We have been to the Watering Hull a couple of times. The food has been very good. The oysters were very good. The bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp was excellent, especially the marmalade sauce. The atmosphere is very comfortable and beachy.

Google
Game over... I found the best burger in Stone Harbor / Avalon. I get that The Watering Hull is known for its chowder - I had a bowl and it was awesome - but damn, the candied bacon on their signature burger was absolutely phenomenal. The rest of our crew had Mahi and Shrimp tacos and loved them too, but don't sleep on the burger, I'm telling you. The onion rings are really good too. We will be back!!!

David

Google
Wow - had a delicious, bacon crack cake with a side caeser salad for $28 here that was fantastic. This was honestly one the better crab cakes of my lifetime, and I’ve had HUNDREDS. And I’m a native Marylander! This is worth a send.

Melissa B.

Google
Loved it!! It's the off season, yet there were still a good amount of patrons inside...which goes to show you how good it is! I got the Crabcake sandwich with bacon and my BF got the Tuna Poke Bowl...both very good!

Google
I wanted something a little different and checked out The Watering Hull. They did NOT disappoint! Stopped in for a late lunch, ordered crab Rangoon, for appetizers, Hull punch AMAZING, MAHI MAHI taco.❤️ Service was good, good vibes, food came out timely fashion. Honestly, it felt like we were back in the Bahamas having a bit to eat. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Google
Really amazing spot in stone harbor. Tucked away upstairs, this place has great drinks, amazing atmosphere and solid menu. Kids loved the cheeseburger and Mac n cheese (the real kind). We go for the fish tacos crab Rangoon and strawberry margaritas

Google
My first visit was on a Friday about lunch time. Sat at the upstairs bar absolutely love the decor the bartender was lovely and she made an awesome margarita the food was absolutely awesome can't wait to go back.

No Reservation | Gets busy after 6:30 pm Our group had a wonderful time there. Their menu is not too big but has good choices of appetizers, tacos, seafood and other Entrees. I enjoyed the chickens wings with Honey BBQ sauce (they make the sauce themself), the shrimp taco was juicy, the mahi mahi tacos have mango toppings, which is amazing. They have a bar and serve all kinds of drinks. There’s children menu as well.

Yelp
This has gotta be the most modern, aesthetically pleasing & creative (food wise) restaurant in stone harbor. They're very with-the-times in offering gluten-free options and substitutes for many of their dishes, and a wide array of options for all types of eaters. I got the sushi bowl over a bed of zucchini noodles- beautiful presentation, the garlic aioli sauce coating my (hefty portion of) raw salmon was drool-worthy, and all the veggies were crisp and fresh. My table really enjoyed their bacon-wrapped shrimp and burgers as well! Will definitely return- not to mention the waitstaff is attentive, laid back and amicable.

John J.

Yelp
Very nice evening and dinner at the Watering Hull. Kaylee was an excellent server. She was friendly, attentive, and just nice. My wife had the crab Rangoon small plate, which was pretty good and I had the Hull house burger with onion rings. The burger was cooked to order. In my experience, they always cook it slightly more than you ask so just assume that if you ask for medium rare, it's gonna be medium rare plus. The onion rings were excellent and homemade versus frozen. Look forward to coming back.

Eileen K.

Yelp
This place was great!!! Atmosphere was fun and fresh!!!shore vibes with a crisp clean decor. The service was very good... our server was super attentive and the food came out piping hot, just how I like it!! The crab ran good was delicious, it was real crab, not imitation. The crab and tomato stack was so fresh and delicious, and big enough that you could eat it as a meal if you are not starving. The oysters were very good, although small and they could have done a better job shucking them. And the shrimp was delicious! Oh and let's not forget about the fries... crispy, hot and definitely home made! Overall if you're looking for a great place at the shore this is it!! I will be back again!!

Terri C.

Yelp
I enjoyed this lunch spot. We sat at the upstairs deck area, which has a covered shade and overlooks an outdoor area. It has the quintessential beach town vibe. I ordered the shrimp tacos, made with deliciously seasoned shrimp, pico de gallo and a creamy sauce. It was very good! It comes with a side of tortilla chips, guacamole and rice and beans. I didn't try the Buffalo chicken fingers but we shared it for the table and every bit was gone! The jerk chicken looked tropical with bits of pineapple - also very good. Nice ambience and good food!

Eva M.

Yelp
The mahi mahi tacos I had for lunch where absolutely delicious! I loved everything about them! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Topped with mangos! Additionally it was served with guac, nachos, rice & beans! Perfect portions! The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. We had an outside table and enjoyed the view!

