The Rolling Rooster Will Take Over the Former Historic Victory Grill | Eater Austin

"Opened in 1945 by Johnny Holmes after World War II, Victory Grill served as a gathering spot for African-Americans during segregation and became a vital stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit, hosting performers like James Brown, Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Chuck Berry. Its nightclub closed in the 1970s and the building shut after a 1988 fire, but fundraising efforts—including concerts supported by Clifford Antone—and a final push led by Eva Lindsey and R. V. Adams resulted in a 1996 rebuild; it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 and is recognized by the Texas Historical Commission, with Another Option Productions taking over the venue for events and South by Southwest performances in 2011." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
They claim to be America's favorite cheeseburger. While I have to admit that I tried way better burgers in America, there is no denying the value for the price I paid for their burger. To say that they serve huge portions is an understatement. You can drown in all that potato fries.

Google
This was an absolute treat. Not only was the food as great as people say, the people (both, employees and customers) were cool. Everyone was light hearted and mingling from table to table. It felt like an old school neighborhood event. What a great experience. I'll certainly be back.

Google
Best Bacon Cheeseburger I have found in Stockton. Served quick with a pile of great fries. Going to have to come back to try some of their other menu choices.

Google
Absolutely the most EXCELLENT fresh ingredients and friendliest folks in Stockton. They were 100% accommodating to our needs and last minute changes that kept happening. The food was delicious and plentiful and such a reasonable price for the quantity and quality!

Google
I just found out about The Victory Grill and I am so happy I did. I haven't had an Orilies Hot Roast Beef Sandwich in almost 30 years until today. Its as delicious as I remember. I can't wait to taste everything else on their menu. It all looks so good.

Google

Google
this was my first time here I got the rib basket with fries I would have got the sweet potato fries if I would have knew they had sweet potato fries but it was very good the ribs was tender not dry or tough only bad thing I can say is a little bit more BBQ ! But most definitely will be going back next week to try out the bacon cheeseburger!!

Yelp
OMG! The best food is the best EVER! I'm sad I didn't take photos. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This place is a well-hidden gem in the Victory Park neighborhood of Southwest Stockton. Their whole menu is simple American fare, with very few frills for a decent price. Their portions are humungous and you definitely get your money's worth but, let me just say, their fried chicken is the best damn fried chicken north of the Mason-Dixon line, particularly their "Cluck-you-up." It's a good thing they're only open to the public for sit-down service one day a week; otherwise I'd be broke an 200 pounds heavier. Great job, Victory Grill. Hoping you'll offer wings some day; I'm betting they'd be awesome!

Yelp
The food was great, my wife really enjoyed her burger and fries. I ordered a salad with Tri-tip, it was delicious. Employees were extremely polite and very attentive.

Yelp
dropped in by this place today as i was walking past due to the food smelled pretty good that they were cooking . anyways i got the $20 rib special with a side of fries and mac salad . ribs were good & sauced right , fries were pretty good . could have used a little more salt . mac salad was alright , would have been a 5 star review if the mac salad had more veggies in it . overall for $27 i'm pleased . only downside is they are only open on fridays if you're planning on stopping by .

Yelp
I love the food here the barbecue is real reasonable good service the last time I was there been going there for quite a while now. I highly recommend going there you will be satisfied. Definitely with the food. So on that note God bless establishment and to all that work there.

Yelp
Solid burger and fries, I have not tried the chicken or tri tip sandwiches. But check to see if they are open, kinda like Brigadoon they limited hours.

Yelp
Good American food. Simple menu. Affordable abs tasty. I wish they were open more often, I always seems to want it when they're closed!

Yelp
Was excited to try this place and planned to try a little of everything they had on the menu 6/5/2020. Bacon cheeseburger, pesto chicken panini, garlic fries, rib basket and chicken basket. It was supposed to be a family fun lunch. Where do I start, coming out of COVID you think the oil for the fries and chicken would be clean, you can definitely tell it was old or cheap it has a fishy, heavy aftertaste, gross. The bacon on the burger was like beef jerky, chicken panini was soggy and tomatoes on both the burger and sandwich were soggy. The ribs taste like they were boiled smothered with barbecue sauce, fries were drowning in the nasty oil. I hesitated leaving a bad review, I know this is someone's living. However I wanted to treat my self and family to a wonderful experience and it ended up very disappointing.

