18 Perfect Phoenix Restaurant Patios for Dining Alfresco

"Relax and unwind at the Vig, where customers can sit outside by the fireplace, enjoy live music, or play bocce ball. Upbeat and nostalgic (Trivial Pursuit cards are on the table for quizzing pleasure), the Vig’s menu features casual food to match the atmosphere: think rockfish tacos and a top-quality cheeseburger. Complement the meal with a Bennet & Bubbles — a drink with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, rhubarb bitters, hibiscus syrup, lemon, and sparkling wine. The Vig has four locations around the Valley." - Mcconnell Quinn, Nikki Buchanan, jamiekillin, Rudri Patel

Went today with a friend and ordered the pozole. For the price of the bowl, we expected a full bowl as we have received previously, but instead we were given maybe a quarter of what we normally would. The meat was hard and there hardly any hominy. Our waitress was super sweet and did what she could but management's offer was to charge us for an additional bowl. Keep in mind, management never came over once to check in or offer anything to make the experience better. We frequently come here for the food but today we were quite dissapointed. We were also told that the filling of cabbage and onion help to fill the bowl but that should never be the case when you're spending $18.

We came in for an early dinner and appreciated the heads up that service might be slower since they were short staffed. The enchiladas were amazing, the pesto pasta tasted great but needed more chicken, and the posole was way too salty to enjoy. Drinks were tasty though, and overall the food had some real highlights worth coming back for.

Google
absolutely the best place i have ever been too! super filling! the service is so great and the staff is so friendly. the atmosphere is great. kind of a casual speakeasy place. my boyfriend got the mac n cheese and i got the roasted pork tacos. really filling food and such a great place. will be coming again !!

Google
The restaurant was very clean, and had a refreshing scent of oak near the bar. The food was fresh and clearly made to order with the chicken sandwich being hand breaded and fried perfectly in store. Food quality was top tier. Staff was quick, polite and very fast to get orders in and ensure they were up to standard. Would recommend and will go back. If busy watch for parking issues as there is not too much, though to no fault of the establishment. 5 stars all around.

Google
They used to have veggie tacos on the menu. They just updated their menu around June 2025 and have dropped the vegan friendly entree. I asked the server if they still offered it and he was able to put in the order for me. The menu doesn't offer much for vegans and I would have been in jam had he not been able to do that for me. I'm thankful for his flexibility and hope in the future there is something I can eat when hanging out there.

Google
We flew into PHX and saw this close to our Airbnb. Fantastic find. Of all the years of coming to this city, this was a golden find. Food, service, ambiance, misting fans, cute neighborhood cat, staff, drinks—-all of hit, perfectly executed. Fans keep things cool and bugs away. Service from Naomi was flawless and she knew the menu very well. Highly recommended; will return for sure.

Google
It’s a beautiful location and when the weather is nice it’s a really beautiful dinner spot. The food is good I got the Mac and cheese and it was very good

Google
Absolutely loved my lunch date here. The office ladies came here, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere is such a nice touch, low lighting, decor, and dark colors, I appreciated it all. The food was good, especially the truffle fries. I've been on a French dip sandwich kick lately, and I wasn't really impressed with mine here, but it wasn't bad at all. I may prefer stronger flavors than most. The team really enjoyed their meals and I would love to come back after work for some drinks.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Vig. Party of 23 dined here recently and the process from making a reservation to being seated, to ordering, to keeping tabs separated, to the food and service ...everything was excellent. We all had a variety of dishes from the stem frites, enchiladas, tacos, pasta...all were a hit. The apps were also enjoyed. Definitely recommend this restaurant...add to your rotation today!

