Nestled in Williamsburg, The West is a cozy café by day and a lively bar by night, blending rustic charm with a solid coffee selection and fun cocktails.
"If you had put off catching up on The Boys, or you had a different boss, you wouldn’t be in this mess. But you didn’t and you don’t, so now you have to spend your Saturday in front of your computer. Instead of letting your mind wander to dark places alone in your apartment, sit on the back patio at The West with a cheap beer and your laptop." - matt tervooren
"For whatever reason, your boss frowns down upon drinking in the middle of the day. But you’re not in the office, and you know that a couple of drinks spurs your creativity (or just makes hours of spreadsheets go by quicker). Check out The West, a cafe/bar hybrid in Williamsburg where you can get work done in the backyard while drinking one of the 12 beers on tap or anything else from the full bar. When your boss asks you to jump on a video conference for a few minutes, just splash some water on your face, order an espresso, and move to a table inside." - Bryan Kim, Matt Tervooren
"The West may be a little dark for serious business meetings, but it’s a great option for any type of casual get-together. There’s a ton of bar and table seating inside, plus a sizable backyard with functioning wifi. They serve great coffee drinks in real mugs, as well as sandwiches throughout the day. Coffee is served until close (2am), but this place does turn into a bar in the evening, so don’t expect to pore over a spreadsheet with someone once the discounted shot and beer combos start." - Matt Tervooren
"If you had just hit Ctrl-S at any point during that seven-hour Excel session on Friday, you wouldn’t be in this mess. But you didn’t, and now you have to spend your Saturday doing it all over again. Instead of letting your mind wander to dark places alone in your apartment, sit on the back patio at The West with a cheap beer and your laptop." - Matt Tervooren
"Most cafe/bar hybrids have a pretty clear transition point when they stop serving coffee, start making cocktails, dim the lights, and turn up the music. The changeover at The West is far less distinct. People will grab a coffee to go at 6pm while others make use of happy hour shot and beer combos at the bar. The lights may be dimmed inside, but some people will still be typing away on their laptops in the backyard. If you’re looking for a coffee shop with a real bar program or a bar with solid caffeine, check out The West. The breakfast burrito is also a good way to start the day." - Matt Tervooren
