Hands down one of the best breakfast burritos in the Nation. I always come here because of that. The house sauce is really well balanced as well I highly enjoy the flavors. I also am I huge pancake lover but I never eat pancakes elsewhere because your pancakes remind me of Christmas and it just warms my heart. Thank you for having such a wonderful staff and a group of dedicated good people always working the establishment. I'm always humbly satisfied and extremely happy when I stop by. Love this bakery! I go here all the time and the only downside is they are so good they run out of the good stuff quickly but then if you go early there is a line. So literally the only down side is they are too delicious, LOL. They have vegan options here, the vegan croissants cannot be beaten. Since everything is made in-house, you can let them know your allergies and they can give you recommendations. Also, they can make any of the egg scrambles with tofu! It's not on the menu, but just let them know. Their veggie egg scramble with tofu (no egg) is seriously delicious. I also love their coffee, their lattes are just yum! I highly recommend giving this place a try even if the line is out the door! Update: still the best! You always feel like family here <3

Just had a terrible experience at this bakery. Some of the pastries I got had texture and sweetness that were off. I looked at the previous reviews and saw that they had a lot of gluten free and vegan options. Im not saying that they were bad but my pallet is not used to gluten free and vegan sweets. The problem was that none of the pastries on display had any signage with the name or price. I should have known better when I saw duplicates of the same item. Since I didn’t know the names, I had to point to each item but the cashier never brought it up that they were vegan/gluten free. Without the names, the cashier also had a lot of difficulty finding the items to charge. At this point there was a big line behind me.

I’ve gotten delivery from the Village Bakery and Cafe at least 4 times now. All breakfast options are amazing and yummy! Pastries and bakery stuff is to die for, really. I’ve been getting 2 different treats with every order and it’s so good every time!!! Def try the GF raspberry coconut bar :)

I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The staff is friendly, the food is amazing, and even the drip coffee is fantastic. It's a great spot to get holiday treats and sweets, too - right now it's October and they have so many adorable themed foods, from black cat macaroons to skeleton chicken pot pies! All their baked goods are fresh and imaginative, from their delicious baked donuts to their rosemary scones. I haven't tried a single thing from here that wasn't phenomenal.

I enjoy the breakfast options here. Pancakes were good. Oh and the lunch BLT is tasty . The portions can seem a bit small depending on what you get but on the plus side they are not trying to overwhelm you and your plate. Coffee was ok, no complaints really. The best part is (no surprise) the options in the bakery case. I also like how around the holidays they will add special seasonal items to the menu (turkey sandwiches, holiday cookies, etc)

Not only did The Village play a big part getting us through the pandemic, The Village always has exceeded my expectations. It's a great establishment with awesome baked goods and food. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. While waiting in line to place an order and when ordering, I'm always impressed by Corey's spirited, comprehensive and friendly customer service. Our family has moved on to a new alphabet journey. This time we ate doing the ABC City Fieldtrips. We started with A for Atwater Village. Our fun day began with breakfast here. We had 7 in our party and we're able to find seating at a long table for all of us. You order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. 4/5 - Assorted Goodies from the Bakery 4/5 - Mini Everything Bagel and Lox 4/5 - Pumpkin Spice Latte 2/5 - Atwater Special Breakfast: Grilled polenta cake topped with parmesan cheese, scrambled eggs, spinach, tomatoes and chopped bacon. 1/5 - Breakfast Sandwich: 2 fried eggs and cheddar cheese on a toasted challah bun. Dry. I couldn't eat more than a few bites Maybe we didn't order the right breakfast items. If we had stuck to pastries and coffee, the review would have been higher.

Went in on a weekend afternoon to grab coffee. They had several prepared foods and lots of pastries on display. Got a latte. The latte was actually pretty decent. But the service was lacking. I placed my order, paid and waited for my drink. Waited for about five minutes. There were no other customers and the workers were just cleaning or standing around so I asked if my latte was being prepared. The girl, who was just standing around was like "oh that must be your order" as she points to the order form hanging on the wall. And she goes to make it. No apologies. Also, the other pictures show that there are labels for each baked item but when I went, there were no labels so it was hard to tell what each item was.

I love the Village Bakery! And not just because it's a half a block from my house. My kids love going to the bakery and getting their cute decorated cookies and the mini bagels on weekends. I'm partial to the coffee cake and the breakfast sandwich. And the seasonal pumpkin spice latte is something I wait for all year. The staff & their service are the real standouts. They are always pleasant no matter how long the line is and are always ready to go above and beyond to take care of their customers. They give special attention to children and pets which make them heroes in my eyes. Love the Village Bakery & I know you will too!

