10 Exceptional Bars and Restaurants for Live Music in Phoenix | Eater Phoenix

"Although The Vig (now with six locations) has long been popular as a neighborhood watering hole and hangout — offering cornhole, bocce ball, and live music on the patio — it’s also a bona fide restaurant with an extensive menu, turning out crab and shrimp enchiladas, hot honey chicken, birria empanadas, and grilled fish. Come for live music on the first Saturday of every month, and on Friday nights from 6-9 p.m. Alt-rockers Elvis Before Noon play there often, and Scotty Johnson of the Gin Blossoms has been known to show up and join in." - Nikki Buchanan

The Best Phoenix Outdoor Dining Restaurants With Fireplaces | Eater Phoenix

"The Vig is a go-to for casual dinners in the Valley with four locations, and while each restaurant offers a great patio, the prominent fireplace at the Arcadia location is spectacular if you’re able to snag a table close by. Plus, it has a TV above it, so customers can enjoy a football game and Arizona’s crisp fall weather at the same time. To take the coziness up a level, order a big bowl of the restaurant’s legendary mac and cheese made with cavatappi pasta, three-cheese sauce, and herb breadcrumbs." - Jamie Phillis

Went to the Vig for Saturday brunch and I liked that it was not crowded at all. I sat at the bar with friends. I like that they have gluten-free options. I ordered the Breakfast enchiladas and they were delicious. I plan on going again and ordering that same dish.

The food was delicious. We started with some drinks. My wife ordered the Strawberry Fields and I ordered the Huss Vig Ale. Both were great and refreshing. The chips with guac and salsa were a perfect way to start. I’ve never had salsa like this and it was so good. They slow roast their tomatoes and combined with the other flavors it was very good without being so hot you can’t taste it. We ordered the Burgers for our mains. The Genuine Cheeseburger was delicious and the meat combination with the Vig sauce made it hit the spot. We would highly recommend. If we lived in town this would be a on our regular list to go to.

Google
The Vig Arcadia = espresso martini heaven. Seriously, the best deals in town. Plus, their happy hour is a total steal at $5 rosé and Tito’s specials all summer long? Yes, please. The indoor vibe is dark and cozy, the perfect little escape from the blazing heat outside. Oh, and those truffle fries? BRUH. Just run, don’t walk. Your taste buds will thank you.

Wow!!! This place is fabulous!!! Had an incredible brunch. Family enjoyed everything. Perfect service, food was so good. Kids had a blast.

We attended a birthday party with a group of eight and ordered almost all the main courses—everything was fantastic! My personal favorites were the Edamame with soy garlic sauce and the Grilled Icelandic salmon. The desserts were also excellent, with just the right amount of sweetness. The restrooms were well-maintained. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is due to the parking lot, which felt a bit cramped. Outdoor seating is also excellent.

Google
The Vig in Arcadia has everything you want in a great neighborhood spot. From the moment you walk in, you feel that welcoming, local bar and restaurant vibe — relaxed, lively, and full of character. The service is always outstanding. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or staying for a full meal and drinks, they make sure you’re taken care of. Great food, refreshing drinks, and a fun, casual atmosphere — The Vig is the kind of place you’ll keep coming back to. A true staple in the Arcadia community!

Google
Recommended by our hotel Very nice dining experience. Loved the outdoor patio. The pergola and the green kept the area nice and cool. Server was very sweet. Cocktails just okay, old Fashioned little too sweet and Lavender Haze too much lemon juice. Food tasty. Chips with guacamole and salsa were addicting. French Dip (meat very tender) w/ salad and veggie tacos (yummy but very messy - possibly potatos cut smaller?) .Overall, very good and would recommend.

Drinks weren't as strong as I expected but still tasty. We only got one drink each while we waited for a table across the street but this will definitely be a place we check out again! Live music was super cool too I always love that vibe and he was talented.

Yelp
Their burger was amazing I love stopping in here for lunch and follow ups on work emails, instead of the house or a coffee shop. The bar tender Niki is fantastic and such a pleasure to deal with. This is my favorite neighborhood spot in Arcadia

Yelp
Wish we had this where I live! Met a local friend here for brunch, his usual meetup place when friends come in our out of Phoenix since it's so close to airport. Nice comfortable indoor and outdoor seating areas. A lot of choices for brunch, lunch, dinner. We had one vegan who was happy with her salad, nice choices of Mexican influenced breakfasts. No hurry to have to leave so we really enjoyed our time there.

