Vineyard Hotel | Best places to stay in Cape Town

"Despite its size, The Vineyard offers the charm of a boutique property, with the 211 rooms spread across eight acres of indigenous gardens. The heart of the hotel is a manor house dating to 1800, but the rooms deliver contemporary comfort. The facilities are impressive, from a choice of swimming pools and a well-equipped fitness centre to the gorgeous Angsana Spa. A highlight for both guests and locals is the sweeping garden terrace, where the popular afternoon tea can be enjoyed while admiring the massif of Table Mountain. Be sure to seek out the riverside walking trail, and ask about the hotel’s tiny vineyard, hidden amid the gardens. Hidden away in the quiet leafy suburb of Newlands, it’s ideal for those wanting a quiet central location more than city sights and nightlife on the doorstep. There’s easy access to freeways for sightseeing day trips further afield. " - Richard Holmes

Absolute heaven. Staff and surrounds top notch. Easy too forget the rest of the world exists. Breakfast out on the veranda a memory that will last for a long time. Restaurant also brilliant, we never went anywhere else! They do need to be a bit more careful with their allergy warnings on food. Their menu appears comprehensive but obvious ingredients were not flagged as allergens

First class, calm and attentive service. Great facilities, restaurants, gym, pool, spa. Most of all it’s in a lovely garden setting away from the hustle and bustle with local restaurants and stores short walk away. The room was well outfitted and the team here is very professional. Great breakfast and meals.

Lunch and spa date... too busy to provide good service. Food when it eventually arrived after many reminders, was good. Coffee after the spa was easier. The spa was a total disaster for me... rough, rushing and going through the motions. Facial was an application and wiping off process. Massage was slightly better. 2 hour treatment done in 95 minutes. Never again.

This is a beautiful location, a beautiful hotel, incredible food, beautiful views, incredibly well located but most importantly the service and the staff are fantastic. people make an establishment what it is and they have got it right. The breakfasts were an absolute treat. The coffee is the best. The reception buzzers with efficiency and friendship. From the time you arrive till the time you leave, you have the most incredible experience

This is my sixth visit to this wonderful hotel - previous five were all work related, and now I finally get to holiday here! :)|It’s definitely one of my most favourite places in the world… the gardens are unreal, tortoises super cute, the food - breakfast / lunch / dinner all excellent quality and super tasty!|I love coming back and would really highly recommend to anyone else to book and experience this place for themselves!

I had dinner with my family and friends on a Thursday evening. The food was delicious. I had the cape malay fish curry and malva pudding for dessert. The only con was the lack of quick service but everything was good otherwise from the ambiance and beautiful grounds.

We have been to the restaurant this evening. The first table they offered us wasn't the best, really, then we asked to be moved next to the garden, which was really amazing, it makes a huge difference. It was such a lovely and warm summer evening! Their terrace is something else! So when you book, if the weather suits it, ask to be on the terrace. The waiter was very nice and he has been doing great service all the way. Bravo! I ordered some oysters with a mix of soja and ginger sauce (where I am still wondering were the ginger was?), the plate arrived with no spoon and no forks...urghh sorry but I dont eat oysters with my fingers..then I asked for it and I got suprised when the waiter brought me a fork made to eat your normal food...he told me they used to have oysters forks but not anymore...dont they have money enough to buy some? (At R5500 a room?). It is super weird to eat oysters with a big fork..and it is not very classy for such a restaurant! The food was ok, but nothing amazing either. I had the duck. It was good, but honestly, it was such a small piece. Very small, even! When it arrived on the table, I didn't even see the meat on the plate, for real! 3 bites, and it was done. 100 grams with the bone at the max! I was very disappointed...the side plate was made of 5 pieces of coliflower, 4 pieces of corn, and 2 beans...at R295, you expect not coming back home and being still hungry. But when I arrived home then I opened my fridge and looked at what I could eat 😉 The wine list by the glass is not bad, but the 1st glass I ordered was off (the bottle got certainly opened 3 or 4 days before and not kept in a wine fridge, I cant handle the smell of it), the waiter opened a fresh bottle for me which I appreciated, unfortunately the wine wasn't chill (as too often in Cape Town) then I had to ask to be at the right temperature (17/18 degrees and not 25). At R110 a glass, you have good expectations, no? Overall, it was a nice evening on their terrace, but I am not sure about the food...will we go back there? I'm not sure. Will we recommend that place? I'm not sure.
