Found them at the Kensington Farmer’s Market and the owner invited me to come to Greek night! They had live music on the patio. The wines they sell are delicious! It seems to be a family place. I wish there were more selections of Greek food, but it was still so yummy! Love the vibe here, tucked away in an industrial area. It’s unexpected and unique and I’ll definitely be back!

The Urban Winery was an incredible host for our chapter dinner. They helped us setup tables, develop a signature cocktail for our dinner, and kept the food and wine flowing for the entire event. Our membership loved the atmosphere, food and wine. Thank you so much to the Urban Winery team. We can't wait to come back.

Google
Interesting winery concept - more of a wine bar that makes wine (don’t grow their grapes but buys them from mostly local vineyards). Located in a small industrial area right behind a Silver Spring residential area. A bit tucked away, but google maps and road signs will get you there. We went on a drizzly day, so no one was using the nicely decorated patio. The door cleverly looks like a cooler of wine 🫶 Inside there were 3 seating areas - the bar, a bunch of high tops near the bar, and a bunch of tables along the front wall facing out on the patio. Nice decor & vibe when we arrived as about half the tables were occupied. It a cinder block, concrete building so it got noisier as more tables were filled. No one chose to sit at the bar or high tops. There was 1 woman working her butt off…very efficiently. Can’t speak to the food since we had lunch prior to arrival (see Polka Deli review). However the tapas and especially the charcuterie boards at nearby tables looked delish. Wines are okay to good, a couple not good. These are not meant to be serious wines but support the concept behind a growing trend for urban wineries in cities. Go ahead and google it, the economics are good and there are quasi-franchise backers. That’s not to imply that’s the case here, based on their web info this family has been into it before the trend. What I really like is that they also sell wines that they didn’t make, mostly local wineries and some imports that the big distributors aren’t pushing. You won’t find Yellowtail or 14 Hands on their shelf. The prices were not bad either. They also offer make your own classes and do group events. See their website for details…part of what makes them interest!

Google
This is a very nice and cozy wine tasting place and the most of the wines are locally made. Red Adventure tasting menu is a great set menu - chamborcin, Philotimo & 2017 Syrah.

Google
Fantastic - the White Cranberry is perhaps the best wine I’ve ever tasted. The place is beautiful and clean. Mike, the server was incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ll stop again if I’m in the area.

Google
I hidden gem in Silver Spring. Not just a winery, as they offer beer and cocktails as well as offerings of mezze. The wines include local favorites from around MD and their international wines include Greek, such as Charilys, Moschofilero and Naoussa. They also have few French offerings. Events include live music, yoga & wine, farmers market, wine classes and much more. They also have outdoor seating for warm days, so bring your pooch. The owner and staff are amazing! They truly embody the spirit of philoxenia; they make you feel like family.

Google
Relaxing, cozy, and great hospitality! Damon, the owner told us so much about the wine flights and served delicious charcuteries. We can’t wait to return in the spring!

We had a fantastic time! We were 10 people with our 4 kids (ages 3-8). We danced a lot with the songs of Spyros Koliavasilis, we tasted the tasty appetizers and tasted also the great wines! It is a great place for families as well!

Yelp
What a hidden gem in Silver Spring! When I pulled up I was a bit apprehensive as it's located in an industrial area but I was surprisingly shocked once I entered the venue. They have a huge space inside including a bar area and the cutest patio area outside where they have live music. The wine options were incredible! If you are into semi-sweet wines this is the perfect place for you. The flights were only $15-20 with generous pours. We also had a charcuterie board which I loved that it was made on-site. The service was really good! It seemed it was a family-run business which you could feel in the interactions.

Yelp
I am familiar with Urban Winery's products from the many wine festivals throughout the years. It was nice to visit their location for Saturday lunch. Things to Note: * This location is in the cut. Its in an industrial area that makes you question if you are going the right way. But keep following the signs. * When you arrive, you will find plenty of parking. * There is a cute outdoor patio for the nicer weather days. The inside is a beautiful transformation from the outside. There are traditional restaurant seating, high tables and a bar. I sat at the bar and was greeted by two staff members. They provided me with the menu. I ordered the: * Metro Wine flight: Green Apple Riesling, White Cranberry Pinot Gris, and Blueberry Pinot Noir. I have had all of Urban Winery's metro wines. You can't lose with any of them. They are all light, nicely flavored, and you got to be careful because you'll forget that you're drinking wine * Greek Meatballs with Pita. This dish was very good and filling. It was like eating a gyro. I would love for them to consider adding a television to the bar during football season:) If they did this, it would be a spot for me to escape. A place where I can peacefully eat, drink, and enjoy a wonderful environment.

