My wife and I got sandwiches and soup for lunch. We dined outside and were pleased how how quickly our food arrived. The soup was fine and the sandwiches were exactly as we had ordered them. We each got a half sandwich because they are quite large and being older, we would not have been able to finish them. I had hoped for exceptional but they were simply fine. We will try something else next time we go 😊 I wanted to add how impressed we were with the attention that all of us dining outside received from the serving staff .What a pleasant surprise!!!

Google
The service here is really good. The waitresses are all fast and friendly. The food itself is not bad. I ordered a club and my wife ordered tuna on a Crossaint. The bread was an upcharge for the Crossaint. And to substitute fries(which are mega ordinary) is a couple dollars. Over all, The food is decent, exactly what you see is what you get. No frills, just a decent sandwich. But for two sandwiches, and one soda, it was 37 dollars. Kinda steep if you ask me. Strike two, they charge 4 percent to use a credit card, they encourage cash to avoid the 4 percent fee. Again, steep. The bathrooms are also behind the cashiers counter, and adjacent to the kitchen, and it is also the size of an RV bathroom from the 1980s. This is just an honest review. Also, they have dr.pepper on the menu, but they really serve Pibb Extra. Which is a rare find. I would have gotten that had i known, but the menu is mislabeled and i saw it when i payed.

Google
Waitress was phenomenal. Very helpful & kind. All the staff was great. Food was delicious too.

Google
We went there today. Waitress was fantastic. Whoever was in the kitchen was terrible. Both of our sandwiches has mustard on them. We did not ask for mustard. We sent them back. They did nothing but turn the bread over like we would not see or taste the mustard. We tipped the waitress and left. Usually a great place. Today was not a good day. Won’t go back.

Google
Nice place, would eat here again if I ever had to go to Pinehurst.

Google
Friendly staff nice upbeat place. Very limited breakfast menu. Only potatoe option is hash browns with onions not my favorite grits were without . Lunch menu looked better and it’s pricey

Leah

Google
Breakfast itself was good…portions were small. Ordered everything pictured + 2 orange juices and a coffee. Bill came to over 50 dollars… not sure if we were billed for another table’s breakfast or what, but we paid the bill and still left a nice tip.

Lisa G.

Google
Authentic and delicious grits! That’s high praise in the South. Fantastic breakfast overall, friendly owner and fast service. Loved the croissant French toast too! We will make this a regular stop.

Yelp
We stopped by for Sunday brunch and appreciated the ample seating and relaxed atmosphere. While the brunch menu was limited, there were still plenty of solid options. We tried the French toast and the eggs plate -- both dishes were fresh and thoughtfully prepared, reminiscent of classic diner fare with a touch more care. The main drawback is the pricing. You'll pay Pinehurst-level prices for what is essentially elevated diner food. A half-glass mimosa runs $9.50 (albeit with quality champagne), and two scrambled eggs with toast and potatoes is $14. The food is good, but be prepared to pay a premium for the experience

Yelp
Outstanding food and oh so fun professionals (Alisha was fantastic). On a cold, sleeting day, The Villager gave us a warm welcome and filled our bellies with tasty food. Each time we're in Pinehurst, we eat at least one meal at The villager and we are always happy.

Yelp
You literally have one of the best real estate in the charming (UPSCALE) village of Pinehurst and you end up serving poor quality, tasteless food. Why? Why? Why? The food was so bland, lacked any flavor and again, quality was that of a crappy diner in the middle of Las Vegas, Nevada. I was served a flat mimosa ... completely flat no bubbles yuck! Somehow it was packed with people. I guess it tells you the lack of options on a Sunday? I really don't get it. One of the worst meals I've ever had since moving to this area. The owner (or manager) was very nice and went around greeting ppl, but that doesn't cut it. I spent $100 bucks on jail food. Will never come here again. Would like money back.

Megan G.

Yelp
My daughter and I came here on a Friday morning and enjoyed our breakfast. Our assigned server seemed quite preoccupied, but someone else picked up and handled everything we needed - and we thanked her for that. The owner came to our table and we had such a good conversation. He made it a point to lift my daughter up with words and encouragement on her future (she's 14). Kids need folks to take a moment to invest in them- outside of immediate family and friends. The world needs more people like this. We returned on Sunday morning for brunch and ordered different items off the menu. Both days the food was delicious! This restaurant gives you an at-home feel, but with food you didn't have to cook. We will be back EVERY time we need a breakfast in Pinehurst!