Yelp
A friend brought me some ribs from here and it was delicious! Wanted to try it fresh today so I went to stop by, but they were closed due to their new business hours. Sad that they are only open on Wednesday and Fridays, but I'm looking forward to visiting them again! (will be giving updates) Business Hours: Wednesdays: 11 am - 2 pm Fridays: 11 am - 2 pm

Yelp
After a light breakfast and a half day of cycling I started to get hungry so given the area I was in I chose this place. Angry Bird- Wasn't to angry in my opinion. Handling the sandwich was a bit annoying, the ingredients would fall out with every bite, could have use one of those toothpicks for sandwiches. Filling, tasty sandwich. Tangy sauce with the chicken made it seen like I was eating a buffalo chicken sandwich, which I lke. Half order fries- fries were cool, I like that they come with some potato skin on them. Diet Coke- fountain Diet coke. (Looking back at it I should have served myself a regular coke :/ ) The food was A-OK, will return to try something else. Customer service was great, the man at the counter called me by my name the whole time he was helping me, sign of skill in what he does. Total: $10.99

Yelp
Today was my first try at Victory Grill. I think my favorite part about it was the atmosphere; it's a really homey little place, and definitely super busy during lunch hour. They had a yummy assortment of lunches - burgers, pulled pork, paninis. Garlic fries, normal fries, chili cheese fries. I went for the infused bacon burger and regular fries. Not a bad deal for a huge burger. The fries were good, not my favorite. The burger comes on a Genova bun which was definitely my favorite. The bacon slice was the literally the thickest piece of bacon OF MY LIFE. Like to the point that it was almost too thick! Food was served super fast and efficient, which was appreciated when you're on a tight lunch break. Overall, good lunch place. Not my favorite but will probably be back again!

Yelp
Recently went to a small party that victory grill catered. They were amazing! Food was cooked exceptionally well. We ordered the pulled pork, ribs, mac&cheese, and salad from them. Pulled porked and ribs were so tender and packed full of flavor. Macaroni was cooked exceptionally well, and I loved the salad mix. Their homemade ranch is one of the best I've ever eaten! 100% recommend this place for catering!

Yelp
They gave me soooo much food!! I had been dying to try Victory Grill for a while and we finally made it out for my coworker's birthday. I grabbed a coupon off their website for a $5 burger, fries and can of soda. They gave me an amazing amount of fries and I was able to enjoy them with homemade ranch dressing. My experience here was great from the moment I stepped in the door and was greeted by the very nice woman working behind the counter to the moment we left and were given a friendly good bye! The food was really good, but there are a few burger places I like better. I wish I could put the patty from my favorite Cincinnati restaurant on the plate with the fries, ranch and service here. (it's hard to live up to a family favorite but they get really close) This place is completely worth trying and I know it will become a regular part of our office rotation. Remember to grab the coupon off the website though for a $5 meal! Awesome deal!!

Yelp
Still one of my favorite burger joints. They should have nothing but 5 star reviews! This ain't Burger King. Lol if you want crispy frozen fries it ain't for you. If you want a burger that you'll probably eat with a fork! And some amazing unusual burger creations I recommend it! Keep up the good work guys I'm glad your back to being open a fee times a week.

Yelp
Great Place to come. If you want to original burger from the valley you got to come to Victory Grill. Got to love their food!

Yelp
Victory Grill catered our son's local wedding reception last weekend. The service was excellent. The food was wonderful and their clean up the next day when they came to pick up their plates and serving trays went without a hitch. Very reasonable prices-excellent eats and nice people to boot. Doesn't get any easier