Yelp
First time at this Vig! I got the French dip which was pretty good just a little fatty, but overall great flavor. My wife got the chopped chicken salad which she loves and always gets when she goes to The Vig. For dessert we got the butterscotch bread pudding and it was epic!! So delicious I wanted to order a second! Service was good. Had to ask for a refill of my drink but the waitress was nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice spot for lunch! Chill vibe, very nice servers, yummy food. The portions were pleasantly large too. The blackened rockfish tacos were pretty good and filling.
google avatar

Yelp
If I could give the grilled chicken chopped salad from the Vig more than 5 stars I would. I absolutely love this salad! On my most recent visit I also got to try their rigatoni Bolognese and it was also really good. Since I was with 2 friends we decided to share a dessert and we got the butterscotch bread pudding. Dear lord is that good! We did not have a reservation on the Thursday night we visited but we were able to snag 3 seats at the bar and avoid waiting for a table. I will absolutely be back again and again for the salad and the bread pudding. So so so good!!
google avatar

Josie R.

Yelp
I'm a regular here so felt like I had to post this! Love coming here when the weather is nice and hanging outside on the nice patio. Everything here is delicious, and they have the best salads in the area. Highly recommend the chopped chicken salad.
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food and atmosphere overall. The outdoor seating is really nice and this is a great spot for coworkers or for friends. Parking was pretty easy overall too and the staff was friendly and fast enough. I'd come back again for dinner!

Yelp
Amazing!! It was my first time trying The Vig while a family member was in town visiting and it was a great spot. We opted to sit on their patio since they had the misters going it was perfect temperature, super comfortable and relaxing all while it was still 103 degrees outside. Our server was amazing and accommodated us when we wanted to switch to sit outside. He gave us great recommendations and was super helpful. We decided to each order an aperol spritz which always hits the spot, paired with calamari to start. The sauce that came with the calamari was so delicious. For our main we shared their "Genuine Cheeseburger" the vig sauce that came on it really made the burger. We paired it with sweet potato fries which were also so yummy. Will definitely be going back to this location!

Yelp
We sat at the bar and had a wonderful meal. Cocktails were delicious. Anywhere that serves Noble Bread you know will be good. Fun lively atmosphere.

Yelp
THE BHAN MI SLIDERS! Whoa. What a delightful American spin to my favorite Vietnamese sandwich by through it on a light semi sweet dinner roll. WOW. And the rockfish tacos were SO fresh with an amazing crunchy slaw on top to send it over the top. Everything is so flavorful and seasoned well. The staff was all very smiley which was very refreshing to see and the outdoor seating is gorgeous with a tree growing through the center of the patio and completely shaded around it. We will be eating here again very soon.

Yelp
Great food. Great atmosphere. The drinks are strong and good, perfect drinks. The service is fast and friendly as they can be, it's great. Everything is great here, I have never been. I just got the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. Awesome...

Yelp
Such a good vibes kinda place! Food was really good! My husband had the shrimp tacos and he rated it 10/10! I had their chicken chopped salad and it was delicious! Our server was really nice and attentive. They a few items for kids. My son got their chicken strips and he really liked them. They were nice and juicy! We would def go back! I want to try their pork tacos!

Yelp
Great ambience, great service, really good food! We came on a particularly hot day so we were mostly alone in the restaurant lol. We were seated immediately at a booth near the bar. We ordered: - Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich w/ sweet potato fries: the hot honey wasn't as hot as I would've liked and was hoping for a bit more crispiness on the chicken, but overall pretty good! - Genuine Cheeseburger (subbed a Veggie Patty) w/ sweet potato fries: not to be dramatic, but I think this might be the best veggie patty I've ever had. Great texture, great flavor, and held up well. Would eat this over and over. - Butterscotch Bread Pudding: dense, but delicious! Ask for an extra scoop of ice cream though because you'll need it. The portion of bread pudding is huge! Would definitely come back on a less hot day to enjoy their patio!

Yelp
Love this location. First time visit for brunch. Glad we did. Variety of choices on the menu. comfort food with a very creative twist. People were super nice and the restaurant was clean and well appointed. We dined on the patio with misters. Very comfortable, with a huge tree providing ample shade and ambiance. Had the Birria beef empanadas w hollandaise. Delicious. Others had the hot chicken sandwich, Turkey club, and avocado toast. All well portioned and delicious. And fairly priced. We started with the cinnamon rolls. Loved the cream cheese frosting. Could have been a bit warmer. With the frosting melting over the roll. It was presented in a cast iron skillet. Noted by the food runner as very hot. But that was not the case. Overall good and would order it again. Some noted that the mimosa was not as potent as they'd hoped. I didn't have one, so I can't verify the amount of champagne to oj. Overall ann excellent experience. Will be back for other meals now that we have discovered, The Vig.

