The 17 Best Restaurants In Mammoth

"Inspired by the original name for Canyon Lodge (one of Mammoth Mountain’s ski lodges), The Warming Hut has a huge dog-friendly patio that’s perfectly placed on Old Mammoth Road for people-watching. While they’re open for lunch and dinner, the best time to come is for breakfast, which is served every day until 3pm and includes variations of hash, pancakes, and waffles. Or, use the D.I.Y. section to build your own perfect breakfast. Obviously, that’s a highly personal decision, but if you need some inspiration, we almost always end up ordering eggs over-easy with smoked brisket and house potatoes." - danielle bauter

What a cute spot! This place is lovely and located on a busy street. To get in, when we went, there was a 50 minute wait time. However, once you get a table, the waiters and waitresses ensure that you are attended to and take care of you well; they are very kind. It’s also very cozy inside. As the for the food, we thoroughly enjoyed them. The rueben tasted fresh and the meat was very high quality. The fries could improve, but at least they tasted good. Overall, great experience. Everyone should eat here at least once!

Google
great place to try. Make sure you make reservation otherwise there is a long wait. We had fried chicken and waffle and prime rib, which are the recommended dish. Got my 6 year old the grilled cheese sandwich and fries. We all like the fried chick dish the most! The home made syrup was delicious and buttery. The grilled cheese is okay the bread is subpar and too dry the cheese is just the usual fake cheese.fries and ketchup are freshly cut and home made. Prime rib is good portion. We went back for Happy hour the next day and we love the chicken wing appetizer! Highly recommend the Thinly breaded lemon pepper flavor! kid size burger is fresh and yummy.

Google
Nice place with a friendly atmosphere. The food looked and tasted delicious! It was a bit on the pricey side but worth it, as we were starving after a long trip and ended up ordering a lot.

Google
Perfect little spot for great food with a creative twist. The Mountain Cuban Sando was the BOMB! The tomato bisque was fantastic, and the Seared Tuna salad was HUGE and delicious. We hit the place for lunch, and will be back for their happy hour.

Google
A convenient place for us to eat, with a friendly staff and open table. Great tomato bisque soup, too! My grilled chicken sandwich (the meat) was tough- not what I'd call juicy and easy to bite through. Very stingy on the pesto, but when I asked for more, it was provided. I heard the burgers were good.

I came here for a late lunch after going to a hot spring. The name Warming Hut is true. It was very warm and cozy. This place was packed when I got here, and there was a short line. We were seated shortly. I asked for a hot water, but I believed our server forgot about it, and I did not get my water until we finished eating. We ordered a burger and soup of the day (French onion soup). The burger tasteless, fries were soggy with any seasoning, and the French onion soup does not have cheese on top. The soup was a bit watery too. I will probably not stop by again as there are other better options in the same area.

Pig Pie

Google
Nice place. Servers are loud (the guys) and appear drunk or stoned. They forgot my drink. I liked the food. I had a burger with fires. The burger was good but the fries seemed old. Something was not write with the fries. I would come here again but I hope I don't get the stoned server again.

Google
Our lodging was nearby The Warming Hut and it was recommended to us by the condo owners. We visited on two separate occasions and both times we thought the food to be average. The atmosphere is cozy and the location is convenient. The service by the host was a bit confusing as he didn't seem to really know much about the menu or drink options but our waitresses on both occasions were kind and helpful.

Yelp
We got here for a late lunch. They seated us promptly and we requested a seat change out of the corner which they accommodated without issue. Once seated our server told us right away they were switching to Happy Hour Menu in 20 minutes to prep for dinner service so requested we place our order post haste. We were a group of 7 and had a variety of food items across the table. The food was pretty good all around. The rueben was spectacular. We were checked up on sufficiently and staff is great here. If it ain't obvious yet, we had a great experience here.