Yelp
Victory Grill on Monte Diablo Ave in Stockton, California. After a long day of running around town with my three kids. My clan wanted a hamburger and some fries. I was clear across town and Victory Grill closes up shop at 8 pm and we only had an hour to play with. We arrived and roughly had about 45 minutes to order and eat, that's plenty of time. I remembered my friend Dale posting on a tip about a coupon. So I went online on my cellphone and asked the cashier if I could use it and she replied "yes". With the $5 coupon you get a Cheeseburger with all the fixings, a massive amount of fries and a can of soda. If you want for a $1 you can make your fries into chili cheese fries. Thanks Dale for the tip :) The lady working the counter is pretty nice and was patient with me because all my children didn't want certain veggies or mustard put in their burgers. With all the "I don't want this and that in my burgers" they actually got my whole order right. Plus she remembered who ordered what. I was actually impressed by that. Sometimes my kids can drive a person cray cray lol. So we sat down and waited for our food and having a blast in the process. Talking about anything and everything. Before we knew it our food arrived and I quickly took some pictures of our meal. The got used to this stuff by now, so they don't mind at all. Because they love the idea of me always recording our time together. Note: only one bathroom, but it's set up like a bathroom in a home and very nice. Note: They do have outside seating. Note: Starting next week winter hours will be starting. So they will be closing earlier at 6 Pm. My kids and I didn't have any problems with the food here. Everyone loved their burgers and fries. My youngest really liked the chili cheese fries and so did I. The burgers are a nice size here and they're not cheap with the lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. I do like my burgers packed with veggies and so does my kids. None of us could finish our fries and we ended up getting a to go box to snack on later. Maybe one day we'll explore more into thier menu. But I do know my kids do love their burgers and that was enough for me. We had a great time here at Victory Grill this evening. The food was great and we spent our time talking and enjoying the moment. "Family time", is what I like to call it. Doing what Dad's do, spending time with our kids. My three kids always comes first. Everything else in life is a bonus. So yeah I'll be back when I wanna cheeseburger. Vincent D *VD* Enjoying the simple things in life.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! I visited a second time today after my first visit earlier in the week just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and boy was I happy. Victory Grill is a little building over by Victory School, on the other side of Victory Park. I hear from people in the know that the restaurant was originally the Victory Fountain back in the day and might have even been a pizza parlor at one time but now it's re-opened with a simple menu of true all American comfort food. I hear the hamburgers here are just delicious but I have yet to experience them since the two times I have been I had the hot roast beef sandwich. Oh wow...it's like a meal in it of itself. Seriously Arby's aint got nothing on this sandwich. I am not the biggest fan of horseradish so I get it with mayo, but its one of the better sandwiches I have ever tasted. The fries are just amazing as well...fresh cut and fresh fried, they remind me a bit of In n Out fries but with a little more home cookin' feel to them. Eat 'em while they are hot for maximum deliciousness but even when they are cold later they are still pretty darn good. And last but not least, those people who used to frequent Exotic Java over on Ben Holt in North Stockton and were sad when it had to close recently, you will be happy to know the woman who owned it is now over here at the Victory Grill. While it might not have that Exotic Java name, she still has the same menu and same great coffee she did before. This place is a little out of the way but TOTALLY worth your time. :0)

Yelp
I wound up here today because Smitty's was closed for vacation. I was looking forward to my frequent dose of wings. My next choice would be Victory Grill but I was concerned that they would be closed since they normally close at 3pm. But one quick phone call and I found out they were open until 6pm because it was Concerts in the Park Wednesday! Yay!!!! Had a great cheeseburger and fries here today. I miss eating here but they are only open till 3pm Monday thru Saturday. That's the reason for -1 star. For the next four Wednesdays they will be open till 6pm to accommodate people attending Concerts in the Park at Victory Park. People get take-out to eat at the park while listening to free music! They grind their own meat! Makes for a great burger. They cut their fries fresh. Makes for great fries. They finally found the right recipe for the fries after some trial and error. Today the fries were a bit crispy on the outside...hot and tender on the inside. If you are looking for crispy, crunchy fries you might not like them but I loved them! Check their website for a coupon...$5 meal deal! You get a yummy cheeseburger, fresh-cut french fries and a can of soda for five bucks!

Yelp
...And to think I was planning to go to McDonald's to buy a burger and fries because I'm broke from the holiday weekend (pay day Friday!).......Shame on me!! Initially came here for the coffee. I've miss Exotic Java since they closed. Got my usual White Mocha Glacier (Yum! Oh how I've missed it). While my drink was being made, I browsed through Yelp comments to check out reviews for their burgers. After reading a few, I was sold....ordered an All American Cheeseburger and fries. I knew I'd get way better food quality here anyway. Order took no more than 5 mins, couldn't wait to indulge while everything was hot and fresh. Took a bite and went into burger heaven. So delicious! Their fries are tasty and plentiful for a half order. Service is warm and very friendly. I'm soooo glad I didn't go to McD's...thank you Yelpers for stopping me.

