"You’ll have to cross Beacon Street to get to Washington Square Tavern from the Publick House (good luck with that), but once you’re there, try a spiced pear martini with a tableful of fried clams, calamari, and ice-cold oysters." - Valerie Li Stack, Erika Adams, Terrence Doyle

"The Washington Square Tavern is a dictionary definition neighborhood joint. Its dimly lit ambiance makes diners and drinkers feel as though they’re in some quiet south coastal English pub. Get a classic cocktail here — which is to say, get a Sazerac — because the bartenders know what they’re doing." - Terrence Doyle

An amazing local establishment. Great food, great staff, great service. The owner is a wine connoisseur, who also owns the wine paradise Beaver Brook Bottles, while his wife is the most amazing hostess/manager. Add to that great bartenders, full of character and cocktail selections. Always a great evening.

We recently moved to the area and a local told us to come. Came for the first time last night and it did not disappoint! Love the ambience, feels like an old world library. The red blend wine I had was fantastic. We did the tavern arincini as an appetizer and it was great and perfect portion so we did not ruin our dinner-- which were even more amazing. The steak in the steak frites was massive and my butternut squash or ravioli was phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back!

Always a good experience here, a very cosy pub atmosphere with a great beer selection. Their food is awesome and is definitely not pub grub! They usually have specials as well, the tuna was fantastic. They have heated outdoor seating as well through the winter with plenty of heaters, we will be back to sit outside!

The best outdoor dining set up I’ve seen in the Boston area! The food was delicious and the portions were great. The duck breast and octopus were particularly tender and scrumptious. Each table is provided with three heaters, so both my girlfriend and I were warm and comfortable (despite it being 15 degrees out). All Covid precautions were taken seriously and we will be back!

A 5 star would be a low end rating…this restaurant deserves nothing but a 10 star! Our first stop once we arrive in Boston! The food, the ambience, the staff, the knowledge of wines from all over the world and the selections are second to none! The food is consistently spectacular; from simplicity to exquisite, top chef, Luis is phenomenal creating daily dish specials that keeps you coming back! Thank you Jerry and Alma for a wonderful inviting neighborhood restaurant, that welcomes those near and far! 💕

Small place. Nice bar. Tons of liquors. Food Prices very high. Portions small. Friendly bartenders. Clean bathrooms. Street Parking very hard to find.

We had an amazing time last night at this tavern! Sam was great at creating a fun, social atmosphere that kept up there until almost closing time, the drinks were great and we will definitely come back next time we'll be in the area 😀

Located centrally in Washington Square. Excellent well hearted patio. We ordered Burrata, octopus, and gnocchi dishes and hot Toddy cocktails. Perfect for the weather. The stuff is supper helpful and attentive.
