"For, maybe the first time in Highly Recommend history, two people pitched the same thing! Instead of letting them duke it out, we let the two wax poetic about this one particular deli in Vermont. Amanda Shapiro: So when I was a kid, my family would drive from Connecticut to Vermont to visit my grandparents, and almost every time we’d stop at this shop with a name I never knew because I just called it “the dip chicken place.” Turns out, it was the Vermont Country Deli in Brattleboro, VT—and there’s so much more to it than chicken." - ByAmanda Shapiro

I really loved this stop during out Vermont road trip. It has 2 buildings, one where the deli is and one for more cafe items. They had a huge selection of food at the deli ranging rom hot foods, snacks, and sandwiches. The sandwich line was a little slow, but it was because each sandwich crafter was dedicating their time to perfect each sandwich. I got the traffic jam on sourdough. I couldn’t decide which protein to try so I got a little bit of everything. It was well worth it. We also got their famous mac n cheese, very creamy and packed with enough cheese. I also wanted to try their pulled pork because they use maple syrup. Can definitely taste it. This place well worth the stop.

Smaller on the inside than it looks, this deli is efficiently run with many great options. I got the elote (mecican corn salad), mac and cheese and a round about russian sandwich. I havent tried the elote yet, but the other two items were great and reasonably priced.

Stopped at Vermont Country Deli and tried their mac and cheese—absolutely incredible. Super creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. Easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Nice spot, friendly staff, and totally worth the stop. If you’re anywhere near, do yourself a favor and grab a container (or two).

The deli is conveniently located just off of interstate 91 and makes for a quick road trip stop that isn't fast food. They have lots of different food options. We had sandwiches made to order but their Mac & Cheese looked popular. They have a few picnic tables outside and washrooms are located in the next door building which sells groceries and other gift shop items.

Fast service and great sandwiches and possibly the best Mac and cheese you’ll ever try. Classic place to stop on your way to mount snow, their traveling turkey is one of my all time favorite sandwiches and with their fresh Vermont cheddar it perfects the sandwich. The traffic jam is also incredible allowing you to taste 3 different types of deli meats. The Mac and cheese is so creamy and delicious it melts in your mouth could not recommend it anymore. The place can get crowded but they’re fast and process orders quick. Cannolis are also really good.

Saw this location on TikTok and had to make a whole trip to get the infamous Mac and cheese. Well it did not live up to the hype at all. Overrated and disappointing. It could be because I got the last bit of a batch but as you can see from the pics it’s not creamy. More oily than anything. Taste is alright nothing extraordinary. Pulled pork was good though. Carrot cheesecake was alright, very healthy tasting. When I eat a dessert I want it to taste unhealthily tasty. Sandwiches are too fancy for my taste. Pot stickers were in this weird sauce couldn’t even finish it. I’ve never seen pot stickers in a white sauce. Breakfast sandwiches end at 11:00a.m. . Bathrooms are clean and available to public in the next building. Be careful parking!

First and foremost, do not park directly in front of the deli. Instead, park in the parking lot next to the store at their satellite operation the Deli Market, which has many more spaces and is much safer. Parking in front of the deli can be hazardous to your health because of the speeding traffic along Route 9. Some of these people are just plain crazy on how they drive here. This deli is your typical tourist trap location for selling everything country under the sun to those out-of-towners that do not know any better and want a taste of the country. That is not to say that the food here, especially the pastries, are not wonderful, just a heads-up on what this business is all about. The shelves are full of the typical tourist items like little bottles of maple syrup, soaps, trinkets, food package mixes, cheeses, etc., etc. The sandwiches, food dishes and pastries are all freshly made from what I can tell and everything we had was very good. The prices for all the homemade items are quite reasonable and the serving portions are acceptable. As for the pastries, well they were out-of-this-world, and we are only glad we do not live any closer to this location because they could become addicting. Finally, the staff at this as well as their market next store, varied, from friendly and delightful, to I wish I had not come in here today. A few of the staff were not too happy that we wished to take photos and made it a point to directly confront us with why we would be taking photos. In the end, we got the photos we needed but will not be rushing back to this location anytime in the future and that is why we lowered our overall rating of this location. Positive feedback and reviews build a business and are helpful to attract a larger customer clientele, made management at this location should educate their staff on this.

This deli has great food and a wonderful atmosphere with great people. Although I can imagine that some people from big cities might feel a little uncomfortable with how "country" it is.
