"Life is a cabaret at this jazz club and restaurant in Alpharetta. Listen to jazz performed by local musicians in an intimate space while dining on everything from flatbread pizzas, pan-seared salmon, and charcuterie boards to steak frites, lump crab cakes, and freshly made desserts by chef and owner Tamara Fuller. There’s even open mic nights at the Velvet Note. Reservations required." - Beth McKibben

Wonderful place for a date night! The band was phenomenal!! The food was good! The only thing we would’ve changed was that the waitresses were dressed inappropriately to the point that my husband and I were uncomfortable.

Google
Music-wise it was a great experience. Sound was excellent and atmosphere was super cozy. Now the food was good but expensive for what it is (especially when your $39 ribeye is served on a plastic plate with plastic cutlery). A/C was somehow not working (enough) for that super hot day. Don’t get me wrong, we will certainly return but just for the drinks and the music.

My first time there to see Doug Carn. The acoustics were excellent, and the food was good. I had the vegi lasagna. The best jazz room that I have been in since I moved south.

Google
Lavahi was great, beautiful voice! The food, not so great. We ordered scallops and two crab cakes. Everything was too salty. The crab cakes were less like Maryland lump crab as advertised and more like croquettes with lots of breading or filling. The three scallops were overcooked, salty, and each was a bit larger than a nickel coin! Drinks were just okay. The air conditioner had malfunctioned so it was a bit too warm. Customer service was excellent though!

Google
What an amazing, cozy, intimate space! Literally feet away from fantastic musicians and performers. We even saw Larry Carlton here last Fall. Food is good. Drinks are great. Servers are efficient and stealthy during performances. I can't recommend this joint enough. Find a show, get tickets, grab a drink and something to munch on, and enjoy the show. You will be impressed.

Came here on a double date while visiting our best friends in Atlanta. We loved the intimate setting. Food was limited but drinks were good albeit pricey. Service was friendly and the crowd was inviting. Great place to sit back have some appetizers, drinks some cocktails and listen to some local talent play and sing.

Got the chance to hang out with my friend Joey Sommerville at this wonderful intimate jazz club. Great food, and amazing music. We had hot fun in the summertime! I highly recommend this place for date night, girls' night, or anyone who loves live music. It's is like having live music in your living room!!

Yelp
The best crab cakes ever!!! And I have had them every restI have ever visited!!! Yummmm

Yelp
Lovely music and atmosphere north of the city. Location and Parking Located in Alpharetta, plenty of free parking is available. Venue and Atmosphere Velvet Note bills itself as an intimate venue, and they are correct: it feels as if you've entered someone's living room. There are tables, couches, and chairs in every nook and cranny, including a row of chairs and tables along the wall leading to the kitchen (behind a curtain). Yet the space never feels crowded and there is indeed enough legroom for all guests to relax. There are no bad seats, and the music isn't too loud. Service and Performances Beverage Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. The drinks themselves were not the best, but that's not what we are here for. The performers and musicians were true professionals, delivering song after song with immersive instrumentation and the famous jazz ad-libs. After the show, we spoke briefly with the headliners and musicians, who are just as personable off stage. Verdict I would definitely return for another performance.

Yelp
Food, Music, and Vibe. I went to this spot to just switch it up and I was pleasantly surprised . I had a great meal with great service and great music. The dark living room feel is just right for the music it was delivering while I ate the vegan lasagna not the best but it was an option . The music was very stellar and I liked how they weren't holding back in their second show of the night . I truly enjoyed it . A must go for great jazz music and great service and vibes with jazz greats also playing some of the greats

Yelp
Cozy Environment. Owner is very personable, and staff was very attentive. I recommend this location for live music.

Yelp
Such an awesome time. The jazz was on pointe! The place was intimate and the acoustics are great!

Yelp
Good service and ambiance was great as usual. The performance was top of the class. Ellen's vocals and the band was the best.