Yelp
I went yesterday to the wine tasting event. I really enjoyed it. They have outdoor seating as well. The decor was cute. They have a wine wall. When I entered, I was greeted. I felt welcomed. It wasn't busy at all. There was music playing. The host, Damon, did a good job explaining the different wines and providing information. If you had a question, he would answer it. There was about 15 attendees at the event. The vibe was good and relaxing. He introduced us to his wife. She was very nice. One of the wines that we taste was made by her. I would go again to another one of their tasting events. So I went back to the winery for a cake and sip event on 4/7. Nothing Bundt Cakes provided the cake samplings. The staff member from the cake place was very nice and explained the flavors of cakes that were being sampled and the wine that went with the cakes.

Yelp
The food and wine selection were lovely. I was surprised that the server did not explain the wines. Besides that, the service was good. The clientele at the winery was lovely. Everyone seemed to be dedicated to enjoying the afternoon.

Yelp
Urban winery! How have I not visited you sooner?! I found a yoga event online and this was the venue. Our ticket cost included wine tasting and a charcuterie. I loved the atmosphere. The owner was great and shared his story of how urban winery came round be. He was very friendly, thorough and welcoming. I'll definitely go back to experience the food and more wines.

Deseree C.

Yelp
At first I was confused because the location is in an industrial area but once you get inside the winery it's pretty nice! The staff was friendly and the wine flights were tasty. The bartender even explained a little back story on each wine I picked.

Alicia R.

Yelp
Was advertised as Black owned and is NOT. The wine was good, ambience was nice, just correct google and be removed from being listed as a black owned winery.

Yelp
**3.5 stars** Wanted some wine and during this pandemic, it's more important than ever to support local businesses. Zoe was helpful and made my visit feel appreciated. I was looking for a Bordeaux. I was looking for the traditional French Bordeaux, but Zoe mentioned that they had a South African Bordeaux as well. Being a little adventurous, I purchased. I popped it open when I got home, and it was just ok. It had a nice "bite" at the end, but I felt I've had better. Furthermore, I wasn't feeling the ridiculous up-charge on a bottle that normally ranges from $10 - $16. I guess one has to make a profit some how. I can't wait until this pandemic is over, because I'm eager to dine-in and do a little sippin'.

Melody C.

Yelp
Urban Winery is open during the pandemic, but it is recommended to make a reservation in advance. It was pretty easy to make a reservation online for a Saturday evening. There was also plenty of street parking and available parking lots nearby. (Free parking on Saturday and Sunday!) We were warmly greeted at the door and led to our table inside. All staff wore masks, even though guests did not have to wear them at the table. Our hostess was really sweet. She was very knowledgeable about all the wines offered. I ordered a Silver Spring white wine and a chenin blanc. Both were really good--light, dry, and refreshing! I was surprised at how much I liked the Silver Spring--it had a citrus note. The chenin blanc was a totally different flavor profile, but was just as good--it tasted more buttery to me. I'm no wine connoisseur so you'll have to judge for yourself. My friend and I ordered the "pick two" charcuterie board which came with some dried fruits, nuts, bread, and crisps. I forgot to ask for gluten free crackers, but our server was so kind to bring some afterwards. So yes, they have gluten free crisps! Overall, it was a very pleasant evening. The service was good, the wines were lovely, and the ambiance was just what we were looking for--very chill and laid back. I will definitely be coming back! Perhaps I'll do the wine flights next time!