A friend lives right around the corner and has suggested we go here for coffee on numerous occasions. I finally caved in. It's been awhile since I've had their mediocre gluten free offerings. My lemon scone crumbled at first bite and it was sickly sweet and the chai I had was the powdery kind. I did buy my teen a sprinkle sugar cookie and a Cookie Monster macaroon. He said they were alright but nothing exceptional. The staff was friendly, service was on point and the parking God allowed me to park at a nearby meter so that in itself was a win.

Hands down one of the best breakfast burritos nation wade. The house sauce that comes with the burrito is well complimenting. I love the oatmeal pancake there as well. Service is always professional and friendly. They're dog friendly as well. The atmosphere is very neighborhood and chill local vibes. My wife is Super skeptical on new places to eat and I will try anything once She went crazy with the healthy options in the bakery and breakfast/lunch selections I was worried about ordering the BLT but I had it with an extra fried egg I was seriously impressed. The BLT was awesome and I know bacon Blts. My wife loved the breakfast burrito and the chipotle salsa. Excellent food, mostly breakfast and sandos, with huge offerings in the bakery department that all look delicious. I just had the "veggie scramble" with grilled onions and veggies mixed in with Parmesan cheese... it all went beautifully on their freshly-made-daily sourdough bread toast... Ambiance-- WiFi here is pretty meh as I keep getting dropped, but other than that, the restaurant is basically one big great long dining room with communal tables and private ones along the wall. The sound acoustics are good for us writers as they don't blast out music here like they do at so-called "hipper" cafes, all making it an ideal set-up for working at. As for Service-- The friendly staff here are all young, cool, and attractive. In my two days in a row here, they are very accommodating and they make you feel special. So all three - food, service, and ambiance - are solid! A win-win-win in Atwater Village!!

Came here with some friends for mid week lunch and what a great selection of food. All my friends would of ordered the dishes over again, next time they visited. I had the Atwater special and it was perfect, did add hot sauce. We also got baked goods, the chocolate brownie and s'mores bar. Another 5 STARS for the Gluten Free items at The Village Bakery. Last time I was dying over the Orange chocolate chip scone (my absolute fav!). I normally don't leave reviews but I came in today for lunch and the ladies at the front were so kind and helpful. I had a hard time picking out what I wanted to eat and they were so kind and friendly with helping me out. I got a breakfast burrito and a matcha and will definitely be coming back to try out more things. Went back here today and it's still a three. My latte was pretty good. And I got a breakfast burrito which was not bad but very bland (not even a salt and pepper flavor but thankfully it came with a hot sauce). It came out to $23 for just those items (plus a tip) which is way more than it was worth for the taste. Not a bad spot to have coffee with someone or a decent meal. The ambiance is nice and cute and they have a couple outdoor tables (tho I find the inside cuter and cleaner).

Never ordering from this place again, I place an order through Uber eats well over 45 minutes ago and I had my mom go in to pick up the order. They attended everyone else who was white and gave them their orders but would not update my mom on the status of the order! I called well over 4 times to inquire about my order as my mom was not getting any updates from them and they were not busy as you can see from the attached photo the place was empty. This place is racist, has mediocre food and I hope this restaurant stays empty.

I had the misfortune of coming in this past Sunday to pick up food my daughter had ordered for us. I came in and asked about my order and they said it wasn't ready and I had to wait 6 mins for my order. 6 minutes turned into 45 minutes in which during that time I did not receive any update. They made sure to give other people their order since they were white while because I am Latina they ignored me. This place is racist as while i was there the place was empty and they still couldn't have the common courtesy to just tell me they didn't want to give me the food. Do not eat here unless you enjoy being discriminated against.

I ordered a decaf latte and I repeated at the register, please make sure it is decaf. I initially did not realize as it must have been watered out, but after a couple of hours I started to get sick and smelled it coming out of me. I am 200% sure that I ingested caffeine. I am super sensitive and get sick and smell it coming out of me when I went to the ladies room. So I am sure that it was the coffee making me sick and not the food. Not cool, I was excited about eating at this cafe' :(

The food is great but I wonder what they mean by "service animals only"? When I walked in this morning there were four dogs, none of which appeared to be service animals. Are they serious about the sign on the door? How do they identify "service animals"? Nobody asked any questions about these dogs while I was in there.

Food 3.5 stars, service 2 stars. I've always wanted to visit this place since I noticed how busy it gets some days. The Atwater Special Breakfast was unique but the soup I could've passed on. Paid $23 for both items. Cashier was friendly but the gal I ran into working on the floor could use some customer service skills. I ate outside and brought my plates in to be helpful, she looked at me with a serious look on her face and said "are you finished with that? For the future, we bus the tables." Brunette with her hair tied back. Try smiling and speaking to your customers better.

