A wonderful breakfast experience! The avocado eggs were delicious, and both the tea and coffee were perfectly brewed. The dessert was the cherry on top—absolutely memorable. Everything was fresh and carefully prepared. I’ll definitely be back! ☕🍳🍰

I walked past this cafe and I saw how buzzing it was from outside so I decided to join the queue for a few minutes and it was well worth it! I quite enjoyed the grungy/trendy atmosphere and the casualness of the waiting staff, this really set the tone. It was very busy inside but I didn’t have to wait too long for my brunch. Everything is fresh and handmade, my salmon and avocado rye bread tartine with poached eggs was divine, so was my coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. I would happily go back there.

Danish Dining Experience: A Mixed Review The flavors are quite mild, Danish-style, but the salty items are extremely salty. After you order, they'll ask if you want water. If you say yes, they charge 25 krone per person, though they don't tell you the price upfront. They just fill a glass bottle with tap water. The upside is they refill it unlimited times. Interestingly, there's an overpriced Thai-owned Italian restaurant at M Quartier in Thailand that has copied this practice. The coffee is good, but before you've even finished, the waitstaff will quickly clear your cup. They'll also rush to clear your plates before you're done eating and constantly ask if you want to order anything else, as if to say, "If you're not ordering more, please pay and leave." In summary, you're probably better off finding a bakery shop that sells delicious sandwiches and pastries which are plenty in Copenhagen.

It is super super crowded but the brunch is fantastic. The coffee, the avocado toast and the granola was delicious. Pay attention that the queue is pretty long.

Excellent! One of the few places we went where you can have both tasty and healthy food and very good hot drinks! We enjoyed salmon, rosti potato, bread and a delicious yogurt! Pouched eggs perfectly cooked! The atmosphere is cool and the service fast and kind! So I absolutely recommend this place!

Last night at The Union Kitchen in Copenhagen, felt like catching up with old friends over small plates. The interior feels both cosy and quietly elegant, with warm lighting and tasteful décor that never feels over the top. Our server suggested about three dishes per person, and that turned out to be spot-on. • Pesto Pasta: al dente ribbons of tagliatelle in a fresh, garlicky green sauce. • Burrata with Peas: creamy cheese with sweet peas and a drizzle of olive oil. • Garlic Bread: warm, pillowy slices lathered in butter and herbs. • Arancini: two golden rice balls, crunchy outside, oozy cheese inside. • Thai-Style Pork Meatballs (3 pieces): lightly spiced, tangy sauce, perfect balance of sweet and heat. • Classic Beef Meatballs (3 pieces): rich meat, simple tomato base, a sprinkle of ricotta. • Sweet Potato (“Batata”): crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside wedges seasoned with sea salt—an addictive side. Portions are definitely on the smaller side—three meatballs per order—so plan to add an extra plate or two if you’re really hungry. Still, the variety keeps things fun and conversational. We had a lovely dinner, I highly recommend this restaurant.

A true gem! At home feel, friendly staff, & great atmosphere! The Shashuka was incredible…great flavor & hearty portion! Breakfast burrito was really good as well as filling! Do yourself a favor and order a cappuccino 😉

Google
I ordered the Thai chicken meatballs, the grilled cabbage Caesar salad, and truffle fries, and everything was tasty. I had the Benny is Sour cocktail and it was very good, light and balanced. Friendly service. I recommend and would return.

Yelp
Copenhagen is a food mecca with something for every taste, whether you're in the mood for a Michelin-starred experience or something just as delicious for a fraction of the price. I had heard that Copenhagen boasts the best burgers, so I had to see for myself. I went for the Hangover Bacon Cheeseburger with a latte, and when my latte arrived, I couldn't help but laugh out loud (see picture attached). The Union Kitchen is known for its humorous and sometimes vulgar lattes, and they definitely delivered. The burger was tasty, though after a while, it started to taste a bit too salty. I'd return to check out the vibe at night, especially with their motto: "Get drunk early, eat balls late".