Yelp
My friends and I wanted to try a new place in Stockton. Victory grill stood out from the list. We were surprised to find out that it was so close to pacific! There isn't much parking In front of the restaurant but parking on the side is easy to find. Keep in mind that a school is around the corner so going during pick up hours are probably gonna be difficult. I ordered the bacon infused cheeseburger combo, which comes with fries and a drink. The wait wasn't long at all. The burger was so good that I wondered why I hadn't been there before. The fries were just the way I like them, crunchy but had a softness to them. I'm definitely coming back to try the angry bird or all American burger!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to Victory Grill twice now and they have made some great improvements to their food! I wasn't a big fan of their fries before because they were a bit soggy but they have since done away with the soggy and their fries are fresh cut and with the right amount of crisp. I wasn't too fond of the garlic fries which I had both times. There is just something about them that was too... something. It might be the garlic, it was over powering and they were a bit sweet, which I found odd. I'll take the plain fries any day though! I've had their Orly's roast beef which is now served daily and their shrimp po' boy. I've had po' boys at French 25 and Victory's wins over my taste buds, hands down. The shrimp was tender, seasoned and crispy fried, and they drizzled this Cajun flavored mayo on top. It all went harmoniously with the Genova Bakery bread. I also had their pesto pasta, which I probably would have liked warm and instead of cold, but that doesn't mean that it lacked in flavor. More of a preference. They have also made the great decision to change the breading of their chicken to panko crusted chicken! My son absolutely LOVED it and so did we when we ate his leftovers! I'll definitely be back and I think I would like to try their French dip and their Angry Bird burger next time. Concert at the park is coming and I am planning on ordering some tri tip to go! What I really want to see is someone horking down that 1 pound burger and 1 pound of fries. Now THAT I would like to see in person.
google avatar

Samantha H.

Yelp
Service is so great. So nice! I didn't see a lettuce wrap on the menu asked if they can do one. They said sure! The burgers were so good! HUGE portion of fries. You can tell they are fresh. So much flavor. All the toppings tasted fresh. SUCH A HIDDEN GEM!

Yelp
First time I ate in at this place, heard about it on Facebook, my family raved about it, and the pictures they took of their food, I must say had me intrigued. Small Resturant but at the time I went it wasn't busy at all, you order before you sit. I ordered: Bacon infused cheeseburger with grilled onions. Tri-tip sandwich with grilled onions Veggie panini Fries Sandwiches and burger was all tasty. Fries were average Cashier was super friendly, my 4 year old son spilled his drink on the floor and had a (i need a nap) breakdown, and the cashier handled it all with a smile. She mopped up spill ASAP and packed up all our food speedily to go, and never seemed annoyed or put out at all. I really can appreciate that when I have a kid screaming at the top of his lungs in one arm. Thanks Victory grill!!! I will be back -minus the screaming toddler:)

Yelp
This place is so affordable!!! Cheap prices, big portions, very yummy. I love how they have lots of combination decisions, which includes fries and a drink, perfect for when you're starving. I ordered the short ribs and my bf ordered the pulled pork burger. - short ribs: 3 pieces, each had lots of meat and very easy to chew off! The sauce was very flavorful, I think it's bbq flavored. It also came with thin cut fries, simply delicious - pulled pork burger: so big! It can get a bit messy where the pulled pork pieces come falling out. That's ok cause it's taste is sweet as it can be! Patty was cooked superb. Much wow for this burger. I would say this is one of the top western style bbq places to try in Stockton. Very spacious and lots of tables and chairs to sit at. The ambiance is relaxing too.

Yelp
The food at this homey restaurant was a weary road travelers best dream. The hot beef sandwich- thee best ever for me and my husband rates the original hamburger as one of his top 3. Wish we lived closer; like next door!
google avatar

Jeanette T.

Yelp
Chicken tender sandwich, fries and a grilled chicken salad. Chicken salad was just your average everyday salad nothing special. Chicken sandwich was very good once I added some salt. It's lacked flavor but was good once so me salt and pepper hit it. Fries could have been cooked a little longer.
google avatar

Salvador V.

Yelp
First time here and let me tell you I was surprised of how busy they are. Maybe it is because they only open from 10am to 3pm. Definitely a good sign if you are looking for good food. I ordered the combo #4 ultimate BBQ All American Cheeseburger my wife got a Chicken Pesto Panini. Food is great and a real american Taste. If you have not been here you have to come and try. Definitely a diamond in the cuts of Stockton California.