Yelp
Oh my... where to begin. First off I really wanted to like this restaurant. After mountain biking and hiking the hunger meter was high. I like to start with the positives so here it goes. Clean restaurant with nice ambiance. Friendly staff. And, that's it. On the "room for improvement" list: -- after we ordered and our food arrived we never saw our waiter again, until it was time to pay. No checking on us, if we liked the food ( we didn't - burying the lead) , or needed more to drink ( we did, even though the drink order was not filled properly to begin with ). Two of our party ordered the large prime rib dinners. One was close to the expected size, the other about two thirds the size - conveniently the size of the smaller order for a smaller price. Only we paid full / large size prices for both. We ordered medium rare for both. Nope. Well done is an understatement. No joke I move the table sawing through my not so prime rib. The edges were leathery and more like a jerky than a recently cooked piece of meat. We ordered rice with our rib, single scoop, toddler style. The whole thing came on a child's plate - presumably to make the whole thing look bigger. Now for my 10 year olds dinner. Chicken and broccoli. He tried to be polite but couldn't eat the chicken. Odd taste. Leaving it at that. Other food served was mediocre at best. My wife's salad was ok, but it's tough to mess up lettuce. And then the bill... yikes!!! $240. Was so pleased through added their own gratuity of 18% when we had close to zero service. A tip is meant to recognize, well, good service? Overall I am disappointed with the food in Mammoth and this was no exception. Go to Vons. Cheaper, better, and the service is nearly the same.

Yelp
While visiting Mammoth we were craving some pancakes and of course this place popped up and it didn't disappoint one bit. The most delicious pancakes I've ever had, their maple syrup is to die for and you can even buy a bottle to take home. We had a party of 4 and we were sat right away. Their service was great, very attentive and fast and our food came out warm and fast. Their orange Juice is FRESH and hits the spot for sure. We had their hash, with a side of 1 pancake they are pretty big so you can share. We also had their Tomato Bisque soup and it was so yummy and vegan as well. All their breakfast options looked great. Can't wait to try their lunch and dinner menu. Love that they have a bar as well. A place where you can get it all. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this place but a solid 10/10 honestly. We loved it and can't wait to be back. They had a good amount of parking, bathrooms were small but clean and had a changing table if you have little ones. They also have a good size waiting room for those chilly days if you had to wait for a table. The ambiance was chill and love the feel of the place warm and cozy and great food!

Yelp
Very nice staff that works hard to provide good service! Lunch and breakfast items available at 9:00 AM. Portions were ample and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Cute atmosphere that makes you feel at home.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We were immediately greeted by super friendly staff. Great dog friendly patio. The food, I can't even describe how delicious everything was! We had the chilaquiles and added the daily special Birria to it. YUM. The Traditional Hash was also the best we've ever had. Now, let's talk about the buttermilk pancake and maple syrup. WOW. I'd go back just for the pancake. Be sure to stop in here and check it out. From the friendly staff, great service and amazingly flavorful food, you can't go wrong. We will certainly be back every chance we get.

Yelp
The food was not good ! Our waitress Chelsea W was rude, she threw the receipt on the table and gave me a dirty look bc I had told her I was not satisfied with my food. She was talking back to me, Excuse me ?? Where's the respect to the customers. This restaurant needs to do better. Overpriced and not even worth your money !! How does this place have a 4.3 star when the food is not even good not one bit !

Yelp
I was really looking forward to visiting The Warming Hut, but unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. From the moment we walked in, we were met with indifference and a lack of basic courtesy. The staff seemed irritated by simple questions and acted as though helping customers was a burden. There was no greeting, no smile, and no effort to make us feel welcome. When I asked about a menu item, the response was curt and dismissive. Even during checkout, the interaction felt rushed and cold, as if we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests. The location is great and the atmosphere could be charming, but the service really soured the whole experience. It's a shame, because with better training and a little hospitality, this place could be so much more inviting. I won't be returning anytime soon, and I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a warm or friendly environment.