Yelp
I came here twice. Once on the 19th and then once on the 26th and I'm definitely a fan. The Velvet note has been on my list to go to for such a long time and I just haven't had a chance to go. Finally during the holidays I thought that it would be a great time to see what the Velvet note was offering. I wasn't disappointed. Getting tickets is super easy from their website and so for both showings I bought it ahead of time. Both shows were great though. The one on the 19th was a lot busier than the 26th but both of the shows were very enjoyable. It seems that for both shows had two showings, so usually is the shows are about an hour and a half. If you're looking for an hour and a half show and something that won't dominate your night this should definitely be on your list and is a perfect after dinner date. I didn't eat here, but I did have drinks and it was alright. The space is a bit tight in busier showings, keep that in mind especially because of COVID and now the new variant. Overall, Velvet note is awesome and will definitely recommend on a relatively empty night or whenever the pandemic is really over...but when is it and we're going to have to live eventually right?

Eschwing8390 S.

Yelp
OMG, Tom Glynn at the Velvet Note tonight. Acoustic performance of music by James Taylor, Paul Simon, and Jim Croce. If you missed it, watch for him to come back later in 2024. We'll definitely go again. Freakin' awesome.

Derrick D.

Yelp
Nice and cozy place. The seafood pasta was delicious. The music was the best! I enjoyed every minute.

Yelp
Good Lord!! If you like live music and fabulous food you MUST visit this venue!!! I was blown away right away!! Very cozy and super friendly staff..Great music (Steely Dan), but I had the most amazing dinner that evening!! Perfectly prepared Filet with shrimp and braised veggies and a delightful salad!! All I can say is like Sex in my Mouth ! Many props to Chef Michael, who was also kind enough to do a personal table visit ( even though they were packed)... Congrats and thank you for a splendid evening!! It is now my favorite dinner venue as well!!! Love Love Love Theresa L

Yelp
My husband and I were celebrating our one year anniversary. He found The Velvet Note online and was very impressed that this was a Black-owned business with an awesome chef. We were eager to drive up from Savannah to enjoy a night of Live Jazz. My husband called the week before our reservation to ensure that everything was confirmed and that we were on the paid list of guests. He was assured that everything was set and we should arrive at 7pm and the show would start at 8pm sharp. We did arrive at the establishment, only to be told that we didn't have a table and that the empty tables were "reserved for parties of three or more." Why weren't we told this information when we called? We were shown two seats at the very front of the venue, in a very cramped space, with a table just big enough to hold my purse. As if this weren't bad enough, the table was positioned directly across within two feet of the drums! There was no way I was going to endure two hours next to a full drum set connected to a powerful amplifier. We'd both be stone deaf before the night was through! My husband asked the gentleman who greeted us if there were any other seats available and the young sir was kind enough to put two chairs at the back of the bar for my husband and myself. However, we would have no table. Well, I guess the option of dinner was off the table (pun intended)... unless we were going to hold our plates and eat as if we were at a backyard barbeque. Well, thank God for small favors. Its a good think that we did move our seats. Because unbeknownst to us at the time, we would have been in the direct path of the kitchen and had to endure waiters walking back and forth filling dinner orders that we couldn't partake in. Our hero for the night, the gentleman (I really wish I had caught his name) was kind enough to give us a small wooden stool so that we could at least have somewhere to sit our drinks as we enjoyed the show. With no dinner and no table we weren't too pleased with the Velvet Note. The only thing that saved this night from being a total wash was the band. Bill Hart was absolutely awesome and he definitey has one of the best bands out there! Special shout out to Randy Hoexter for the amazing job he did on the piano. We chatted with him a few minutes before the set and he was such a nice guy! I'll be looking into more of his work. I wish that I could have given this a much better review. But, my experience with this establishment wasn't a very impressive one. I recommend that the Velvet Note work on their seating arrangements. The way the tables were arranged, there was alot of wasted space that could have provided for more seating room so every guest could have a table.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and really good acoustics. Saw a show there and would go back! Didn't eat but the cocktails were good.

Yelp
Saw a great quarter jazz band last night and the entertainment was fabulous. But--- the venue was extremely hot and was inundated with smoke from frying foods in the kitchen. Couldn't wait to leave and sadly my clothes and hair smelled like a fast food restaurant. May I suggest better ventilation for the kitchen and cool the venue down. Thanks

Todd S.