Yelp
The Vig is always a hit for a nice lunch. On today's visit we sat inside even though the patio is very inviting, it was a very hot summer day! We started with drinks, I had the blackberry smash, not too sweet, refreshing with bourbon and blackberry puree.. yum! They have a great lunch, happy hour and a regular menu. There is something for everyone. I had the Thai noodles.. sorta like pad Thai. Delicious and filling. Service was on point. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I had a colleague meeting me recently at the Arizona State University Downtown Campus, and we decided to go for a short walk to The Vig Fillmore for lunch a few weeks ago. We arrived and learned about the menu specials for lunch. We noted the starters, soups & greens, sandwiches, tacos, brunch options, entrees, dessert, kids meals, and many drink options. Since we were working, we stuck with the lunch specials that are available on weekdays from 11 AM to 3 PM for only $14. They included an entree (Genuine Burger, Chicken Sandwich & Side, Asian Chicken Salad, or Pozole) and drink. We both chose the Chicken Sandwich lunch specials. I got mine with a side salad and lemonade. They were delicious, a bit smaller than a typical dinner portion, but certainly something I'd consider again over lunch. The Vig Fillmore is in the historic part of Downtown Phoenix with a large, shaded patio along with some indoor rooms, too. As it was a record-breaking day when we were visiting, we opted to sit indoors. In addition to plenty of outdoor seating which is shaded and cool, there are limited seating right by the front door where we sat along with other indoor seating that I have yet to experience. The service we received was wonderful plus they weren't too busy being lunchtime in the middle of the week while ASU was still in summer mode. The Vig is part of the Genuine Concepts restaurants and have been around since 2006. Other Genuine Concepts include Campo Italian Bistro and Bar, The Genuine, The Little Woody, The Womack, and The McMillan Bar and Kitchen (in Flagstaff). There are currently seven The Vig restaurants with an eight opening in Paradise Valley in the near future. The Fillmore location is open Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 11 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 10 PM. You can make reservations for lunch or dinner (or something in between) for The Vig Fillmore at OpenTable or on their website. They also host private events and catering, and you can place online orders through their website. You can read more about all of this and sign up for their e-mail list at https://www.thevig.us. I also heard great things about the happy hour (which I think I may have visited a few years ago with friends). I certainly look forward to returning again to this location as well as when the location at the PV opens up soon.

Yelp
Came for a friend's graduation/birthday and we were sat outside on the patio. It was a nice vibe, but the food wasn't anything special for me. I'm not a fan of places that have burgers for $15+ and pricey mac n cheese. The texture of the mac n cheese was good, but there wasn't much flavor there for me.

Yelp
We got to the restaurant for an early dinner around 5pm and were told they were short staffed and service will be slower than normal. I'm definitely appreciative when a server gives us that warning as we can decide to leave or stay committed... which of course we did. As for the food: Enchiladas-5/5, I haven't had enchiladas in a minute, but definitely will come back and it's perfectly filled with chicken, sauce, and topped with a bunch of toppings. Pesto pasta- 4/5- great taste full of basil and garlic, but lacking chicken. Feels like there was only a sprinkle of chicken Posole - 2/5- it looks good when it came out, but OMG it was salty galore. I thought adding lime would help, but after 5 slices ... I'm like, not worth getting high blood pressure for this As for drinks, forgot what we ordered, but it was good.

Yelp
This place is hidden but a beautiful place to eat & drink. This vibe reminds me like CA. I loved it. My first time trying the espresso martini. It did not disappoint. It was delicious and on happy hour. I will go back for this drink . The cheeseburger slider was a hit. The calamari & shrimp was good. The shrimps ere small, but tasty. The parking was on the streets which I was not a fan of, but luckily I got good parking. It says private lot but I'm not sure where that was at.

Yelp
The food tasted great and was cooked well. The server was on top of things and friendly. I really liked their Pineapple Sunrise cocktail. I had the pozole soup which was a pretty solid version. I've had more flavorful versions but this was still better than some I've had. The bread pudding was probably the most underwhelming thing I ordered. Nothing outstanding but nothing bad about it. I liked the patio and inside options for dining.

Yelp
I was invited to meet friends here. This location looks small on the outside and large on the inside! I ordered the steak frites cooked to medium. It was cooked to medium rare, but the quality of the steak was melt in your mouth quality! The fries that came with it were perfectly cooked, nice and crispy!! And the greens, broccolini was so good!! I also ordered the crème brûlée cheesecake... like how could you not... amazing, tasted amazing! This place wasn't bad nice and cozy feeling. Very comfortable. I'd definitely come back. The menu is limited though, which explains how they're able to make everything so good! I'd come back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks were great! Espresso martinis are hit or miss for me, and this one was pretty good. I also got an extra dirty martini with gin and that was also pretty good. The truffle fries were ok, the sliders were good. (Not pictured, pretzel and wings) the pretzel was ok, I was not a fan of the cheese. The wings were amazing! The ranch and blue cheese with it were also really good. It's a cute location, there's decent space, their patio area is also super cute. I definitely want to come back when it's not as hot. The service was ok... the tables were sticky when we sat down, so was the table next to us. The waitress also cleared our plates and we were still working on our food. Overall, not terrible, I really enjoy the different locations in the valley. Vibes wise, this might be the cutest location.
google avatar

Bren T.

