"I saw a Facebook commenter suggest delivering to the Veggie Bin, and D’Allesandro’s responded that they would get to it that day." - Erin Perkins

Very local clean and comfy fresh produce good prices but you gotta shop. Also directed me to where I could get some stuff they didn't have. Nice folks

Always a positive vibe and nice fresh veggies. The mushrooms are especially good with a nice selection. They also carry local snacks and finely curated products. A must!

I have been shopping at the store for over five years, the guy that works there is usually is so nice. Last week I had an experience where I was overcharged by a few dollars. The cashier was very dismissive and put off by me requesting a refund. She told me that the manager would take care of it after a week of waiting , I finally called, no one called me back.. so went into the store today. The manager was very cold towards me, she was put off and never apologize for anything… nope, just cold and dismissive, as I was getting ready to purchase some items she told me that they don’t refunds so that what I was purchasing, a salad and tomato there was no charge.. She then said it would’ve been a few cents more but she was going to let it go. I found that to be very condescending, again just gave me my things and no warm and fuzzy anything. This experience was very disheartening because I live around the corner and I loved shopping there.. With this economy and everything so expensive a few dollars is a few dollars. I shouldn’t have made to feel shameful for asking for a refund when I was overcharged to begin with. I work for a major grocery chain and I would never treat a customer like that.

Visiting from Boston, we stopped by the Veggie Bin and asked the clerk for local recommendations. Later, as we passed by, we saw her closing up—and to our surprise, she had handwritten two pages of must-see spots, complete with thoughtful details on why we’d love them. Her suggestions were absolutely spot on! Thanks to her, we discovered incredible hidden gems we never would have found on our own. She truly made our trip unforgettable! I even laminated her list to share with anyone heading to Charleston. Stop by the Veggie Bin—the produce is amazing, and the staff is even better!

Excellent customer service and good apples. Jules is the best employee/soon-to-be owner.

2 times in ONE week people have hosted the mushroom bros and both times my order has been cancelled on Too good to Go. Figure it out or drop them as a client bc they're screwing you 100% Aside from that, the dude with the beard is awkward, and the prices are high, not that I mind, but just fyi

Small grocery store with selection of veggies, homemade breads, locally roasted coffees, common spices, fruits, fresh pasta, local meats (in the freezer section), etc. TERRIFIC fresh pasta (made by Rio Bertolini's in Charleston) in the refrigerated section! We drive 45 mins. one-way to pick up 5 or so tubs of these about every other week. They last a few weeks in our refrigerator, and are very easy to make. They are all delicious! They have a good selection, too: spaghetti, linguine, pappardelle, ravioli, gnocchi (spinach, sweet potato, fresh ricotta, etc.), even ramen. Instructions on the tubs tell you to cook the pasta in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. But when we make them, we simply put one bunch (there are two in one container) in a bowl. Pour boiling water over it. Let it stand for about a minute depending on how firm you like your pasta. That's it -- you're done. Just pour your favorite pasta sauce over it.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood enjoying some Crafting fun across the street & noticed this Great little store. Very friendly & helpful young lady who enjoys some therapeutic crocheting! Nice looking veggies. I picked up some oyster mushrooms and Lions main. The Spinach and baby Arugula was so FRESH looking. Can't wait to try sautéed shrooms & spinach with pasta topped with Arugula and sprinkling of grated cheese. I also picked up some interesting beverages. Definitely on my return list!

Yelp
Absolute worst experience. Walked in with my sons to get something for their mom, who is Vegan. Store was packed. We said let's get takeout from pink cactus next door and walk back in when it's not so crowded. The girl in the shop was rude and clearly heard us say that. She could have told us, hey we are in a battle with pink cactus and you're about to be an innocent bystander in that battle. She called tow truck and I went to my car and got in before the tow truck could hook up to my vehicle. Literally at the same time we were walking back into veggie bin to do some shopping, was when the tow truck was pulling back to hook up to my vehicle. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! I got in my car and left and was thankful I wasn't hit with a $500+ tow bill and didn't get stranded with my kids. I get the limited parking, but we were parked there for 15 minutes. Clearly the chick in the veggie bin is just working there to sniff out who she can tow next. What a joke of a store and a giant joke of an employee. Get a life.

