"This kitschy but cute spot is a classic Stone Mountain dining destination. Providing visitors with every German dish greatest hit like pretzels, schnitzel, and wursts of all kinds. The Village Corner’s menu also features an array of house-brewed biers from brewmaster and owner Carl Friese, who took over the restaurant from his parents in 2013. Be sure to check out all of the Bavarian cakes, pies, and pastries as well." - Olivia Harrison

I love the atmosphere and the decor in this place!! Truly unique. The service was OK, but it definitely could have been better, ESPECIALLY in the dessert area. We waited longer to check out with our desserts than we did to get our meals!! And even that was daunting. Good thing the desserts were AMAZING. I could probably eat all the goat cheese cheesecakes in the case. It was definitely the best cheesecake we've ever had. The pumpkin chiffon tart was also unbeatable. I should've bought more of those. However, the best part of our meal was definitely the giant pretzel. The rest was very bland. The live music was fantastic and very enjoyable. And the fresh flowers were a very nice touch. Overall, it's worth a visit at least once!!

Google
Upon entering the establishment you see the bakery full of pastry & cakes. We were delighted and bought a lot of cookies, bear claws, and cake. We didn’t have to wait long before being seated for dining. I had the schnitzel sandwich with potato salad. We had a pretzel that was fresh and tasty. I tried samples of food that other people got in the group. The Reuben tasted great also. Every time we visit the food is awesome.

Google
The food is good and the portion size is adequate. The prices are reasonable. The wait time was high for us, but the service was great. They offer to change the type of meat in some of the dishes (even though it's not an available option on the menu). This restaurant is beautiful and a nice place to hangout. I recommend visiting this place.

Google
Haven't had good German food since we lived in TN. We will definitely be making this trip again. The food was delicious with massive portions and the brewery sampler was perfect for us to try a little bit of everything. Very impressed.

Google
Very at home restaurant with great food. We went for brunch on a Sunday and enjoyed the Eggs Benedict and Reuben. Very good service. This is an older restaurant that shows its age a little bit. It is a comfortable place to eat with everything you would expect from an at home German restaurant. The owners are still heavily involved in the day to day and know their regulars. Not too expensive but the food is freshly made. My daughter is looking forward to taking some of her friends back to explore the menu further.

Google
My waiter rushed us, but everyone else was amazing. Great food. I hope when I place an order 2 hours before closing time, that I'm not rushed again. I had a wonderful time there, the art and decor is super cool and I took so many pictures. I'm sorry for the one star, but I was on on date and.....yikes!

Google
Amazing little German restaurant right around Stone Mountain. After my hike with my girls with stop by here to have a late lunch and it was wonderful. Very nice staff, food came out quickly, and prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking. You also can get fresh baking food in the front right when you come in. When you are in the area must give this place a try.

Google
It was so good, I’ll come again to drink here. I ordered mimosa with OJ and it was amazingly tasty!!! $12 for unlimited drink. But the food I ordered was too sour and salty, and I don’t think it was worth it for $16.

Blair W.

Yelp
go there during German holiday live band, guy with accordion that can play anything from german music , rap , rock , soul etc festive costumes that roll over from parade in stone mountain

Yelp
Great schnitzel, very good Reuben Quiche, tomato basil soup and Waldorf salad combo is very good. Hot chocolate is delicious!

Yelp
This place is super cute!!!! Total order came to $60 Also beware they had a 4% uncharge on their check if you pay with card. Additionally we spent $24 on the bakery items (will post later) As we arrived we were immediately greeted and sat promptly by the manager. We was sat at a dirty table and has crumbs and drink rings on the table. One thing I like is that their protocol is to bring waters immediately to the table which is wonderful. Not to long after our waters our actually server came to the table and we shared that the table was dirty and wiped it for us. We decided to order the potato pancakes and I ordered a mango IPA to celebrate a whole year without alcohol after getting permission from my doctor to have a beer! :) Anyways, the potato pancakes were delicious, crispy and seasoned on the outside with a soft pillowy inside. The sour cream was plain as most places usually are but I always suggest a herby sour cream...I guess that is the chef in me. The applesauce was actually a cranberry applesauce and it was pretty great! My wife said she doesn't usually eat potato pancakes with applesauce but she did with this one. After that our server came to take our dinner order. We both ordered the chicken zitrone which means lemon. We both asked for extra lemon butter sauce also instead of the vegetables that came with it we decided to change it. I ordered it with the mashed potatoes and my wife ordered it with german potato sauce. Now let me tell you all now so you are not fooled. Our server NEVER told us nor did the menu tell us it was a $1 up-charge for extra sauce and for the german potato salad. And let me tell you how AMAZING the sauce was! WELL....it wasn't. It was nothing of "lemon butter sauce. If you look really hard it looks like its olive oil with capers sunk down in the bottom and thats EXACTLY how it tasted. It was oil and damn capers. No such thing as a lemon butter sauce. So you can imagine my frustration seeing $2 up charges on my check for sauce that was really olive oil with capers. So as bad as that sounds...it gets worse. Now being in the food Industry for 17 years I have always been taught you need to do 3 minutes, 3 bites and then check on your table....our server did no such thing. We only seen him twice. To place our app order and our dinner meal. We had to ask another server for boxes and the check. We spoke to the manager and there was not much he did for us either. Really nice place, warm and cozy its just service absolutely sucked! Also I am posting a lemon butter sauce below. Ps. Don't sleep on the bakery upfront.

