I'm not really a bar type, so maybe I shouldn't be reviewing the Viper Room, but the music downstairs in the smaller bar was GREAT! We went specifically to see "Elias Clay" perform and he was fantastic!! So glad we got to experience his melodic rap, and also be inside the infamous Viper Room! Other than that, it's a dark, rough around the edges bar, as expected, I think it's what young adults like! So I highly recommend seeing Elias Clay, and I'm eh about the actual Viper Room (I'm getting old!!) :)

I have been going to this venue since I turned 21! It’s a great place to see live music! The staff is always friendly and I love the vibe. Drinks are amazing and well priced! Sound there is fantastic! I literally live there when there’s a band playing! Thank you to everyone there for keeping us safe and showing us a good time! One of the few places in Hollywood you can go and it feels like you’re back in the 80s in the heart of the music scene!

Google
Recently visited to see friend play. Previous visit was 20 years ago, hasn’t changed much. Good venue to watch local bands. Parking expensive. Worth a visit. Thank you.

I came here often in early days after mcnastys and it was great. I did some electrical stuff at Capitol a few miles away and liked nearby independent clubs and rooms, same as Pearl. But heck after mcnastys it was cool to see THE pirate and friends just hanging. So fast forward while nearby stopped in. You can never go home again so I'm good.

I came to the legendary Viper Room to see the Live Debut of Crossbone Skully. It’s a very intimate venue to catch your favorite live acts. The acoustics were great from both my first night at center rear, to night 2 from the front row. The staff were personable and efficient, particularly the line control lady we had both nights. If you’re in town, do check it out, soon. It’s slated for demolition next year and a new 11 story building will go up. There will be a new Viper Room in that building, but it will not be the original, do yourself a favor and go!

Google
My son's bands Surrealisticmind played here and it was really fun. Love the iconic lady at the front door! She's one-of-a-kind!

Google
Visited the famous Viper Room and was very impressed with the performances and how easy it was to get drinks. It was a good crowd; not extremely over crowded and could walk freely with space. Definitely will be coming back.

Google
Iconic place. Epic bands playing there and a tremendous atmosphere. I was there 2018 and the yellow ranger (allyson from wild force ) was the bartender. Mustard Plug was a blast.

Yelp
My wife and I have lived in L.A. for twenty-five years and, to our shame, had never been to the Viper Room until this past weekend to see The God Bombs. It's such a cool venue, reminiscent of the old 40-Watt Club in Athens, Georgia. Intimate, with a dive bar feel. The DJ kept the crowd amped between acts, and the bar offered discounts that only lasted the length of certain songs, which added to the fun vibe. "Five dollar shots during this song only!" they'd announce, to squeals of delight, people rushing to the bar. The bartenders were very friendly, and put out a vibe that they love their jobs. The sound quality was great, and The God Bombs put on a fantastic show. But seven or eight songs in, something happened that could have ruined the night for me if not for the incredible Viper Room staff. I began feeling dizzy and had to lean against the bar. I had not had anything to drink, and I wasn't sick to my stomach, just incredibly dizzy. I told my wife I was going to go outside for some air, but as I reached the door I suddenly collapsed and blacked out. I'm told I was only out for a minute or so, but it felt like longer; when I came to, Viper Room staff helped my wife gather me to my feet and hustled me out to Sunset Boulevard. They offered me water, comforted me, asked if I wanted an ambulance. They were so attentive to me during what was a scary -- and very embarrassing moment. As it turned out, I was very dehydrated, and I felt much better by the time I climbed into an Uber a few minutes later. I don't write many reviews on this site, but the manager's incredible compassion towards me and my wife Saturday left a real impression on me. I had already decided the Viper Room was a great venue before "The Incident," so their hospitality is the icing on the cake for me. I hope this place isn't torn down. The Strip is iconic because of venues like the Viper Room, not because of condos. My wife and I can't wait to revisit! Finally, check out The God Bombs if you get a chance. They're a lot of fun and put on a great show.