Yelp
It seems like everyone comes here for the brunch, but I came for dinner. So, I guess my review will be a little bit different and maybe help guide anyone who wants to come in the evening. I ended up at Union Kitchen because I wanted to try something a little bit less fancy. There's a lot of wonderful food in Copenhagen, but if you are looking for casual places to eat what the locals might have, it's harder than I anticipated. I sat at the bar because I was by myself, and no need to take up a table on a busy night. The waitress was a bit brash, but also kind at the same time. (This is hard to explain, so I won't even try). I ordered meatballs, garlic rolls and salad. All were so tasty... I loved the food. My meatballs came in their own frying pan with the sauce (maybe Swedish style? in a cream sauce), and the salad was quite large. Rolls also in their own baking dish, super hot, and so fluffy. I wish I could have eaten all 4, but I only had room for 2. The ambiance was pretty typical for a pub - cozy, a little loud, lots of people talking and enjoying their time. I think that this place is also dog friendly, because as I was getting ready to leave, a couple that came in with their pup were seated with him/her at a table. I love that! (Not sure if they were allowed because the staff knew them or because it's allowed in general).

Yelp
I got here about 10am and the place was mildly busy. I was immediately seated and the server handed me the menu and immediately asked what I would like to order lol. I asked for a couple minutes and immediately regretted it, as it seems I had just got in when the rush started. The place packed in with families and large parties leaving the staff having to combine tables to be able to accommodate everyone. I waited about 10 mins and then was able to put in my order. My coffee latte arrived a few minutes later and was perfectly made. Another 5 mins and my eggs Benedict arrived, also cooked perfectly and very nicely displayed. I really appreciated the bits of pomegranate that lent nice pops of sweetness that went nicely with the tang of whatever microgreens they also had on the plate. Overall, I'm so glad I stopped in here.

Yelp
Cute place, very busy! Food was good. I got the potato röst, which I really did like. It was plentiful & I could not finish the bread. Can't go wrong with salmon and poached eggs. No other way of explaining this but my husband got a free tequila shot in a penis shaped device ! This place is definitely a fun time.

Yelp
The variety of menu items was nice for any craving. Good flavors overall the service was good and the atmosphere is good for a big group with pop classics playing. The chicken and waffles are quite spicy. The shakshuka is on the more hearty side as the vegetables are cut thick. The fries are thin and crispy.

Yelp
We loved this place so much we went 3 times in a 6 day visit to Copenhagen - and even made a last stop in the airport while our flight was delayed! The vibe is amazing - excellent play list and super friendly service. The sparkling water is so great - they do charge for it but it's worth it! I had the brunch plate over and over while my husband tried the Korean fried chicken and the poached eggs with avocado toast. The green immunity juice is refreshing and the coffee is strong and tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and coffees were great, as was the service. Recommend the croque madam (see pics). Came back twice in two days!

Anders P.

Yelp
Got the fried chicken waffle. Complet with dry chicken and waffle. In addition the chicken was very spicy and it was not highlighted on the menu. So overall a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend the place.

Yelp
The food was so good! Everything was of great quality. The brunch plate was delicious and had a variety of breakfast foods. We enjoyed everything in it. Chill and casual. Great for brunch with friends. We sat inside, by the very front of the door and the cigarette smoke from the outdoor patio came in so strong. That was the only downside. Would recommend though

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite place I've eaten in Copenhagen. They have the best matcha latte I've had in my life. The best latte my husband has had in his life. The best Croque Madame I've ever had the please of consuming. Everything is just SO GOOD here. Love the vibe and coziness of the environment as well. The service is immaculate. A must visit when in this city!
google avatar

Marivic L.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast place in Copenhagen if you want something heartier than the usual fare. The Union Kitchen is right off the main strip with a small amount of outdoor tables, which were all taken, of course. That was fine though because the interior is a good size, open, and well decorated. I got the croque madame which was excellent. Crunchy, flavorful - and could have probably been good enough for two. To be honest, I wish I had found the place earlier in my trip. I would've bypassed my hotel breakfast for sure. Lovely staff. If I ever find myself in Copenhagen again, I'd try more things for bfast and other times of day.

Yelp
Loved their brunch plate which had a little bit of everything in it. It's surely a heavier platter for one person and I was pleasantly surprised that everything in the assortment tasted amazing. Even the granola tasted delicious and the unsweetened yogurt served with it was light and airy. Wish we got this quality in the US. I loved the simplicity of the little bread and cheese sandwich that we saw everywhere in Copenhagen coffee shops, something about it is simple yet satisfying. Great atmosphere and prompt service.

Yelp
Yummy!!! Very nice food!! Make reservations if you can, or come early :) The brunch plate, seemed not so big, but at the end, I was full!!

Anna E.

Yelp
Incredible! We went for breakfast and service was excellent and the coffee was amazing. I got the Brunch platter/sampler which gave me a bite of everything. Everything tasted clean and delicious, I would absolutely return if I'm ever back in Copenhagen!