Yelp
Website and door say they are open until 3:00p on Saturdays. Walked in at 2:15-ish and the whole staff was sitting around laughing and on their phones. When I walked in, they were all like "we shut it down for the day already". Went to Drum and Quill, they were packed. Probably with all the customers turned away from the deli closing before their posted hours. Won't be trying again

Yelp
Love the Villager deli... it's where the locals eat and our favorite! We have been bringing Ellie our beloved Sheltie since she was a puppy!!

Rick I.

Yelp
Brunch was amazing - corn beef hash is a must and they know how to make grits !- my wife had a great chicken salad sandwich- Guy at the register (owner?) was super nice and attentive!! Very quaint setting
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
Went for lunch. No menu - just a list of options with checkboxes. Ok the server helped out. Food quality was disappointing. But hey it's a quaint village and the weather was nice. Took our selection sheets to the cash registered to pay. I assume it was the owner who entered prices into the till - he was a miserable person. No bill!!!! " do I want to add a tip?" Well yes add 10% I said. Except he rounded it up to the nearest dollar. And then added a charge for using a card to pay. No advance warning. Surely it's not legal or right to do this?? Well it was a nice day. At the end of the day the establishment will loose out from reviews like this. I would have been happier to know so I could pay cash. And if the owner had been pleasant maybe I'd have given a 20% tip. Service was good. So only 2 stars for cheating .......

Yelp
We came here on the recommendation from our AirBnB owners. I'm glad we did. Pinehurst is such a cute quaint town. We arrived around 9:15am on a Saturday and had to wait a bit. There were plenty of outdoor tables with umbrellas but they were not being used. Not sure if they belong to the town itself and not to the Villager Deli? Once it reached about 10:00 a.m. there were plenty of open tables. We ended up getting a table on the outdoor patio. We had a nice view of the middle of the town and the pretty clock. It made me feel like I was in an episode of Gilmore Girls. The cushing on the hard metal patio chairs made sitting more comfortable. The menu is not too extensive, but the options will likely please mostly everyone. I tried the Pinehurst #5 croissant french toast with a sausage patty. The 3 croissant French toast slices came with powdered sugar on top-the powdered sugar could have been distributed better. Anyway, they were good, had crispy edges. It was satisfying, but if you tend to eat a larger breakfast, probably should order a side. If I eat here again, next time I want to try the pancakes. They looked huge- thick and fluffy. My friends ate the Villager avocado toast and thought it was good, a 4/5. After we finished our breakfast, we paid inside with the cashier. Overall, this was a good breakfast spot and worth checking out.

Yelp
The service was great and they made sure we had everything we needed. Our server was very accommodating and prompt; we had a wonderful all around experience! I got the french dip sandwich and upgraded to fries instead of potato chips. The au jus sauce was tasty and nicely done without being overly salty. The bread held up nicely with the dipping.

Yelp
Love to have lunch here when I am visiting Pinehurst. It's a small local restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating located in the middle of town. They offer different salads and sandwiches for lunch with some daily specials and soups. Today I had the grilled chicken salad with the Paris dressing. It was yummy and the perfect lunch size serving. Two friends ordered the turkey Brie and strawberry sandwich and another ordered the house salad. We all loved our meals. The staff also is friendly and the service was terrific. One caveat- bring cash they charge 4% more for using a credit card.

Yelp
I moved to the area last year and The Villager Deli was one of the first restaurants I tried, due pretty exclusively to its location in the Village. As a huge fan of French Dips, I decided to give The Villager's a try on my first visit. I can't tell you how good anything else on the menu is because I haven't tried anything else. The French Dip at The Villager Deli is the best French Dip I've ever had. I can say this with some confidence, as I've been to The Villager Deli well over twenty times now, and I've still never tried anything other than the French Dip.

Ron R.

Yelp
Please don't buy up all the muffins I have to get up so early in order to get one. Their peanut butter might not be special but it sure taste like it is. This is a special place but you need to live there or stay there often to get it.

Yelp
I always get Togo here and usually it's a normal in and out experience being I'm working but went and got my usual egg salad sandwich which is great but waited in their long line and guy at register was like oh just a minute and skipped me for guy behind me.. and I usually wouldn't care but I'm working and only have a min to go.. I felt it was sooooo rude being obviously I'm in uniform and you see I'm working and skipped me for someone that was obviously in no rush.. had the line not been so long I wouldn't have cared.. then I thought we'll maybe mine isn't ready yet and low and behold it was right beside him.. I usually don't leave reviews but this really made me feel as if I was beneath the other customer being i work near here.