Yelp
Happened in here last night for the first time, when a friend of a friend's band was playing music. It was cool because there were really good bands upstairs and then a smaller room downstairs that felt more amateur. Case in point: a horrific "performer" named Leo who literally played songs from his computer and sang along with them (not karaoke; literally sang with it like a car radio) and kept telling everyone to shut up and listen to him. I'm iffy on whether I'd recommend it as a music venue, if that's the quality they offer down there (he had a crowd of relatives there to see him so maybe they bought a lot of tickets?) but we did wonder if it was being filmed for some sort of Punk'd show. But upstairs we caught Lele Rose and the band Thalo, both of which were excellent. If you're thinking of going and either of them are playing, it's worth it. If Leo's there, go another time, lol. Three stars because the quality of entertainment was so inconsistent.

Yelp
Getting in and served at the bar was pretty efficient. Restroom is dirty, but large and functional, so prepare for that. Goodness gracious, some of the people who work here either hate humans, themselves, their job, or all the above. If you break any of their rules (good luck finding what they are), they will not treat you kindly, they will not give you the benefit of the doubt either, but they will automatically assume that you are purposely going against their rules. If you're really unlucky, they will bitterly corner you and yell at you like a child, while using their finger. Very degrading. Extremely disappointed in this experience. Glad I didn't get kicked out that night for watching over someone else's tripod. Literally was attempting to disassemble another person's tripod and got yelled at for not putting it away and trying to use it secretly. Btw the rule is no tripods.

Yelp
We came here to see Dear Delta which was an AMAZING band!!! The bar service was very friendly and kind. Parking attendant was helpful in where to walk for dinner. It was a sold out show and people turned away at the door, I was happy we got there early! We did not try any food there. Would for sure come back to see Dear Delta!

Yelp
Terrible experience. Was minding my business in line about to give my ID when the old hag who thinks she owns the venue decided to tell the security "don't even look at his ID I know it's fake" when I'm 23 and it was a California state ID... I tried to explain myself and she told me to shut up and to stop arguing if I wanted to go in. All for what... the ID was completely real.

Yelp
I am old enough to remember when we got our tunes from ... wait for it ... the radio! Uh-huh. That oldfangled last century fossil that crackled out the same 9 songs the DJ was shekeled to play ad nauseum until you surrendered and thought you actually dug that stuff. Not any more. Thankfully we have hundreds of other ways to find music and assemble our own playlists that can then devolve into a monotonic repetition of all the other pedestrian jingles our finite brainlets open the doors for. Or, we can bust out of our routines and find a hot groovey spot on Sunset to hear something edgy in a room as inky and intimate as lingerie. The sound was studio crystal, the bar tenders were cool and mirthy, while lights glowing with swirls of obsidian, sapphire, and amethyst were downright sorcerous. Yep, I am describing The Viper Room (gotta love that imagery). We've all vibed on the Viper at some point in our lyrical journeys but last night I got to hear an original harmonic buffet that could morph into obsession. Bewitching bedazzling Brooke Howard chose TVR for another mind-altering concertina, blowing out ethereal bars that spun toward the ceiling, hovering like violet smoke. She bends and launches her voice like only a few other vocal artists have in the past, but with fractal percussion. Brooke, effusing a Kim Novak-alike aesthetic, rolled out some of the hits from her first album, Witch trap, and teased a sample from an upcoming second that, if my eyes didn't deceive, created a crowd at the street end of the murksome tunnel that draws fans into the Viper, packed to the ceiling (or so it seemed! -- see my pix). Belting like the best of them and frosting her vocals with a few rock-coloratura notes unexpectedly, Brooke is creating her own genre, a sound that has to be heard to be appreciated, unconfined by the acoustical jewel box downstairs at TVR. If I am not mistaken, I spied a few trebles still floating over the Strip when we emerged at the end of her set, reluctant to leave. For now. There will be more. Watch this space ... (Shout out to Fever Dream Production)

Yelp
I went to The Viper Room last night for the first time ever. I went with a friend to attend The Emo Night Tour event. The vibe of the crowd was good. I liked that people were allowed to go on the stage and dance. There was a good sense of community amongst the crowd. The event was fun and enjoyable. The Viper Room is a small venue. It's definitely historic. I love that it's located on the Sunset Strip. I love it's past connection to popular rock artists, socialites, and Hollywood actors (RIP River Phoenix). My gripe with The Viper Room is for the door attendant working the entrance off Larabee St. on my visit. The door attendant had a bad attitude. She talked to me and other guests in a rude tone. She even warned some guests as they entered the venue's hallway before me not to talk sh** about her because she can hear them. The attitude I saw and received myself left me disappointed. Luckily, she was the only staff member who seemed to be an issue.