Yelp
For a delicious, modern, higher-end breakfast/meal, The Union Kitchen is on point. This is the kind of place that makes you want to order a burger and beer in the morning because it just looks so good. The atmosphere is nice and service is also great. Yes, get the burger! The Hangover Bacon Cheeseburger - Truffle Fries and Chili Mayo

Yelp
Great place, just away from the crazy of Nyhavn. The food was delicious and the service was attentive. Window seats lend it a nice atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Just had an amazing kale salad here. The staff is very nice and helpful and the room is very nice as well. Definitely recommend this place. Wish I had more time in Copenhagen just so I could come back.

Yelp
For being close to a tourist area like Nyhavn, I didn't expect much, but my brunch at Union Kitchen was a great experience: 1) Food: They have a large menu with many options ranging from sweet to savory. I ordered the Croque Madame and wow. First of all, it comes with an arugula side salad with a slight honey dressing that was amazing. The Croque Madame itself came on two slices of bread with tasty ham, cheese, etc. A great meal! 2) Space: It's beautiful with its sidewalk seating and dining room seating. Bathrooms are in the back and it can get a little tight as you wait. 3) Service: They are fast and know how to handle a busy crowd. At times, they can come across as cold, but they are just trying to handle a consistent flow of guests around brunch time.

Yelp
A very popular brunch spot with locals and tourist alike. Make reservations as The Union Kitchen is packed throughout the day, especially during brunch and lunch hours. If the weather is nice, ask to be seated outside although seating is limited to 12 seats. Even on a chilly day, the interior can be very warm.

Yelp
Food was outstanding as was the atmosphere. We really enjoyed our first breakfast in Copenhagen.
google avatar

Yelp
Five stars on vibe and friendly service. Maybe the best scrambled eggs I ever had. Great truffle fries. Great cappuccino too.
google avatar

N C.

Yelp
Friendly place with good local atmosphere. Pool table of the 5 pin type. Was invited to play. Smoking was prohibited with plenty of signage. There was no lingering smoke smell. Regulations must have changed since some of the older reviews were posted.
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
Just okay with breakfast. Price was a bit high. Why isn't breakfast potatoes served instead of the salad... This is breakfast not lunch. Waffle was not good, do not order. Normally I would give this place three stars, but the vibe and the staff is pretty cool. Better place to grab a drink then food I think...

Lucas R.

Yelp
Food was absolutely great, we sat outside, and it had its vibe, service was amazing, waiters were above and beyond. Would recommend.
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
We tried one day for brunch and got the El Chapo Burrito and Organic Scrambled Eggs. The El Chapo Burrito included egg, bacon, potato, cheese, salsa & dip. What an amazing combination and the dip was such a nice addition especially since the salsa had some heat. You can't go wrong with a basic breakfast platter. The Organic Scrambled Eggs is everything we wanted and more. I could not get over that bread... Located right off Nyhavn, it's the perfect location to grab breakfast and then head out to see the Little Mermaid or the Queen's grounds (about a 20 min walk). Not one dislike! Add to your restaurant list of you're ever in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Excellent food on every level. American hip hop music in background ... healthier options (which is tricky to find in Denmark) had the falafel salad / mom had fried corn fritters. Great ambience too in hip neighborhood.

Dania H.

Yelp
The service was poor, the waitress had a terrible attitude and was very slow. The food was not very good, i would skip this if looking for a good brunch spot.
google avatar

Midori G.

Yelp
Came here for some of their viral cappuccinos! We had to sit outside because there was no room inside (which made sense for a Sunday afternoon). What we ordered: we each got one of their famous cappuccinos and split an order of fries. The fries were soooo yummy. The cappuccinos were good, but you are definitely paying for the art on top. I think they are a little over-priced for what they are. Overall, it's a neat place to try, but I don't know if I would go back.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Stopped in for a breakfast/brunch meal as we didn't find too many places offering savory dishes at the time. Ordered the hangover burger and the korean popcorn chicken. The burger and fries were ok, but not better than the other burgers we had in CPH. The popcorn chicken was basically chicken slathered in gochujang, would not order that dish again. Service was good and quick, so no complaints there.
google avatar

Ben L.

Yelp
On our latest trip to Copenhagen, we ended up having breakfast here twice. The menu is extensive with something for everyone and the food is tasty. The El Chapo burrito was a surprise hit! The staff was upbeat and friendly. If you have a strong preference for seating (indoor vs outdoor), I recommend booking a table before you arrive.
google avatar

Mario G.