Yelp
I noticed this store walking down Spring street and popped in to see what it was all about. This is a healthy convenience store that sells fresh vegetables(a lot locally grown). They sell all sorts of milk and a variety of cheeses . They even sell several nonalcoholic beer options. Cool store.

Yelp
Thanks to EW, she told me about the Veggie Bin on Instagram. I started following them and saw all of the great local veggies they carry, and jumped in the car Saturday afternoon and headed downtown. It's a small, what appears to be, an old quicky mart. The guy working was friendly and let me know they were already out of the beautiful purple cauliflower I had seen a couple days before on Instagram. I really wanted to get some but was able to get the yellow instead. I also was excited to get local watermelon radishes, local rainbow carrots, and heirloom tomatoes. I used some of everything I bought and it was all fresh and yummy. A couple of pro tips: if you carry a big purse, put it in the trunk of your car before you go in. The rows are tight. I ended up knocking a bottle of sauce off a shelf grabbing a bag to put veggies in. It didn't break, but it scared the heck out of me!!! And if you have your own cloth shopping bag, bring that in with you. It's definitely a store that wants to help do our part to save the planet!!

Yelp
Five stars...y'all...people and product. Spoke with owner on the phone because I needed a refill of my Big Kick Coffee. Super friendly and helpful. Picked up one of my favorites, Breakfast Blend and wanted to try the Jamaican me crazy flavored and it smells awesome...owner ground it for me so I didn't have to flavor my grinder...can't wait to brew it up. You can also get the coffee at the Charleston open air market. No visit to Charleston is complete without picking up a few pounds of Big Kick to take hone with you. They also have a great selection of fresh produce but to be honest we totally went for the coffee...Cheers!

Yelp
Solid okay. Overpriced, but a decent assortment of veggies and snack foods. The worker couldn't bother looking up from his book to greet or thank us and just did so when it was time to check out, so the vibe was not great. I would not go out of my to return but if there was a snap pea urgent situation would go back.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Great selection, competitive prices, many things locally grown, and the store itself is locally owned, it's not some big box grocery megacorp. Owner and employees are cool too. I need to remember to come here for beer and such, lots of good local options that aren't worldwide conglomerate megacorp beverage companies

Yelp
I would ordinarily have frequented a place with this name and orientation. However, I had a terrible experience with the owner (?) yesterday. A brunette woman was super-rude to me when she asked if I was there for their store at closing time. I was not; it was the only apparent parking for The Pink Cactus, to its Left. I thought it all strange. I had to run in the Pink Cactus for a few minutes. She went on to tell me NOT to park in Veggie Bin's parking lot, even after it was closed. Super unprofessional and belligerently rude, I implore you and all my many friends not to support the Veggie Bin.

Yelp
A small one-room store with specialty food items. I came in search of sea beans; apparently some seaweed is farmed locally. I found one or two other things, but there wasn't a ton that was worth buying for me. Even if I were local, it seems like a place I would only come to for small-niche things I couldn't get elsewhere. It was pricey as one might expect.

Yelp
I happened upon this little gem of a greengrocer's right next door to Pink Cactus. Parking conveniently allocated right outside the door. What a fabulous find. I bought all my fresh organic vegetables for the week here. They also have coffee beans with a grinder, fresh breads, oils, butter etc. I'm sure the people who live in this neighborhood downtown are very happy to have this shop nearby. It's perfect for those items "forgot" at the grocery store. I just love supporting local and the prices are very fair. The staff today super helpful and appreciative that I stopped in. They also have bins full of beans and lentils. It's definitely a stop to make do that you can complete dinner at home without having to run to the large grocery store. Pop in here when in the neighborhood and you will be hooked!!

Yelp
Great little grocery and veggie market. A really nice couple own and operate it. One nice thing is that they have good wine- a real cut above what the other corner grocery shops offer. Happy it is in my neighborhood.

Brittany G.