Yelp
I'm living a rock star dream because Courtney G was performing in the Acoustic Lounge (downstairs). Main entrance is on Sunset and a side entrance for the Acoustic Lounge is on Larrabee. There's a parking lot next to the Viper Room to park for $20-30 depending on what time you arrive. There are two floors - the main act is upstairs, while the downstairs area is small and intimate for an acoustic (1-3 person) act. The downstairs area has a full bar. Surprisingly, the downstairs area is well insulated for acoustic acts. Restrooms are upstairs and unisex. There is also a full bar upstairs with seating. Merch can be purchased at the bar.

Yelp
I have no clue how this place has 3 stars it is the absolute epitome of "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll" It's a straight time capsule to the late 90s and early 2000s. It is a damn shame the place is going to be demolished and should be classified as a historical landmark https://laist.com/news/the-viper-room-will-be-torn-down-and-remodeled-as-part-of-a-12-story-high-rise

Yelp
This place is rocking! Love me some Viper Room on a Friday night! The drinks are strong and the bands are good! This is a fun place to hang out and listen to live music! Love it! Happy Yelping!

Crystal M.

Yelp
Worst experience both times being here. The old admissions woman really hates her life, job and people in general. First time around I thought she must really be a miserable person, second time around I am convinced she is racist. She is rude, yells for no reason, laughs at you and talks crap about you with other guest. Imagine living with yourself knowing how shitty of a person you are. What a sad human. Completely unprofessional and unwelcoming. To top it off drinks were disgusting and $15. Watered down cheap alcohol thats what it was. The venue was at max capacity I am pretty sure it was violating the 250 people max. you could not even walk or stand. It was hot, it was hard to breathe had to get out. Pretty sure I won't be coming back here. Such a shame an iconic place like this deserves better staff.

Yelp
Such a dope and iconic location! We had so much fun checking out this infamous bar in West Hollywood! The band "Jeremy Sullivan" who performed the night we were here were absolutely incredible also! Such a nice surprise seeing them perform live! Great/strong drinks too and everyone who worked here seemed really nice and on it. So glad we got to check this place out! It was awesome! Highly recommend for a night cap and some good music!

Yelp
Great place to see a show. Bartenders are excellent, drinks are good. It might be torn down soon due to a potential condo development. Visit this classic venue while it's still standing!

Yelp
Love The Viper Room. Such a classic. Tonight just happened to be a little off. Doors were supposed to be at 7:30. I was at the front of the small line (more performers than audience) and a lady finally came out to set up the rope and a chair after 7:40. She went away and didn't return until 7:50. There's a full bar and I ordered an Old Fashioned from one gentleman. He carefully poured and mixed the cocktail, yet added a lemon wedge (instead of an orange peel or slice). Even removing the lemon wedge left me wondering what alcohol was used since it certainly didn't taste like whiskey. I'm guessing it's just a no-name alcohol they use for their well. I was actually impressed with his pour and was going to tip appropriately, but this was something insanely weak. I had a couple draft IPAs afterwords. I asked them what time the bands started and was told 8pm. Yet it turned out to be 8:30 - either someone was mistaken or they delayed since the doors were delayed. Side note: don't park in the lot right behind. Pricing used to be $20. Now it's $30. "Inflation." Yet the lot wasn't repaved, improved, or anything. And I'm always suspicious the guy is just quoting a high dollar and pocketing the difference. No signs listing the price. Just his word. I don't believe this is owned or run by The Viper Room.

