TLDR: The bar/pub food and its staff are wonderful. The hotel experience and rooms are not worth the money.
Although I was very happy with the quality of the food and the pub and its staff, the hotel room experience was a sincere let-down. I encountered a number of disapponinting issues that were surprising given the $510.00 price tag for a 3 night stay ($170/night)
1) The room's TV remote was missing. Although when I reported this to the staff they did offer to move my room, the staff explained that they were already aware of the missing remote and had been trying to order a new one. This same staff member was the one that checked me in. Instead of offering to change my rooms AFTER I had already settled in an unpacked, they should have made me aware of it it upon check-in.
2) The hot water dial in the shower would not go past 8. So, I couldn't have a hot shower. The hose leading to the shower head was torn and nearly falling off, which meant the shower had less than ideal water pressure as a result. Additionally, the shower walls had mildew and the floor of the shower was quite stained/dirty.
3.) The floor lamp in the room didn't work. Since the overhead light in the room isn't very bright this was actually quite a problem in terms of trying to see to pack.
4) There was no iron or ironing board in the room (though perhaps this can be requested?)
5) There is not "do not disturb" placard for the door so I was awoken out of a dead sleep by housekeeping whom I had to yell at not to enter as I was not ready for them.
6) The lid for the trashcan in the bathroom was broken off. Instead of replacing the trashcan, housekeeping would simply replace it (this was unsanitary as I had to use my fingers to take the lid off every time I wanted to place something in the trashcan as the foot pedal didn't work.
7) My stay was advertised as being provided a complementary continental breakfast. However, a few boxes of dry cereal and a jug of milk isn't really a continental breakfast.
8) The kettle in the room was scummy with limescale and the tray was dirty
9) The pub restaurant was off limits two of the days I was there due to private events. This was only told to me when I checked in. Since I assume they knew well in advanced their pub was closed, they should have informed be upon booking so that I could plan accordingly instead of having to figure it out on the fly after being told.
10) There were only 3 hangers in the room. Hardly sufficient for someone traveling with multiple shirts or coats.
11) The headboard was broken and lopsided. The bed was also festooned with velour pillows that were likely not washed after every stay since the covers are not removable. (not sanitary)
While some of these things are not major issues, they all accumulate to a really disappointing experience at $170.00 a night in a hotel/pub that is located in a very nice neighborhood and that positions itself well above something like a Travel Lodge. Overall, I would not stay again--certainly not at the rate being charged. It is a shame though, since the pub and its food and staff are really quite delightful.