Yelp
This cute little German restaurant on the corner is kind of unassuming, but so inviting. This was my second visit and each time the service has been attentive, fun and genuinely kind. The bartender Cody was so patient and helpful as we made our choices. We really only went in for a beer or two, but ended up sharing the Jägerschnitzel with German potato salad and spaetzle. It was good and they even split it on 2 plates for us. The schnitzel was thin and breaded nicely, but I wish there had been a lot more mushroom gravy. The star of the show was the Oktoberfest beer! It was delicious and not too malty. This place is perfect for a relaxing beer or quick fun bite to eat. They can also accommodate larger parties if you need that. They have a whole bakery section as well with pies, cakes and cookies, but I'll have to try that next time.

Hannah S.

Yelp
Drove by and decided to stop in for a pretzel and it was amazing! Giant pretzel with mustard and cheese sauce which were both delicious. The cheese had almost a jalapeño taste to it which made it so good. Inside was super cute and the staff was very nice. Everything looks good that was on display and we can't wait to be back for lunch.

Dianna B.

Yelp
Stopped in at The Village Corner while visiting friends in Atlanta. Since 2 of us are from the Tampa area, this reminded us of something we have back home. We ordered a cheese plate and our waiter didnt know what they actually were, only one we were aware of as a Port Wine cheese. It didn;t really matter, they were all delicious as was the fruit. Charcuterie, Weinerschnitzel and sausages were the food of the day and we gorged ourselves to the point of needing to take things home. We al left with full bellies and happy hearts. We definately would come back.

Yelp
Revisited a year later (thanks to a work trip) and I still give this place 1000 stars. It was a lot busier than the first time we went, but the service was still great! Food is out of this world. The inside of the place hasn't changed and I hope it doesn't! Can't wait to return again.

Shannon S.

Yelp
The Village Corner in Stone Mountain Georgia is a great spot for good food and good times so it makes a perfect party location to celebrate Oktoberfest or any other time. This place is also a bakery so they have a lot of great baked goods and desserts. I really enjoyed my sauerbraten and chicken in wine sauce I had during my two visits. The German food here is good but not always great. I did find the beer selection here to be up to par so that was a good experience. Overall this is probably the best restaurant in Stone Mountain Georgia and it seems to be a very popular spot. My video review of The Village Corner is here: https://youtu.be/dA5TJyH8aD4

Yelp
Decided to stop by while I was exploring the area. First off, parking is plenty and very easy. It is on the corner of an intersection so it's really easy to access. Staff members are great, very friendly and straightforward. This place has a bakery as well as a bar and a restaurant. I decided to sit at the bar. Service is quick and efficient. I ordered Sauerbraten, spätzle, Waldorf salad, and a honeyweizen. The beer was good, a little too much head though. The sauerbraten had a really good vinegar-forward taste, but the beef was a little dry. I was hoping it will have more of a brisket-like texture, but asking for extra gravy helped with the texture. The gravy was delicious, but a little on the lighter color side. I asked for my dessert to go. I ordered the goat cheese cheesecake, and it is delicious. I'm not sure about the crust though, because it is a little crumbly, but oh my goodness, such great flavor

Yelp
Went here after hiking Stone Mountain which is right up the road from here. Friendly service with a cozy German feel inside. Food was delicious

Alisha M.