Yelp
Cool place. A little overrated, they won't allow flip flops. They threw me out like I was meat to the wolves. Rock and punk are dead, what makes you think people are dancing to music in LA? They stand like statutes. I am a singer of a band and they kicked me out 5 MINUTES before I was supposed to play for wearing flip flops

Yelp
I went and saw Black Sabbitch. Great show. The room was pretty small but great view from every place. There was never a huge line for drinks or the bathroom. The welcoming host was very cheerful. The sound was great. We got there early so grabbed parking across the street for $20.00. Overall, we had a great time.

Yelp
Been living in LA for years & it only took my cousin with a Johnny Depo obsession to get me to finally come to the Viper Room. So glad she did! It was so fun & such a good vibe. The upstairs music was great!! And then if you want a little quieter vibe the smaller downstairs bar has awesome singer songwriter type music. Loved it & I'll definitely be back

Yelp
I couldn't be happier with the experience I had promoting and executing a show at The Viper Room. I manage my son "RyderB's" band, and we book him everywhere we can, in and around Hollywood. Problem is he's only 8! We run into red tape everywhere! You have to be 21 or older to play 90% of the venues in town. The stage Ryder has been chomping at the bit to get onto just happens to be notorious for being the most strict on the Sunset strip in regard to their age policy. Jack Osborne was quoted as saying that in the early 2000s, his fame could get him in every door in Hollywood EXCEPT Viper. I didn't think Ryder would ever get in! Everyone knows that the block that The Viper is on will eventually be leveled to make room for another swanky condo thing. Although the plan is to place "The Viper Room" on the ground floor of the building, it won't be the same. It won't be the same stage, walls, hallways, or history! I expressed these concerns to Tommy Black, who I believe is the manager of Viper. I politely asked if there's any world in which Ryder would be able to at least come in the building, play guitar on a staircase, or stand on stage, entertain an empty room... We were willing to take whatever they would be willing to do. It was important to Ryder and myself as his manager to get him in there so he could absorb some of of that energy before it's gone. Plus, the bragging rights are going to be priceless when he's a teenager! Tommy answered back right away and copied the the promoter Troy. They knew who Ryder was and gave us a couple options that could work. They offered him an unplugged show in the downstairs lounge. But he'd have to be escorted in, put on the stage, plays the show, and then would have to get out the door immediately! "WE'LL TAKE IT!". .. Troy gave us a date 10 days away! Could Ryder even play enough songs on guitar!? He's a drummer 1st! LOL Ryder gave the Viper room the respect they deserved and worked his ass off for nine days leading up until the show. Two official rehearsals and hours, and hours of practice. When we arrived to Viper on our date we were greeted by the kindest staff ever. Nobody was acting like they were doing us a favor. They genuinely wanted us there. It took 100% of the nervousness away. The sound tech assigned to us was Alex. He got everyone hooked up and diled in the sound within minutes. As usual Ryder put on an amazing show. He played just under the agreed upon time of 30 minutes and was immediately escorted out the door by his mother upon saying good night to his audience. We can't wait to have a chance to work there again. And we know that when the new viper comes in, although it won't have the same memories and residual energy, we know it's going to be amazing, and create decades more of amazing memories. There will be an all new energy that Ryder will definitely tap into his 20s. Thank you Viper Room.