Megan A.

Yelp
Food was fresh, flavorful and cocktails were cold and delicious. Jessica was a great server. Great place for a fast bite after the beach or as a stop over on your way to other adventures. The decor was also very nice as well as the outdoor seating areas.

Mags M.

Yelp
Friendly service but very average food. Burgers, nachos, etc. Thought the drinks were under average - cocktails just weren't made right.

Bob S.

Yelp
I'm going to look forward to it! I have a reservation for tonight at six, Saturday, October fifth.

Michael L.

Yelp
Food and service were really good. Thought the ambiance was also awesome. Good vibes here and would definitely recommend.

John N.

Yelp
I just don't get the better reviews. I honestly think most people do not have a clue what good food is supposed to taste like. Yes, I am a food snob. If that means someone who appreciates consistent, flavorful food... someone who can tell the difference between a cook or chef that knows what he's doing in a kitchen and a restaurant that uses quality ingredients. then guilty as charged. Had the crab stack. Bland, bland, bland. No seasoning on the tomatoes or mozzarella. Do you not know what extra virgin olive oil is? Do you know how to shake salt from a container. I mean come on!! I can keep going but you get the message. Not recommended.

Alexa M.

Yelp
Great place for a casual dinner with friends and family. Lots of tvs around and food is bar beach food. They don't take reservations so in the height of the summer, you may have to wait but grab a drink at the bar or shop downstairs and it's worth it!

William D.

Yelp
Nice people. Great service. Good food. Always a favorite when we're visiting Stone Harbor.

Sable S.

Yelp
I came here around 2:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon, with my fiancé. The food was really great and not too overpriced for being so close to the beach. The chicken tenders were great and my fiancé loved his burger. We ended up sharing his fries...though I'm not so sure he loved that because the fries were amazing. My fiancé loved the beer options. The only reason it has 4 stars was because the place was empty and the waitress was hard to hunt down. My fiancé had to go to the bar to get a beer. Also, the awning was quite loud and moved a lot with the wind on the second floor. Park a street over to find free parking. We will be returning.

Yelp
After a day of meetings my work bestie & I decided to stop by for some much needed drinks & snacks! ‍ I love how you get to dine "upstairs" here, there's something about being higher up that really elevates the experience. Haha. But seriously. We sat at the bar and our bartender was funny & nice. I accidentally broke a glass & they didn't make any kind of fuss about it which was nice. The Tuna Nachos caught our eye & they were SO good. I've now tried these at 2 places & liked both for different reasons, but the ones at Watering Hull have better wonton chips in my opinion. They're super light & crisp. Paired with the marinated ahi tuna & their sauces...simply delicious! The crab rangoon were good too. My favorite cocktail from the evening was their "Blood & Sand" a rift on a Manhattan with bulleit bourbon, sweet vermouth, cherry & blood orange liqueur, & a splash of OJ.

Carin R.

Yelp
This is a hard review to write. The place was lively, we didn't have to wait for a table since there was a high top by the bar. The bartender was as nice as can be but slammed. He was running back and forth taking orders and working the bar. We ordered the tacos and burger with some drinks. The presentation was great, the taste was amazing until we both had hair in our food. I literally started choking as I pulled it out from my mouth. My friend had hair mashed into her guacamole. I would love to give this place another try, maybe someone was having a bad day in the kitchen but I just can't.

Monte H.

Yelp
Great food and customer service... would definitely go back again... our waiter was the best!!! Ensured all our needs was well taken care of...

Suzanne Z.

Yelp
I don't understand how this place gets such good reviews. The food is fried, uninspiring and overpriced. Food took a long time to arrive. The mixed drinks are incredibly overpriced. We had a great table on the balcony, overlooking the plaza below. I felt as if I were at a mediocre hotel restaurant. Large families with kids, super noisy and crowded. I won't be returning.

Maria K.

Yelp
We usually sit at the bar and it is always a very social friendly atmosphere. Servers actually have eaten the food and have recommendations. Lively, beachy vibe w string lights at night and live music.

Shannon K.

Yelp
Back again a year later for vacation and we had to visit our favorite restaurant, and once again it did not disappoint. I had the Hull Chopped Salad with blackened shrimp (added for an extra cost). For dessert I enjoyed the Key Lime pie it was delicious!

Melanie K.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. A diverse menu accommodating to those of us with vegan and vegetarian diets. A little noisy but it was 4th of July weekend. Comfortable seating arrangements

Fjames R.

Yelp
Everything was perfect ,great place to bring the family food was very good ,service was excellent

Anastasia R.