Yelp
Jasmine was an awesome server! The bar manager is awesome too! We had our holiday lunch there this week and it was so much fun. The food was so yummy. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the brussel sprouts salad. The shrimp was a little too salty and some of the brussel sprouts weren't fully cooked, but overall it was a tasty meal. We had 2 birthdays so they brought out this amazing looking butterscotch bread pudding. I wish I could have tasted it but I'm on a weight loss challenge. Everyone loved it though!

Yelp
Great neighborhood staple! Immediately off the bat, it's off a main road with some parking but not a lot. Vibes are modern and moody with a dark ambiance inside and brighter seating on their open outdoor section as well. Weather was great today but they clearly have a lot of curtains to prevent it from getting too hot (or try to). Drinks- hubby had the daily mule special which was a cucumber kiwi tequila drink. Delicious, refreshing, crisp. I tried three different cocktails- all delicious. Overall, expect drinks to be $14-20 each. The cocktail with melon liquor was my favorite (with edible flower in pic below). The watermelon one was more sweet so I wish it had some chili salt or something to offset it but still tasty. The bennet and bubbles drink in champagne glass had fresh lemon juice and was very tasty. Drinks were pricey but worth it. Food- shishito peppers were AMAZING. That chili garlic sauce is so, so delicious. I wish I could put it on all my vegetables. Not spicy. Excellent app for us not feeling too hungry. After all the cocktails, we also indulged in the butterscotch bread pudding- delicious. The butterscotch added almost like a caramelized glaze. Tasted similar to monkey bread for this reason. Bit of ice cream on top paired very nicely. Service was a little slow, but our waitress had great recommendations. Excited to go back for a girls night or date night!

Yelp
When you feel like having a truly amazing Sunday Brunch experience - one that tickles all your senses - look no further than The Vig! We sat outside on the covered patio with our well behaved dog (BIG PLUS for this dog lover) and enjoyed a tingly spicy Bloody Mary along with the steak and eggs and the empanadas. Now, let me tell you, this drink and meal alone is worthy of its own five star review. However it was even better! Our ears were treated to the spectacular voice of Daylon Greer, of Elvis Before Noon. Song after song that you know and love! And if you don't know the song yet, you're going to love it after today! Thumbs up all around. Can't wait to come back and enjoy an afternoon of Elvis Before Noon!!

Yelp
Good spot for lunch! The grilled chicken wings were delicious! The chicken sandwich was good. I just would have liked it a bit more crispy. Which I can request next time. Parking is easy and the ambiance was good. The bartender was nice. We will return one of these days to the area!!!! They have a great patio!!!
google avatar

Joey M.

Yelp
Me & my girlfriend visited the Vig for the first time, and wow!!! We got the French dip which melted in your mouth, & the Mac and cheese which is to die for. The patio area is gorgeous with low lighting and lots of greenery. Our server Rachel is really what made our experience amazing, she was kind, cheerful, very attentive, answered all of questions, made amazing recommendations, & definitely made us want to come back!

Julianne K.

Yelp
My friend and I came in an hour before close (which I hate doing) but Yeli still gave us great service! She helped me pick between the entrees I was debating and made some good suggestions.
google avatar

Stefanie B.

Yelp
This location is always a hit! The outdoor seating is the best! The service has always been great and the food delicious!! They changed the menu a few years ago and took off the pad thai ... I wish they would bring it back.. it was SO good!!
google avatar

Vivian S.

Yelp
Love the happy hour here. One of my favorite dishes is the pozole. The outdoor ambiance on the weekends is also 10/10!
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
Lovely place. Prices are pretty high, but food quality is great. Our server was exceptional and went above and beyond. Lovely outdoor patio seating when weather is cooler. Good option for a date night. Only major drawback for me was required valet parking. I just don't get it, nor do I want it.
google avatar

Steven K.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick drink or happy hour. We love this place and the bread pudding is to die for!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome little spot :) no complaints . I had the burger, and my wife had the rock fish tacos . Simple food, but with all the flavors.

