excuse me that's mine" the lady open handed slapped her across the face. I called security over who asked her to leave and within a minute she was allowed back inside by the female bartender who then pushed us aside. It was very hard to see my fiance get hit in the face and then me not act on it expecting the staff to act appropriately. The staff very poorly took care of the situation and other locals outside the bar referred to that lady as always being rude to guests. This bar does not have your safety or best interest as a customer in mind and I highly recommend visiting one of the many other bars that were more than accommodating in the area.

Jenn D.

Yelp
The entire staff should be fired. Went last night with a few friends. It was early, around 6. So it was very quiet when we got there. Let me tell you, the bartenders were the rudest human beings I've ever come across in my entire life. They are confrontational bullies, and the female bouncer had an issue with every single thing wedid. It's almost like they were busting our balls on purpose. Someone in our party asked for a glass of water, and the bartender so SO RUDE to her. When I went to the bar, I sat down on a stool that was there, the bartender yelled at me and said I couldn't be in that area because it was for bussing." I responded "then why is there two stools here other than to sit on them." She had no response, because I was 100% correct. Owners, you truly should fire the two bartenders on last night, along with the passive aggressive bouncer you employ. Blown away by these beastly women that treat their customers so horribly. It was unbelievable. Never ever will step foot in that place again. Nor should you.

Rob J.

Yelp
I've been to this bar several times and normally had an good time. My big draw is the Oargy (A long oar with shot glasses attached for group shots) which I had partaken in with 6 of my friends earlier in the week. I went with a different group of friends a couple days later because they had never been and never tried it so we were really pumped for it. We walked in and the bar was empty sans for two people and a bartender that hardly ever looked up from her phone. When we asked for the shot oar, she said we needed to have 8 people for it and we only had 6. Despite the fact that I had done it earlier in the week with 7 people, she just keep repeating "Those are the rules" and told us to try going out to the street to grab 2 random people to come in and do it with us. When that failed, we offered to just pay for 8 shots and would do 6 on the oar and she just sat on the stool, shaking her head while still on her phone, repeating that those are the rules. So we had a beer hoping other people would come in and we could have them join us but that didn't happen so rather than just take the business we were trying to give them, the bartender seemed like she couldn't care less when we decided to throw in the towel and leave. The fact that we never got to do the oar and the bartender's overall bad attitude kind of took some of the excitement out of the day as we were planning on staying there for a while. So when I come back in the fall, I'll probably just skip this bar.

Ted H.

Yelp
Would not recommend this place. When trying to pay my bill tonight I got physically threatened by a local after he called my girlfriend a c*nt and proceeded to be aggressive towards the two of us. Instead of assisting the bar tender asked where we were from, to which we responded Boston. She said "oh that explains it" and then had the bouncer throw us out. Essentially? When just trying to pay my tab I got threatened, my girlfriend got yelled at, and the staff sanctioned the entire thing before throwing me out. Do not go here.

Federico V.

Yelp
Drinks were awsome had a blast our night turned out great special since it was our first time here at the cape

Milton N.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting this somewhat-hidden place near the heart of Provincetown, MA. The place is a bit hard to miss since it's located at the bottom of a staircase in a narrow alleyway. The bar is decent-sized with two pool tables, one ping pong table, one air hockey machine and a sizable dance floor with additional seating area. The majority of people here were friendly and relaxed. I sat by the bar with my friend as we watched highlights from the US Open on the TV monitors with ESPN. The bartenders were jolly and helpful in giving advice on things to do around Provincetown. We were lucky to visit on a night where the DJ spun a good mix of hip-hop and chart topping remixes, but one of the regulars mentioned that most nights are similar in music selection. The beer selection was decent (although not that expansive) and the ambience was chill; nothing too crazy or dull - just the right amount of action. I went on a Friday night, so I'm not sure about the atmosphere on Saturdays, but I would recommend coming back to this particular spot for a few games of ping-pong and a favorable music selection.

Alexis J.

Yelp
I would never recommend this bar to visitors from out of state. I was dancing with my fiancé at this bar on a Saturday night in November. We had our jackets and my purse on a stool nearby when some 50 year old single woman came up and tried to steal my purse. I grabbed it right away and said, "Excuse me that's my purse." And proceeded to grab it out of the woman's hands and she slapped me across the face. I immediately went up to the staff to explain the situation and instead of taking my side... They let the local back into the bar.