Yelp
Just an amazing night. Great music, great ambiance. Food was really good! Service can be a little slow because of the show onstage but we were in no hurry!

Michel S.

Yelp
This place is great! They have a great atmosphere and the jazz just add the cherry on top. I ordered the Salmon over rice and it was very flavorful and moist. We also ordered a flat bread while it was good, it was somewhat burnt. The Jazz singer was very funny and he engaged the audience and the sound was great. The venue is very quaint which adds to the atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone. My only suggestion is to serve the meal on real plates and not plastic or plastic silverware which is why I gave it a 4 stars . (Unable to tale pictures of the food as it was dark during the show)

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Welcoming staff, incredibly talented musicians (exceptional jazz!), lovely and intimate setting, gracious owner who spoke warmly to audience post- show, very good food! There's a good chance I'll be a regularwebsite is easy to use, and prices are very fair.

Deborah L.

Yelp
The Velvet Note is a great place to listen to a live band but I can't recommend the food. It's way overpriced for what you get. The wine is too. They didn't have a lot of the wines on their wine list and I was served a Sauvignon Blanc by Hess that wasn't listed on the menu. $14 for a glass of wine that I could buy the whole bottle for that price. Just not worth it. I only went because a friend of mine was playing that night.

Scarlett L.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere. Me and my boyfriend came late, got let in for free and basically got to watch the entire show. Waitresses were nice. It's expensive, and I'm not sure what the food tastes like as I only ordered water. However, I would go back again maybe for a special occasion. People there are also nice and it's overall a good environment and time.

Destin H.

Yelp
Nice, intimate spot. great place to go on a date or something. and the bad that played during the weekend of the 6/17/22 was amazing. the food is great also. i had the salmon with fries instead of rice. it was amazing. and the waitresses are fiiiiine

Angela J.

Yelp
We love the Velvet Note! The ambiance is cozy, and all seats are great seats! I don't love the smell of food that permeates the room, but the awesome music makes it a wonderful night out!

Joy X.

Yelp
The food is 3/5 overall with an exception, the crab cakes are 4/5 (they're loaded w/crab meat & you know something tastes good when you don't even need the sauce to enhance it)! Pro Tip: Eat beforehand & stay for the drinks (recommend a bottle of wine to share)! Drinks+Food: The Mojito ($11) was the best because of how potent it was (drum roll for rum! :-D) compared to the Shirttail Sauvignon Blanc ($14), which was an okay pour (half full) and not as good tasting for the price - just took a couple sips & left remaining amount. The side of spinach ($6) was too salty - perfectly sauteed thou. The charcuterie ($14) wasn't my fav. because I expected more than just goat cheese spread, prosciutto, salami, cheese, crackers and grapes for that price. This is a smaller place, intimate & great for jazz night. The singer and 3 other musicians did a good job - mostly referencing and singing his own songs he wrote, but made tributes to Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole songs' and the impact they made on his music. We had front row seats reserved for 4 of us - really light decor on the inside. I think having one waitress made it hard to get food and drinks out in a timely fashion, waited a good 20 min. before being able to order my wine.

I J.

Yelp
It's a super small place and the waiters stepped on my feet several times. The Reason I took away a star. But the band and singers were Great! We didn't eat - only had drinks which were good.

Leon S.

Yelp
My go to jazz place, acoustics are outstanding. Feels like I'm sitting at home,, very comfortable space. Beautiful jazz folk. Service is very good for drinks, only have eaten charcuterie.

Yelp
My car looked awesome upon completion and the service was very fast. The car wash offered coffee, lemonade and snacks while I waited. I will definitely go back!

Yelp
Every time we come here, it turns out to be the most magical night. The atmosphere is phenomenal and truly one of a kind. Service is always wonderful and the food is fantastic. What makes this place so unique is the wonderful owner Ms. Fuller, who hand picks her artists and brings you a one of a kind musical performance as if it was specifically selected for you. I cannot say enough great things. This is our go-to spot for date nights, special occasions, great live music and more... Love it!