Yelp
It's closed due to construction, I suppose. Owners must update this app to let potential patrons know.

Yelp
Coming out of Stone Mountain Park and saw this little gem just on a corner while sitting at the red light. Unanimous decision - "turn in." A bit quiet for what I think of for a German restaurant but what it lacked in festive atmosphere it made up for in quality of food and excellent waitstaff. Giant pretzel was a great start then sausage and schnitzels for the table. Flavors were all spot on. Only negative was the up charge to switch out sides. Hated I don't save room for dessert because they looked great. Prices not bad in the $17-$20 range per entree.

Yelp
Awesome food and location after a great day at Stone Mountain! Food is delicious. Fast and friendly service! Fantastic bakery! Yummy! I had the German pancakes yummy! Follow our fulltime Vanlife adventures on instagram #tinyvanbiglife

Yelp
Went here with the family to get away from the Stone Mountain park for lunch. I'll say the service was great, quick and attentive. They didn't have quite a few of the beers that they make on site. The one I tried was ok, but I am a beer snob. The pretzel was good, the main entree portions were small for what you paid in our opinion.

Amy T.

Yelp
Horrible service. Very bland food. Beer incorrectly carbonated. Don't waste your time on this restaurant

Brittany C.

Yelp
There are hidden fees around every corner. Food is mediocre, service was awful. Manager did nothing to fix any of our issues. The food from the bakery was gross. Just avoid it.

Claire L.

Yelp
The atmosphere seemed cozy, but the experience fell short due to rude service. The waitress appeared overwhelmed, rude, and unfriendly, though one friendly male waiter/manager helped improve the situation. There was also a friendly waitress in the bakery area. The food was average and a bit overpriced, with some items tasting old/and the water tasted like tap. The ambiance had charm but felt cluttered and could really use an update. Implementing even some feedback would significantly improve the place.

Dave W.

Yelp
The Village Corner is good, and one of the few German restaurants in the Atlanta area. I had the jaegar schnitzel, red cabbage, and spaetzle (see pic). The schnitzel was good, the spaetzle was okay, and the red cabbage was the highlight of my dinner. My friend had the bratwurst with side of spaetzle, which he enjoyed. The server was not too friendly, which is surprising as most restaurants are doing everything they can to make customers happy during the pandemic. We have been coming here over the years and have been happy with the food. The interior is super cool old school German style, which is really neat. Parking is ample but be careful getting in/out of the busy street out front. Stone Mountain park is just up the street and today we hiked about 8 miles inside the park and were hungry for some good food. The Village Corner accomplished that. Enjoy!

Hannah W.

Yelp
They really did make this German food German. But I wouldn't know since I've never had German food. Server had kind eyes. Not sure if the deer on the wall were German or not. My uncle said there was a German restaurant after you hike Stone Mountain and thankfully this was not another one of his manipulations. Stone Mountain wasn't very long btw, didn't even get to eat all of my Chewy bars. If they leave the dinner menu in your big menu then definitely go for the pork stew.

Annette F.

Yelp
Ordered hot tea and after pouring the hot tea, I discovered there were food particles in the tea pot. I notified the waiter immediately. When getting my bill I noticed a charge for the tea. I asked for a credit and the waiter sent over the manager. The manager denied there were food particles in the tea pot, and also chastised me for not pointing it out sooner. I was notified she would not take the tea off but would discount it. I didn't feel the need to photograph the tea pot or record her reaction. This is not a mistake that will be made at another restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Lisha L.

Yelp
To be fair, food is good here, we swing by when we visit the Stone Mountain. But services have always been subpar. And today, we realized how much they nickel and dime their customers. We were charged for hot water because apparently it takes energy to boil (but not for ice?), and they charge an extra 3.99% for credit card usage when they probably get charged 2%+ for it. We spoke with the managers about the charge for hot water and they kept on saying this is how we do things, that even though no other restaurant charges for hot water they would. We left with a pretty bitter taste in the mouth. Oh and check out this little guy that we saw while speaking with the manager. Cockroaches are common right?