Yelp
Reuben was amazing! Service was friendly and helpful. 4% off your bill if you pay cash.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! I heard the breakfast is even better. We were on our way to golf and needed to pick up a few sandwiches on the way. The deli is located in a small quant village area with shops and plenty of parking. It is a small establishment and they go over and beyond customer service. We need to be at the course by 1115 am and they don't start serving lunch until 11 am. Not only did they say they would make it by 11 am for pick up they actually had it ready 10 minutes before. Gave us plenty of time to grab our sandwiches and enjoy them on the way to the course. We ordered the village club and the village blt. They both came with a pickle wedge and a bag of ruffles potato chips. For $7-8 a piece I would say that's a great deal. Will be back for sure, maybe for breakfast or brunch soon.

Colby H.

Yelp
4% credit card fee added to bill lol Are you kidding? Instead of ringing us up for our order, the manager yelled at our server for, presumably, filling the ticket out in a way at odds with his preferences.
google avatar

R V.

Yelp
Service was great. But overpriced for the quality & quantity of food. I ordered the salad sampler that came with tuna, chicken , egg salad. It was a tiny ice cream scoop size of each on top of the bitter sections of iceberg lettuce. We ordered sweet potato fries that were drenched in cinnamon brown sugar. They charged us nearly $3 credit card fee as well.
google avatar

Benjamin C.

Yelp
I went in for a take out order. I was told to sit at a table so I wouldn't be "in the way" while trying to order at the cash register. I put my order in. Hadn't gotten it 15 minutes later. Left. Not happy.

Yelp
This place is awesome, been here 3 times now and decided to write a review after another great lunch this week. I can brag on the menu and quality, each time the food's been excellent and service is polite, responsive and world class. We've been so impressed we've invited friends, they've all enjoyed this cool location in the Village of Pinehurst. Great location for shopping, ice cream runs and general all around history. The only problem is parking, when you see a space take it, walk a little if you have to. Seriously, this is a good place for lunch, that's what we've always do here.
google avatar

Rianna M.

Yelp
$9 mimosas?! $9-10 Heineken? 3 kids + 3 adults Adult beverages 2 pb&j sandwiches 1 half sandwich with side salad 1 hot dog served with chips 1 full sandwich split between husband and wife. $102.00!!! If your looking for simple/good lunch this is not the place. Croissant was stale with regular ice berg lettuce (was brownish) Long story short if you want simple inexpensive lunch with little to drink and want to spend $100 on sandwiches, beer and (soap smelling glasses for) mimosas go. Service was good*why its 2 stars) but not great due to the fact they were in a hurry to close at 2pm.

Mary B.

Yelp
Pretty basic. Nice server. Was not impressed with menu or food. Ate outside because it's a small place and was crowded at lunch. Nice specials we didn't notice til we were paying check.

Nora W.

Yelp
Busy on a Saturday afternoon - but worth it for a late lunch on a hot day! Salads are massive! Sandwiches are also big. They have endless options for sandwiches - you can create your own! They also offer half sandwich. Servers on on top of their game. They work as a team and you are never not taken care of. The staff is also extremely helpful with menu options! Will 100% be back.

Yelp
Will not be returning. Walked in when they opened at 9 this morning for a Sunday breakfast. I got coffee and water from the busser when I sat down, and then say for ten more minutes without a word from either of the other two servers to take my order. I asked one, and she said she couldn't take it. The other server proceeded to ignore me altogether while she took the orders for 10 people at two different tables (who entered the restaurant at the same time as me). After getting fed up almost 15 minutes in with no end in sight, I went to the front and told them I wanted to pay for my coffee and leave. The other server heard and tried to let me order straight from the counter, which the cook shot down instantly. When I said fine, I'm ready to pay for my coffee and leave, the woman at the register seemed bothered and proceeded to charge me 3 bucks for two sips of coffee and not any sort of explanation from anyone. When my bill was too small for a credit card, the woman slammed the register door, was extremely rude, and said just to go. Overall extremely unimpressed with the customer service here. I'm a local, I live down the street, and was disappointed that I was treated as such and given no explanation or apology. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
Cute little spot in Pinehurst we sat outside. The salads are delicious! And servers are very friendly and attentive!

Yelp
Well. Overpriced under stacked sandwiches poorly serviced overall disappointing for the home town deli. Won't return or recommend to anyone for any reason. Didn't even feel welcome even during this holiday with a pretty empty dining room. Just unfortunate.