Yelp
I discovered The Urban Winery at OC Wine Fest 2019. It was great to finally get a chance to visit their gift shop, taste featured wine, and enjoy food from food truck on a well lit socially distant patio. The gift shop sells olive oil, balsamic vinegar, fabric face masks, wine scented candles, wine by bottle or can, and alcoholic and nonalcoholic slush. Since I love the Blueberry Pinot Noir, Zoe P. recommend the Blue-Eyed Good Boy, a blueberry wine. They offered a Mango Strawberry Lemon Lime non-alcoholic slush and Cinnamon Sangria alcoholic slush. The Cinnamon Sangria was fruity, refreshing, and delicious. I felt the effects afterwards. We enjoyed the Cheese Please! and Pretty in Pepperoni pizza from Timber Pizza Company. Before leaving the winery, I had to buy a bottle of Blueberry Pinot Noir and 4 pack of Peachard. Zoe also told us about American Shochu Company, Brewers Association of Maryland, Maryland Wine Trail, and Maryland Wine Association.

Natalie 'Monita' E.

Yelp
My boyfriend passed by and saw a sign outside for their wine class. He got us two seats for that night and I can say he made a great choice. We had a wine connoisseur teach us about a specific kind of wine where it comes from and how it's made. Plus we had tastings and food pairings. The owners sat at the table with us and were leaners as well. Everyone was so nice as we were new and they answered every question we had. The owners are very knowledgeable. Although it's a little small it's very cozy and they have differnt events throughout the week. Also their wine is made in house. The one of the owners dad taught her how to make wine long ago. We will definitely be making this a monthly date as we want to learn more about wine.

Yelp
Nice spot. Chris was welcoming and helpful with finding what I had a taste for on a rainy day. The decor is cute. At the bar they have what I'm assuming is call a 'wall of winners' where their award winning wines from the past and present are presented with their ribbons. They sell wine inspired soy candles for $20 each. The jar is cut from wine bottles and rounded out along the edges. The green apple candle is based off their apple wine and the strawberry rosé scent follows suit. The scent is pretty strong, which I'm a fan of. This is based off my first visit so I don't know when they switched up on their flatbreads but if I would've known I would be receiving a supermarket frozen pizza I would've saved my money. My picture is the 2019 version of their "Urban Flatbread". I was looking forward to a crispy, fresh veggie flatbread pizza. I was able to taste their canned wines. The Hop'd Wine made is wine combined with, you guessed it, hops. Essentially each can is like two glasses of wine in one. $10/can. The White Wine IPA was refreshing. They also have a pomegranate zinfandel (Pomfandel) which is the sweetest option of the three and a peach chardonnay (Peachard). They have plenty of events planned with some unique options like Vino & Vinyasa. It's nice to have a local place for a winery tour as well.

Julia I.

Yelp
Venue is aesthetically pleasing. Cute to meet friends for a BYOB get together if anything. If you're having drinks here, it'd probably be a good idea to call your order in a week ahead or tailgate somewhere before coming.

Yelp
How many wineries around the DMV area can you think of that are just a 5 minute walk from the metro?? There aren't too many. As soon as I walked in, I immediately fell in love with the vibe. The lights were dim, the stacked barrels looked cool on the back wall, and there was a fair distribution of high and low tables. The place was mostly empty. I was happily invited to the bar by the two patrons and the bartender... and I was intrigued by how knowledgeable she and the other staff were about their overwhelming list of wines!!! Undeniably, the standout for me was the Cranberry Malbec. Could easily get a bottle of that... and one day, I will. And surprise!!! This place has more than just crackers, cheeses and chocolates. They have a full food menu, including wings!! While you may not get super stuffed unless you spend an arm and a leg, it's a great option to have. I had the mac n cheese and she had the wings, we enjoyed everything! Drop by during happy hour and you won't be disappointed. Good job, Silver Spring!

Anne-Olive N.

Yelp
How amazing that there's a winery right in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring? My friends and I stopped by to share a bottle of Strawberry Rosé from the Metro series which is one of the best selling wines. It's a light, sweet wine which is perfect for after work you want a quick pick me up without the headache. The bottle is $26 which is a tad bit pricey, but it's nice to know that I am supporting a locally owned business. There's also the option to get some food on the side which we opted out of because we just came from dinner. This is a nice spot for a date night or night out in Silver Spring with some friends. With cold weather approaching, I sure do hope they get some heated lamps out!

Jackie R.

