Houston’s Union Kitchen Is Hosting a Beyoncé-Themed Brunch in Celebration of the “Renaissance” Premiere - Eater Houston

"Houston welcomed Beyoncé, the city’s own hometown icon, with a bevy of drink specials, pop-up events, and dining shindigs to prepare for her tour stop at NRG Stadium in September, and with the upcoming worldwide premiere of her concert film Rennaissance: A Film by Beyoncé on Friday, December 1, Union Kitchen is preparing yet another celebration for Beyhivers. All five of Union Kitchen’s outposts, including its locations in Memorial, Oak Forest, Cypress, Katy, and Kingwood, will host a family-friendly Queen Bey-themed brunch this Saturday, December 2, complete with honeycomb-topped cocktails and spirited brunch fare soundtracked by the songstress’s full music catalog." - Brittany Britto Garley

I had an excellent time at Union Kitchen in Kingwood. I have been to the Ella location frequently, but it was my first time at this location. Our server, Jordan was excellent. I could tell she was very well trained. She was very knowledgeable on both the food and wine menu. I have been a server for many years of my life and I can say I was very impressed! The Cajun chicken pasta was delicious. I plan to be back!

Yall this is absolutely amazing. Me and my family went here not too long ago and was absolutely shocked on how amazing the food was! Everything was delicious and amazing! The service was great and had such a helpful and kind staff! The atmosphere is so warm and inviting such a great nice warm lighting! Oh and the caribbean tacos were to die for! The banana bread pudding was the best I've ever had! Please go here its such an amazing restaurant with great prices and splendid food!

Had the filet with potatoes and Tyler's chicken pasta. Both were very tasty and just the right portion sizes. The dessert was beignets and the chocolate eruption. The beignets were hot and fluffy. The chocolate eruption was good but very rich. The star of the show was our amazing server. She was on top of everything, her personality was awesome and she was so warm and friendly.

If I started this review from the moment we met the server it would be a perfect 5 star review.. The hostess swiftly sat us at a table and rushed back to her podium before we could ask for a hi chair for the baby. After that the rest was great! Food: The braised short rib ravioli felt like a new chapter of taste was awakened in my mouth. The goat cheese with bacon jam was actually my favorite despite the flavor enlightening but mainly because that short bread paired perfectly with the dip. Finally, my wife reviewed the beignets the best in saying they rival the famous cafe du monde in New Orleans Louisiana in who has the best beignets worldwide! Service: Our waitress (whose name I could not understand) was all too kind and attentive to swiftly refill drinks and while offering house specials. Overall, this is a great date night restaurant and would recommend to others!

Everything you see in my pics was delicious. The Elvis, the beignet’s, the Union breakfast and the chicken and waffles. We had the bubbles which is a bottle of champagne w two flavor juices for mimosas. The atmosphere was amazing. Very quiet and eye catching. We will definitely be back.

I ordered grilled salmon, mashed potatoes and "crispy" brussels. The brussels were swimming in oil, soggy, were overcooked and not properly cleaned. They all still had the hard, inedible stem attached. They were supposed to be prepared with lemon aoli but there was none. The salmon tasted like it was cooked with chemical smoke and not naturally grilled- or perhaps it was the fuel used to make the fire? The entire meal was bland, overcooked and unremarkable. The only plus was the portion size, but can an excess of nasty food be a plus?

My boyfriend and I stumbled into this place by complete circumstance, and we’re more than THRILLED that we did! Jordan, our server, was an absolute dream! Nadia, the owner came out and spoke with us and was so personable, we’ve definitely found a new favorite restaurant in the neighborhood! Thank you, Jordan and Nadia for such a wonderful experience, and such AMAZING food!