Yelp
Awesome local family ran business! Everyone should give this place a shot and check out their fresh local produce and products and the awesome variety of beers and wine! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We're so grateful to live in a neighborhood with a place like the Veggie Bin. We do 99% of our weekly grocery shopping there and it's perfect for picking up wine and cheese for happy hour and supporting SC farms for produce and meat. I wish every Charleston neighborhood had a Veggie Bin!

Yelp
Convenient stop for fresh, local produce and other grocery items. Fresh bread and baked goods are typically available along with greens, squash, avocados...pretty much whatever you've run out of and you're like "oh crap Rite Aid doesn't sell that". They have bulk bins, frozen food (including King of Pups!), olive oil, etc...basically items to expect in a hipster bodega (a good thing in my book). The staff is always friendly and helpful and parking is usually available in their lot.

Yelp
Such a lovely little shop! They have a great selection of organic and local produce. Lovely people. Support local business people!

Yelp
I love this place. I have pretty much stopped buying my vegetables and fruit from the bi lo and only buy from the veggie bin. The prices are cheap and the vegetables are fresh. Also- the people who work here are super friendly as well. For example, today I went and got an onion, a jalapeno, a red pepper and a green pepper for $2.69. I mean come on! You cant beat that. At any other grocery store the onion alone would be around $2.00 They also have a small selection of pastas and pasta and pasta sauces that look amazing. I haven't tried those yet but I'm sure I will in the near future. This has been a great addition the the neighborhood and I highly recommend checking this place out and picking up some fruits and veggies while you're here!

Yelp
My go-to spot for local eggs. And good local produce. If you are a coffee geek they have some pretty rare bean

Emilia O.

Yelp
I love the veggie bin and everything that they stand for, but I have repeatedly been treated very rudely by one of the employees. While they have a great selection, be ready to have a potentially nasty interaction. This is unfortunate because otherwise, I would give the business 5 stars!
google avatar

Yelp
It has pretty much all you could want from a small bulk store, grainds, vegetables, fruits, cheese, beans. Seriously will be shopping here every time.

Yelp
The Veggie Bin is a must for Charleston. With all of the fried food selections it was nice to see a healthy store. They had a small selection of snacks, meats and cheeses along with the vegetables and fruits. The selection was better than any corner store if you wanted to pick up a couple of things. The vegetables and fruits were market value and not overpriced. The people that work here were friendly and helped me pick out the few items I needed.

Julia B.

Yelp
Super cute, local, small grocery. Great prices unlike most small groceries. They don't have everything, so I won't go every week, but definitely about every other week! Lots of local options. Cute atmosphere too. They also have a rewards program which I love!

Peyton M.

Yelp
Best priced and quality produce. Not a huge selection in terms of meat and produce but thats not necessarily a factor. Veggie bin has lots of local options too. I use their punchcard and I swear that discount is a high lol! Im frugal, care about shopping local, and dont necessarily enjoy trips to grocery stores besides the this one, where i look forward to shopping!

Yelp
We were excited to check out what looked like a fun local shop, but didn't even manage to get in the door before being treated rudely by staff. Parking there is reserved for customers of the veggie bin only, but there is another business right next door sharing the same lot. Anyways, we parked, walked a few feet towards the other business just to see what it was, and were about to go in the veggie bin when a woman came out and informed us with a pretty nasty tone that we couldn't park there/parking was reserved for their customers only. We'd been there literally less than thirty seconds, and left after the way we were spoken to without bothering to go in. Try treating potential customers with respect (or just basic decency), and maybe they'll stick around.

Brendan C.

Yelp
Limited selection but some nice produce and local supplies if you need them. Has some ready to go spices, affordable produce, dairy and bulk nuts, oats and beans in small supply. Wouldn't shop here for my main grocery run but good for supplemental.

Yelp
We have needed a decent grocery in this area for a long time. Friendly and helpful staff, fresh, healthy, and convenient. They have a selection of local and organic goods that changes with the season and prices are reasonable. I love that they stock more than just veggies. .. milk, sour cream, bread... little conveniences that are nice to have close to home. I'm super happy to have them in the neighborhood.
