Madeira, Portugal, Dining Guide to the Food & Drink Scene | Eater

"A tall, contemporary hotel tower that rises over Funchal with sleek rooms and balconies offering the island’s signature glimpses; its convenient location near the historic center and on-site dining make it a practical base, with rooms positioned at a mid-range price point during high season." - Austin Bush

We stayed in a classic room with Mountain View. Very quiet room. Balcony rather small, but sufficient. Overall a lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Patrícia on reception was particularly efficient and helpful. Very good breakfast and buffet dinner taken on one occasion. Outdoor and indoor pools and spa facilities excellent. The walk in to Funchal and back was quicker and easier than expected having read other reviews, however, could be challenging for anyone with restricted mobility. Taxi’s are plentiful and not too costly. We will return, but note the following points which resulted in a score of 4 instead of 5: Gym has limited equipment for the size of hotel e.g only one of each type of equipment and weight machine broken; unable to sit at breakfast with a window sea view as reserved for Deluxe customers; although general cleanliness is very good the topper on bed did not have a mattress protector; replacement pool towels have a charge. Overall very pleasant stay.

Loved this hotel! Amazing location and loved the pools and spa. Staff were super helpful as well. Loved the dinner buffet, breakfast buffet could have been better. Only wish the pools were open longer and there was more parking as almost every guest had a car! Also there was an odd smell in the hallway like body odour on the 4th floor but we didn’t notice this smell anywhere else. Would definitely come back!

One of the best hotel experiences of my life. From check-in (with the sweet and efficient Claudia) throughout our 4-night stay, everything was magnificent. We had a deluxe, sea view room, and it was worth the extra splurge for the incredible view. The shower was luxurious, there’s a pillow menu (first time I’ve seen this) for those of us who like options, the sheets were silky soft and the mattress was so comfy! The concierge (thank you, Patricia) even facilitated a birthday surprise with flowers and champagne from some friends back in the states- what a treat! We opted to include breakfast for each of us during the stay, and I’m so glad we did! You have the option of ordering off the menu (the green shakshuka is divine), or eating from the extensive buffet. We did a little of both, and the food was delicious. We ate lunch poolside most days, and the salads are super fresh and tasty! Order the sangria with red wine and thank me later. We started each day in the spa, and the amenities blew us away. Everything was sparkling clean and functioning perfectly (I often find one thing or another out of service at hotel spas, so was pleasantly surprised at the level of luxury this spa provided). We also got a fabulous couples massage during our stay. Highly recommend! In total, the hotel blew us away. The location, staff, restaurants, amenities are all 5 star. We cannot wait to return.

We stayed at this hotel for a week and stayed in a Superior Room with Sea View. This room category is highly recommended, as it offers a breathtaking view of the city. The room was very nicely furnished and didn't lack any amenities. Most importantly, it was clean. We didn't notice any noise from the neighbors, so the walls aren't clairvoyant. The spa and the outdoor pool are the hotel's highlights. The spa offerings (4-season shower, sauna, Turkish bath, etc.) were more than adequate for a hotel. Regarding the staff: The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were even allowed to stay in our room an extra two hours due to our flight. Other hotels aren't as accommodating in this regard. The only drawback were two employees at the bar. They were unfriendly and disinterested. Therefore, we avoided the bar, as we didn't feel comfortable there. That was sad, as the bar was beautiful. All in all, we would gladly stay at this hotel again.

A really beautiful hotel with a great view if you get a room on the city side. There were some silly nickel and dime type things like 1 Euro for a fresh pool towel. But parking was free, the spa area was amazing, and the Michelin star restaurant on the top floor was unforgettable. We loved our stay here!

The Views Baía was altogether a really nice hotel and experience. The location is good, easy to walk into Funchal, and easy to drive to and from. The staff generally were very attentive and friendly. Big positives were lovely pool (and it's pool bar), great spa, breakfast had loads of tasty options. Bed was comfortable and room was pretty decent. There were incredible views at different areas of the hotel. We were celebrating our honeymoon and the staff also left us a bottle of prosecco as a welcome gift which was a nice touch. We got lucky with the parking but I imagine this can be a bit of a free for all at the wrong time. Negatives would be the tiny balcony, only having the water cooler at the spa, gym and on the 'deluxe' room floors, and despite having the gift for our honeymoon, we were originally led to believe that we would have a room upgrade from the messages with the customer relations manager but this did not come to fruition - we would rather have not been told that our room was being upgraded to find out when we checked in that it wasn't. All in all a decent little stay and suited us really well for our trip.

Very good value for money. Stayed in standard room which was very nice, quiet, clean, nice mountain views. Free wine, the kettle, teas/coffees and fridge was very welcome. Balcony small and seats face wall but we never used it. Staff nice, helpful and efficient. Food very good and varied at breakfast and dinner. Views nice from restaurant. Cocktails very nice! Spa facilities very good. Hotel felt classy and well run. Even opened restaurant for us to have a small breakfast at 2.30am when we had to check out! Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you!

A great hotel. From first impression to check out, everything was as expected. It was immaculately clean, the pool and spa were excellent. The walk to the sea front was a pleasant 20 minutes, passing some interesting little shops. The staff were always friendly and very helpful and polite. We must mention one particular member of the Housekeeping team (unfortunately I cannot remember her name), who was absolutely delightful, and went the extra mile, by making decorations on our bed made out of towels....it really did make the stay just that little bit special, and I'm sure it was something that she did not have to do. The breakfasts were great, almost everything one would want. (We only booked B & B). Overall, a great hotel, on a beautiful island.

Yelp
really nice place to stay. indoor pool is amazing. staff is nice (except wait staff). i see that buffet has pros and cons...like a cruise but they could warm food better. lots of entertainment and places to rest in the sun. dinner isn't served till7:30... so no one eats lunch on this island, just expresso and pastries. uber eats comes here in minutes....so don't worry.

Yelp
Staying In beautiful Funchal for a month to learn a new software package. I chose the Four Views Hotel for its looks and magnificent views of the Harbour. My room is large by many hotel standards being on the eighth floor with a sea view (supplement extra) its the perfect place to work and relax. The hotel has I very high standard being clean and well maintained. I'm room and breakfast, the breakfast buffet is excellent. I've also enjoyed to pool area restaurant where they serve delicious sizzling platters they have a veggi option too. Great Hotel highly recommended, friendly staff too.