Yelp
Surprisingly, this place was pretty good. I've heard it was so so. I'm shocked that it has been in business for 46 years. I overhead another waiter say that The Village Corner started out as a bakery then evolved into the restaurant side. It has definitely been around from what I can remember as a little girl visiting the area (Stone Mountain). I had the reuban sandwich; it was a sizable sandwich. I don't think I specified that I wanted the German potato salad substitute, but that was what came out at the higher of the two side options. Meh. But it was a nice stray from the usual fries. The reuban was super messy to consume, but delectable with its flavors and textures. Instead of swiss cheese, it was a saucy cheddar cheese of sorts and sauerkraut. The hubs choose the German sausage plate which you're able to choose two. We ended up with the knockwurst and frikadellen. I really liked the knockwurst as the texture was really soft, almost butter-like. Though the flavors were mild, it tasted really good. The frikadellen was them most different with it being a hamburger of sorts. This had much more aromas and flavors, it also had more sodium. There were also a heaping mound of sauerkraut, German mustard, and a bit of (crispy) potatoes. These both were pretty tasteful dishes. The food would be a 3 1/2 to 4 star experience. Though Reese, our waiter, was friendly, I just don't appreciate the slight sly deception of upcharging. If you recommend something, then just say it. We def needed more water at the end of our meal too so there goes the rounding up of my review.

Mark B.

Yelp
Absolute rudest hostess and wait staff! This is the second time my group visited this restaurant after a golf game simply wanting to have a good beer and food. It's been about a year since we returned because the service was so rude and horrible the first time, we literally walked out. We decided to give them another shot but sure enough, every single wait staff and hostess were incredibly rude and incompetent! It's really a shame because the beer and food are actually pretty good, if you ever get served. I blame management, or the lack there of, for allowing such bad customer service. Also, the place was only half full yet they made everyone wait at least 30 min to be even seated. Just horrible!!!

Benjamin P.

Yelp
The only thing related to Germany about this restaurant was the name. We ate here for lunch and from the start, should have walked out. The restaurant is in desperate need of renovations to the outside with chipping paint and lose floorboards, and to the bizarre decor inside (strange to have an 8 foot Mr Potato-head, from Toy Story, blow up doll inside of the dining room full of dusty picnic baskets lining the walls). Table cloths were obviously dirty as well and needed to be washed. We ordered two waters, potato pancakes, the pretzel, and Deutsche Platte für zwei (German platter for two). The water came out with a bit of floating paper in it which should've been our second warning . The potato pancakes were both saturated in oil and burned, and were served with a side of cranberry apple sauce (strange taste) and sour cream. The pretzel was quite hard and dry and served with honey mustard that had a large curly hair on top. The actual main dish for two that my wife and I shared was quite dreadful. It contained potatos (very undercooked and raw), sauerkraut straight from a jar, bratwurst (only decent food on the plate), a strange smoked sausage, a knockwurst that smelled poor, a Frikadellen that was undercooked, a very bland small schnitzel, and two mustards (honey mustard and an actually decent stone ground mustard) The pictures online are nothing like what was being served to us, and this restaurant is an insult to Bavaria and German cuisine as a whole. Service was mediocre and unfriendly. We definitely will not return here. I would recommend that anyone who wants a great dining experience eat at a different village corner.

Graham K.

Yelp
Stopped in after a long hike up and around Stone Mountain. One of the few German restaurants I've seen around the Atlanta area. There is a bakery on one side with the restaurant on the other. They brew their own been and pour generous amounts for about $5. We sat at the bar and the bartender was willing to pour samples. We split the 2 person meat platter which came with pretty much everything for $30. The sausages were all good, as was the potato and the sauerkraut. We didn't try the bakery so I cant speak to it, but at least it looked good. No disappointments and decent food for someplace so far out of town.

Richard J.

Yelp
My family used to live in Stone Mountain. We were going to have a reunion lunch here because it's been years since we've been together and even longer since we've been back to Stone Mountain. So I made a reservation here two months ago. We came from all over - Memphis, Athens, Cleveland, GA. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a sign at the door that the restaurant was closed for a private event. I was completely stunned. Like I said, I made a reservation two months ago. There was no email, no phone call, or no text telling me that my reservation would not be honored. I spoke to the owner, and all he could manage was a perfunctory "sorry about that". There was no accommodation made at all. The response was completely unacceptable and just pathetic. This was a complete failure.

Brian H.

Yelp
We have been here twice to eat. We have been to the bakery many times. The bakery has great bake goods! We ate at the tavern side two weeks ago. Lori got the two sausage meal and I got the Salmon with shrimp. That meal was great. The salmon was grilled perfectly and the shrimp was awesome. Lori love it. We could have eaten a double portion ( I shared). Lori said her meal was very good as well. I got some of her food. The potatoes were good and the red cabbage was good. We started off with the fried potato cakes. That was good. The service was very good. So we went to brunch the following Saturday. Last Saturday. I got the Tex Mex omelet and Lori got the apple pancakes. Very good food. We shared. We are going to return for dinner and brunch and try other items from the menu. I would recommend this place.

