The Warehouse Restaurant Review - Marina Del Rey - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"In Marina Del Rey, a land of massive, strange restaurants, The Warehouse is easily the strangest. But with an aggressive 1980′s nautical vibe and some of the best people-watching in the area, we’ll happily take part in the festivities. They do a bottomless-ish brunch buffet on Sundays (you get two mimosas), which is about the most Marina Del Rey thing we can think of." - Brant Cox

After five years of consistent visits, we had a lunch today that was unlike anything we have previously had. It started when we tried to order our meal at the same time we ordered our drinks and were told we would have to wait. We ordered pizzas that came with no sauce and no basil, we ordered cake that came in three different sizes, but the staff insisted they were all the same size so we sent two back and finally, when a manager came to our table, she was not interested at all in our concerns. She actually told us all the cake slices had to be equal because of the tool used to cut them. Right before she came over another staff member was kindly going to replace our cake because the person cutting was apparently new. This was stopped by the manager. She completely ignored our issues with a pizza that we have had multiple times and knew exactly what should be on the pizza. After almost an hour waiting for food we still had an item missing. The restaurant was by no means full. I completely understand having an off day, but what I don’t understand is how truly uninterested the staff was when we questioned why things we had ordered many, many times were completely different and not at all the the quality we have had in previous visits. Please do better when problems arise and put some quality control in place. We are usually a party of 6-8 people, some local and some who travel to Cleveland weekly for work. We want to be able to enjoy what was previously one of our favorite places.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday trip with a party of five, got seated when we entered. Waiter come immediately for drinks. Took about ~25 minutes for meals to come out. Food was good, waiter was nice and efficient.

Food was clean. Service was good. Restrooms were clean and odor free.

We ordered the shrimp dip and it came out like a soup. We ordered cheese and broccoli soup and it came to the table ice cold. They took the soup back and when it was brought back it was still cool. I ordered the Cleveland grilled cheesesteak and they came back to tell me they weren’t doing any grilled meats so I had to order something else. When that sandwich came the menu said the spinach was tossed with a pesto mayo which it didn’t have. My mom’s BLT had no mayo on it. The tomato on my sandwich had the spot where the stem was attached. Terrible food since it’s been bought out and servers have attitudes when you tell them something’s wrong! Will never return!!

I had the rueben sandwich with fries, the sandwich was a bit dry even with sauerkraut the fries were nicely seasoned. I also had the carrot cake it was really good and moist. Overall, okay but a bit overpriced.

Arrived at 11:20 am with our party. Some of the food was finally brought to the table at just before 1pm. Half of the plates were wrong, not remotely the same order. I left without a plate because the kitchen “missed it” we finally left at 1:30, still hungry. Horrible

Google
We went there for Mothers Day and had a little bit of wait to be sat down and get our meal but I guess thats to be expected on a holiday. For being such a nice facility it's surprising that they mainly serve sandwiches, pizza, soup and salad. If your not familiar with this restaurant you would think it was a nice steakhouse looking from the outside but it is'nt! They said they have the special of the day but they were out that day. All in all it's a good place to get a sandwich.

Wife and I had the muffuletta and club for lunch, both were 😋! Always a nice stop for lunch in Cleveland, Riley was an excellent server 👍

Yelp
The ambiance felt like a warehouse.. no issue there... service was ok although waitress didn't know much... the food is the issue. What came out didn't match the menu.. the loaded potato soup was disgusting. It was like a congealed mess. It wasn't loaded with anything but they managed to cut some real potatoes. The sandwich was mediocre at best. It was regular pesto and not the tomato as the menu stated. Pizza looked like buffet pizza. That being said, I will not be returning. Thanks for the free drink.

Yelp
Didn't know this place existed until we were told by a friend who recommended it for lunch. Great nostalgic place, with old signs and a Ford truck parked inside. Sandwiches were excellent as was as the gumbo. Need to come back on our next trip to give the cakes a try. They looked delicious. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
Atmosphere was fantastic but I like historic buildings. Service was good and meal was good. Check restaurant hours before going.

Yelp
Great food and great people! I highly recommend The Warehouse anytime you find yourself in Cleveland.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here passing through town. We had the Italian sandwich and coach sandwich. They were both amazing! Our waitress was lovely and the owner came by multiple times to check on us. Also had a tv to watch NFL football. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Pimiento bacon grilled cheese is worth the drive. I come here every time I come through Cleveland. Great service

Yelp
Great sandwiches Came here for lunch when my wife, her sister and I were visiting our daughter. Cool venue, repurposing a warehouse. Creative menu. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Service was great. Neat location. Was a great lunch after another location failed us badly.