Yelp
So my review is bias since my only visit was because my step mom is obsessed with Johnny Depp and wanted a photo of the Viper Room. Sure, no problem, Depp is a fellow born n raised Kentuckian like myself, so off to the Viper Room I go. Always the curious me decided to knock on the door. The manage at the time was shocked to hear someone knocking and answered. I have a thick Kentucky accent and my friend Jenna has a thick Cleveland Ohio accent. This cracked him up. Keanu was doing his sound check and was game to meet us so manager invited us back the next day (this was in 2003) and we had just got off the Leno show taping (John Corbin wished me happy birthday on air!) anyways we got the call and headed to the Viper Room. Ever patient Keanu awaited us at table (the one next to the bathrooms furthest from the stage). We were nervous at first but a few mins into conversing we relaxed and just hung out. Incredibly stellar guy. True gentleman. My favorite drink is cherry coke and Keanu said I like them too, and made he and I one (no alcohol, don't drink) and my friend a water. We were going through a rough time in our lives, I didn't follow celeb news at the time so I didn't realize fully the heaviness of what he'd shared. Now I do, if you randomly see this, sincere prayers friend. Grateful it appears much has been overcome. I'm grateful for my own path as well. The Lord restores. Anyways, Keanu did sound check after an hour of chatting it up, we rolled up cords and chatted with Becky (Rebecca actually) a bit. Once he clean up the music equipment he put me and my friend on his invite list for his show that night. I felt silly asking for a photo after getting to know him but thankfully the manage stepped in and asked and Keanu said, of course of course, let's. Friend and I had to pack our bags for San Fran trip the next day early (like 3am early) so we left but came back. Crazier still we were the ONLY ones on his guest list. Myself and Jenna. Keanu had us in the lounge downstairs and again, total gentleman, polite, like a old friend of the family. Shared another cherry coke, then headed upstairs, he played base for Becky (Rebecca's) band. So my experience most likely will differ from yours. But who knows at the Viper Room right?! Under a new manager now. Hope it's just as fun there.

Yelp
Infamous, notorious & iconic as the not-so-secret playground for Johnny Depp's friends from 1993 - 2004. Unfortunately, also most famous for River Phoenix's overdose... Michael Hutchence of INXS played here a week before his death by suicide. Tom Petty opened up, per Depp's request, in 1993. Johnny Cash played and recorded here. Site of numerous movies, music videos and illicit poker games (see Toby McGuire). Originally built as a grocery store in 1921, if these walls could talk! So much has changed on Sunset Blvd. over the past 100 years and this is one of the original clubs of the 80's-90's rock n'roll scene. The decor is dark, dingy and suitably grunge with, inexplicably, a disco ball upstairs...the stage is small and there are columns that block your view. Bartenders are quick and efficient though. Only one ladies' restroom- just like my old clubbing days! Ah, the nostalgia! Smells like Teen Spirit for sure. It's due to be demolished in 2023 so get your butt over here and relive those days of sex, drugs and Rock n'Roll...

Yelp
I must say I am not too happy the way my wife was treated here. she was being insulted by one of the employees here I think it was a bar tender,

Yelp
I see why it's closing, but is it really because Johnny Depp killed that guy? Who knows. I had a beer, it was cold and seemed to be an actual beer, but I better get another to make sure.

Yelp
Super fun intimate setting and the staff was super friendly. Would definitely go again for some shows.

Yelp
Thanks for making my birthday epic, and inviting me to celebrate in this Iconic space. Music, sound, crowd and vibes on point. Birthday - Amazing... The Viper Room, A classic piece of Americana.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
I know it's "historic" but what a dump. If you would allow half the crowd and charge a little more for tickets so there is enjoyment in watching the show. You can barely move and it was super hot in there and it was 50 degrees outside. You have to stand the whole time because the booths are high dollar, which is fine. But a nice chair somewhere would be cool. Anyways, won't be returning here
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
A great venue of bands and musicians to play live music. It's standing room only with a few tables available for sitting and you have to reserve them ahead of time or get bottle service. I got some cool merch because I heard they're closing

Yelp
Came here to see the CT S this place remains the same still a precious hole in the wall! Always a good time always good talent , Stiff drinks ! The best of times

Karishma S.

Yelp
One of the worst bar experiences in weho. They charge a $15 entry fee whereas no other bar in weho charges for entry. The old admission lady was rude and trying to bicker with us. She called us fat b*tches simply because we said we would not be going in when they are charging an excessive rate, when their bar had zero patrons at midnight of a Friday night. The bar immediately smells like an old person died in it upon entry. I've lived in LA my entire life and no bar has had such rude security/admission old lady mafia. Do not recommend this bar if you're under 40 years old. Needs to be shut down immediately so a younger bar can replace it.