Rhonda B.

Yelp
The owner and chef Tamara Fuller has a good thing going with this listening room for live music it's quaint, secluded, sexy and just the right amount of connection between the musicians and patrons. Well Done. I haven't been here since 2015 and it was memorable then but, tonight she stepped up her game the goat cheese appetizer with crusted bread melted in my mouth as I pared it with a few glasses of a rich full bodied Malbec my entree her signature lump Crab Cakes were the best I have ever had. I will be returning again very soon. If you are in Alpharetta treat yourself to a great Friday evening at The Velvet Note. Single Ladies you will feel right @ home put on that cute outfit and go enjoy some great music, food and libations.

Shawn Marie L.

Yelp
Love this place!!! Definitely a date night spot. It's very intimate and the drinks are good. I saw an amazing saxophonist there by the name of Reggie Hines!

Denise T.

Yelp
For lovers of jazz and live music, this "acoustic living room" is a must. Cozy & designed to maximize sound quality, food is served with plastic plates & cutlery to minimize noise. Crab cakes deserve their excellent reputation, with many additional choices in the full menu. We prefer to come for drinks only, so we're not distracted by eating, and we're always warmly welcome. Please note the acoustics are excellent, so your conversation can be heard by other patrons AND the performers: this is a LISTENING venue!

Erin O.

Yelp
Reservation - told me price and then "go ahead with your credit card" No tap water offered - $3 for 500ml bottle, I didn't notice on the menu till later that they offered the smaller bottle for 2 of us and didn't mention there was a bottle twice as large for $2 more. All food served on plastic plates and plastic ware for utensils. The small entrees - Cajun shrimp pasta $20 shrimp smoothed with Cajun seasoning and heavy Alfredo sauce on angel hair Braised brisket pompadoro $22 The music was very good but definitely eat and drink before hand.

Leslie K.

Yelp
7/23/21 Fantastic show! Hope Diamond's CD release party showcased her new CD AWAKEN. The show was excellent. Hope's vocal interpretations were so well executed in her deep smokey vocals. The band was also excellent. The sound was good and seats comfortable. The cocktails were ok. The food was ok however the advertised " rack of lamb" for $32 turned out to be 2 ( yes, 2) lamb chops! When we explained we were disappointed as the menu said " rack" of lamb we were told they cook a rack of lamb , then cut two chops off. Lol. Will go back to hear music ( as understand they get good talent) however we will eat elsewhere. It was also surprising that the plates and silverware were all plastic. Since this was my first time there I don't know if that's typical or maybe they are doing it for some kind of Covid reason. If my review had only been about Hope Diamond , it would have been 5 stars.

Yelp
My husband and I can't say enough about the outstanding service, food and atmosphere at this one of a kind live Jazz Restaurant. We have been there before but wanted a nice intimate place to celebrate my husband's 70th Birthday. He had such great memories from our last visit he wanted to go back to the Velvet Note for the Jazz and gourmet food. When I checked the current menu his favorite wasn't listed. I purchased our event tickets anyway but I also called to inquire about the menu. Sure enough my husband's favorite was not on the summer menu. I was transferred to the owner, and chef. When I told her about my husband's favorite dish she cut her afternoon nap short and added her delicious New Orleans style shrimp and grits to the dinner menu. Wow! We were blown away as was the warm crowd in attendance when they heard the story. The Velvet Note made my husband's day! If you are looking for great entertainment, outstanding food and people who really care. Check them out! They set a standard that will be hard to beat!

Yelp
Had a wonderful time the first time around and coming back this weekend. Great ambiance and the owner is gracious, funny, and welcoming. Good food, good entertainment, good service, good atmosphere - what more could you ask for??

Christopher Patrick H.

Yelp
Very very very intimate atmosphere. Seats about 15-25 couples comfortably. Great acoustics. All seats are great. Saw jazz vocalist Jasmia Horn And she was great. Drink and food service seemed professional and friendly. Tickets are a bit on the high side but was worth it. The only negative for us is the location: Alpharetta exit 10 can be a bit of a drive even though we live in Sandy Springs. Would highly recommend this place though.

