This place is a solid 4. First of all, we both love the atmosphere. It's clean, light, lots of stained wood, and also the perfect place for a potential rehearsal dinner for us. It's casual, and there's a square bar set up surrounding a TV in the corner, so Future Husband can get his sports fix instead of looking at me. Really love the open air concept too, to take advantage of in the summer. A garage wall of windows opens up on each side so guests can experience that "outdoor dining" vibe, but completely covered.
The food is really good. After having no good very bad sushi earlier in the day, FH and I decided to skip on the poke bowl. He wanted steamed clams for an app. Truth be told, I always hate it when he wants clams or mussels for an app. It's just not a very Sarah food, so I ordered a side of sweet plantains with my salad, which FH hates. Just a subtle little FU. But even for not loving clams, these were pretty good and not too fishy. The Parmesan crostini was perfect for dipping.
FH enjoyed his mahi mahi sandwich, which came with sweet potato fries. I tasted and they were good - like the thicker kind. I love a thiccccc fry.
Omg, but my salad! As a basic bitch who loves fruit, I'm always trying to put fruit in my salads, but never have I experienced one with honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon. I mean really, did they just throw everything from the farmer's market into this thing? It was also huge - a big, leafy Sarah kind of salad. "very rare!" FH enthused, wide-eyed, as I asked for a to-go box, giving into the fact that I couldn't finish this salad all in one sitting. That never happens. This salad conquered me!!! The blackened salmon was so good - after asking for blackened salmon at the past few restaurants I've been to, it was nice to "meet" a Chef who actually listened.
The only thing missing COULD be bread & butter for the table, but I noticed you could order this as a side, and honestly the portions are so sizable here, it may be even better that bread does not come fo free.
I still can't get over all the fruits in my salad. I also wanted to let everyone know that as much as I enjoy honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon, they don't belong in a salad -- even one with raspberry dressing. So I ended up leaving some chunks when I came back to the room and devoured the rest of my to-go salad. I can't believe they even snuck in blueberries and blackberries here! Well played, Watering Hull, well played.