Yelp
I met my brother and sister-in-law, who were in town for a company meeting and staying at the Arizona Grand Resort in South Mountain, Arizona. We decided on The Vig Arcadia location Friday night. Our table was outside near the fireplace and the atmosphere was wonderful. There was a young man who was singing. He was perfection, and lots of family and dogs were in attendance which made the atmosphere even better. We all had wine and a charcuterie board for appetizers, and then decided on the steak entrée And pasta, Bolognese and steak salad. All of them were delicious. Our waiter was wonderful. He made great suggestions he was patient and let us just stay and talk for hours. It was a wonderful night. I highly recommend the location for the ambience and the food!
google avatar

Yelp
Galpal & I met for late lunch/early dinner, so we had our choice of seating. Fireplace was roaring & beautiful ~ chose a table near the patio. Server was delightful - funny guy, so we bantered a bit. Friend had wine, I had *the perfect* Lemon Mule!! Just the right fizz, just the right kick ~ excellent! She got a burger & fries, I got the blackened fish tacos. OMG the avocado/cilantro sauce was incredible - and the perfect compliment for the 3 street tacos, overfilled with pieces of tender fish, slaw, & red onion. I substituted fries for black beans, and they were served hot & crispy. We virtually wolfed down every crumb!!! Food & Drinks were Top Shelf; Service was Grade A+, and the ambience was perfect for our little visit. Thank you Vig ~ you never disappoint!
google avatar

Bob P.

Yelp
This location compared to others is really lacking. Food quality, poor atmosphere, poor, Ordered the most popular item honey chicken sandwich over cooked dry, and a mess Totally disappointing experience.
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
We last visited The Vig in 2007, shortly after they opened. This was the original location. We moved away and recently returned to Phoenix. The service was prompt and friendly, my French Dip was one of the best I've ever had--very tender beef and a nice au jus that some places tend to just overly salt for flavor. Husband's happy hour sliders were meaty and flavorful for a mere $6. Cocktails were inventive and tasty. See you again soon!
google avatar

Jack F.

Yelp
Best neighborhood restaurant in Arcadia. Haven't had a an item on the menu that I didn't like. Great atmosphere and waiting staff is always on their game. If you want a good meal and great service this is the place to go. Love the wings, chopped salad, fish tacos, and might have the best pozole I've ever had. You can't go wrong on the menu. Don't sleep on the queso.
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
I love the outdoor patio at The Vig. The food has a unique twist to it; I ordered the chicken sandwich and salad -delicious. We also ordered the cheese dip - we ate all of the dip! Their corn chips are a nice thick & delicious cut - a great pairing with the dip. Our server was attentive and timed her check-ins well. Overall - we had a great visit.
google avatar

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Ate here with some girlfriends for a nice evening out. Food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant but it was freezing inside. They had the doors open and it was way too cold. All of us kept our coats on the whole time and at multiple times we commented on how cold we were. Our server was nice and our food took a little longer than expected (we didn't even notice because we were talking and enjoying our company) but she gave us a free dessert to enjoy for the wait. Overall I would go back but hope it was warmer inside.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Great food and even greater service. I was there last night w a group of five and the service couldn't be better. The service was more of a team effort with not only our server but the manager and other servers serving us as well. Didn't hurt that they all had great attitudes and smiles!! The food was outstanding! I stayed w the Happy Hour menu and had sliders and tacos. Ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they did not disappoint. Do not hesitate to dine at the The Vig - Arcadia.
google avatar

Jaquay R.

Yelp
The Vig is my new favorite restaurant. They have both my favorites...a delicious chicken sandwich and onion rings. OMG sooooo good. I love everything about the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The size, the amount of sauce, the flavor, the portions size, the pickles, sauteed jalapenos(was an add-on) no cole slaw. It's the best. And the onion rings are fresh cut made in-house with a light flaky batter. I'm in-love.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
I think the Vig in Arcadia will always be a community staple. It's a great location and the area is big enough and not cramped. Parking is a little scarce but that's normal for anywhere in Arcadia. They do have valet. I've been to the Vig quite a few times over the years but I most recently went for brunch for the first time. I ordered the pork chilaquiles, amazing flavor! I had actually never had chilaquiles at all before so I was thrown off by all the fried tortilla that was slightly soggy, not a fan of that but I didn't know. But my friend and I still loved the flavor they had! My friend ordered the eggs Benedict and loved it. The brunch was good! I would go back and try something else next time but would definitely try it out again.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Went with a group of 12 for my brother's birthday, excellent choice for a large party. Front of the house was super accommodating and patient as we worked through a final head count. Our server was absolutely on point, didn't miss a beat. Per usual the food was delicious. No attitude on the split check and of course one of the best patios in the valley.
google avatar

Kimmy S.