Yelp
Ate here recently with a friend. We both had the pimento cheese sandwich which has bacon on it and served hot. Excellent! I had chips and my friend had fries which she liked. We each had a slice of cake for dessert - Italian cream & caramel. Both were generous portions and very tasty. Service was good.

Yelp
Great food and great service. We were there when they opened on Sunday and were really looking forward to the Lunch special, unfortunately it was not quite ready. So I went with the Cooley Cuban and it was delicious. I also had some Boar's head turkey and ham slice to take home with me. Will certainly be back!

Jamie R.

Yelp
service was awful. food was okay. will not come back here. red head was rude and acted like she wanted to do anything but wait our table. was snappy with elderly people when they didn't move fast or hear her the first time. only checked on us twice. our food sat under the warmer for about 10 minutes. pizza dough wasn't cooked all the way. shrimp dip was disgusting. proportions were wack. I was excited about this restaurant because everyone raves about it but was disappointed. I won't ever be back.

Yelp
What a cool restaurant. The only issue is they are just there for lunch. This was our second time at the Warehouse and we have been pleased both times. The Ruben was tender and juicy. The way it should be. Will definitely be back for more when in town.

Yelp
great staff! food is average with little unique taste. it is large with lots of seating options.

Yelp
Slowest service ever in the history of me and my family dining out. We visited during a Delta State baseball game viewable only at two restaurants here in Cleveland and not via satellite or antennae. We picked up my mom from a hard day at work and decided to award her with eating out instead of coming home and cooking. The customer service was the following. Our server took our order. Then, we got our drinks within a couple minutes. That's fine. Next, It took two hours to get our meals. This is unheard of. No excuses. They knew DSU fans wanted to see the game and that it only could be viewable at two venues in town, Hey Joes and The Warehouse. They should have had the staff planned for this event. That said, the food was good even though we were getting impatient. Most of us ordered sandwiches and fries which were a little small in portions in relation to the price you are paying for them. In summary, too high, too slow and management needs to schedule their staff better.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and just realized that I have never reviewed. I try to do this as I depend on them when I go out. I have only eaten lunch here. Every time I've been I've been greeted and waited on pleasantly. I've never had an issue. Last time we had the BBQ nachos and tHey were delicious. It's the first time I've tried them. I always get the half sandwich and soup, always great. They also have some of the best cakes you eat! This is a must try if you are in Cleveland !

Yelp
Great food, great service! Highly recommend the "You Betcha Italian" BLT dip was a hit as well!

Yelp
Not happy with dinner (although lunch is on point). Normally I eat lunch here once every 2 weeks or so and it is probably the best option in town. However, we went to dinner here last Saturday night and it was subpar. Good things first: service and atmosphere were both excellent. Tempura fried cheese appetizer is awesome. Goat cheese drowned in local Bolivar honey - must try. Loaded potato soup - always on point. Spicy Bird sandwich - also always solid. Negatives: mozzarella sticks had no cheese in them (just fried empty batter). I mentioned this to our server after the meal and she said that this was not the first complaint and she will say something to the kitchen. Grilled gulf shrimp - these were not very grilled (I expected blackened), but they seemed to be warmed up somehow and were kind of juicy/watery. Also, they were extremely small sized, especially when paying $18 for 8 of them. They were also out of gumbo, which was disappointing to my girlfriend, but it also was near the end of the night. Would not order mozzarella sticks or shrimp again, and hesitant to pay this much for another entrée not knowing what type of quality I will get. Going to stick to lunch here.

Yelp
From the outside the warehouse doesn't look like much. Looks can be deceiving. Inside the restored floors and walls create a unique atmosphere. Service was attentive and responsive. Salads and sandwiches were fresh and quite tasty. Great place for groups to visit and enjoy each other's company in this neat place.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite lunch spots in town!! The "Haley's Special" is a hit in my house. Love it and the sweet tea! My most recent server, Austin, was an absolute doll! Would give 6 stars if I could!!

Yelp
This was my first time to come here at night. What a fantastic experience! This is great if you're looking for a very private intimate setting. I hate loud crowds. There weren't very many people here and I got the feeling it's that way most nights. The menu is a LOT smaller than lunch, although if you're not a picky eater you're guaranteed to find something on there you'll like. I had the shrimp and grits and my dining partner had a small sirloin steak thingie. We both loved what we had. They have a large martini and wine menu. They are known around town for their martinis. I got a wedding cake martini. LOVED IT, Y'ALL. TOTES. The martinis are all $8 to $10 which I think is totally reasonable too. So to sum it all up you can come here for a classy evening but you don't really have to dress classy.