Yelp
Urban Winery is an absolute gem. My friend and I were taking a walk on Georgia Ave and we saw a sign for it, and we stopped in spontaneously. I'm so happy we did! Upon walking in, the atmosphere is warm and exciting. I loved seeing the barrels, bottles of wine everywhere, and the variation of tables. You can sit at the bar, high top table or low table. And how often do you see high tops with actually comfortable chairs? I also loved how the tables were decorated with a wine bottle and a rose. We were greeted immediately by the bartender and she came to our table to explain the menu in detail. She was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, and gave us things to consider when trying each wine. Kudos to her, she really made our experience what it was. I loved the concept of the flights ($15 each). You could try three wines from each country/region of the world. I tried the Spanish Flight and the House Flight, and my friend tried to Metro Flight and Portuguese Flight. My favorite wines of the day were the Silver Spring Red and the House Rosé. I wish I could've bought a bottle but they were a little pricey. I cannot wait to come back to try more wines and food. The cheese plates looked amazing. Overall, Urban Winery is a MUST TRY!

Bernard R.

Yelp
A friend recommend this place... turned out to be an amazing vibe. Friendly staff; I didn't know what wine I wanted to drink, so the bartender gave me a few wines to taste and in moments I was drinking the best wine of my life!!!! Average noise, but mainly people conversing with one another, or on their phones like me writing a review. Definitely a great place to bring a special friend :)

Yelp
Urban winery is an elegant, yet relaxed and fun place to enjoy an evening out with friends or family. This trendy spot offers wines made from locally sourced grapes and mouthwatering food to perfectly with your drink of choice. Part of what makes the Urban Winery experience so unique, is finding it nestled among industrial buildings and warehouses (look for the sign!). Once you find it, there's ample parking. It's a family-owned and run business with the owners and family regularly there interacting with customers and coordinating wine tastings. They are nice people with a passion for making wine that goes back generations. There's a broad selection of wines made from local grapes, each with its own unique flavor and aroma. The blackberry cabernet tasted like the name, bursting with blackberry flavor! Sample wines with flights or choose a bottle to enjoy with your meal. They also offer a large selection of beer and cocktails. The Elderberry-St. Germaine cocktail, for example, was so delicious and memorable, I'll be sure to order it again during my next visit. The food is equally impressive, featuring meze that complement the wines. Whether you're in the mood for a cheese board or something heartier, you'll find something to satisfy your taste buds at Urban Winery. The menu seems limited at first glance, but visitors soon learn that the appetizer choices are plentiful, the cheese plate loaded with delicious options, and the specialty themed food adds creativity and surprise to the menu. The lamb chops are tender and juicy and the chicken souvlaki served on Greek night was soft, juicy, and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and chic, with exposed brick walls, wooden tables, and soft lighting. The wide variety of live music and events keep things lively and fun. Urban Winery also has a beautiful, cozy, private patio in the back, where you can enjoy live music when the weather is nice. We especially enjoyed the Greek Night because the beautiful music combined with the lovingly decorated patio made us feel like we were in a real Greek Taverna. Urban Winery is not just a restaurant, it's a destination. Don't miss this hidden gem in the city!

Yelp
A friend who knows the way to my heart steered me here on a lovely Sunday afternoon and I could not be more thrilled at this recent discovery, right off of a side street in the heart of Silver Spring! Such wonderfully friendly staff, and an amazing procurement of wines by the glass, bottle, and by the flight! I was living my best life when I stopped in here for a flight - that quickly turned into a longer visit. You will not be sad for coming here, I almost do not want to share I really enjoyed it so much! The seating is ample while still maintaining a very homey and intimate feel. No reservations are required, and based on my impromptu visit I am guessing they can accommodate most party sizes. They also have a wall where it seems they host events on a regular basis per month. Their small bites section of the menu looked absolutely delicious, and while we stuck to the "chef's choice" of 2 cheese or charcuterie options, we were mouth agape at some of the things we saw others ordering (meatballs, delicious macaroni, etc). In regard to our "chef's choice" order, for $15 we had one of the larger charcuterie boards I have seen in the DMV in quite some time. My little wine loving heart was overfilled! Now back to the wine: they have their menu broken down by sections - the wines that Urban Winery produces (Eastern Shore grapes), the wines they source from elsewhere in Maryland, and then a Global Wine section. I was absolutely in love with a Cab Franc and a Barbera that was part of their "Maryland Flight" tasting. And at $15 a flight I felt good about what I was able to taste! Their wine selections are diverse enough to please I am sure almost any palate, and most importantly their staff are friendly and knowledgeable enough to steer you toward something you will enjoy if you have questions or hesitations. I honestly cannot wait to come back and will be making this a regular rotation on my date night!