David G.

Yelp
Was closed when I got here at 8 pm drove a good while away to try this place out to find it not open

Pamela M.

Yelp
Soo it is with disappointment I update my review on a place I once raved about. What has happened to my quaint, classy, sophisticated, elegant jazz escape¿ It seems Tamara & crew have lost their way, ...their focus. Perhaps it was a business decision because in Georgia, good jazz spot has a hard time sustaining itself. This is how I once felt when the Whisper Room closed next door to The Fox, however part of their demise in my opinion was allowing smoking of pipes and cigars, the place was too small for that not enough room for air circulationcomma but this is not the case with the Velvet Note. What happened to the so called Board of Directors, do they not have the knowledge of jazz? Being open to other styles of entertainment is fine on occasion, but what brought the Velvet note to its highness was the wonderful ambience, and quiet format, the acoustics (which are still there). The crowd is different, the hostesses and staff are different and the overall environment is just not as mild and relaxing for an evening of good jazz. The days of Diane Schuur & Lee Ritenour seemed to have vanished and I was hopeful for Carmen Lundy but I would not imagine she would want to play here with what they're offering currently. The Velvet Note was kind of like The Last of the Mohicans and what they had to offer but that has changed and perhaps they will see a review like mine and reconsider bringing back that elegance that they once had, I miss it and probably will not return for a while until I see some changes...

Neil D.

Yelp
My fourth visit. The Velvet Note always delivers! The atmosphere, the comfortable furnishings, the sound system, the staff, the service are all excellent. The level of talent is among the best Atlanta has to offer, throw in the intimate setting and you have the makings of a special evening. The Christmas show on Saturday night was especially fun and to top it off the crab cake, sea bass and apple pie (prepared by the owner) were exceptional.

Tu K.

Yelp
This was a great place to enjoy excellent live music. The sound is awesome as are the performers. Every time I go I am amazed at the performers. I have always loved the food. However, I had a generous plate with lamb chops, crabcake and shrimp that was to die for. I was able to eat it all without guilt as it was totally carb free and so delicious. I love the place the the staff is friendly and anxious to please and proud to work there. Definitely a hot spot destination for me.

Yelp
Tonight I was surprised with a date night with friends to continue celebrating my birthday at The Velvet Room, an acoustic music lounge. It's such a cute little place so it's almost easy to miss it. It looks like a store front, connected to a plaza like area. There is plenty of parking out front, no valet needed. When you first walk in they will ask for your reservation. Because the place is so quaint, it's very limited seating so I believe reservations are necessary however if they have space they will seat you. The atmosphere is so jazzy, it has nice leather seating and sofas as if you're at a dinner party in a living room or something. The lights are dim and the feel is laid back and cool but it's also ok to dress up. The ceiling is open to allow for better acoustic sound and it looks as if stars are painted above, a very beautiful open design. The place was designed for music. Tons of people looked to be on dates or celebrating something along with a few regulars that frequent the place as well. I attended with 3 others and we were immediately greeted by David, he was dressed in a suit and very friendly and knowledgeable about the venue and menu. He suggested drinks and starters for us right away. I had a lemon drop which seems to be my go to Martini when out. He brought the drinks quickly and took our dinner orders. The host got on the mic and told us how the night works, they have a jazz band that plays music but anyone is able to request a song or come up and sing and or play their instruments with the band. It was beyond awesome to watch different pianists and guitarists brave enough to get on the stage and play jazz numbers with the band. This guy even had a harmonica. The talent was endless and I could watch all night long. A guy that looked so quiet got up and sang with the band and his voice was absolutely amazing. It was unreal how much talent was in the room among regular people. I ordered the lamb chops and smashed red potatoes and it was delicious. We ordered a bottle of red wine and a few more drinks and everything was delightful. I could listen to them play music all night long. When we were leaving we had a chance to meet the owner, Tamara and she was super sweet. She thanked us for coming and welcomed us back again. I can't wait to bring my Father in Law here. He literally carries his guitar everywhere so I know he will have a blast jumping on stage and playin a few songs with the band. I added some pics and video so be sure and check this place out. If you're looking for something low key and different to do with your loved ones this is the place it's also perfect for a date night or first date. I will be returning.