Yelp
Incredible little spot! After a bout of sketchy tourist spots, this one is right off the main road. Greater with a smile a in Dutch with a quick switch to English :). It's always nice to be thought of a possibly a local vs American tourist and I stand out. The atmosphere is cute with a some hidden little funny aspects I won't give away but look around you'll enjoy it! The burger #1 - the best! The truffle fries yum, I asked for a salad and got arugula with honey mustard YUM! The Mexican bowl was a great change up. The highlight was the spicy margarita ~ the best! #1 Go here while in Copenhagen you'll be happy you did!

Yelp
Easily the best brunch in Copenhagen. I'm a native New Yorker and this meal and the drinks were something you'd find in Midtown or Williamsburg. Would definitely come back here everytime I'm in Copenhagen in the future.
google avatar

Annie B.

Yelp
Food is good and the restaurant has a very cute vibe. Wish I knew to order a latte (they put funny messages on them)!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place! Quick and friendly service. Food was exellent, great waffle for dessert. Will come back to this place next time in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast. Whole family enjoyed each of our meals. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful and courteous.

Yelp
Ahhh this placeeeeee I don't know even know where to start After walking around Nyhav and drink some glogg my bf and I were looking for some food around this touristy area.. saw this place with plenty of good reviews and we had to tried it!! We share a couple of dishes from salmon, lamb and goat cheese jalapeño balls and off course truffle fries.. and let me tell you EVERYTHING was beyond amazing, the mixture of flavors with such a high class and excellence customer service it was a delight to eat here! The place itself is adorable and very nice cute little spot! Thank you unión kitchen for making our København vacation Amazing!! So if you are in the area, check it out! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Glad we came right before rush hour. All of their seating including the bar has a wait. Servers were ok- did the minimum- brought your food and gave you your check. Don't expect American service. Tip to the servers- Wash your hands if you are sick or better yet don't come to work. Aside from that my dish was really good. The green bowl's ingredients came together so well. I opted to get scrambled vs poached egg and they charged me 10DKK additional. Highly recommend the dish, it was very flavorful.
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
Service excellent, overall really good meal and place. Spinach was over salted, but sweetcorn fritters were a hit with kids.
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
Great find in Copenhagen. Great location in the Nyhavn area but not along the trendy canal. Nice atmosphere. I sat at the bar and ordered the Greek Lamb Balls, the Veggie Balls and the Gem Salad. Really good. Probably enough for two people to share actually as there are three sizable balls per order. I also had a glass of Tempranillo Reserve which went well with the dishes. Perfect. My server at the bar, Frederick, was excellent. Hospitality as it should be everywhere. Great find, location, atmosphere and service/hospitality!
google avatar

Jaana S.

Yelp
While the food still delivers in flavor, after coming back two more times I have some complaints about how it is delivered and am forced to dock this restaurant a star. I'm not one to complain about service lightly, but the service here is painstakingly slow for both brunch and dinner. For brunch, my friend's coffee was forgotten when the rest of our beverages came out and we had to reorder it TWICE. The second time we came for dinner, our (very pricey) cocktails were served to us at different times and after a very long time (like maybe 45 minutes??). Finally, we waited about 25 minutes after ordering dessert for them to tell us that what we ordered was SOLD OUT. why did that take so long??? the food is still top-notch. the chicken and waffles is very unique and actually one of my favorite things i've eaten in Copenhagen. the side dishes at dinner are consistently enjoyable (besides the avocado....was not a fan. the avocado was WAY over spiced and it was like an avocado was invited to a spice party and not like the spices were there to accentuate the avocado), and the cheesecake we shared for dessert was actually exceptional. you should still come here, just make sure you block out 4 hours to do so.

Brian B.

Yelp
My wife and I had brunch there last week. Our food was delicious and our service was great! The restaurant is small but the atmosphere was nice.

Carla E.

Yelp
This was our first visit to The Union Kitchen for breakfast and did not have a reservation. We were seated promptly at a very nice table. The waitstaff was friendly, the food was delicious and the portions were appropriate. This is a wonderful restaurant!
google avatar

Billy A.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Service was excellent with the entire staff participating. The brunch plate is certainly shareable. . . Or not. lol. Food quality was high with quality eggs, Avocado toast, yogurt, salad, breakfast meats, waffle, fruit, and more. Coffee was great with cute messages atop the foam. Couldn't have been a better experience.

Yelp
I love the vibe here it was insanely delicious and has a very cool clientele. The adorable manager was so awesome I thought he was the owner! Yes, and I would go back here in a heartbeat but I live abroad! Fabulous place that is very "now."
google avatar

Jill R.