Libby F.

Yelp
The Urban Winery has some really unique flavored wines such as White cranberry Pinot Gris and Blueberry Pinot Noir. Both are really great. They have some light bites. I didn't love the avocado toast, but the cheese plate is nice. You get to choose your cheeses from a pretty good selection. I've sat at the bar each time I've been here. The gal tending is very nice and knowledgeable about the wines. They do have a happy hour, but it's not much more than a buck or two off select glasses of wine (usually two to choose from). They have a ladies night, but not sure what night it is, but pretty much like an extended happy hour. Also, if you post something on Twitter or Instagram and show the bartender you'll get 10% off your bill.

Matthew F.

Yelp
The Urban Winery lives up to its name. They make their own wine so it earns its place as a winery, although it feels like any other urban wine tasting bar. They source their grapes from lots of places; preferably local, but California when necessary. I found this place on a wine app, so I decided to check them out and try what they have to offer. The menu has a selection of craft beer & wine, including several of their own vintages. But I was happy to see that many of the wines they serve are also from Maryland, accompanied by US and overseas labels. I had a flight of 3 wines, all from their brand. Unfortunately I may have visited a month too early, since they had several reds 'coming soon' that I would have loved to try! 2015 Syrah: Favorite; I think California grapes. 2015 Philotimo: Red blend with blackberry notes. I don't recall the grapes used. 2014 Chardonnay (steel): Lemongrass notes, not super crisp like some but I liked it.

Emily D.

Yelp
This is a unique spot in Silver Spring. They make their own wine, have classes, and offer live music and other weekly events. I enjoyed the Greek flight. The food looked great, but we had already eaten. I enjoyed the variety and quality of the wine, but it wasn't such an exhaustive list that you were overwhelmed. The service was friendly and helpful with suggestions. The bathroom had a pretty mural of Mykonos. I loved all of the little touches.

VaSeana M.

Yelp
First time visit was awesome. Small and intimate setting inside. COVID friendly with tables 6 feet apart. The staff and owner were so friendly, personable, and knowledgeable of the wines. It was MD restaurant week so we ordered a bottle of Chardonnay, a charcuterie with one meat and cheese, and then a meat lovers plate with lamb chops, meatballs, pita chips, and tzatziki sauce for only $60 for two people. I can't wait to go back.

Jordyn T.

Yelp
This is my second visit and I will return again. Great atmosphere and service. My waiter from both visits were very nice and patient. My first waiter even remembered me when I came back this time. I highly recommend a flight of wine on your first visit to taste the offerings. Great amount of offerings as well. My favorite food so far is the lamb lollipops. AMAZING. Prices are about average for a winery in the MD/DC area. The negatives are - Parking - Kitchen speed.- During both of my visits part of my food order came out at a significantly late time. - Avocado toast- it is not fresh cut/smashed avocado. It tasted like day old store bought guacamole. - The shrimp Mac was good but only had one real shrimp. The rest were micro frozen shrimp. Overall I'd give it a 3.5-4. I definitely recommend a visit.

Donyiel C.

Yelp
I've been a here a few times and almost forgot about it until recently. This is a very cozy, casual spot perfect for date night! I stopped by with a friend to grab a glass of wine and it was very nice. I tried their cranberry malbec but was not a fan at all, so I opted for one of the South African wines and was pleased with that choice! They have happy hour specials Monday to Friday : )

Julie N.

Yelp
The tazicki sauce is prepared fresh, very nice. Other than that, most items obviously come from a can or jar. The wine experience is expensive but you'll find some unique wine. Unfortunately the amount of kids running around the "lunchroom tables" creates a chucky cheese environment. The staff is wonderful but dressed in ugly grey polo shirts. Annie E. Is the absolute best! Not good for a romantic dinner.

Johari B.