Yelp
Wonderful service, good and atmosphere. We went here for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the course of 5 days. We were only disappointed when they ran out of brownie sundaes, otherwise everything was amazing.

Yelp
The Warming Hut is a busy restaurant, but it didn't take long to be seated. Good and hot coffee kept coming. Fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. The waffle was tasty but not hot. The Malibu Benedict was recommended, but a little disappointing as the tomatoes were not grilled as described. Also, the potatoes were not cooked to my liking, but the server was really pleasant and brought back perfectly crisp potatoes. Service was friendly and accommodating. The setting is cozy in a large cabin setting.

Yelp
Amazing experience here!! Immediately fell in love with our waiter Joey! He made us feel so comfortable! He even sat and made airplanes with our kids and he even flew them with them outside. The food is amazing as well. What a special place!!

Yelp
What a cozy lil spot that we stumbled upon in Mammoth. I went in on a Sunday, prime time for breakfast, and the wait was 30ish minutes. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a lot of menu items ranging from soups to hash skillets. They offer something for everyone. They even have a huge portion of the menu as a 'DIY' section which I loved! I ended up ordering an egg white omelette with tomatoes and a side of a biscuit. My boyfriend got a chocolate chip banana pancake with the Traditional Skillet. I was quite disappointed in the biscuit, I've had better elsewhere. The pancake was airy and fluffy with a generous amount of chocolate chips and bananas. The maple syrup was some of the best I've ever had. This was a 10/10 and I wish we had more! The Traditional Skillet came with potatoes, eggs your way, and corned beef. My boyfriend really enjoyed this but I couldn't help but notice all the leftover potatoes. Was he just full or were the potatoes not that good? The corned beef was made in house and delicious. I would order a side of this next time! Overall, the menu is large and there are a lot of things you can try. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service is just enough to go back. I would also like to try other menu items. A great stop when in Mammoth!

Yelp
There's a parking lot in the back. The food here is hearty and cozy. The staff here are very friendly. The food came out relatively quickly. - Chimichurri Ribeye: My favorite! The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and was a good amount of protein! The mashed potatoes were scrumptious. The green beans were ok. - The Texan: This brisket sandwich was saucy and delicious. The sweet potato fries were crispy with the side of ranch sauce. - Seared Ahi Salad: I really liked the salad, dressing, and crispy wontons. The ahi tuna was ok, it didn't taste that fresh. - Crispy Brussel Sprouts: Everyone on the table enjoyed this appetizer very much.

Yelp
I was looking for a good double cheeseburger and found it. Took advantage of the $12 happy hr price +$2 for extra patty. Cooked perfect diner style, served with fresh green leaf lettuce and tomato slices. I went at start of happy hr (3:00) and place was mostly empty except for a few locals having a good time. I can honestly say that I loved Warming Hut's cheeseburger and laid back atmosphere, and I probably will be back.

Yelp
We were here for a late lunch, came into the door 2:52 pm, the guy received us told us that we only have 8 mins to order from breakfast and lunch menu, and after 3pm, only happy hour menu. We rush to the table, immediately made the order, and the food was on the table in no time! My smoke salmon bagel taste great, except the raw onion. I can't take that. Daughter is way too hungry, she had prime rib sandwich and a chicken Cesar. Oh my god. So much food. We finished it by 3:23pm. Unbelievable!

Yelp
We really love this place for their food and service. They can be very busy during winter season and holidays. Flavors is on point and the techniques are what make this place so unique. This place represents the culinary forward of mammoth in the last few years.

Yelp
Decided to dine here before heading back home to LA. We had to wait about 30 minutes because it was a Sunday. While waiting, I noticed that they maple syrup for sale. So I decided to order the pancakes. Let me tell you, this was a big disappointment for sure. First off, the local maple syrup that they sell was also on this pancake. I know what maple syrup tasted like, this was straight up honey. The worse part of this dish was that the pancakes were undercooked as it was soggy in the middle. This is 2 strikes on them, so I will probably not come back here again as I don't see the appeal of this place when the food is just ok. I think there are better breakfast joints around town.