Yelp
Came here last weekend and the place is super cute! Had reservations for 4 and got seated inside by the bar. Disappointed with the table, it was a bit too tight and had to really try not to kick people that sat across from you. Food came out pretty delicious! Started with the crispy calamari and shrimp and it was very flavorful! We also tried the Pozole Soup yum! Then we ordered the Pastrami Reuben and it was delicious! We also ordered the New York Steak Frites and steak came out perfect temperature! We also ordered the Honey Hot chicken sandwich which had a good flavor too! Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu!

Yelp
We really loved everything about The Vig! The restaurant has an awesome atmosphere with its huge patio and cozy indoor space. We sat outside and it was a perfect day to be on the patio. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. We got everything pretty quickly after ordering and she kept our drinks filled. We got our meal started with some chips and salsa with guacamole. It's hard to go wrong with that. I got the reuben sandwich and loved it. The sandwich was super tasty and the mountain of fries served with it really did make the meal even better. Parking can be a challenge at The Vig as there's just street parking. Something I might try to do is go south of Fillmore. I've never had good luck north of Fillmore on the neighborhood side by The Vig.

Yelp
Came in alone for lunch around 3 PM. Was quickly seated at the bar inside. Lucky for me happy hour was going on. This probably has to be one of the best happy hours in Phoenix. The portions are good size and there's lots of options to choose from. The service was quick and friendly. I totally recommend stopping by!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch before watching the WNBA Finals at Mortgage Matchup Center. We ordered calamari, nachos, salad, steak and a hot chicken sandwich. Enjoyed the nachos and calamari, my friends loved the flavor of the steak and the dressing on the salad. My hot honey chicken sandwich was kind of a miss, nothing hot with the sandwich that I got. Our server was also not the greatest and it seemed like she was inconvenienced when my friend asked for A1 sauce, which they didn't have or asking for a receipt after we initially said no receipt-- which she said she had no way of printing one after we said no. Weird but maybe that's how their system works.

Yelp
Great service. I wasn't fond of the regular menu but the brunch menu had tasty bites on it. I decided on the chorizo burrito and added bacon to it. I was glad I did because the chorizo and potatoes were a bit mushy but the crunch of the bacon broke up the mush monotony. It was served super hot and fresh and the salsa it came with had a nice kick to it. Definitely recommend, flavorful and great atmosphere! Also the hostess that sat us was amazing!

Yelp
Love this place! Stumbled across it and didn't realize what a gem franchise it is. Staff were lovely, food was fantastic, dj on the Saturday was awesome, ambience was everything! I was initially surprised that they didn't have changing tables for babies but the staff saw me walking in with my kids and personally directed me to the additional bathrooms with change tables on the hidden spot of the restaurant. I thought that was excellent service .

Yelp
This place is absolutely ADORABLE!!! Myself and my girl friends visited on 4th of July, since we had the day off. Made a reservation for 11:45am and we honestly would not have had to make one, but we had not been here before so better safe than sorry. The outside is super cute but it was over 100 degrees, so unfortunately did not sit out there but would love to come back and try the patio. The inside has such a warm and inviting vibe and the wait staff was so friendly. Had the Happy Hour Espresso Martini which was delicious and the Mac & Cheese with pork, which I could not finish but I sure took it home as it was so tasty. Will definitely be dining here again.
google avatar

Molly W.

Yelp
Post dinner-date drinks at the Vig was a vibe. The outdoor area is lovely with plenty of lights and open space. We enjoyed our cocktails at the bar, though none was anything to write home about. Next time, I'd stick with ordering a beer.
google avatar

Yelp
Great & affordable place! There is outside/inside seating. Located in a great area of Phoenix, nearby bars and Van Buren. The service was great, got seated quickly and very polite. Now the food, SO GOOD! Affordable prices between $15-25 and drinks are good too!