Yelp
Easy lunch spot while shopping or taking a beach break. We went for apps to share including conch fritters and the crab wontons. I also had a side of grilled corn that was perfectly cooked. We were disappointed that they were out of sweet plantains, but were surprised they were on the menu in the first place. Also, some of the catchier entrees were only available for dinner so it's worth checking out the menu ahead of time. For me, the coconut mojito outshined my food although everything was tasty. The music and overall vibes were a plus! Also, it's open air dining with partial outdoor seats (covered balcony) available. We opted for inside for the cool AC and total shade on a hot day.

Greg K.

Yelp
Great decor, great service, tasty food, great drinks, what more could you ask for? To start, the restaurant stood out in the area by having ultra modern (but still sea-themed) decor. It felt fresh, new, and comfortable... easily setting the stage for a nice evening. It was a busy place, with most of the seats filled, but it's also huge, so we were seated quickly without reservations (not sure if they take reservations anyway). Service was spot on, with regular check-ins and food and drinks coming out super fast. For drinks, we got a few cocktails, all well made and tasty. I also got a draft beer that was nice and cold. The food was the star though, we stuck to apps, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything seemed super fresh (I'm pretty confident none of it was frozen). For me, the wings were a standout, so crispy, piping hot, and packed with flavor. My wife loved the Crab Rangoon, which were nice and crisp, but oozing with crabby, cheesy goodness inside. The Tuna Nachos were good, but I personally felt there were too many chips for the toppings, which led to a bunch of dry chips at the bottom that weren't so great to eat on their own. One thing to note, the restaurant is on the expensive side (especially the cocktails), but I suppose the pricing is fairly standard for the location. Overall, we had a great time at The Watering Hull and would definitely return.

Sydney B.

Yelp
Watering Hull was the place to be seen or be seen in Stone Harbor. The pork carnitas tacos, raw salmon poke bowl, shellfish chowder, tuna nachos, and strawberry jalapeño margarita were so on point. The mojito needed more lime and actually not dried out lime was only suggestion for night. Otherwise fabulous meal as always. Can't wait to go back. Parking across the street you have to pay for. Great group setting, date night, family spot, or just grab a drink spot. #bergerknowsbest

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I am sad to say I just had the worst experience at The Watering Hull. I used to love it and now will never go back. The drinks were mediocre, we waited an hour for our appetizers. The soft shell crab was spoiled and inedible. The tuna was old. We canceled our entrees and left.

Cc C.

Yelp
Really enjoy this place. Love the decor and their food is very good. Service was a little slow but food made up for it.

Jim R.

Yelp
Nice takeout dinner before we go home tomorrow. Everything was very good and the portions large. The Crab Rangoon with Sweet Chili sauce and the Lollipop Pork Shank were delicious. The Salad with Balsamic vinegar and crab was also very good, the amount of crab being amazing. The Seafood Festival has shrimp, scallops and half a Lobster over pasta. Very good but the pasta for our taste could have have used a kick maybe of some lemon, pepper and garlic. The Corn Dogs we're enjoyed by the kids! Well worth a try.

Yelp
Best restaurant on 7 mile island - great bar and oysters. Difficult to choose what to order. So many great options.

Yelp
Good food. Fun environment. Generous cocktails We've had dinner here several times. If you can catch the band, The Seabillys, here, it's a bonus!

Yelp
7/7/20 Last night we were going to eat at Fred's Tavern but - they took all the tables off the sidewalk anticipating severe weather-they were right. They have a very small patio area w an overhang and we were turned away as they switched over to take out only- I understand it but it hurts the business so much. We went where the storm winds blew us- which was over to the conveniently located Watering Hull. Very beautiful interior. I ordered 2 appetizers that I shared. Conch fritters and Crab Rangoon. Delicious!! Before we got our meal the powerful winds started blowing through the balcony tables and they have a little garage door type thing they lowered to protect the inside part. I was somewhat disappointed in the service- the girl was very pleasant but not really attentive and check backed once, never offered drink refills either. She seemed more interested in talking to her friends at the other booth. I think that's ridiculous when you have a nearly empty restaurant to not be attentive. Plus I always eat at off times. The food was good but very expensive. A burger and fries 18$. It was 1/2 pound burger so you were getting a decent meal. As you should at those prices. I don't think I would go rushing back but I was grateful to have a place that we could walk to. Also to try something different too. I would rank 3/5 stars. All things considered.

Steve S.