Yelp
Amazing time! My best friend and I went here on a girls date and we had a blast! It's very aesthetically pleasing in the inside. The decor and atmosphere is great. Our waitress was absolutely great as well. I don't remember her name but she had white hair and glasses. She knew a lot about the wine and gave us great recommendations. Also, did I mention we went during COVID? We went in November of 2020 and they were compliant with covid guidelines. This enhanced my dining experience for sure. Lastly, the food was really good. We had the lamb lollipops.

April P.

Yelp
9-26-2020.... My best friend introduced me to this place on a nice Saturday weekend. It was soo nice inside cherry blossoms at the doorway with a wine barrel was pretty cool. I appreciate that someone greeted us immediately as we walked in instead of waiting around and not being Acknowledged like other places I've been to . I love the fact that they were covid safe in every way!.! I'm high risk with high anxiety so that made me feel calm and safe because I'm not one to go out and make too many moves during this pandemic. The tables were six feet apart, masks were on so definitely if you want a drink and somewhere not overly packed come here!!!. The lady waiting on us was genuinely nice, she told us things we didn't know about the place very engaging in conversation we all talked about pairings and recipes which was pretty awesome I'm even trying one soon!!. I totally loved how the really nice bar lit up different colors over the wine that was incased in the display window. The music wasn't loud it was hearable but mellowed down but you could still sing along if you knew the song playing. Everything was set up so neatly you definitely MUST reserve for wine tastings as well, the flights were a decent pour for $15 bucks the tastes were fresh and ripe as a fruit!!. Anyways this place is awesome for lunch, dinner or just to sip with your friends!!! Without being elbow to elbow in discomfort!! Thank You Urban Winery for MY first time experience I will definitely be returning!!.

Christian G.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place. I want to start off by saying that. It has all the ingredients to be exactly what one is looking for when doing out for a good time. They had live music, several wine flights, food, and style. The chocolate cake there is worth getting if you have a sweet tooth! As far as the flight, I went with the wines that were made by Urban Winery. I was not super impressed with the wines I tried but the bartender was fantastic. Next time I will definitely order different but a great place to visit overall!

Kerri C.

Yelp
I've been going to The Urban Winery since they first opened. The atmosphere inside is great, but they also have a handful of tables outside that you can choose from. My favorite wine is the blueberry one from the metro series; also delicious is the white cranberry. I recommend when you go to do a flight of the fruit wines. They are all wonderful.

Donna Y.

Yelp
Excellent service, amazing food and great wines here. Parking is a little hard to find but weekends are free.

Kassity L.

Yelp
We've come here a few times for their wine, and I've always been slightly disappointed in the quality of the wine. The place has a nice interior, and offers a good variety of small plates to go with their wine. I've really liked their food, including their charcuterie (which comes with a lot of side items including dried dates and sauces), the avocado bread, and their flatbreads. The wine, however, has not impressed. I've tried their fruit blended wines as well as most of their reds. Most of the wine is very light bodied and plain tasting, without any interesting notes. The fruit blended wines taste like cheap sweet wine. And most of the reds have a weak, young fruit, taste. Service is hit or miss. When they're not busy, the servers are usually very attentive, but when they get busy, you could be waiting for awhile before someone checks in with you, which makes it slow to order additional drinks.

Carley M.

Yelp
Such a cute little place! I wish they had a rooftop bar but its still a nice little gem. We went here for a bday. I reserved space for our group but the dinner drinks knocked 70% of them down. When we got to the winery i explained and they were really nice about it. The service was great. The cheese trays are well worth the price and the staff will make great recs. I had the strawberry merlot too omg it was so good. We will be back!

Joanna C.

Yelp
An AWSOME team. Delivered my Mother's Day gift ordered from my daughter in NY. Package was presented beautifully with distancing observed. Wine was an excellent addition to dinner that night. Still our favorite, local stop. Can't wait to enjoy your eats and "CHEERS" ambiance again ...soon. Joanna

Mica J.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience. The best of the best Merlot---a house bourbon-barrel finish--no less! Loved it! We met owners Damon & Georgia, great people, who were exhausted from hosting a wine tasting all day but still found time to meet & chat with us at closing time. Our servers Dan & Lynn were great too. It was our first visit & Dan had excellent recommendations for wine & snacks. Oh and the music was on point, from start to finish!! If you get chance go to this place! Great vibe for wine with friends!!