Yelp
So sad to see this place go. Hopefully one day, the owners can recover and open up again someday. This place was definitely the real deal spots in the 209. . Enjoying our last Victory Grill meal today, as they were forced to close their doors 02/24/18. You will be definitely missed!
google avatar

Alfredo R.

Yelp
Another great place to get a burger. These guys are definitely not skimpy on servings so I suggest you come hungry, maybe even starving. Extremely friendly staff. The only downside is that there is not much seating room but you can always order to go and have a picnic down the street at victory patk
google avatar

Roger A.

Yelp
I had the Combo #2, Bacon Infused Cheeseburger, with fries and a drink, double meat, with grilled onions and pepper jack cheese. The food is cooked fresh. You may have to wait a few minutes but the food is definitely worth the wait. The prices are good also. I went with 3 other people and the total bill was less then $40! That's not bad at all for good quality food! Besides burgers they also offer entrees with ribs, chicken, and other home cooked style dishes. They also do catering for larger parties! I look forward to coming back and trying some ribs!
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
Last night we had dinner catered for my mother -in-laws birthday party. IT WAS AMAZING. Everyone raved about the food. We had chicken, pulled pork and ribs, yummy. My family has been enjoying leftovers all day. They were very easy to work with, from ordering to delivery. I would use them again for my next big event. And I would recommend them to friends! Thank you!
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
A small little hole-in-the-wall, but the food is promising! I had the VEGGIE PANINI, which was extremely flavorful. My friend got the bacon-infused burger and enjoyed it as well.
google avatar

Shelly S.

Yelp
They serve fresh burgers cook to order here. The meat was cooked just right and had good flavor. I would say order a single patty unless you are starving because they really pack on the fixings and burgers are big! The only thing I wasn't to happy with was the bacon. It was a but fatty and chewy for my liking but I'd definitely give this place another try.
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
This place is far from comfort food I had the all American cheese burger combo and the chicken tender basket and nothing was executed right first the fries were so oily the fries stood limp. Fries should be crisp and not limp and soggy. I was really dissatisfied with my burger because it was jam packed with so much stuff that I couldn't even hold my burger and the bun disinagrated because it wasn't toasted i had to literally eat my burger with a knife and fork cause it was impossible to hold. The chicken tenders were so overcooked that the chicken was thinner than the breading it felt like I was eating fried breading the only thing I that was nice was thier shakes.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious little dive. Must try the bacon infused cheeseburger. Lots of Interesting twists to an american-style menu that makes this place worth checking out.
google avatar

Brittny M.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! The only suggestion I would have is I wish they would roast their buns especially on to-go orders.
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place. I had the OG orllies roast beef & mac salad. Both were delicious, portions gigantic. Superb, friendly customer service. I will come back, they offer BBQ, not to mention the huge burger choices.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Shhhhmack!!!!!!!!! The bessssst. My brother said. "What did he deserve to have the delicious first bite. " we had an amazing lunch !!!!!!!!!! My daughter had a huge chicken basket! Deeeeelishhhhh
google avatar

Irma J.

Yelp
They have the best chicken paninis. Their new Ice Cream soft serve machine with their Butterfinger milkshake is awesome. Go to your Facebook Victory Grill and see all the good food.
google avatar

Leelee D.

Yelp
I loved my oriles hot roast beef sandwich with gravy but the potato salad had no flavor it needed salt pepper and mustard my husband had the tri-tip sandwich and a order of fries the tri-tip sandwich he said it was chewy and flavorless and was dry there where only four small half dollar sized pieces on his sandwich and the fries needed salt....
google avatar

Maria Y.

Yelp
I got a shrimp PO' boy with literally 1 piece of shrimp? Steak sandwich had so much fat, I literally had to dismember my sandwich to cut off all the fat. Really expensive for how generic and fatty products are. Could be a lot better. You'll have to settle for lower quality food here... bacon is not crispy, but rather just soaked in fat and warmed up, wish this place was better cuz their food options are different!
google avatar

Angela G.

Yelp
Honestly I have never wanted to make a bad review but this place really deserves one!! First of all my order took 45 minutes to be ready. All I ordered was a combo #1 and chicken basket wich came up to $20 and it was a waste of my time and money. Based on the reviews I thought it would be worth it however it was not my husband said it was the nastiest burger he ever had and the fries MAN they were not good, They are so bland and taste like starch which they add to their fries. I'm honestly not trying to be mean and I hope you will acknowledge my comment and make some improvements.
google avatar

Shark M.