Yelp
We were here last year for afternoon apps and drinks so I decided to come back this summer for dinner. Food was excellent, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. We had the crab cakes and blackened Mahi-mahi tacos...great job from the kitchen. Just be careful, the WH has large tables which can accommodate big parties. So, waiting staff can get held up with orders and not be as attentive to smaller parties. Oh and lots of kiddos and murmuring in the early evening so if you have a touch of Misophonia you may want to come later in the night. Overall a great experience, will definitely come back soon. Oh

Marge H.

Yelp
My best friends and I were searching for a nice sit-down lunch in Stone Harbor and stumbled across the Watering Hull. After several compelling reviews from family and friends, we decided to try it out. After waiting for our table, we sat down and ordered. 1 hour later, our food was still not out. Eventually we got fed up and told our waiter to bring out the check and box up our food. We arrived back home hoping to finally eat, and the food was just mediocre. Definitely not worth the hour wait. Hope this helps.

Anita W.

Yelp
Great food , great management and a very fun time. The seafood and the portions are fresh delicious and generous. Highly recommended!!!

Neil C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in SH for Lunch. Perfect for a break from the beach for some good food, a beer and some baseball or football on TV and a great casual atmosphere.

Brady R.

Yelp
The Watering Hull is probably the most underrated spot in Stone Harbor. The decor is beachy but a tad elevated. It looks like decor you'd find in a recently redecorated beach house. I've been here for drinks at the bar before which it has the perfect vibe but never have tried their food. I'm glad I have finally got to try because it's pretty solid. For starters we ordered the crab rangoons & the spinach & artichoke dip with crab. The dips flavor was great & presentation was top notch. The Crab Rangoon was good but there wasn't enough filling so the wonton was more of the focal point. For my main I got the fish tacos. They were tasty and the fish was fresh. My only recommendation would be to go lighter on the toppings and really let that fish shine. Also crisp up the tortillas a little bit more, they were a little too floppy. But really can't complain on the tacos too much because it was a strong dish. I'm glad I finally tried the food because it unlocks another place in Stone Harbor I can add to the mix.

Peggy D.

Yelp
Came here for a light lunch and left happy. Loved the food and cocktail. Conch Fritters were good. Hard to mess up bacon wrapped anything. Only slight complaint is no kick in Hananero Shrimp Tacos. But that's common among all restaurants these days.

Patty g.

Yelp
We had an early dinner here; based on prior visits, we had high expectations. The food wasn't as lovingly prepared as we remembered and overall the experience was a bit of a disappointment. The mahi mahi taco had a large portion of fish, but it was cooked to death & dry. despite being there earlyish(5 pm), all of the food seemed pre cooked or like it had been sitting since lunch time, not freshly prepared. In our past visits we were very pleased- this time, not so much.

Mike F.

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. From the open and airy dining area to the scrumptious entrées, this was a slice of heaven talk to buzz the bustling shopping area of Stone Harbor. The shellfish chowder was tremendous! The seafood boil was perfectly steamed and seasoned with Old Bay; most places are heavy handed with that spice. Adult beverages were creative and fun. We loved the experience!

Katharine O.

Yelp
Had dinner with family at the Watering Hull and the food was pretty good! The price was a bit higher than I would have liked, but the food is decent enough that it made it somewhat okay. The bacon-wrapped shrimp was delicious! A little awkward to eat, but it was made so well. The bacon was the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, and the shrimp was fresh. The fries were well cooked and had a mild spice blend on them. They weren't too salty either, which is a huge plus. The crab Rangoon was good, but the shape of the Rangoon itself was a little odd and made it a little tough to eat without the filling exploding out. The conch fritters were alright, but they are way spicier than I expected them to be. The strawberry mojito was so tasty! Unfortunately, the "Tommy's Day Off" cocktail was terrible. I normally love lavender and lemon, and I usually do great with gin-based cocktails. But for some reason, this one tasted like a bathroom cleaner. There was WAY too much gin, so you could barely taste the lavender bitters or even the lemon juice. I don't know what lavender bitters they used, but the lavender was artificial flavoring, not true lavender liqueur. As you can see from the photo, it looks like the lemon juice curdled or something. I don't know what happened, since my mojito was made perfectly, but that cocktail was horrible. The waitstaff was EXCELLENT. All of the waitresses were so sweet and perfectly attentive!

Rex K.

Yelp
Our first night out in Stone Harbor we went to "the Hull" and weren't disappointed!! The spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer and then all four of us had tacos for dinner with some fantastic crab chowder as well! Veggie tacos and Mahi-Mahi! The girls discovered a great hot sauce there called Hanks that came in 5 varieties! They bought one bottle the next morning at Uncle Bills pancake house!