Google
I love eggs Benedict, however the special was salmon Benedict 😋 I wasn't much in the mood for potatoes (though theirs is delicious lol) so I got the GRITS AND OMG GOOD ! The gouda and jalapeno was perfect. I added the bacon and avocado. The berry lemon drop was fabulous. The service was amazing. Honestly they have stepped up in a major way from my last visit years ago. The manager was cool and I almost forgot the baked brie. It was so good I forgot forgot to take a picture 😆

Yelp
First time in for brunch and it was great. Server Jason did great and always had a welcoming smile. It seemed as though the staff were all smiles and happy to be there. Just moved to the area and we are looking forward to becoming regulars. The Manager (can't remember her name) stopped by welcomed us in and let us know about the events they do and there happy hour which is a great deal. we plan on coming in Fridays for happy hour.

Yelp
Bummed that I didn't take more pictures! I had a White Russian and the Elvis Waffles. Belgian waffles with peanut butter and bananas. I ordered a side of bacon (extra crispy). It's been a couple of weeks and I still think k of those waffles. So worth going back for. Forget what my friend ordered. I ate some (but those waffles have my heart!) Waitress was training and did an excellent job! It's very pretty inside. I felt a little underdressed. It was ok though. Didn't feel judged. Great little place to go with your girlfriends or a fun Saturday breakfast date! Go!!

Yelp
Whew! This little unassuming establishment served up delicious eats and amazing service! We've passed up the spot frequently, and frankly, I didn't think twice about stopping. BUT I saw a social media post about their Kids Eat Free (June/July) promotion and decided to give it a try. Now, let's get to it! 1. We were able to make reservations on their website, which was a plus! We walked right in to our table. The hostesses were friendly and greeted us promptly! 2. Sitting area was a little tight, but hey, it felt like we were all at the dining table together. Dimly lit and Quaint touch with white table cloths. 3. Our server, Tyler, was exceptional in recommending dishes and serving our large family of 6. 4. The children's portions of meals were huge compared to other establishments. Does not come with a drink. 5. I'm not sure if the food was super delish or if I was so impressed that it tricked my taste buds. The food was decent though. We had the brunch steak, chicken fried chicken meal, kids pizza, and kids chicken and waffles. The chicken fried steak batter was perfect, but I could've done without the cheese and jalapeños. Steak was a little tough, but we're tough critics, it isn't a steakhouse. Everything else was excellent! I'm giving this establishment a 5/5. Can't wait to return and try all of the different menu items!

Yelp
I saw an article about a fish sandwich special, so went to try it. Their batter is amazing, I was super happy with my choice. My husband loved his chicken fried steak. The atmosphere was fine, nothing super special. The service was great. I'm so excited to have found this place, there is lots I am looking forward to trying on the menu. I can't wait to go back

Yelp
So many things are wrong here from poorly executed and unpleasant food and service, to things being forgotten, to the broken glassware we were given. Server just kept it moving like the issues are typical everyday. One of the worst experiences we have had. They offered us a free appetizer for when we come back. We definitely won't be back....

Yelp
After attending The Kingwood Pops Orchestra performance yesterday afternoon, we had dinner at this amazing restaurant. Overall everything was outstanding for our group: service was excellent and attentive; ambiance was casual and relaxing and the taste and quality of everyones food was delicious. I had the Rodeo Burger which was beef overload...lol! Short-rib on top of a perfectly cooked patty was just what I was looking for. I highly recommend trying this casual restaurant out.
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
Consistent, delicious, diverse menu. Attentive service, ambience is welcoming , elegantly appointed. Ambience is genuine yet not pretentious..

Yelp
Saw the pictures of their food on yelp and looked amazing for their sandwiches! From the outside it looked like an American diner place. I been here, so why not walk in and check it out? Once I walked in it looked like the hostess looked disappointed to see me. To be honest, I was in casual attire (not anything undressed either) and immediately noticed how misleading their place is. Very fancy type environment on the inside, but not so nice from the outside. Very misleading. Got seated anyways, but no one came to the table to greet or even acknowledge us for a good 15-20 minutes. Decided to simply get up and leave as I did not feel welcomed in the environment. Shouldn't assume I just don't have the money type feeling. Oh well!