Rebecca G.

Yelp
Yup yup this shit is LOVELY. I have been there a few times now and each visit was a great experience. The staff is eager to help you select the perfect wine. If you have trouble deciding I recommend having the Wine Flight and letting the staff select for you (based on your tastes of course). There are many small plates to choose from as well as fantastic happy hour specials. A great date night spot, a place to meet up with friends and colleges and even a place to work out your brain on Wednesday trivia night.

Yelp
Im so happy I found such a cute and fun winery near where I live and work! This winery is a hidden gem and I would recommend this place if you are looking for a place to drink wine and chat with friends. The workers are so friendly and they make their own wines. I love sweet wines and they make some really great ones. My favorite was the strawberry and white cranberry. My roommate and I got the flight of wine and we tried all their sweet wines and ended up getting two bottles to drink later. They also have some great food options. We shared a cheese and meat board and it was perfect with the wine. They have other food options too. I would go back to eat other things on the menu. They have different themed nights. On Mondays, they are closed. On Tuesday, they have 10 dollar flight nights. They have a trivia night, ladies night and other events throughout the month. It is such a fun and cute place to go to!

Yelp
I stopped at Urban winery on a Sunday afternoon. The parking was a little confusing but the location of the winery is easy to find! The inside is small but decorated very nicely. I was greeted as soon as I had walked in. I decided to go with a tasting of 3, 2 whites and a red. The flights are a little pricey compared to some other wineries but the wine is very good! I also got a glass of wine after the tasting as well which was moderately priced at $10.

Yelp
I walked in on a Wednesday evening and was impressed! I've been here 3 times and I've only had wine inside once. The beers they have on tap are tasteful and unique. Great beer at a winery is a good sign that the owners have excellent taste. I ordered an IPA local to MD and tried the Irish cheese plate. The cheese board had everything one would want to pair with cheese and it went perfectly with my IPA. All for a steal at $7! Next time I'm here, I plan to try a wine flight and adding meats to my cheese board. All of the cheese boards are served with marcona almonds, dates, dried fruit, figs, breads, crackers, and more! Trivia on Wednesday nights too. There are specials all night on Wednesday: $5 beer and wines.

Yelp
A quaint, locally owned winery in the middle of Silver Spring with a delicious assortment of wines, beers, and cheese plates. Urban winery offers an intimate setting where you can catch up with a friend, sip some fine wine, and nibble on some cheese noms from a delicately arranged charcuterie board. The cheese plates are so beautiful you won't want to eat them, at least not without taking photos first. ;) A word of caution: I'd recommend this place for light fare, but NOT if you're hungry. I found the entrees delicious but not very filling. I was still hungry after my pulled pork sandwich and my friends flatbread pizza seemed small.

Yelp
What a wonderful winery and tasting room. My husband surprised me with the winemaking experience as a Christmas gift. We made our wine, I designed my label, and then bottled it all up. It was so much fun, we learned a ton, and Georgia, Damon, and Zoe are amazing. Besides the winemaking experience we have been to Urban Winery for music and yoga events, and wine tasting. We love how we feel so welcome and family.

Yelp
Really liked the South African flight! Got the lamb lollipop and the Greek meatballs to share. The lamb was perfectly tender. For the price paid, the quantity and quality were rather mediocre- decent but not amazing.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere but not the place to go on New Year's Eve. Felt like outsiders at a private party, (of staff's families and friends), that we paid $100 unknowingly to join. Children that were present, the whole night. took away any "after hours grown ups vibe" that most seek for bringing in the New Year. If you have kids and don't want to pay for a babysitter you can bring them here with you on New Year's Eve! Appetizers, singer and all the rest did not equal the $100 we paid. Place was pretty cramped and not easy to walk around in. This is a nice casual spot to go to- just not for New Year's Eve. Would definitely return on an regular night for a glass of their Strawberry Rose. It was yummy! Wish we could get a refund on the amount we paid minus alcohol or a credit towards their wine.

