"Cozy is a common descriptor for Bailey’s — it often seems to have more beer on draught than it does seats. The tap house was an early adopter of the display screen, with a wide TV showing beers on taps and pertinent information about them, from IBU to ABV. Despite its beer-geekery, the staff is always friendly and approachable, enthusiastically helping guests find a beer to their liking. Directly above Bailey’s is its companion bar, The Upper Lip. The window-lined bar feels more spacious than Bailey’s (despite its identical blueprint) and offers a smaller, more focused tap list, as well as a moderate selection of bottles." - Alex Frane

Secret little pub around the corner, down an alley, up a flight of stairs. Great location and layout of the place. Extensive selection of hard to find bottled beers that are for consumption on premises. 10 taps of interesting beers and some wine selection. This place is certainly geared towards beer nerds that aren't satisfied with the options downstairs at Baily's Taproom. Don't let that put you off, have a few testers and settle in with something you like.

Love this spot! It's great meeting spot right in down town. They have an extensive selection of beer on tap and in their bottle fridge. The staff know their beer and can help you make a selection. They do close a bit early but the down stairs bar stays open a bit later.

Fantastic branch if bailey's taphouse. Fewer beers on draft, but still fantastic selections. Tons of bottles, great staff, a bunch of board games free to play, and some great tables for conversation. My personal favorite bar in Portland.

Portland is everything right in the world. After watching the Storm clinch their third world title in the Independent, my friend and I went to Bailey’s for some amazing beers (disputed a tap takeover from Chuckanut), and then we finished the evening at The Upper Lip. Great place just for the taps, but the bottles (which you can only drink their) are next level. Seriously, one of the best selections I’ve ever seen. I even found my favorite beer, Ralph, from Ale Apothecary.

The Upper Lip is a great quiet tap room. We first came here before it was even Google listed during our honeymoon adventures. I enjoyed the night city view. We recently returned and they were running a hops contest with the beers on tap. My husband won one of their gift cards! Being that we had returned home to San Diego, we were able to transfer it to a friend that lives in Portland. Always a pleasure visiting this place!

One of my new favorite spots. It's awesome to be able to grab a beer at a good location and not have to shout at the person sitting across from you in order to have a conversation. If Bailey's is ever packed (heck, even if it isn't) you should definitely find the door for The Upper Lip.

Great atmosphere and beer list. Amazing draft list and bottle selections. Highly recommend for someone that wants to drink a craft beer in a cozy, cool environment and be served by a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Drawn by the reviews, but honestly a very average experience. The custom taps were interesting but the 4 I tried were all basically flawed in fundamental ways. Gangster rap on the stereo clashes with the decor and its dead at 8pm while the bartender plays on his cell. Not 'bad', but not what the reviews had me expecting.