Molly M.

Yelp
Haven't been back for 44 years, but when I was travelling thru-I had to stop! The roads/area around the restaurant have changed but the food is still the best! We split a Platter for 2-more than enough food for a starving couple! My German food lover husband (who has never been here) really enjoyed their nut brown ale & the platter!

Mike W.

Yelp
3.5 Stars Ambiance is cool, service was good for us, food was okay. Full bar. SERVICE: When we arrived, the neighboring table complained that they had ordered an hour ago and no food or update on the status was provided by their waitress. Their food finally came shortly after we ordered ours. The gentleman waiting on us was very friendly and stopped by throughout the meal to make sure we were okay. FOOD: Our Beer Cheese Pretzel arrived within 10 minutes, piping hot and delicious. For entrees, we ordered the Rouladen (a German stuffed beef roll with sour cream gravy) and a Jaeger Schnitzel (breaded pork cutlet with red wine mushroom gravy). I usually see these with brown mushroom gravy. My brother really liked his rouladen, but I thought the schnitzel was just okay. Both meals came with a side of Bavarian spaetzel and red cabbage, which was good. BAKERY: (4.5 Stars) The onsite bakery was the highlight for me. They had a nice selection of cake, which could be purchased whole or by the slice, cookies, and other assorted treats. The staff working in this area were fun and expeditious with filling the orders. We took home several slices of cake and a few cookie items to go. The German Chocolate cake, my favorite, was amazing! Overall, a decent experience. However, I wouldn't drive too far out of my way to go. I'd definitely stop in again when visiting the area.

Marcus M.

Yelp
one star because I can't leave zero. Worst "German restaurant " I ever have been in. My expectations were really low but these clowns limboed right under them. A Schweinshaxe without skin????? Everything else mediocre at best. Their home brewed beer is a crime. Sour pathetic excuse for beer. OMG, please pit these people out of business.

Robert B.

Yelp
Food was ok and everything was fine until our server started swearing at a customer at the bar and then proceeded to go outside to the parking lot to wait for him. After about 10min we got a new server and she said she wasn't surprised like this wasn't the first time this had happened. Jaeger schnitzel was nice.

Mutima J.

Yelp
Super adorable spot! It it wasn't for the Alabama flag, I'd think I was in Germany. Well, maybe not, yet the place is still adorable and cozy. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. Very short wait time. Oh, the food!! Delicious! I absolutely recommend.

Lynda R.

Yelp
Spent the afternoon exploring Stone Mountain. We stopped in here for lunch. The decor is is pretty, lots of dark wood, definitely makes you feel you're in another country. My daughter said that it has a "homey" feel. We ordered the big pretzel. I'm usually not a fan of them because they seem dry and freezer burnt. Not this one! Everything was so good. I had the German Sausage Plate,my friend had the Gruyere Spaetzel and my daughter had the Schnitzel. Our server was awesome and I wish I had gotten his name. A great way to end an afternoon in Stone Mountain is to stop in here for a nice big beer .....and a pretzel.

Devonta H.

Yelp
This place is really goood ! The burgers are great and the fries are better than five guys. You should definitely try this place out when near by

Pascal W.

Yelp
BUYER BEWARE!!!! We were warned about this place yet we decided to give it a try anyway. The absolute worst service in the world. We walked in and decided to sit at the bar. We were forewarned that they only had two servers and they were both acting as bartenders. That was totally fine. We sat down and i immediately asked the male server how his day was going in a very polite tone. He didn't even acknowledge me except for saying "y'all are gonna have to wait" and walked away. He finally came back after a few minutes and asked "y'all know what you want" and didn't even look at us. We gave him both the drink orders as well as the food order at the same time. At no time did he ever look at us. When we finished ordering, he didn't say a single word and just walked away. At that point I told him to cancel the order and we walked out. His final words to us.... "Whatever." Whatever is right. It's sad. I bet this place used to be a gem. I feel terrible for the owners that can only find a guy like this to be the face of this place.

Heather B.