Yelp
There was 7 of us in our party and we all tried different items on the menu for lunch. Everyone's food had no flavor and it just wasn't good. The waitress also never came to check on us or ask if we wanted a second beer but wouldn't have ordered one because the beer wasn't cold enough and tasted flat. Should get a better experience when spending over $200 at a table! Won't be coming back here.

Yelp
Service was great! They are all so friendly and fun. Food was delicious and fresh. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
I had such a great experience at this restaurant for breakfast! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious -- everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. We ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, and Texas hash all amazing. I ordered the hot vanilla instead of coffee and it was sooo good !!! Definitely revisiting this establishment.

Yelp
Chilly? Cold? Freezing? Lukewarm? Your answer is the warming hut. And not only because it is actually warmer in there. But because it's warm AND they have great food and friendly service. We came here after a day of sport climbing and hot springs as one does in the Mammoth area. Having eaten nuts and bars for lunch (as one does in the Mammoth area), we needed a bigger filling meal. Warming hit delivered. I got a salad loaded with protein (much appreciated after using my muscles all day) and the boys got a fantastic looking sandwich and Caesar salad. Our drinks were refreshing, the food slapped, I truly have no complaints. And the service was truly fantastic. S/O warming hut for some solid end of day defrosting.

Yelp
We really liked this restaurant. The Warming Hut was full of friendly people, both the staff and regulars seemed very glad to be there. I had a Burger with swiss, that was very tasty, along with a bowl of extraordinary clam chowder. The portion sizes were just right, and the prices were pretty good. The inside was very clean and cozy, Will be going back, really loved it.

Yelp
Best restaurant in town! All the people who work there are great and the food is all homemade and you can taste it. The place is great, parking seems small but they get people in and out. Can have your dog outside. We went there just about every day on our trip
google avatar

Kia A.

Yelp
Breakfast is good!! I started my morning with a smile because of the delicious meal we had. We got the DIY breakfast-corned beef, potatoes, avocado, fruits (strawberries and blueberries) chicken and waffles plus americano and butter coffee (unique and yet tastes good!).

Yelp
The wait staff was amazing. Checked on us often. Food came out fast. Food was sooooo good. Highly recommend. Simple open location for breakfast.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place out for breakfast after seeing how many good reviews there were, but it was unfortunately quite underwhelming. We came on a Friday around 11 AM for a party of 2, and the wait was around 20 minutes. We ordered Eren's Chorizo Omelette w/Sweet Potato Fries and The Real McCoy Breakfast Sando. I guess the kitchen was really backed up that day because we waited almost 30 minutes for our food to come out, which was way too long in my opinion. The omelette was just okay. The chorizo wasn't mixed in the eggs like how it normally is and didn't taste right. The breakfast sando had a sausage that had an interesting taste, not your normal sausage, which made the sandwich alright. The place is pretty decently sized with indoor and outdoor seating. There are a good amount of waiting staff, so it wasn't an issue when we needed something. Maybe we went on an off day and ordered the wrong menu items, but I expected more.
google avatar

Yelp
The Warming Hut is a popular spot in Mammoth. Based on the reviews the diner seemed promising. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed, to say the least. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, which were described as a deconstructed chicken pot pie. The gravy was delicious but the biscuits were just way too hard. As a result, I was only able to get through a third of the dish. The lake Mary mocktail was good though. Made with sparking water, pomegranate syrup, and lemon juice, the drink was pretty refreshing. ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. Average. Might return if others drag me. 4 Stars: Yum! Likely to return. 5 Stars: Amazing! Would plan my day around it.

Kenny C.