Kurt Z.

Yelp
What a cool place and so close to home! Food was amazing, (Tamara, I want you to come to our house and make the lamb and crab cakes for me and my wife!!)! My wife was born and raised in Baltimore and I lived there for a while too. We are always hesitant to order crab cakes outside of Maryland because nobody gets it right. Well, these guys nailed it!! So intimate and the music and service was great too! Just a wonderful Saturday night date!! Thank you everyone and nicely done by all!!

Kiyah G.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Velvet Note for over 7 years and I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. Perhaps I wasn't ready to share this slice of heaven with the world because that means I'd have to compete with you all for my seat in the acoustic living room. Simply put, the Velvet Note is the best jazz/live music venue in the Atlanta metro by a long shot. The acoustics are amazing. The drinks are divine. The owner selects the most amazing artists and you get to experience the music as if you were a VIP at a private event. This is a great date night or night out with the girls. You'll thank me later. Enjoy!

TooHonest F.

Yelp
First time here. Came to see Atlanta Brass cats and took the time to pay in advance. Was second in line to see 2nd show and when I get in I was disappointed to find front tables and chairs said reserved and was told they are for regulars. Nothing on the web site or my text correspondence with them warned me about this. Performance and acoustics were great, but not sure I would return for seating so "squished". Friendly customer service. Clean bathrooms. Ordered a bottle of wine and two glasses of water. I was brought two $3.00 bottles of water which is not fair. Why become a regular if the place only caters to them?

Wandra H.

Yelp
This was such a pleasant experience. Our 1st time here and was recommended by my girlfriend when I asked for a nice place to go with great food and good jazz. The Velvet Note Acoustic Living Room, did not disappoint! The ambience was wonderful and quite intimate, the staff and service were excellent. I can't say enough about the food from the Baja Guacamole, their Signature Colossal Lump Crab cake served with Napa pineapple slaw, steak fries and smoky aioli to the Lemon Pound Cake served with Blackberry compote and Lemon Cheesecake Ice cream. Oh my goodness, every morsel was divine. I appreciated the Owner/Chef Ms. Tamara Fuller coming to the stage and greeting everyone and thanked us for coming, she actually welcomed you into her Acoustic Living Room. We had the pleasure of hearing the sounds of The Bill Hart International Jazz Fusion Band, they were absolutely wonderful. Needless to say, we will be back!

Marcus O.

Yelp
[TL;DR] Wonderful acoustics, intimate space -- excellent jazz venue. Somewhere for date night or grown-up stuff. /ATMOSPHERE Just amazing. The place seats about 40 people total. Seating is first come, first serve so if you want a table closer to the stage, make sure you get there early. Honestly though, it'd be hard to find a spot that's bad when the place is literally the size of small restaurant. When you see the strip mall it's in, you'll know what I mean. Seats up front are even better and probably the best choice if you don't mind being up front and don't plan on eating. As far as dining tables, there aren't a lot of them and not a lot of seats overall. If you want to sit at a table, it's possible you're going to have company. The acoustics are pristine. The sound is crisp and warm -- designed by a protege of George Lucas specifically for live music. The small space lends to it, I think. All plating and utensils are some type of plastic to minimize all the noise from eating. The ceiling is blackened and treated with little stars that create a fantastic ambiance. /FOOD No idea. I didn't have any when I went since we had dinner elsewhere first. Looked good. Smelled good. Ordered some coffee. It came from a K-cup or some derivative which is the only reason I almost gave this place four stars. Prices are steep, but places like Velvet Note don't make their money on your ticket cost. It's in all this other stuff so it's expected. Glass of whiskey -- ~$10. /SERVICE Decent service overall. No complaints. Nothing that stood out. FYI, funny thing about all the attention they've paid to acoustics and sound quality -- the service, while fine, was all over the place, clearing off tables, dropping off tabs, running cards, and making change before the show even ends. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars - If I'm in the area, I'd pick something else. 3 Stars - I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars - I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars - I would go out of my way to dine here.