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal and experience at The Vig - Fillmore! Beautiful location ... it's designed such that once I walk through gate I'm almost transported out of the city! Wonderful garden seating area if you're waiting for a table with well cared for lacquered wood Adirondack chairs! We opted to sit in the garden/patio rather than wait for an inside table. Even though we're now in the triple digits in Phoenix, the lush vegetation, sun shades, misters, and fans made our evening on the patio quite comfortable. So many yummy choices on the menu. For an appetizer, we shared the humus. It was delicious! I want that recipe! The veggies were generous and fresh, along with perfect pita triangles. Ice Ice baby ... the water brought to the table was great... often restaurants don't serve filtered water, a pet peeve of mine. Thank you Vig for doing so, and as requested.. we got large glasses full of ice to keep the water cool and refreshing! I know, reviewing water at a restaurant? Now you know! Debated several menu options, but Kim, our server, helped us narrow down our selection. Both of us went with the poblano chicken enchiladas. Wow! I enjoyed them so much! Three corn tortillas (they seemed home made!) generously stuffed with chicken tinga, smothered in a delicious poblano cream with Oaxaca cheese crumbles, radish slices, roasted corn, and pickled red onions. My only complaint (tongue in cheek) - more onions! I love how the mild pickle contrasted with the creamy poblano sauce! The only thing better than the Service, ambience, and food, was the amazing time and conversation with my dining partner. It was so peaceful out on the patio, conducive to a great conversation! I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Parking: saw a lot of street parking. Pretty sure they had a parking lot but i walked to it so can't attest to the parking situation. Service: usually never a long long wait. But light waiting is expected especially if you want the outdoors for dinner. Our staff didn't seem to know as much about the menu or wasn't very confident in recommendations but still great service overall. Food: I got the tacos. Great flavor. A bit on the smaller portion size for the price. But my happiest purchase was the pretzel! Nicely baked outside but still soft and amazing on the inside.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for first reservation at 10am. Service was spectacular. We did the bottomless brunch and we never were thirsty. Food was really good. Had the vig burger and pizole and both were solid. Ambiance at this place is legit it's a 1914 house converted into a restaurant. Definitely recommend this place would go back. This place deserves a higher rating.
google avatar

Yelp
My son and I took my husband in their yesterday for Father's Day. We had the Father's Day Special. It was coleslaw, half rack pork ribs, 2 pork sliders, sweet potato fries and street corn (Elote). We had the bottomless Mimosas and Margaritas. The special was delicious. It exceeded my expectations. It was worth it. It should be served as a Brunch special or even as a Father's Day special/Fourth of July special. Who ever thought of this special, it was an excellent idea. Great combination! Thanks.
google avatar

Yelp
This was our party's first time trying out The Vig, and it was very good! The ambiance is nice, and it wasn't very noisy for a Friday night, even by the bar. We ordered the Thai Noodles. The menu does warn you that these noodles are spicy, but we did not realize how spicy they really were! We ended up ordering something else instead, and without us even asking, the server graciously comped us for the too-spicy noodles.
google avatar

Yelp
To start our waitress Stefanie L was Amaaaaaazing. She made me feel like she enjoyed her job and made us feel very welcome especially with the racial climate these days she was a breath of fresh air. Very animated knowledgeable and resourceful to our every need. I cant express enough how great Stefanie was for me and my family. On top of that the food was outstanding very fresh very tasty and you can tell that the chef that created the flavors I tasted is passionate about what left the kitchen. My mind was blown by what we selected. We went around 4:30pm and left around 5:30pm on Thursday June 5th after my Drs appointment. I was thoroughly pleased and the prices were fair for 2 adults and a 10 year old child. I'm a huge fan of Mastros and experience wise and flavors I had it's up there especially when on a budget. I'll post my receipt in the pictures. Thank you for our great vibe and experience and it started with our waitress Stefanie L she's a keeper
google avatar

Yelp
We went this morning for brunch around 10:30! And was shocked to see that there was no wait and that the restaurant was virtually empty! I had their burger and my mom had their turkey club and both were delicious. We were sat in their first room. The table was a little small to be up against the wall, but it was fine for what we ordered. Overall, it was a good trip.
google avatar

Nancy A.