Yelp
We came in a group of 6 the wait wasn't too long. There was so much I wanted to choose from on the menu but I settled for a Big Ben hash and added exta corned beef too it. Had a perfect slice of prime Rib in there. And those pancakes are just perfect! It definitely hit the spot after a morning of fishing.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Service was great, and the atmosphere was buzzing with light-heartedness. I definitely recommend this place. 10/10

Yelp
Great food! My daughter absolutely loved her chicken & waffles. My husband enjoyed his Rueben & my chicken & waffles was good too. Very friendly service. Great atmosphere- very cozy

Yelp
We found this cool spot for breakfast and took a chance. We had excellent service, and the food and drinks were good. We would definitely come back here again. Nice cool atmosphere and we were not disappointed as it was a good experience overall. Parking lot is a bit small, and they do get busy but it's worth a small wait for some good food, drinks and service.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Amazing service, even better food. Every ingredient tasted so fresh. We ordered Chilaquiles w chorizo, Big Ben w poached eggs, tomato bisque, biscuits and gravy, and eggs Malibu. Homemade ketchup is phenomenal. The only thing I'd skip next time is the tomato bisque, but that was great too. Just needed some bread. Honestly best breakfast place I've had in a long time. Finished the meal with a waffle banger. Perfect level of sweetness. Best meal we've had in mammoth by far.
google avatar

Courtney D.

Yelp
The Warming Hut has been in Mammoth for a very long, which is hard for a town that thrives on mostly seasonal business. Every time I come to Mammoth, this place takes forever to get in, so I've never gone. That being said, I'm up here on my anniversary and we were lucky enough to get in without a wait and yes, we were not disappointed. The food was extremely quick and good quality. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. And the ambiance was warm, cozy, and overall inviting. I can understand now why the wait is so long, the place is tiny but super cozy!! They also open at 9 and have cocktails too! This may seem odd to hear since most people don't drink that early but when you get up at 330 to drive to Mammoth and you finally arrive then you want definitely want a cocktail. This place does not disappoint.
google avatar

Attosa C.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! This is the second time I have visited. I came here last year with my boyfriend. Both visits were excellent as far as food, service and ambience. Please don't miss this place out - an absolute gem.

Yelp
The brisket grilled cheese and tomato soup was amazing! The soup had so much flavor! The food came out really fast

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, and warm food! Service is amazing; always greeted with a smile! Their pancakes, waffles and Coffee ...are the BEST! Our Family special spot! The ambiance is great, and has a great bar area with special drinks!!

Yelp
Finding a line at 9am left me wondering if we'd ever get in, but this team is really on it and they know how to crush the rush! While the line wrapped the building, we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated in a cute corner of this log cabinesque building, which worked out perfectly. Rich immediately greeted us at the table and took drink orders. He brought those back quickly and got our food going too, and he was even chill about throwing a few additional sides on the ticket after we ordered. The whole experience was fun, friendly, and familiar. We really loved the service. My son had the banana split breakfast, which was actually wonderful. The yogurt was slightly sweetened, fruit fresh, and the sliced almonds added a great texture to it. Solid portion for the kids plate. I went with the chilaquiles because homemade chorizo, salsa and tortilla chips obviously. The salsas really hit, with the red being a little spicy and the green nice and tart. Eggs were perfect over easy too and that chorizo... get it. You won't regret it! Wifey had a Vegg Head scramble. I didn't taste it because I like breakfast with protein, but she enjoyed it. My other son had the chocolate chip waffle, and I must say, that is one delightful waffle! Seriously. This is a stop you need to make in Mammoth. They also have lunch and dinner too!