Yelp
What a great spot for dinner!! We went on a Friday and sat outside. I loved the ambiance and felt like I was in a hidden garden. The food was also tasty (we all got the fish tacos) and service was really great! We will be back!

Daniel W.

Yelp
Service was phenomenal. Food was insanely expensive for quality that was comparable to a dive bar.
google avatar

Tarry B.

Yelp
I wouldn't say this is my favorite brunch spot at all. The coffee cocktail was delicious but the food was boring. We had the bacon app and it was just fat. We had the cinnamon roll and it was cold. I ordered the croque madam and it wasn't good. I'd only go for happy hour next time
google avatar

Omari D.

Yelp
The outdoor patio seating in March/April is perfect here. With the area exploding with new restaurants every month, this has become a solid staple when in the area. On a Saturday early eve, we got lucky and probably just missed the crowd. The Vig Burger remains a classic and this time around we also had the Hot Crispy Chicken sandwich (Nashville style is not a trend, it's a way of life for some haha) and ventured off the beaten path and I went with the Steak Frites. We sat on the couches so a bit more effort when it comes to eating at your knee level, but it didn't' change anything as far as our experience. Staff was masked up and kudos to the young man who was on top of removing dishes and cleaning tables. Best I've seen during the pandemic. Mask are required but like many places, once you're seated, it's a wrap. People were placing masks when leaving the tables (to leave or bathroom) and that's appreciated, but that can change at any time.
google avatar

Jaclyn G.

Yelp
We enjoyed lunch here. I got a Brussels sprouts salad with shrimp and a spicy cocktail that hit the spot. Service was great. It wasn't too crowded and had a cozy feel.
google avatar

Krissy L.

Yelp
Very good! Great atmosphere out on the patio! Good service and excellent food. The shrimp tacos were good but a little much tang to the habanero sauce. The chips and salsa were excellent. And the cheeseburgers were delicious and the fries you can tell are homemade! A little pricey but you pay to be in Arcadia. I love it and would go back!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
My burger was amazing but the real treat was my server Jessica. She was fantastic!! 10/10 will definitely be back
google avatar

Mandi H.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and went over a week ago. It was happy hour and I had a Salty Dog cocktail and we shared the Calamari. It was so good and service was amazing also. Definitely will be back!

Mae B.

Yelp
People were lines outside for Brunch & Sip, had the opportunity to dine at both and the Vig is better!
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
The American Legion, post 44 Scottsdale made reservations for 18 officers to have a dinner party two months in advance. When to confirm reservations on a Monday for a Friday night Dinner. they had given the room away to a bigger party. I wouldn't recomend this resturaunt because the managers apologized and said we did take your reservation but the owner had a bigger party and switched it on us and we had no idea this happened. and there is nothing ew could do to correct the situation
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Came here to watch the basketball playoff and some dinner. The staff were nice enough to put the game on since no one else was watching the TV anyway. The outdoor patio area is comfortable and although it was about 100, the mister fans made it incredibly much cooler and comfortable. The staff were mostly attentive when i arrived and made my first order of the happy hour street tacos which were delicious. An hour later my waitress informed me she was leaving for the evening and asked if she could close out my tab and another waitress would take care of me, which was perfectly fine. No other waitress checked in with me after that. I eventually flagged down one of the other staff to place an order. I did order the turkey club and it was delicious, the fries were cooked perfectly as well.

Vance H.

Yelp
The sammies were fire, from the bahn mi sliders to the pastrami, as well as excellent service. Nikki took great care of us and was willing to humor me when I asked for a "refreshing but not spicy" cocktail and she didn't disappoint. Bar is super pretty and they have an awesome outdoor space.
google avatar

Angel G.

Yelp
Ordered my favorite, pozole, from the Vig only to find out that they still charge $20 (adding tip) but what's now for half the serving size. I was told over the phone the serving size was the same. I found out upon arrival that I was told incorrectly. Heads up if you didn't know and are HUNGRY. If you want a big bowl of pozole I recommend going to The Market down the street!
google avatar

Ari Y.

Yelp
The VIG does a great job with their menu and hiring great staff. They had closed off their outdoor seating to still be able to use the space but not have to sit in the cold or rain. The honey hot sandwich is always a must here. They have a great chopped salad and their beef braised sandwich looks heavy but isn't too heavy at all.