Yelp
This was a somber visit for me. I got to know River Phoenix and his family while I was a student at the University of Florida from 1987, graduating in 1991. I worked at Leonardo's Pizza for a couple of years. River, Joaquin, and sister Rain would come in their almost every day during the summer. Joaquin was just a little kid. The family lived in nearby Micanopy, and River had a house in Gainesville's "duck pond" neighborhood. River was out and about in Gainesville all the time. His band, Alecka's Attic, played in Gainesville numerous times. Keanu Reeves even showed up once or twice. People in Gainesville didn't bother River. There were no hangers-on. He was treated like a normal guy while he was in Gainesville. He was having fun with real friends in an awesome city. He was not only an amazing actor but the nicest, kindest guy you would ever want to meet. There are a lot of rumors about what happened that fatal night at the Viper Room, involving a lot of famous people. My theory is that River got mixed up with people who didn't have his best interests at heart. When my wife and I heard he died of a drug overdose at the Viper Room in May 1993, our world was shook. I think he was only 23!! Anyway, I had to go and stand where the paramedics tried to save River's life that night. I had no interest in going inside. Just took a few pictures, and remember a great person whose life was taken way too soon.

Yelp
Look, this is a legendary place. Just the fact that Johnny Depp owned it and all the stars came. It is super small. It is not a great set up. But, I still had a great time! I would definitely check it out if you are a pop culture fan.

Yelp
My friend and I went for an Emo Night show, and we loved everything: the history, the intimate space, the crowd, the DJ, but most especially the staff. Everyone was so nice and seemed genuinely interested in making sure patrons had a great time. My friend lost her phone and they were very helpful. They immediately took her phone to her when they located it. Definitely looking forward to more shows at this historic venue.

Marisol H.

Yelp
Flew out to LA in October to see Ricky Hil @ The Viper Room. It was an amazing show, bar staff were fast & attentive. There is only two bathrooms so you do have to wait in line at times but not bad over all. Would totally go back for another show!
google avatar

Yelp
Rumor has it that the Mr. Johnny Depp's ex won all their money pits in the divorce. Giggle. And that she is really turning this one around. The lights are dim. The bands are rockin. The history is rife. And the night is always young. There might also be no more gloriously authentic local rock bar experience than the Viper Room restrooms. Rumor also has it that if you are in any band playing the Viper Room, Whiskey a go go, or Roxy now that you get free whisk(e)y promos at the Rainbow Bar & Grille the day you play. If you're the kind of fan who likes hangin with the band... I'm just saying.

Yelp
Rest in peace River Phoenix 31OCT1993. My death metal band friends were performing tonight in a sold out show, the place isn't big so you have to buy your tickets in advance for some gigs. Dark as Death and Letum Ascensus put on a killer show at this legendary venue.

Yelp
Let me just say this rating to this great establishment is not because of the host or the environment of it.Both are really great! It is a reflection of their parking attendant. The bartender really wasnt cordial either. He should have had a better attitude. You work at 'The Viper Room'!It was an older gentleman with white hair who was my bartender. But what I really want to focus on is that weird parking attendant.Well after much thought we chose the parking lot across from the viper room.I thought it was less and the man was very nice.I proceeded to take money out of the atm across from it.With that the pa of the viper room comes to question me.Asking what is the logic behind my Decision to pay for parking across the way.He was very confrontational.I politely said oh I thought u said it was $32.He said no that it was $20.I said nicely oh I didn't know that.Because of my kind attitude he backed off.I think it is ridiculous to be asked that question in such a rude manner. If I remember correctly I am in America.I can do whatever hell I want. And if I want to choose to park elsewhere I will! They shouldn't have a person like that representing their establishment.Especially because it is such a great place!!I really enjoyed interacting with the host that greeted us!She really made me feel welcomed and had such a wonderful attitude! The establishment is really nice.I can tell why Johnny depp owned it at one time.Super cool place! Its so cute and small. And really makes u feel that vibe of West Hollywood. And that Dj had all the good music playing! All around cool atmosphere.I loved that they had incense burning in there as well. That bartender could have been nicer when I asked for a michelada. All I'm going to say is I've had the best michelada in Beverly Hills .So let's just leave at that. That attendant and the bartender ruined it for me.Well for awhile cause like I said the rest was exceptional!I would definitely go back! But I wouldn't choose to park there again:)or get served by that same bartender:D

Yelp
One of the best clubs on the legendary sunset strip.... I have seen many amazing shows there and had many a good drink... Unfortunately it seems that they will be torn down to make condos??? I certain hope that this isn't true...