Yelp
Five stars for a delicious casual German restaurant with a solid beer list and a great patio. My husband and I were in the mood for German food and beer and The Village Corner had good reviews. It also had a large (dog friendly!) patio that was very pleasant. As far as drinks, we ordered the beer flight, a glass of banana beer and a glass of Croatian wine. The Solstice Lager was exceptional: subtly sweet with a great yeast flavor. We also really liked the banana beer. I loved that they had Croatian wine too and I enjoyed its pleasantly sour flavor. For food, we had the potato pancakes with salmon. The salmon was really good but the potato pancakes were just okay for me. For mains, I had the rouladen, which is thin sliced beef rolled around onions and pickles. It was solid! I'd never seen a dish like it before and it was fun to try. I got the red cabbage and German potato salad as my sides and they were very good. For dessert, you go inside and order separately from the dessert counter. They had a ton of good stuff and I had a great gingerbread cookie. Our server was just okay and didn't refill our waters but I could overlook this in light of everything else. Overall, The Village Corner is a great spot for German food and beer. Highly recommended.

Joe K.

Yelp
This place should close. The food is just horrible. The waitstaff tries but their efforts are wasted. I honestly believe the pork cutlets are premade and frozen. The Osso Bucco was tough and dry, sauce on the side, ha, what a joke, it was tasteless and watery. Very disappointed in this place. Like the town of Old Stone Mountain, it's old and run down.

Amy O.

Yelp
I had extremely high hopes for The Village Corner because I enjoy German food, pastries and beer. The outdoor atmosphere was chill and with appropriate spacing. Not sure if they were low staffed or this was the normal time to order your drinks and food but it took us 30+ minutes to get our drinks ordered and another 20 minutes to order our food and volume of customers didn't warrant this kind of wait. Hopefully they were just low staffed and this isn't normal. If this is normal maybe just order drinks and expect that your there for hours without food or drink refills. I expect a lot from a claimed authentic German based restaurant regarding their brats, sauerkraut and schnitzel. Unfortunately I was disappointed in the kraut, felt like it came out of a jar and lacked flavor. The Jaeger schnitzel was a bit skimpy on the cut and the mushroom gravy was not authentic German gravy. They saved themselves with the bratwurst and knockwurt, they were really good with flavor plus the mustards went well with the sausage plate. The pastries were really good! I might come back for a few more pastries. The Village Corner is a nice local spot and the atmosphere is nice.

Megan K.

Yelp
I like this place's old world Bavarian feel. It's not necessarily a place to take your friends that are beer snobs or food snobs, but I like it and their food is like comfort food to me. Their schnitzel is to die for. They've also got standard American pub food like burgers, spinach dip, etc. i love the pretzel too. I wouldn't say this place is super inspired from a culinary perspective -- they've been doing the same thing for a long time and it seems to be working for them. German food is hard to find in Atlanta. My only complaint is that while they have a lovely outdoor Biergarten, they'll rarely let you sit out there. The servers don't seem to like having tables out there, which is a shame.

Jenelle F.

Yelp
We went here for date night. Service was good, food was delicious, drinks were tasty. Prices and portions are reasonable. Average German decor. Bakery items look yummy. We would come back again

Mikel Lauren P.

Yelp
Great service and good beer! If you love Hefeweizen is a fave, then this is the place to come! Pretzel was amazing!

Shiva M.

Yelp
Very polite with a warm welcome since I came in when it was raining. I only check out the bakery section but I had the Almond Croissants and it was really delicious.

Earl T.

Yelp
Service & setting were fine. As a cook it seemed cheep cuts of pork were used to make our jaeger schnitzels, especially based on the taste of the fat & gristle mine contained.

Yury A.

Yelp
Potato pan cakes a must try. Chicken schnitzel is tasty and flavored well. Bakery sweets a must on the way out. Will be back to try other dishes