Yelp
I was visiting from Boston some family and wanted to explore locally from where I was staying at and discovered this place. They have a friendly staff. I totally forgot her name but in conversation do remember she was originally from Houston, Texas. Got the Greek meat balls pita and flights of red wine and it was a great pairing. They also have some beers available. I became a fan and in my future visit will pay a visit again

Yelp
Walked in and sat down at the bar to a very busy staff. The environment is very pleasant and romantic but I felt forced to have to be acknowledged and ask for a menu after waiting awhile. Soon after I was acknowledged with a glass of water. They make their own wines which I confirmed are only available on location but do offer at several wine festivals. It would be nice to know if they offer tours. The avocado toast was delicious with a little residual heat but again had to ask staff for a napkin. The Maryland wine selectiom is vey limited on white wine choices but the Silver Spring White was semi-dry and really enjoyed following the recommended pairing on the menu with the toast. I also ordered the wings and was pleasantly surprised with even a little more spice due to the single line drapped over the "spiced chicken wings" with siraracha. I overheard usually they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights but tonight no one would be performing. I was shocked to have the menu taken away to not be able to see future wine choice. There are four beer on tap when writing this review but could support a total of six based on their taps. While sitting here awhile I discovered they do have free wifi but there isn't any history or mission decription about what inspired the owners to start the business. I asked and was told they were open three years but it would be a nice touch on the menu to provide this information. Overall the place is above average but could work on a few things to be even better. Staff were talking and mentioned they were running out of wine glasses which seems a little shocking with the place only half full. The winery seems a little confused on what it wants to be with the wood, brick then dark brown painted cinder block along the bar and restaurant. Will definitely be returning and hopefully my next experience is a little better.

Yelp
I'm honestly surprised more people haven't reviewed this place. My boyfriend and I went here last night and had a fantastic evening. The place was quiet, but still busy. It was nice to find a place to sit and enjoy one another without having to try to shout over blaring music or tvs. We had two appetizers and two charcuterie plates - more than enough food. The staff was extremely friendly and gave great suggestions on items to try. The wines were great! They let us try a few of them before we settled on which ones we wanted to drink for the night. Very much appreciated. We will be back soon for another date night. We can't wait to try one of their wine making classes!

Yelp
While the ambiance is great, the service and wine was below par. My spouse and I popped in for what we thought would be a quick glass of wine, and we ended up staying much longer than we had hoped because the service was so slow. We both ordered the 5 tastings, thinking that because it was pretty empty at the time the service would be quick. Unfortunately, to taste 5 different wines we sat there for an hour plus continually waiting for our waitress to come back. We really enjoyed the oaked Chardonnay, but the rest weren't very good. We most likely will not be going back any time soon.

Yelp
I've passed the Urban Winery so many times and it wasn't until a friend invited me to go for board night that I went in. There weren't many people when I went but it started to get busier the closer it got to the board game start time. The server and server in training were very attentive and helped us pick what we wanted. I decided to go with the $10 special flight and it was really good. I like to drink wine and I'm not too picky about what it is so it was nice for someone to know something about the wine I'm choosing. Board night was a lot fun and there was a good crowd. They also had 10% off your bill if you tagged them on social media which I def. took advantage of. I'll definitely come by again, it's a neat spot in SS!

Yelp
The wine is pretty good. Not a great selection of food though but a nice ambience and good service.

Yelp
This place is a fresh new alternative to the ever evolving downtown Silver Spring. An easy walk from the Wayne Street garage (free on weekends) to Bonifant street - just loop around the beautiful new Silver Spring Library and take a short walk up the street, past all of the little Thai places. I love the reclaimed wood throughout and the intimate, comfortable atmosphere. It's not too loud, and you never feel rushed, so feel free to sit and sip and chat and nibble. We started with the dipping oils, which was nice, but I would replace the toasted bread rounds with fresh soft bread that would be easier to dip. Then we moved to the prosciutto platter (with deParma) and the gouda plate. Both were very nice, but I would skip or reduce the amount of sweet dried dates, dried cranberries, dried apricots, and jam, and amp up the savory mustard, cornichons, olives, and perhaps add some fresh herbs or greens of some sort. Seedless grapes, please, if you are going to include them. Spitting out seeds is not so romantic, IMO. The fresh out of the box crackers should be replaced with fresh bread. My husband did enjoy the raisin bread slices with gouda, but it just wasn't my thing. EXCELLENT service! Nice wine - we loved the Philotimo, but would save the Chardonnay for summer time.