Cressinda W.

Yelp
It was a wonderful date night. I would love to go again. The ambiance, food and drinks were perfect for a romantic evening.

Francene T.

Yelp
Go here. Go for the ambiance. Go for the experience. Go for the opportunity to try something new. Most of all, go for the music. The Velvet Note is a hidden gem in the northern suburbs. It's billed as "an acoustic living room" and it lives up to it's billing. The venue is startlingly small - truly, not much larger than a living room - holding 50 to 60 patrons at the most. The musicians are on a raised platform at the end of the room but you feel as if they're sitting at the table with you. Don't be fooled by the size or turn your nose up at the suburban location. This place was designed by professionals and the acoustics are impeccable. Every note is clear and sightlines are unimpeded, making a visit here well worth your time and money. The Velvet Note hosts amazing talents like the Bosman Twins but they also have weekly open mic nights, so if you're an aspiring jazz musician, give it a shot! No need to go elsewhere for dinner before the concert, as The Velvet Note offers a dinner menu and has a well stocked bar. The wine selection isn't large but is well chosen, and the price points are a lot less than you'd pay at the restaurants at Avalon. Arrive a bit earlier than the performance and you can enjoy your meal then sit back and revel in the music (NOTE: all meals are served on plastic plates with plastic utensils to minimize the noise during performances).

Tucked away in a less than conspicuous location is a hidden gem: The Velvet Note. Tamara Fuller, the owner, gives you an atmosphere of sultry, melodic, romantic, cozy and yet lively fun evening. When a 66 year old VIP (who has never had a birthday party-ever) is celebrating, friends from all over the Metro-Atlanta came out to play. We enjoyed an evening with Eric Essix and his band. This guy! I watched mesmerizingly as his fingers caress yet barely touched the guitar strings to bring musical genius to the atmosphere. 15 women at a VIP center table swayed, tapped, clapped and enjoyed. The acoustics were outstanding. Have I mentioned the cuisine? Chef Peace, did his thing. As a foodie, I ranked it high on my list. I must highly recommend the Lamb- chops! Succulent to the bone. Looking for a new great experience? Try "The Velvet Note", just one night --- you'll get hooked!!

Yelp
Imagine listening to jazz in a swanky, yet cozy living room and you have an at home chef to create a delicious meal. This is exactly what comes to mind when I think of Velvet Note. I'm a music connoisseur and I love listening to live music. Rashon Murph brought me here again and oh my goodness all I can say is Google this brilliant pianist. Sadly he was relocating to CA and this was his last show in Atlanta. If he visits again, he's definitely one to see! I visited the Velvet Note on a couple of other occasions and have always had a pleasant experience. Food: I ordered shrimp and grits and they were good. Pricey for the serving size but really good. Location: It is located in an unassuming strip mall, but please don't let that deter you as you'll be doing yourself a real disservice. Looking forward to some live jazz this summer. I'll try to upload a video snippet of the entertainment because it was definitely a night to remember. See you soon Velvet Note!

Yelp
This place is Uh Ma Zing. The best jazz club I've ever been to. It's so comfortable and feels like you are sitting in your living room hearing world class jazz musicians. The acoustics in the room are absolutely fantastic and the sound levels just right: you can hear every note from the various instruments and the vocals cut through perfectly. The owner only books world class talent....in fact they've been rated #1 in Atlanta four years in a row, and they've been awarded Top 100 Jazz clubs worldwide. We only had desert (which was amazing), but the food options looked delicious as well. I agree with another poster: I hesitate to post this because I selfishly want to keep this to myself, but this establishment deserves a 5 star review. It's a great date night option...or a wonderful place to enjoy an evening of jazz with friends.

Yelp
I couldn't wait to make it back to the Note. This photo is a sample of the braised beef short ribs and I got the vegan lasagna coming. Off the chain..,!

Yelp
Great ambiance, drinks & food. The music was top tier and sound was well balanced for a live experience. Definitely worth checking out for date night.
