We chose the Mountain Deluxe room specifically because it advertised a private patio. Unfortunately, this was misleading. The patios are far from private, neighbouring patios are directly adjacent and effectively on top of each other, making it extremely easy to see into other guests’ rooms and personal space. Privacy was a key selling point for us, and this fell very short.
The room itself also had several basic maintenance and cleanliness issues. The toilet flush did not work properly, there were visible pubic hairs left on the bathroom floor indicating an incomplete clean, the bathroom bin was broken and jammed, and the shower flooded due to gaps in the shower door. For a hotel of this standard, these are unacceptable oversights.
We were also required to move to another room of the same category the following day. While this was not ideal, we agreed to accommodate the request.
However, the handling of this move was poorly managed. On the morning of the move, we were called at exact checkout time and asked to collect our bags. I explained I would revert shortly once I had gathered our belongings, which I did around 20 minutes later, assuming we would be moved directly into the new room. Instead, we were told our bags would be stored until the new room was ready, meaning we would only be allowed to check in again at the standard check-in time, despite having paid for continuous accommodation for five nights. This was both inconvenient and unreasonable.
Breakfast was chaotic, disappointing and long for nothing. The experience felt more like mass catering at a large budget resort or a
cruise ship than a boutique hotel. The hostess appeared flustered and panicked when we arrived and struggled to locate a table. Ordering simple menu items was unnecessarily difficult, and the wait times were very long, the order was incorrect multiple times. When the food finally arrived, the execution was poor.
We also had dinner at the hotel the night we arrived. While the pizzas were acceptable, they took a good 45mins to arrive. The main dishes were a letdown - overcooked fish and sloppy, poorly executed pasta dishes, sloppy, overcooked and a mess on the plate. I wasn’t sure if I had a plate of pasta or a giant bowl of warm goats cheese with herbs. One good thing is the serving staff were lovely.
Overall, the experience did not match the expectations set by the hotel’s branding, pricing, or reputation. There is significant room for improvement in room standards, service flow, and food quality. I think the saddest part is that nobody really cared. I’m not sure if anybody knows what’s going on.