Yelp
Classic burger joint. Possibly the best bacon burger I've had. Tons of nice thick bacon. Crispy fries, including sweet potato fries. Friendly customer service. Only open two days a week, but not a problem for me. The only real down side to this place, other than the neighborhood, is that you'll leave smelling like a burger joint. Gets packed for lunch for good reason, so go early! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Jolene W.

Yelp
We got a door hanger that had the fall special advertised. We had a birthday party coming up so we decided to try this place. We got ribs chicken pesto and salad. Everything was amazing!!! Their BBQ sauce was really good I wish I would've requested it on the chicken too. The salad was my favorite. I expected the usual boring iceberg kind but I was wrong! It was mixed greens with tomatoes, onions, dried cranberries, mandarin oranges, and cheese. The perfect pairing of both salty and sweet. We got so many compliments from our guests. Their prices are very reasonable and we got a good portion of food. We will definitely come back for our catering needs. I can't wait to try the other items on their menu! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of their hours. They're only open from 10-3. I wish they were open during dinner time!!!!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Victory Grill. We are burger fans, and I don't think I've ever had one that was as hot, fresh, juicy and flavorful. My husband had the pulled BBQ pork sandwich; it was well spiced, smoky, and nicely avoided a common pitfall of pulled pork sandwiches by not being too sweet! The fries were also exceptional! Crispy, hot and not a hint of 'old oil' taste. Perfect. The service was friendly and quick, and for the portion sizes you cannot beat the price. We will absolutely come back again.

Yelp
They've only been open for about a month and I'm gonna' go ahead and call it now....if they keep doing what they're doing and how they're doing it, lines are going to be out the door and around the corner. If you're like me and always looking for that off-the-beaten-path kinda' burger joint that hasn't gone mainstream yet, this is your spot. It's the epitome of a hidden gem and the quality of food they're throwin' out is pretty damn amazing to say the least. It sits on a corner by itself, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and if it weren't for the stop sign 10 ft from the front door, it could easily be missed. There's street parking available on the side of the building where we were instantly greeted by one of the owners working the BBQ grill. Inside is an inviting, nostalgic Route 66 diner kinda' feel, The menu on the wall is simple and not overly cluttered, where BBQ seems to be the staple like a BBQ pulled pork sandwich for $4.55 or the BBQ tri-tip sandwich for $7.95. There's a homemade hot roast beef sandwich wtih Au Jus on the menu but don't get it mistaken with the roast beef sandwich that's only served as a special once a week because they're not the same. Apparently, the weekly special roast beef is a secret recipe that was given to them by a former iconic restaurant in Stockton that was known for their roast beef sandwich's and they pride themselves with this recipe. I will definitely be trying this on my next trip for sure because it sounds amazing. Everything on the menu looked equally good but there was no way I was coming this far to stay clear of my love for burgers. When ordering, I did what I normally do at new spots and I asked for the biggest, messiest burger they make. He accepted the invitation, gave his recommendation and ten minutes later I found myself biting into something put he'd put together from two of the burgers on the menu - a Double Bacon-Infused Ultimate BBQ American Cheeseburger that had burger porn written all over it! Two house-ground chuck and bacon patties topped with nicely melted American cheese, mounded with BBQ pulled pork between two fresh pillowy buns. The Meat was cooked perfectly, BBQ pulled pork was moist and tasteful, swimming in a candy coated BBQ sauce bursting with flavors almost as if it could be served alone as a soup du jour. Everything you'll find here is fresh, the beef chuck is ground in house for the burgers, the potatoes are all hand cut and then fried to golden brown perfection and the BBQ'ing is done on a grill five feet from the back door. For those of you that bring your big boy underwear they even have the Bacon Infused Challenge - a 1 lb bacon infused burger with 1 lb of fries and if you finish it your picture goes on the wall of victory. Overall, I was very impressed with the whole experience. The food was great, the entire staff was polite and very engaging, offering personal recommendations and explaining everything from how the food is prepared to the history of things on the wall. The prices are low enough to be unheard of these days for the caliber of food you're getting. So, if you're ever in Stockton and wanting a great burger joint with a pleasant staff get over to this place and help spread the word!