Anita G.

Yelp
I have just had such a great meal..the Hull House Burger is the best burger I've had in the U.S.A yet (in 7 months!) and the side of Grilled Corn is a whole corn and is seasoned so well. Oh did I mention the fries? Really great fries with skin-on. Relaxed atmosphere and chilled vibe. Highly recommend and service really friendly too.

Anita A.

Yelp
Went for lunch today to see old friends, and based on Yelp Reviews this seemed like the best place to meet to enjoy a long leisurely lunch. The positive part of this 3 star review is the location, layout/decor, and the fact that we were not rushed to leave... However the restaurant was essentially empty the entire time BUT we were made to wait to be seated at a table for 3 until we were all there The bartender was miserable, unwelcoming, topped with a very negative attitude. At first I thought it was just me for some reason (despite ALL my 'Please & Thank Yous') but my friend was also treated with no 'Hello' or any type of smile Our waitress was better but we waited so long to pay the bill we got up to find someone to help us out. The food was mediocre. I had a build your own Poke Bowl & chose to use Chicken (which looked and tasted like leftovers at least a day or two old) I do not think I will go back unless there is no other place to go, if ever eating in Stone Harbor.

J R.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Stone Harbor/Avalon. Good for kids and or large groups. Recommend tuna nachos

Brady S.

Yelp
I got the Habanero Shrimp Tacos and they were very good! Service was good and the restaurant atmosphere was very enjoyable. Prices on point for the area.

Nick C.

Yelp
Not bad for shore fare these days, I guess. Nice ambience without any views. Good service. Standard shore pricing: I got 4 scallops for $39. I can get 2# of wild caught American scallops at Costco for less than that. Four. This is the jersey shore these days, not anything like when I was a kid or even 30 yogo.

Heather G.

Yelp
Love this cute place in Stone Harbor. The ambiance and decor is really cute. They have a nice bar and I love the covered outdoor seating. The food is consistently good, never had anything I didn't like. The conch fritters are really good, we get them every time. I love the menu and variety. Cocktails are delicious. Def a great spot!

Sarah W.

Yelp
This place is a solid 4. First of all, we both love the atmosphere. It's clean, light, lots of stained wood, and also the perfect place for a potential rehearsal dinner for us. It's casual, and there's a square bar set up surrounding a TV in the corner, so Future Husband can get his sports fix instead of looking at me. Really love the open air concept too, to take advantage of in the summer. A garage wall of windows opens up on each side so guests can experience that "outdoor dining" vibe, but completely covered. The food is really good. After having no good very bad sushi earlier in the day, FH and I decided to skip on the poke bowl. He wanted steamed clams for an app. Truth be told, I always hate it when he wants clams or mussels for an app. It's just not a very Sarah food, so I ordered a side of sweet plantains with my salad, which FH hates. Just a subtle little FU. But even for not loving clams, these were pretty good and not too fishy. The Parmesan crostini was perfect for dipping. FH enjoyed his mahi mahi sandwich, which came with sweet potato fries. I tasted and they were good - like the thicker kind. I love a thiccccc fry. Omg, but my salad! As a basic bitch who loves fruit, I'm always trying to put fruit in my salads, but never have I experienced one with honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon. I mean really, did they just throw everything from the farmer's market into this thing? It was also huge - a big, leafy Sarah kind of salad. "very rare!" FH enthused, wide-eyed, as I asked for a to-go box, giving into the fact that I couldn't finish this salad all in one sitting. That never happens. This salad conquered me!!! The blackened salmon was so good - after asking for blackened salmon at the past few restaurants I've been to, it was nice to "meet" a Chef who actually listened. The only thing missing COULD be bread & butter for the table, but I noticed you could order this as a side, and honestly the portions are so sizable here, it may be even better that bread does not come fo free. I still can't get over all the fruits in my salad. I also wanted to let everyone know that as much as I enjoy honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon, they don't belong in a salad -- even one with raspberry dressing. So I ended up leaving some chunks when I came back to the room and devoured the rest of my to-go salad. I can't believe they even snuck in blueberries and blackberries here! Well played, Watering Hull, well played.

Clark J.

Yelp
Interesting mix of sports bar and date dining. As a single looking for dinner, I was seated on a high-top in a corner of the bar area. The only problem with that is the bartender had to be my server, and he did not get to me until he had taken care the bar customers. Anyway, the fish sandwich I had was very good. No complaints about the food at all. This was more of a sports bar than I had expected, with big tvs on all walls. Entertaining, actually for a single diner.