Yelp
I would love to give an outstanding review but sadly I cannot. We have eaten at Union Kitchen for many years and even hosted private parties. At this price point and quality of restaurant, to not offer bread service is a huge strike. I remember in the past, people raving to others "you have to eat there even if just for the bread!" Unfortunately that went away, and now they no longer offer anything. This isn't Chili's. This should feel a little above that. Next, the decor needs a refreshing. Period. Wouldn't take much to update the asthetics. As far as the food, our appetizers, salads, and soup arrived about 2 minutes before our entrees were delivered. By the time we all got to our main course it was cold. Some of the food was good, about half was very very average. ... Again, for the price point, not acceptable. Come on Union Kitchen!! A few small changes and you could have folks lined up out the door. Kingwood needs you!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Underwhelming is the only word that comes to mind. Nothing we ordered blew us away and every dish was severely under seasoned. I think the chef is afraid of salt. For the price point, environment and menu descriptions, I expected more. The lobster grilled cheese could have been any meat, or tofu for that matter. I couldn't even taste that it was lobster. Service was good and our waiter was kind but we left unsatisfied and mad that I spent $100 for below sub par food.

Yelp
Went here for a family brunch, was fun, energetic/helpful staff, helpfully the TUK doesn't xlose all its locations though! We've been to 3 and 2/3 were managed well. Unfortunately one or two closed their doors

Yelp
Food and service was excellent. I don't remember the name of our waitress but she was the sweetest lady. Next time we're in town I'll be sure to stop in again.

Yelp
The Chef made something special for me when I asked if it could be done & Wow! He made something GREAT! There were 5 of us, including a child (which they made a grilled cheese sandwich! - Brilliant!) & awarded us 2 free desserts. Friendly Server, help & Management.

Yelp
Excellent service even during the hurricane plenty of air-conditioned and great food!

Yelp
They were not having a good day on the day we visited. The servers were awful and the food was subpar. They don't usually have a day like this, so I'm going to visit them again because of the locations are actually pretty good. Sometimes people just have a bad day.

Yelp
Excellent lunch menu to choose from. Food we ordered was awesome! Server, Jessica, was also excellent. Impressed by the ambiance. We enjoyed our lunch meal with family.

Yelp

Yelp
Price : $$ Vibe: homey but quaint ! Service: Nadia was amazing from the moment we walked in the door throughout the entire dining experience. Highly recommend her ! Food: the portion size was amazing I mean literally every entree we had two People could definitely eat off it. My favorite was the voodoo balls but everything we had was amazing! Highly recommend the brunch spot !

Yelp
Food is good. Service is usually good. My last visit left me wondering about a few things. A young woman was evidently assigned the job of dusting fans and air vents. But, PLEASE, not just a few feet from where I am eating I don't blame her and I did not want her to get in trouble since she was obviously doing what she was told. But to the management on duty that day? Shame on you. Ewwwe!

Monica S.

Yelp
In one month we went there twice . I believe in second chance , but there won't be any more . First time it was just 2 people for dinner , food was good but service was terrible. Second time we went with friends from out of state and some from out of country. What a disappointment in customer service . Food was good again but our server was even worse then first time . It's like they don't care if we have drinks or water or if we need refill on beer or order more food or dessert. Is manager of this restaurant hires people who has no experience and never worked in restaurant business? I will never go back to this place and will not recommend this place to anyone. I will pay more money and have better service than this .

Yelp
I checked out this place while in town. It wasn't far from the hotel. Was able to be seated right away and there was plenty of parking. Staff was friendly. And we had a great server. We actually noticed a lot of workers so we never really needed anything. I ordered the lobster grill cheese. It's described as "Buttery lobster, brioche bread, Gruyere cheese, avocado, red and green pesto, tomato bisque". I had fries with mine. This was thee best. Omg, I only ate half the sandwich and had the soup and fries. Since I was going back home, I kept the other half for later. Even that was great as I sat in the airport with delayed flights. This was a good experience. Food was amazing. Great service from the staff. Would go back.