Village Bakery is one of those places that hasn't quite put a stake in the culinary ground of LA. Nothing outstanding or memorable here but for some reason, when I'm in a pinch and in the neighborhood, I keep giving it another shot. I think my desire to be surprised by something truly memorable renders me ignorant to the fact that inevitably, I always leave saying, that was ok. This past visit, I ordered the Cobb Salad. Fresh and basic. Not a fan of the balsamic dressing for this salad. But I digress... In the past, the buttermilk chicken was always a hit although presented in a display case vs hot out of the fryer. And the egg dishes are as expected. I'm not a bakery guy, so admittedly, this may be their strongest suit that I've yet to experience. All in, this place reminds me of the corner cafes in the village, THE village, that you meander into, order what sounds appetizing and a week later, if it were not for feeding the phone first, you may never remember the name of the place or what you ate. And for some, that's perfect.

probably the worst breakfast burrito in los angeles. humorously packed with an excessive amount of black beans and spinach. not a gram of salt or flavor. do not try the soup, its water with a floating tomato and no seasoning. the blt will shred the roof of your mouth with their stale bread. baffled how they can make food taste so bad.

I love this place! I started coming here after I discovered it earlier this year. The gluten free bread and gluten free desserts are so good! Since I have an intolerance, it's so nice that they have so many options. So far I've tried the gluten free bread (I always get one to go). I've had the chipotle chicken sandwich on GF bread (so good!), also had their GF lemon and poppyseed scones (flaky, butter and fresh), the chocolate chip cookie (fresh, crispy and delicious) and the raspberry crumble bar (so darn good!). Overall amazing! What keeps me going is the amazing service. Every single time I have gone, staff has been welcoming, kind, and just super sweet! The small things go a long way. When I've ordered food to go, sat and waited, they've brought the food to me, walked it over. I know it's a small gesture however it's much appreciated. It doesn't feel like I am in LA when I go here. There's a sense of southern hospitality and kindness. It feels like going to your favorite aunts house. What an awesome kick start to my long day ahead! The Village Bakery and Cafe is nestled in the charming area of Atwater Village and is in walking distance to fun shops, a day spa, gulf course and Griffith park The atmosphere is positive and full of warm light. The menu is easy to take in so if you don't have a lot of time and want to get in and out with having a nice out door dining experience this is the one. Corey greeted me and helped me with my selections. She was refreshing and polite, naturally inspiring greatness which is completely lovely. That sums up pretty much the essence of The Village Bakery and cafe, and it doesn't hurt that the food is exquisitely delicious. This was a memorable, relaxing and zen experience and I'm thankful I stopped in. The Village Bakery and cafe gets my personal recommendation and my FIVE STAR elite squad review!

I'm not from the area but I was in la this past weekend. I don't normal leave reviews but the service, the food, the pastries were all bad. Breakfast burrito had absolutely no flavor. I've been here before and the decorated things are usually amazing but this looked like a two year old did them and everything is expensive! We got a cake and the actual cake tasted old and dry the frosting tasted like refrigerator/chemicals. The cupcakes are even worse! The coconut cupcakes I had to just throw away because they were inedible. It's not worth it so many other bakeries in the area that are better and worth the money. Go to proof bakery it's just a street over and everything there is delicious. My new go to spot when I'm in la. They have flavor and nothing tastes frozen.

Village Bakery and Cafe has been on my list of bookmarks for the longest time. My go to bakery located not too far from Village Bakery was closed for two weeks so we figured to try this place. This bakery and cafe has quite a selection of baked goods. We tried a few items. Chocolate croissant and almond croissant. Honestly, was very disappointed. Not good at all. Lacked some sweetness and the croissant was missing that layered flakiness. Maybe, I'm just spoiled with the other places. The guy behind me recommended the fighting cake. Basically, it's an almond flavored cake topped with powdered sugar. Wasn't too impressed. Had high expectations since the guy behind me said it's his go to. I'm not gonna fight over this cake. The only item I did like was the S'mores bar. It's a cookie based bar with a layer of chocolate and topped with melted marshmallows. You definitely need to warm this baby up to enjoy the melted chocolate and warm mushy marshmallow. Overall, service was nice and friendly and were quick to serve to-go.

Everytime i am in LA I make a stop to this hidden gem for their excellent Sour Dough bread! I pick up 3-4 loaves during my visit. Love their baked goodies and tuna melt on their sour dough bread (of course!). Always friendly and high quality. I drive across town to this place as it is worth the drive for! Places like these are few and far between. Every coffee place in LA has been replaced with a Starbucks, and I could harp on that cliche forever, but this place feels different: warmer and cooler in equal parts. It's rare to find a place in Los Angeles with the kind of community that's seemed to have sprung up here. It makes sense too -- everything from the food, to the pastries, to the coffee is fantastic. Most importantly, the people who work here are a genuine delight. The staff continually goes out of their way to make things better for you, and they really don't have to. Whatever they're getting paid needs to be doubled. Highly recommend swinging through every once in a while, you won't be disappointed.