Yelp
What a great place for drinks and happy hour before a show or anytime. They due have a full menu as well. Service was great. We sat on the patio and shared the dishes from the happy hour menu: nachos, beef sliders, chicken tacos and pork tacos. For desert we shared the homemade apple pie with vanilla ice cream and warm Carmel sauce. Delicious!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Mary was a super friendly server... very on top of everything! And the food was good. Plenty of healthy options. Had cool music playing and a really nice vibe.

Yelp
This place was so elegant, modern feel, cozy! Their house margaritas is a must try! Shot out the waiter, he was so amazing, attentive and very help with taking a party of 8 people orders! Well definitely be back!
google avatar

Bryan F.

Yelp
Just like all the other VIGS in the valley, consistent. Food, service and drinks all great. Five stars if they cleaned the patio tables more often. Full of bird s**t.
google avatar

Madison W.

Yelp
This is a great spot, with an amazing patio. We love all the Vig locations. The pretzel and cheese is always a W. We've never had bad service, always feeling taken care of. Keep up the great work!
google avatar

Alisha O.

Yelp
3 stars for the food on this visit, but bumping up to 4 for ambiance, service, and previous experiences. Our table ordered the happy hour sliders and nachos, the bahn mi sliders, a burger, hot honey chicken sandwich, and a side of fries. The burger and sandwich got thumbs up from both diners. The happy hour cheeseburger sliders were pretty good too. The salsa with the nachos was good, but the cheese sauce on it was rather grainy. I'd have preferred melted cheese. Fries are fine. They're fries, so with some salt they were decent, but nothing amazing. The bahn mi sliders were not great. The pork belly was very tough. Our server was nice to take it off the bill, and the manager came to let me know she'd let the chef know as well. Service and ambiance were excellent, as always at this location. The atmosphere is really lovely. I hadn't visited at night before and the interior is especially cozy at night and the lights out in the patio made it really pretty. I've been here previously for brunch out on the patio and it was excellent (food and atmosphere). We'll be back and hopefully I can rave a bit more then!
google avatar

Savhana G.

Yelp
I had been to the other location and was eager to try this place when invited to a birthday celebration. The ambience is lovely and I love the vibe at this place. We had a small group of five people and the service was good overall. The food was mediocre at best, and it just didn't justify the pricing. We shared a pasta with hard noodles, and some enchiladas that were very plain and soggy lacking flavor. However, we did have some delicious appetizers and the drinks were pretty good.

Maria C.

Yelp
Tacos not worth the $ Chicken Wings really really good, crispy The Vig salad was well-dressed and yummy There were a lot of pigeons actively eating people's plates. Lol but it was funny Super fun outdoor environment with cornhole #vibes

Garbage Grabbers J.

Yelp
Did the patio is amazing. It's got a ton of misters the inside's beautiful as well. We had the wings and then some of the best wings we've had in town. Everything else looks really good and the service was amazing. Mary was great. Highly recommend for any outing
google avatar

Philicia P.

Yelp
I have zero complaints about the food, the service, the cleanliness of the Vig Fillmore.
google avatar

Brinny S.

Yelp
I felt like The Vig Fillmore was just a middle-of-the-road restaurant. They have a nice shaded patio and a cute inside, but the food seemed over priced for what you get. After we were first seated, it took a little while for our waitress to come over for service. I ordered the Vig Burger, and it tasted like a pretty standard burger. It was solid, but nothing super special about it!
google avatar

Larry D.

Yelp
Nice bar. Indoor seating and patio were nice. Service was poor. Fish and chips were awful. Came out luke warm. Very greasy. One of the pieces tasted spoiled. Very disappointing. Spouse had grilled chicken chopped salad which was okay.
google avatar

Krishen W.