Yelp
The Kingwood Union Kitchen is wonderful! Outstanding food - I especially like Peggy's Scallops! I can't eat red meat, but I have it on good authority that the Union Burger is outstanding in flavor & size. It is a beautiful restaurant with a full bar. Excellent for taking friends or for the two of us. Our favorite place for excellent variety of good food.

Chanthia G.

Yelp
Everything was great and absolutely perfect!! The food was delicious and freshly prepared! The server Rachel was amazing!!! Yelp
Good lunch salad. Had a few different lunch salads there and its always good. Prices are a bit high but its a nice place.
google avatar

Yelp
HAPPY HOUR MUST!! This place has the BEST happy hour menu. An assortment of cocktails, draft drinks and well drinks to go along with some scrumptious 1/2 price appetizers. We sat at the bar and had fabulous service. The Nola Voodoo Balls and carnitas egg rolls so tasty. They have delicious salads and a wonderful meatloaf, but don't forget to save room for dessert. The Fresh Beignets better than any I've ever had.

Yelp
Love going here... the food is excellent and they have a great wine selection! The service is always responsive and professional.

Yelp
The Bleu Pizza and Mediterranean Brussel Sprouts were amazing. The pizza provided a welcome change to the normal pizza, both sweet and savory!

Yelp
My experience was great!! I had server Kylen and she gave great customer service. I would definitely come back again!!

Yelp
I used to go by for lunch and always enjoyed it. However, I had a horrible experience when I went for dinner. It took 15 minutes to get our bar drinks. My old fashioned tasted fine, but was served with a nasty looking orange peel. My lady had a raspberry martini and it tasted like a vitamin water with only a hint of raspberry and mostly soda water. She tried to drink the martini, but ended up switching to the mango mojito. The mango mojito came out with so much mango purée it was like drinking straight mango purée. She did not finish that drink either, just had a sip or two and never touched it again. So fine, we decide to switch to a bottle of wine since it's not something that is mixed. Our server brings our 2 wine glasses that are obviously freshly washed, but were definitely not dried. The server then tells me "here you go, the glasses are chilled." Like I'm some child that will believe my glasses are full of water because the glass is chilled, and slightly warm to the touch from the hot water it was just washed with. So they really missed the mark on the drinks, but the appetizer wasn't bad. We had the lobster potstickers which tasted good. But, the entrees were awful. My lady had salmon that was extremely dry. The taste on the salmon was actually nice, but super dry. I had the pork chop. It tasted ok, but it was cooked rare when I ordered medium well, and I definitely don't want rare pork. Not for me.

Yelp
Been there quite a few times. I like the food. Atmosphere is great. Braised Beef Short Ribs Fish and Chips

Leah M.

Yelp
This used to be a upper class place for food. This was terrible. Reconstituted eggs, premade sausage from a factory. Hard and dry and overdone potatoes. Biscuit and gravy cold and questionable if it was predone too. Worse than waffle house. The amt of food in the picture, they asked if they could take. I let them, but surprisingly there weren't alot of people here so I'm not understanding the rush. Btw, dont expect bottomless mimosas and bloody mary bar anymore, they removed that as well. Im not even going to start on my husbands HOT MESS breakfast, awful too. Redeeming thing... a 10$ expresso irish martini. So sad whats happened at this place!
google avatar

Lo R.

Yelp
Good sized portions and full of flavor. The first time I went there I ordered two plates thinking I was going to be hungry still. Instead I ended up taking the second plate to go, so I had my meal for later

Yelp
So my brother in law and a family friend decided to go here after helping with some furniture at her place. The feeling of this restaurant was nice and welcoming from the beginning. The staff were very friendly and helped us with questions that we had since this was our first time coming. Our friend and I decided to go with the Cajun Chicken Pasta and my goodness was that so amazing! Flavorful and they had extra seasoning on the rim of the plate to add more if you decide too. My brother-in-law got the short rib grilled cheese which he said was amazing. We will most certainly be back to try other menu items!