Yelp
We received a gift certificate for 50.00 from a friend right when COVID hit. Initially, all restaurants were closed. We put our gift certificate aside until we were recently vaccinated. We decided to go to the Villager to eat and explained to the manager that our gift certificate had expired 9 days ago but that we had received it right as COVID shut everything down. We asked him if he would honor the gift certificate, being that we were just vaccinated and there was a worldwide pandemic, he abruptly said, It's expired," We've been open during COVID!" He made us feel stupid for asking and definitely doesn't care about his customers or doing the right thing during a pandemic. We would never have asked to honor a gift certificate that was expired but felt the owner would have showed some excellent customer service being that there was a pandemic. Customer service isn't what it used to be for sure! I feel sorry for the people who spent 50.00 for the gift certificate and for this man who felt he deserved the money without the service.

Yelp
Vey cute place!! I ordered takeout and waited for my food to be made. The environment was busy and the ladies were rockin the orders out. I ordered the veggie burger and club sandwich and it was tasty.
google avatar

Marisa S.

Yelp
Nice spot for breakfast in the center of the village. Staff was busy but friendly and accommodating. Pet friendly. Typical breakfast offerings along side more unique dishes including country ham and a "quiche" made from biscuit dough. My blueberry pancake was great (waitress advised ordering one due to size) and bacon was cooked well. My husband's biscuit was flaky and buttery and I stole half of it.

Katie H.

Yelp
Great, unique sandwiches and quiches! Sweet place to sit and watch the world pass by with friendly and helpful service!

Karen A.

Yelp
Food is delicious, service is excellent and we really appreciate the outdoor dining during Covid. Love the ability to customize sandwiches. Soups and quiches are perfect
google avatar

Yelp
They reached out to fix the situation, acknowledged they overcharged for PB and js. They offered me something, I didn't respond back as I just saw that they responded a month ago.
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
Reliable, good quality lunch. They were very busy, I was by myself and grabbed a 2-topper and began filling out the menu for my sandwich description. It was delivered rather quickly and I enjoyed the lunch. I had the corned beef, Swiss on rye with chips and a side of horse radish. Many golf groups were clustered in the room throughout. TV was in view to check the most current sporting event which was college basketball tournaments at the time. Glad they are serving the Pinehurst Village - a great place for lunch.
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
Stopped by again, right as they were switching from breakfast to lunch service. This visit the staff was blatantly rude. It was like a Seinfeld episode. When we arrived they were busy and the only spot to accommodate our party of three was to push two two-tops together. This is what the manager/cashier instructed us to do. My husband and son left to wash their hands and a waitress approached my table and started to separate the tables. I told her that my other two people were in the bathroom so we needed both tables. She pulled them apart anyway and she actually asked me if I had gotten permission from the manager to push the tables together. Whaaat? Should have left then... A while later, we had our order sheets filled out and sitting on our table for over 10 minutes while staff members flitted by numerous times and nobody picked them up. They were busy, so fine. By then, the breakfast crowd left and it was much slower and staff members were doing busy work like refilling the sugar containers on the table, refilling the coffee cup rack, etc. My husband motioned to the manager/cashier to grab our sheets. In the most condescending tone you can imagine he said "it's not like we don't know you're there" and proceeded to NOT come pick them up. Several minutes later a waitress came by to get them. We were seated next to a table of regulars and we could overhear (the tables are close!) them commenting on how this would be their last visit because they were tired of the long waits for food. Anyway, the location is great, the food is actually quite good, but the staff needs an attitude adjustment no doubt!

Yelp
My first time in Pinehurst and chose this place to eat lunch after a meeting. The location was great; it felt central, yet it wasn't congested to find parking and walk around without bumping into other people like other areas. When I walked in, I was able to seat myself and wait for a server, which wasn't long. The water came out fast and so did my Villager Club sandwich (which came with chips). Fantastic sandwich at a decent price. The only issue was that there wasn't a pen at my table or the one next to mine to be able to fill out the menu for the waitress, which didn't turn out to be a problem since she took care of it for me! Friendly place and great atmosphere! It seems like it can get tight when there's an influx of customers or full house with the seating arrangement inside (tables and chairs were a bit close, but no issue at the time I was there), but outside had plenty of additional tables with umbrellas to enjoy the summer days. I recommend eating here if you're around the area.

Yelp
This was something we stumbled on while visiting and absolutely love it! Went back everyday for lunch to try something new. We had turkey sandwich best sandwich ever!!! Had egg salad next day it was fabulous, serve was great and always polite and friendly. Highly recommend....
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
My family absolutely loves coming here together! We will often come sit outside and have breakfast or come for lunch on a cooler day. Took me a few visits to find my favorite eats, but now I have 3 or 4 favorites for breakfast or lunch. We all love the pancakes, French toast, omlets, make your own sandwiches, chicken salad, and hot dogs!