Yelp
The Viper Room is an iconic place. Played my first Hollywood show here last weekend. Tommy the GM is so kind...and the sound guy Cameron did an absolutely fantastic job. I'm very surprised they only have 3 stars. It's definitely worth the visit. Tickets for all night access are usually $10 pre order or $15 at the door on regular nights. It's a great spot

Yelp
Viper room is pretty tight. My girl like this place. Was my first time here. We stopped here a couple months ago for her birthday and jam to some awesome music here with some drinks. Club was pretty packed. Took us 30 minutes to get inside which was no problem. So we got are groove on with live hosts. Live music is here on weekends with awesome DJs. Cool vibe and nice people. I wouldnt mind coming back.

Yelp
I'm sitting here asking myself, why have I waited so long to come back?! This is only my second time at the Viper Room. First time was many years ago to see Tokyo Hotel perform! Anyway, saw a show this past Friday (6/28/19) and everyone present seemed to be having a great time! Drinks flowing and lots of people were there to support friends who were performing. There were some awesome bands playing both upstairs and downstairs and what I love about this venue is that it's small and intimate so there's no "bad seat" in the house! The gentleman who was manning the door and the lady who took our tickets were both really nice and patient with everyone! Anyone who visits the Viper Room, I know you"re going to have a good time! Rock on my friends!

Yelp
Such an iconic place. I have always wanted to go but never had the chance and finally we made it on Saturday! The staff is amazing, super helpful and friendly. We went for an album release party upstairs. The stage was pretty awesome, small but simple and when you hear that music and the curtain pulls back, wow! Words cannot describe. Again so much history in Viper Room, you can feel it. After the party we went downstairs to the lounge area for more live music, an acoustic set, the singer was really good. There are two bars, the one upstairs is slightly bigger but the downstairs lobby bar was a little more peaceful. The upstairs bar was crowded but the bartenders were on top of it, no matter how busy they were helping everyone and getting drinks out quickly (and they were pretty good drinks too). For me it was an experience of a lifetime and I am so happy I was finally able to make it! If you have a chance, go!!!! The people, the location, the music, the ambiance is amazing.

Yelp
charged $22 for 2 drinks. Gave the bartender $25 cash and he put the change straight in the tip charge. Though I typically tip $2 a drink, I didn't indicate we were all set. Felt very awkward and didn't order anymore drinks after that. Parking sucks. Iconic venue.

Yelp
Terrible management. Terrible sound. Terrible basic maintenance. To top it off, I had two nearly-full drinks taken by security the moment I turned my back to watch the bands. The Viper Room owes me $40. If whoever is pretending to run this place is replaced, I might consider going back, but with so many better options in Hollywood, why?

Yelp
Went to the Viper Room for a show. I ended up losing my phone while I was there but didn't realize until I got home. I contacted the venue and the staff responded right away. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Really appreciated the people there!

Yelp
Though the Viper Room is iconic. The experience leaves a lot to be desired. I came here on a whim and ended up seeing two amazing bands called "Winter Reign" and "Michael Grant & the Assassins." Both bands exceeded my expectations. Their music was phenomenal. However, the sound was terrible. Their sound guy was obviously inexperienced. Although, I have a sneaking suspicion that they select the quality of their sound based on the band playing. The sound was so horrible for 2 bands. But perfect for another band. Favoritism or bribery perhaps? The club itself is uncomfortably dark, small and dirty. I felt claustrophobic. The bathrooms are disgusting! The state it was in was horrifying. The staff is rude. The bartender was discourteous and inattentive. When I finally got a drink, it tasted like it was watered down. The positive, I enjoyed the incredible music that night. The negative, this club is what i would call "a has been" on all levels. I will not be returning...

Yelp
It was really nice here: I came to see a few bands play. It is kind of small, and there are tables to sit at but I think you have to reserve them. I came super early and was tired standing so I sat at a table and no one said anything. Drinks were about average price. The only thing I didn't like was looking for parking. I was happy to find parking behind the venue but it was $20.