Yelp
We luckily came across this place when looking for a lunch spot close to our hotel! We felt like we were much older than most of the patrons in there (we are in our 50s). It had a really cool, hip vibe, with great and loud music playing. They had a lot of great options on the menu and it worked well as my husband is a vegetarian. He got the brunch plate witch they can make vegetarian and I got the rye toast, with avocado, coriander and a poached egg. The waitress was very nice and warned me that the rye toast was a small portion. We loved our food and the brunch plate had a little of everything on it, including falafel, avocado toast, cheese, waffle and what appeared to be beetroot hummus. Service was great and it was an outstanding meal!
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Fantastic food service and atmosphere. As Americans abroad we wanted to experience some local favorites. We loved it!
google avatar

Yelp
The Union Kitchen is a must visit when in Copenhagen. Excellent place for brunch, lunch and light dinner fare. Most of the meals are based around different varieties of meat balls. I had the chicken balls in coconut curry sauce with rice. Fantastic. I paired it with Union Kitchen Pilsner which was refreshing and crisp. Summing it up Union Kitchen is a great bar with great service, great food, great music and a cool modern vibe. I look forward to my next visit for sure.

Yelp
! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! We stumbled upon this little treasure tucked away on Store Strandstraede in central Copenhagen. What a find!!! Lucky us!!! PLUS - who wouldn't try a place that advertises their restaurant's menu online as, "MEAT OUR BALLS, Pick your balls, sauce & something to put them on or in..."?!?!? Heck yes, we MUST try it out! Glad we did! After along day, (I'm stealing this from another fellow "Yelper")... we were "Hungry, tired, desperate and despondent for a good, reasonably priced meal..." Finding this little gem, we were promptly seated at a table outside. Now picture this... the restaurant has a ~6 foot deep sidewalk in front of the restaurant... so "outdoor seating" also includes fantastic mid-century-modern metal tables scattered in the "parking lane / street gutter" in front of the establishment... crazy, yes I know, but so cute and absolutely the most fun we've ever had "eating in the street"!!! The waiter and waitress (we kinda had two people serving us...?) were just absolutely delightful. Accommodating, kind, professional, prompt... we certainly enjoyed them! We took the bartender's recommendation for a bottle of red wine and didn't regret one single sip ~ delicious ~ full bodied, spicy without being dry or overwhelming... he nailed the recommendation! Menu. Oh the menu. Where do I begin? Sooooooooo unique! Totally unexpected and so diverse it became quickly difficult to make a decision! Fortunately for us, one of the employees was just finishing her shift and pointed out a couple of her favorite dishes - so glad we listened!!!!!!! For starters, we chose the fries with truffle oil and organic goats cheese salad with roasted root veg & croutons - both were fantastic choices. The fries were piping hot an the dipping sauce (truffle oil) was magnificently done... a bit on the sweet side for my taste buds but lovely in its own respect! The goat cheese salad looks small but is deceiving to the eye. Homemade tasted bread croutons and lovely bits of goat cheese with lentils - oh my! So good... For our entrees, we ordered the chicken meatballs with mash & gorgonzola sauce and my spouse ordered the chicken balls with avocado mash, sweet & sour veg & teppanyaki sauce. Both dishes were served piping hot and in the smallest of bowls - we were actually concerned at the apparent small portions - glad we didn't over-order - the portions were actually very deceiving and neither of us could quite finish our bowls!!!!! The meatballs with mash & gorgonzola was brilliantly done... three meatballs plopped in the middle of (what I discovered) a heaping pile of fluffy mashed potatoes. The meatballs were so moist and well-flavored... a taste I can't quite identify but was wonderful. The gorgonzola sauce was drizzled over the entire dish in just the right amount - not too much to be heavy but enough to flavor every bite. The meatballs with avocado mash were equally as brilliant! Three meatballs cuddled up with a smattering of deliciously cooked vegetables - drizzled with teppanyaki sauce. WOWZERS! Again, just perfectly done. Our quick dinner turned into an evening sitting at our on-street table enjoying wine and fabulous cuisine! We couldn't have asked for a better ending to an exhausting day! Whether local or tourist - this is a must. No questions asked, everyone should enjoy an evening of dining and wining here!!!

Yelp
It's a really cute restaurant that seems to cater to tourists. You don't have to buy water, which is typical for most restaurants in Copenhagen. The food was delicious but the portions were pretty small for most things, except for the more expensive items on the menu. It's good food but small portions, and it is pricey but not bad for a city like Copenhagen.