Tyler K.

Yelp
Had I great meal and customer service was excellent with our server kylen also very welcomed and special.

Yelp
Was in town with my in-laws and we wanted to grab lunch nearby and The Union Kitchen was actually open. We did not have reservations, but were seated without any problems. It was a Sunday, so they were offering both the brunch and lunch menus when we arrived. It did take a bit to get the lunch menu after we sat down, but our server was attentive after that. My mother-in-law and I both had the California Benedict. We both enjoyed our meals. My hollandaise sauce was just the right amount, but I think my eggs could have been poached a touch longer. The potatoes were also good, but I felt overall, the portion size could have been a bit bigger, I mean we are in Texas, right? My husband ordered the burger and he was actually able to get in medium rare! When we're home (in California), we often don't get a true medium rare even when ordering it that way. He enjoyed the burger and fries. My father-in-law had the cobb salad and enjoyed that as well. Overall, I thought the food was good as was the service.

Yelp
Finally made my way to this outpost of the Union Kitchen in Kingwood. It was a cool, blustery day so I was pleased all staff wearing masks and wearing them correctly. Tables and patrons were well spread and care was taken throughout our meal. We started with lobster dumplings and while they were tasty they weren't as luscious as one would expect lobster to be. The sriracha sauce adorning the plate also overwhelmed the lobster perhaps contributing to their lackluster finish. The main courses however were stellar. My companion had the soup of the day which was a charro bean creation liberally mixed with bacon. Perfect on a chilly day. It disappeared rapidly and the dish was left a clean white as every errant drop was absorbed. My short rib grilled cheese was exceptional. There was no shortage of tender, braised short rib in a sandwich oozing with cheese. The bacon jam added just the right amount of bright sweetness and the bread was crisp and resonated with butter. All in all a very satisfying meal. I will be back.
google avatar

Brandon J.

Yelp
The food was decent. It's one of my favorite go to spots right here in the amble area. I can't say that I was overly excited about the menu. The service was prompt and fast great service the food seven out of 10 but that's a solid seven if you're looking for a more commercial vibe here in Houston, you can't go wrong in Kitchen. It's also a great place for groups and it's a great place for Sunday brunch very tasty.
google avatar

Tommy H.

Yelp
It's been some time since I've stopped by the UK. Last visit the waitstaff was attentive, location clean, quiet, and quite nice. The food was inoffensive, bland and basic. For a fine dining style restaurant and not inexpensive it was disappointing. Nothing was "wrong" enough to send back. But it was like a Luby's Buffet next door was making the plates.

Mallory U.

Yelp
Food is always incredible and their service is great! We loved their brunch menu on Easter!
google avatar

Khola S.

Yelp
Not for me. I have tried a few time but don't like anything in there. Nice atmosphere and service isn't bad either.

Jacquelin W.

Yelp
Food and service were both good. It's a great place to go for a meal after church, they can easily accommodate largecgrouosbb

Yelp
the food was really great. My husband and I enjoyed everything about the restaurant.

Yelp
I appreciate you guys reaching out. I consider that really good customer service and it's delicious.

Yelp
Food was ok, I think I will not choose the seafood pasta dish with hot strawberries ever again! But my mother definitely enjoyed the pork chop and mashed potatoes. I'd go again, and order something else lol

Yelp
Best scallops I've ever had. We've been there twice now. Great food. Great place to try

Yelp
This TUK as taken a fall. Wife and I went for dinner. It was fairly empty, the staff was attentive. The food was dreadful. Order was missing things or did not have items on it. The grits, seemed to be day old or something just not right.