Yelp
Okay, I did it. I went back to the Village Corner, the renowned German bakery - restaurant - pub at the top end of the historic village in Stone Mountain. And I went back for a proper meal. I looked over the lunch/brunch menu and soon knew what I wanted. It was the chicken in wine sauce. The server, who was very outgoing, told me that I had made a good choice and that she also likes this dish. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the vegetables were nicely prepared, and, for the first time in my life, I enjoyed the spaetzle. In the past, friends and neighbors from the Teutonic world (yes, growing up in Los Angeles, people could safely discuss each other's nationalities and really get into it) would prepare it and it was heavier and doughier. I wasn't convinced on spaetzle. That wasn't the case at Village Corner. The pieces were smaller, tasty, had a nice consistency ... and were quickly gone. I ordered a soft drink to go with the meal. I wanted to mention that these ladies sitting across from me were into their meals. I asked one what nicely presented platter she had ordered, and it was the jaeger schnitzel, a breaded pork loin with accompaniments, and she raved about it and said she likes to come here for that dish. The inside of the restaurant is old-school German, hence similar to eateries you might visit in Leavenworth, WA. It makes for a fun atmosphere. And, since we're at about the 34th parallel, there is also a patio to eat or drink outside. People were indeed using it. I believe that the portion was lunch sized. I was not bogged down, but I always want more food when I like what I've eaten. This isn't new. However, it seemed appropriate and made for a nice lunch. Again, I've been to the Village Corner's bakery a time or two or three, but this time it was to try the eatery for a regular meal. I'm glad I did. Perhaps a person can alternate between regular meal visits and bakery visits, because the desserts are true to form and filling. At the Village Corner, it's all good.

Yelp
Well, I've finally reached my limit of disappointment. First, on my visits over the last 15 years I've always been "OK" with the restaurant. It's an eclectic journey of mixed messages and that gave it a bit of charm. The food is always "just OK" and the staff moderately competent. BUT TODAY... was the proverbial "straw" that has compelled me to acknowledge that it's time for the owners, managers, and staff to rethink, and recalibrate their business. We sat at our table after waiting for over 10 minutes before I left. Our table was passed by the two waitresses in our section at least three times each. Never did they ever... --Acknowledge our presence --Welcome us to the restaurant --Say they would be right back This is NOT just a failure of the individual wait staff, but an epic failure of the owners. I get it. They are tired. They have lost the love and passion to produce a hospitable experience. PLEASE --- admit defeat OR Wake Up. Stop using the Pandemic and the utter decimation of the hospitality industry as an excuse to run a poor business. It would serve the entire industry to have owners throw in the towel instead of run a sham of restaurant that betrays the love and care that this establishment was started to express. If there aren't any good servers in the city that you can employ, then don't settle for people without a spirit of service. Your pastry server has a "Kill All...." tattoo openly displayed to patrons. WTF. Where are your standards? There is a path to redemption, and YOU HAVE A CHOICE just like patrons that I hope will choose to NOT suffer the consequences of your current leadership. Do something; Anything to change. Even if you put a sign on the door that says "Welcome. We don't care about hospitality here, just pay your bill and leave!" That IS what you are communicating right now and it's too sad to overlook.

Yelp
We'd passed this place several times on our way to Stone Mountain and finally decided to stop in around 3 pm on a Saturday to reward ourselves for a ~6 mile hike. This place was good for what it is and does have an authentic European pub kind of feeling. We had the German Sausage plate and selected the bratwurst and smoked sausage. The latter was definitely our favorite. The brat lacked snap which was a little disappointing, but it was still good. It was served with potatoes and sauerkraut, plus mustard for dipping. We also ordered a giant pretzel to go which had both cheese dipping sauce as well as mustard. It had a nice buttery smell and taste, but was a little dry. I had a flight of beer which is a great way to try their brews. All of them were served basically at room temperature, although my bf's giant hefeweizen was perfect. Service was fast and attentive. This was a fun and unexpected place to try and we will likely return for dinner.

Yelp
Authentic German food with great service. Started with the gigantic pretzel with both sauces on the side - cheese and mustard. Delicious!Saurbraten and weiner schnitzel for our dinner. Both dishes were amazing. Finished with apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. We're not beer drinkers, but they have a large selection on tap. We sat in the tavern and had a pleasant dining experience. Highly recommend the food and the bakery.

Yelp
I ordered a cheesecake from the Village Corner for a family gathering. The restaurant was very quick to respond to my request, and the cheesecake was SO good. We didn't have a single bite leftover. We decided to have lunch at the restaurant when we went to get our dessert, and I'm glad we did. Everything we had was great. The beer sampler is a great place to start, as is the giant pretzel. The schnitzel was so moist and tender and the cabbage had a yummy spice blend on it. The warm potato salad was also a highlight. In addition to the cheesecake, we order pieces of the Black Forest torte and the chocolate walnut torte, both of which I would eat again in a second. I wish we'd gotten a giant sampler plate of the bakery offerings as everything there looked delicious. I don't live in the area but would definitely come back if I did!