Yelp
I had planned on writing a review of the food at the Warehouse, but that is now impossible as it never arrived! We waited 30 minutes for a below average shrimp dip, served with toast points, which were not toasted. After another 45 minutes, for a total of an hour and fifteen minutes, we had still not received four basic sandwiches. The couple we were with from Cleveland said they were not surprised at the terrible service. The waiter didn't even tell us an excuse for the sandwiches until we asked. Then he said they weren't close! Please avoid this place and don't waste your time as we did. There are other great places in Cleveland you should try.

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer and a bite during a business trip. I had shrimp & grits and a cold local brew. Everything was delicious and service was quick and courteous. I'd definitely come back again!

Yelp
I've been here twice, and the most annoying thing is that if you want to order anything other than an appetizer, you have to go to the restaurant side to sit and wait forever for your food. I tried fried pickles for the first time here on the restaurant side because friends I was eating with ordered sandwiches, but the portion was pretty small, although I didn't need a lot of it. The second time fried pickles were ordered on the bar side, they were quite larger. The tempura fried goat cheese balls drizzled with honey and cracked pepper was awesome, but overpriced for 5 balls ($10). The beer, wine, cocktails, and liquor selection is large. Scotch is priced from $8 to $14 (I believe) a glass. Beer and wine prices seem standard, but everything else is a dollar or two higher than I'm used to. I did enjoy the booths and large tables with stools we could combine for bigger groups. Overall, fond memories here, but I'll probably stick to Hey Joe's for the most part unless the occasion is a bit more formal (which is the point).

Yelp
The food is good, and they have an awesome menu of salads, sandwiches and personal pizzas. Wide open restaurant with lots of room. We had a reservation for a large group, and they were totally accommodating. The only major thing was that the waiter didn't stop by the table enough. We were frequently waiting for refills, and trying to find the waiter. Still, a great place to eat in town.

Yelp
Went to The Warehouse for lunch on a Sat. I had the broccoli and pecan salad with chicken salad on a bed of lettuce. It was excellent. I would have rated 5 stars if It had more than just 2 or 3 pieces of tomato. Great place to eat.
google avatar

JD M.

Yelp
My waitress was friendly and did a good job. Through some issue in the kitchen I waited 40 minutes for Chicken Fettuccine. Then when it comes out I am given a bowl of noodles drowning in butter sauce and about 4oz of mediocre grilled chicken for $18. I should have taken the receptionists guidance at my hotel and ate else where.

Tony G.

Yelp
Served by "Stormy"- appropriate for the weather today. Salad was great. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the lunch crowd was fairly quiet. Tables are spaced to give ample room to get in and out without interrupting other customers. A great place to put on the calendar!

Yelp
Had a great meal of shrimp and grits last night. Along with a $5 martini (also delicious) Great atmosphere friendly staff too!

Yelp
Food was good, not great. Service left something to be desired. Didn't like the soup being served in styrofoam.

Emily K.

Yelp
Our group arrived at 6:45 tonight. It took us 30 minutes to get drinks, an hour and a half to get appetizers, and over two and a half hours for our food to arrive. When dinner finally arrived, it was cooler than lukewarm. It took our waitress 20 minutes to take care of our checks and there was no apology up until that point. There was no discount for the wait and they neglected to use the coupons we had brought. We could see the kitchen staff wandering around and our food sitting under obviously ineffective heat lamps for more than half an hour. We were fuming when we left three hours later and highly disappointed that one of the supposedly best restaurants in Cleveland was such a letdown in so many ways.

R P.

Yelp
High priced, bad food, pitiful service. That pretty much sums it up. The items on the menu are pathetic. Everything is hot and spicy. Some people might like that but there should be something on the menu that is not covered in spice. Even the mac and cheese was gross. I ordered it for my daughter and she took one bite and spit it out. I tasted it and spit it out too. A place has to be pretty pathetic to screw up mac and cheese. I am not sure what they did to it. I see no point in returning and would suggest that other people try somewhere else. Oh, I forgot to mention - My family and I tried to eat there a while back. They were not very busy; lots of empty tables. We needed a table that could seat 10 people which meant sliding tables together. They flat refused to do it. They said they didn't want to mess up the waiters' areas. So what they meant to say is they are in business to suit their waiters and not their customers. Good thing though, we went to another restaurant and had a great meal and a great time. Neither would have happened at the warehouse!

Jeff J.

Yelp
One of my favorite lunch spots. Owned by a local family and as close to a deli as you will find here. I usually order the Kinnison named for the famed Delta State Baseball coach. Never had a bad sandwich here. If you are seated by a older hostess that's the family grandmother. A sweetheart.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
The restaurant that used to be an icehouse and now looks rather stark, this place offers very different menus for lunch than it does for dinner. I got the Warehouse special, which was chicken salad with broccoli salad. Tasty, but too sweet and too many grapes...I ended up giving the rest to my friend. Atmosphere is friendly and rustic and the waitstaff are nice but slow. I wish I had been there for dinner instead.
google avatar

Meredith B.