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere were both great! Nice vegetarian choices, easy modifications on a few items, and many house made dishes. Felt like more of a locals place which made the experience even better!
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
Great ambiance and the staff was super nice and attentive. The wait wasn't bad, about 5-10 minutes both times we went while we were in town for a mountain bike race for my son. We had the Benedict hash the first morning and then the breakfast burrito with chorizo. Food was cooked great and they use a local coffee company for their coffee which was really good as I like my coffee black, so that was a plus. Dogs were allowed on the outside patio which was cool.
google avatar

Leanne N.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast spot in town. 2nd favorite breakfast spot of all time. I always try to stop here when I'm in town. Only downfall is they open at 9 AM (I wish it was earlier). First off--their OJ is soo good. It's freshly squeezed. Second, I really appreciate their menu. Not many breakfast spots let you order 1 pancake, and they let you order it with alllll the mix-ins and topping available. That's one of the main reasons why I end up not getting pancakes. Last time I came I got them, but today we ordered The Kitchen Sink and a DIY - Corned Beef, Potatoes, Sautéed Veggies, and Avocado. The best corned beef I ever had, hands down. They say it's cooked in beer for hours. It was soo good. Both plates also came with homemade ketchup, which was an interesting take. The atmosphere in this restaurant is also very cozy. It's canon vibes for sure and has nice views of the outside. Make sure you stop by here!

Yelp
Our server did not make timely rounds. Our drinks were empty. We were there for my daughter's birthday and were told they'd bring by dessert. They brought by a brownie with ice cream. Nobody sang happy birthday AND we were charged for it. Very disappointed.

Bob B.

Yelp
This is a go to place when we are in Mammoth Lakes. Great menu and their desserts are amazing. Their pies are all made there from scratch. Be sure you leave room for one of them. That is if you try your best not to finish your main coarse, which is hard to do because they are delicious!

Natasha D.

Yelp
The host was super friendly. The food was great and our server was super attentive. It's a great casual and cozy spot. Recommend the burger and grilled cheese. Will definitely be back!

Arvin ..

Yelp
The breakfast is always amazing here. Pancakes are to die for. We been coming here for 2 years, whenever we come to town to ski, the service is always fast and the waiters are always super friendly and nice. We love the atmosphere but today was a bit different. Towards the end of our stay we all split the bill in 4 since we were a group we agreed that 2 of us will tip for the whole table in cash and through card. As we were leaving the waiter became hostile that 2 of us didn't give a tip and rudely shamed us in-front of the customers saying that we are no tippers and got them to start booing us. Upon leaving he shouted at us and called us bums while flipping us off. This is the first time we have seen this waiter and we are very sad to have been treated this way. Usually the waiter have been nice and respectful.

Yelp
My favorite place to eat and enjoy a happy hour in Mammoth! Great tasting food and friendly staff. Get a Power Drill and the dry rub wings and you're in for a good time! Best tomato soup and grilled cheese I've had dining out before. garlic fries are very good too. Nice main bar area and a big dinning room that can fit big parties. The wait can get long but its always worth it!

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick breakfast. The chicken and waffles were really good! The waffle was tender yet with a slight crunch. Chicken was cooked to perfection. Not dry at all. Yummy breakfast. Thank you.

Yelp
Has become one of go to spots in Mammoth. Plenty of options. Good spicy chilaquiles. Great customer service. Nice relaxed family ambience. Good reasonable prices.

Yelp
Everything here is delicious and perfectly flavored and cooked. We came here for lunch on a weekday on a cold day as a large group and they were able to seat us right away. Service was great and food was even better. We ordered wings, tomato bisque, the Texan sandwich, Grilled cheezy, and breakfast items like the Eggs malibu and the big breakfast with bacon (I forgot what it was called). The tomato bisque is vegan and it was great. Wings were nicely seasoned. Eggs malibu was delicious and even the tomato sauce was good. The brisket has a nice smokey flavor and the fries were so perfect from the texture to the flavor. Everybody on my table finished all the food. I would definitely choose to come back here for the delicious food.

Yelp
Great service. Server really knew menu and how food was prepared. Outdoor and indoor seating. Local beers on tap. Grilled cheese with brisket is a great choice. Solid Reuben as well.