Yelp
Go for the Reuben - it's FANTASTIC. Warning: It can be crowded. This is a deli not a quiet intimate cafe. It's a small space with a lot of customers but it is the heart and soul of Pinehurst Village and a gem to us all.

Kyle R.

Yelp
The one star is for ambiance, otherwise, run the other way. We stopped in for breakfast on Saturday. My wife ordered the avocado toast. The avocado was gritty, chunky, and unripe / bitter. When we commented on it to the server he apologized and told the owner. The owner came out and in a bluster started the 'conversation' with 'I know, the avocado is terrible. We've tried slicing it, mashing it, blending it, and grinding it, but it is just horrible.' I suggested to him that since he knew it was terrible perhaps they should not be serving it, or the wait staff should be telling the customers at the time of order to consider something else. He responded with... 'well, it wasn't quite as bad early this morning and this is what they gave us..'. Basically, his response was that he was given bad food so that is what his customers would get. I just can't support a business that cares so little about giving their customers quality food. To add insult to injury, he made a big show of saying I'm not going to charge you for it. When we looked at the bill he had deducted $0.85. Remember, the entry was avocado toast. The avocado was terrible, and the owner new it before serving it. His solution was to deduct the amount of it being added as a side dish. All I can say is.... wow...
google avatar

Brendan W.

Yelp
I eat here almost every time I am in Pinehurst (which is often). I haven't done lunch here in a while (it was tasty). But if you want a solid Southern breakfast, there's country ham, perfectly fried eggs, good biscuits, and grits worth getting excited about. There are also extraordinary pancakes and croissant French toast. A number of reviewers have had issues with the vibe. I can only say that it feels local to me. Maybe that's their problem. They're expecting something from where they're from instead of what's there. Servers are hard workers who keep the coffee coming in a cheerful way. (Wendy!) Tip: If you're going to want a biscuit, don't sleep in. They're often gone by 10.

Glyn O.

Yelp
Once again, the owner's rude behaviour and temper are items you do not need to enjoy a meal. The price is high, value is low and the food is fair at best, but almost always cold for breakfast. Once a staple for our group is now in the past. Would suggest other places like the Track Restaurant. Don't waste your time.
google avatar

Theresa M.

Yelp
This little deli is fantastic!! The baked potato soup was the best I've had! Great flavor, nice and thick. I got a turkey & ham sandwich with bacon. Piled high, great taste. The husband got the French dip and he loved it! Their sweet tea is the best around! Will definitely be back when we come back next year! The prices are very reasonable for what you get!!
google avatar

Elaine W.

Yelp
As locals, my husband and I try to support local businesses. We decided to try the Villager Deli one afternoon for lunch. The special that day was quiche, so we ordered that. The quiche was underwhelming. It obviously came frozen from a commercial bakery and then heated in the microwave. No refills were offered for our tea (and that's a sin in the South). The wait staff seem bothered that we were there. The side salad was mostly small and mostly lettuce. Maybe regulars receive better treatment, but we won't be regulars so I guess I'll never know.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place. Food is great. Service is great. Staff is super friendly. I live within walking distance so often bring my dog with me. We sit outside & enjoy the atmosphere.

Dorothy B.

Yelp
A little pricey, but good food and a nice place. The employees are nice and respectful. It's a clean place, also.
google avatar

Yelp
We love this place... quaint, charm, atmosphere, great food, great service! What more can you ask for? We will definitely be back again and again!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is everything you would want in a small town southern diner and more. Great food, friendly staff and even better prices. They have a small space to work with, but I have never waited for a table. The staff is constantly hustling and extremely attentive. This is my families favorite local spot for weekend brunch and morning coffee. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown.
google avatar

Jean L.

Yelp
I have been eating here for years and it is always good. This time I was craving a hotdog which I rarely eat and have never gotten one from here. So I ordered one with chili and slaw. It was the best hotdog I have ever had. I usually eat about one a year but I think I may get them more often now.
google avatar

Yelp
we walked by this place and it looked good. We went inside (my husband, son & myself). the atmosphere inside was not impressive. very crowded and was dated. the owner & waitress just stared at us, and kind of barked different suggestions where we could sit. after we sat- no one explained how to order, you fill out a menu yourself-sort of like they do at a sushi restaraunt. we filled it out-the owner took our order sheet and told us we needed to fill out separate sheets!! (he should have explained to us) he sat down right beside us and was sctraching out our order and seemed very annoyed with us. after taking our drink order- he brought us both waters, my husband ordered a soda. it was a very uncomfortable experience. We had to wave down a waitress fora refill. they cater to the golfers.if you dont look the part- expect rude service/ it was almost as if werent wanted there. Unless your a golfer NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