Yelp
Delicious food, great atmosphere. It should be noted that their lunch and dinner menus differ and there is much more variety for dinner. For lunch, the Haley's Special sandwich is a must have, and for an appetizer for dinner, the fried eggplant is delish-it comes with a great dipping sauce. I do have to complain a little, however. I asked multiple times for their full menu to be put online, but it never happened. Sometimes the service can be slow, so prepare to be there for a while if you go.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've visited, but if they still serve the same shrimp and grits recipe I enjoyed on several occasions, it's worth the trip. Though I have tried many times, I've yet to find another restaurant serve a recipe as good as that one.

Yelp
Best non bbq restaurant in the delta. Great caesar salad. Sandwiches, apps, all good. Service about as good as it gets. Great beer selection and good mixed drinks as well. Can't miss. Only weird thing is it is hard to find. Go behind Hey Joe's and its the warehouse

Chris J.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Service was very poor. Two hours for lunch and wrong items were brought to the table. Waiter was rude.

Yelp
my boyfriend and I went on dates here when we were in high school & loved it so but tonight we were so disappointed:( we order spinach artichoke dip as app & go ahead and order our entree as well (which I usually hate doing because they bring it out at the same time-can't enjoy app!). 30 minutes pass and still haven't recieved our app. Our waiter checks on us a total 2 times in that 30 min span, so the second time he came around asking if we were ok, we ask, politely, where our app was & he responds in a way like he had completely forgotten about our app... :-| 5 min later it comes out.. with our entree. The dip comes with Tostitos chips (no joke) and wayyy too much cream cheese. Boyfriend got the steak (said it was bland) and I got the BBQ sandwich (feeling basic tonight) and it was great! I love love LOVE the sugar coated fries. The manager covered our dip, which we are grateful! Sweet staff, just not so impressed with the service :((

Yelp
Absolutely love this place for date night with my wife. Get the catfish and grits or the shrimp and grits.

Mel N.

Yelp
It's a great interior, but the food is overpriced and mediocre. The waitstaff isn't very friendly or accommodating if you have a larger party. Some of the appetizers are pretty good, but pricey. The martinis really aren't anything special, but seeing as they're the only ones in the area that make them, it's at least an option.

Lisa C.

Yelp
The Warehouse is great. They have an amazing dinner menu- the goat cheese balls are delicious as is the french onion soup and the ahi tuna. The service is great too!

Margaret M M.

Yelp
Love the ambience and unique seating arrangement. Our Waiter was not only friendly he also had a great memory. I found the food extraordinary. I had the Shrimp and grits along with sugar fries which I had not ever heard of and they were lovely. The coconut cake was seriously out of this world. Light, fluffy, extremely fresh and flavorful. I would go back just for this dessert. Truly memorable.

B G.

Yelp
Our waiter was great and attentive but he should have been since the place was damn near empty on a Friday night (first clue). I've been coming here for years and the food has been very good. After a year in another state, I came back and just HAD to get my favorite hamburger steak and cheese grits. Well the meat was burned, gravy came out of a package(used to be made from scratch and DELICIOUS), the grits were cold and gnats were everywhere. I don't know what happened to this establishment but something needs to change. I won't be back at all.

Alisha R.

Yelp
My visit to the Warehouse is always a good one. Although I recently had dinner there and i have to say that i love our waiter (Ben Little). I ordered the lasagna but it had to much sauce for me so I asked could i return it and order something else from the menu. He came back and said that the manager would allow me to place another order but i would have to pay for the one I did not eat... I was surprise, never have I been to a place where they do that. So i just cancelled the other order placed, I lost my appetite.. So i would make sure that if i do return not to order something that is over loaded with sauce and nothing else.. What a night not to remember..

Sarah C.

Yelp
Lunch is great! Dinner however is a different story. I went on Thursday night for Martini night. They serve 5 dollar Martini's. I receive my ticket and my martini is priced at $8. I ask the waitress if they are not doing 5 dollar martini night anymore. She takes my ticket with her and asks another employee. She comes back with a new ticket and says she didn't know about Martini night. My new ticket has total similar to the last ticket. When she comes back to the table I ask her why the price is hand written in. She says it includes the tip. I know gratuity is included in tables over 8 at most places but we did not have 8 people in our group. She assumed I wasn't going to tip because my first bill was incorrect. The first total was $18.36, the new ticket had $15.86, then she crossed out the $15.86 and wrote $18.12.