Yelp
Came here on a conference to Phoenix and this was our first stop! Finding it was very tough since it blends into the buildings but there is a large sign out the front. The ambiance here is super nice and quiet, but appeared to be very family friendly. We got the large cinnamon role to start which was so fresh and fluffy! It wasn't overly sweet either. I ended up following that with the hot honey chicken sandwhich was on point - crispy and juicy with the sweet/spicy hot honey. This is a must have when here. The service was nice and friendly!
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
This is the 3rd vig we've been too. The food is great! I had the burger which the only complaint I have is don't ask what temperature I want my burger cooked when you can't cook to that temperature. Burger was still good but it's just a pet peeve. We also had the butterscotch bread pudding which is always amazing. Service was ok..... we waited 15 minutes to get water and had to ask for more twice. From what I understand they weren't planned for the concert that was playing up the street.

Megan Z.

Yelp
We had a great time at The Vig on Fillmore! Shane was our waiter and he was fantastic!! super friendly and attentive. The drinks were fun and fruity without being too sweet, which I really appreciated. The mac and cheese was amazing (we tried both the carne asada and chicken versions so highly recommend!). And this might sound funny, but the chairs were so comfortable... such a nice touch for a place where you actually want to relax and hang out for a while. Can't wait to go back!

Daniel D.

Yelp
Visited the Vig earlier today because I heard about their summer special and I wanted to check it out for the first time. promoting all day everyday 6 dollar espresso martini, margs, and Titos. I was then disappointed that my waitress told us no saying it was Monday through Friday and only espressos so we got them but clearly says in the picture it's a variety . She gave pretty average service nothing special got the job. Food is good wouldn't change a thing we just got wings , salad, and wings all great average prices. Ambience is like an outside backyard summer vibe with misters it's nice . Service changes the review a lot and feel like it affected the dining experience it could've been more warming . Average place not sure if I would come back unless it was for the soecua

Ray D.

Yelp
Oh my, we, being my wife and I have been going here for years without any issues to speak of. This location has been my wife's fave but a recent visit was horrendous. She had a dish with peanut sauce. A dish she was looking forward to but she had to leave it. I had fish which was as greasy as I've ever had. Sorry to pan this location but it has to be said. The service was prompt and courteous.
google avatar

LaTanya M.

Yelp
I've been here twice, it's okay. This visit I had the French dip with fries, my husband had the steak and truffle fries. The steak in the sandwich was really tender and the Au jus was soooo good. We stopped in before a concert. Will be back for a quick bite when downtown.

Alyssa T.

Yelp
Went next door to grab some pasta but they were closed for the summer. I decided to come into The Vig and was happy to see that they had pesto rigatoni on the menu. It was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Aside from the food, the service was fast and friendly. Mercedes was very attentive and so friendly to chat with. She provided amazing service and just radiated great energy. She truly helped make the experience above and beyond. I will be coming back!
google avatar

Sarai R.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite brunch locations the outdoors patio is amazing! The service is also great! I don't think I have a favorite plate but wings here always a good appetizer!
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
Omg! Love this place! Just loved to the neighborhood and enjoyed brunch here one Saturday. The Vig potatoes are very good, I had a breakfast sandwich that was great, monster mimosas. Service was fantastic and the restaurant is industrial and clean. I woudo say my only problem was the women's room was out of soap and 3 women told 3 different staff members and it was never filled before we left so I had to use the men's room to was my hands.

Alexx R.

Yelp
Went to The Vig for as Sunday Brunch. When our Uber dropped us off in front of a house we were a little confused. lol But once you walk up you see the host stand & the huge patio on the side. We sat inside because it was just too hot. We ordered a bloody mary & michelada, both were pretty good. A little bumed there was no bottomless but that happens. All of our food was great. Queso with chrizo was bomb, and also pretty huge, the two of is could not finish it. We both ordered tacos. My pork tacos were so delicious! The meat was seasoned really well, and I loved the guacamole served on the side. I do agree with everyone saying the service is a little slow overall though.
google avatar

Arizona R.

Yelp
Was my first time here and came for Mother's Day. The ambiance was nice as we were sat out on the patio which was breezy and well shaded. Our waiter provided great service and the food & drinks were great. Only issue was after paying and then looking at the receipt to split the tab once we were home we realized we got charged for an item none of us ordered. So my only recommendation would be to go over receipts before fully running the transactions.
