We just returned from staying at both the Westin in STT (2 nights at end of trip) and the Westin villas in STJ. After a very poor experience at the Westin STJ, we found the newly renovated Westin at Frenchman’s Reef a welcome improvement. The property is stunning with myriad places to drink and dine all with views of the water. We had an excellent dinner overlooking the pool at Luna Mar and a good lunch down at the Buoy Haus’s Sandbar. We were unable to have dinner at Isla Blue due to a corporate event but enjoyed cocktails the next day. We found the staff and servers throughout both properties very good. Our room was clean and well appointed with a view back towards Charlotte Amalie. My husband and daughter were able to book a jet ski excursion right at the property as well.

My wife and I stayed here last week. The purpose of our trip was a retreat for my company’s executive management team and Board members. The hotel itself is beautiful, and recently reopened after hurricane damage repair. Sadly, service was poor. One day, our room was not made up because they were short staffed, not a big deal, but it took forever to find someone to bring us fresh linens. The restaurants are poor with limited menus and very slow service. Who wants pizza and pasta on a tropical island? It would have been much more appropriate to have a seafood catch of the day or other examples of local cuisine. They had some great frozen tropical drinks, but they still charged the same amount if it was virgin or with alcohol. The resort is conveniently located, and easy to access other parts of the island, but the beach is dismal and a long walk from the resort. I would not recommend the hotel based on the service and limited restaurant menu items.

Please look at my reviews I’m not the type to post bad reviews. This resort really let me down. Let me start by saying we reserved our rooms 7 months ago. This trip is for my daughter’s sweet 16. First issue before we arrive ed is that they canceled the dinner we reserved for the night of her birthday. They canceled because they had several companies booked the hotel for their conference and I guess we were not important enough. To be fair they did refer us to a restaurant 15 minutes away that was happy to host our event. We arrived at the hotel at 4. This is the check in time and only 1 of the 3 rooms were ready. When we went in the room that was ready the TV had no volume. After several hours they replaced the TV. After 2 hour wait for the other two rooms we went in and didn’t have any AC. Keep in mind it’s very hot. They transfers us to a second room and that had no AC. We had to wait another hour and finally they put us in a room in another building that’s smaller and under ground. The good thing is that room had AC. This is a lot to have to deal with especially for the amount they charge for there rooms. Other than that the Resort is beautiful and rooms are nice.

The Westin in Frenchmen’s reef St.Thomas was very nice. The beds were great the pillows were amazing no stiff necks. I appreciate a good pillow. The grounds were well maintained and the location of the hotel was perfect close to everything. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. We stayed on the grounds first day and enjoyed the pool and restaurant outside of the pool it was cool. Very expensive though. The deli inside hotel lobby had sandwiches and were reasonably priced still high but not as high as restaurant. Next day we went to Megan’s bay which was very nice we also went to Coki beach which was a happening spot., Very busy. This is the Memorial Day weekend which I expected more people and it was overall not crowded at all.

It’s a nice hotel with beautiful views. They are working some kinks out with service. Nice pool (s) area. Negative, over charge on some items but the did correct. Laundry facility consists of one washer and one dryer for entire hotel and location is very far and not well marked. Work out facility is nice just very hot. Average temp was 82-85 in the workout area. Not a lot of consistency with service. If they want to get to a 5 star status, staff needs to have better training. Once they make some improvements it will be a great hotel.

While I am not one to write reviews regularly - I do read them and went into this property with apprehension due to the mixed reviews on this property. The Westin St Thomas has been recently renovated and is a beautiful property. We planned this trip on a whim and thought it would be great to check out a newly renovated property. We had read that the island and property itself as experiencing AC issues the week prior to our arrival - and this had us second guessing if we should change our reservation. However, we were extremely pleased and surprised by the service, quality of food and overall experience. We spent 4 days at the property and had no complaints whatsoever. We were able to check in early (around 1:30-2pm upon arrival) and received an upgraded room that was decorated with balloons for our anniversary. They delivered a bottle of La Marca rose on ice the second morning as a surprise. Lastly, they accommodated a late 1pm checkout as our flight was at 4pm. We heard from others that there were still AC issues in their room - but our room stayed around 70ish the entire time and we were comfortable. Luna and Sugar Fin had really good food - we really enjoyed their dishes and overall outdoor ambiance. The pools were fun and we were able to get towels/chairs whenever we went down. The coffee/gift shop was overpriced, but plenty of snack and drink options to keep in our room and really helpful to have on property. The Westin St Thomas managed to meet/exceed our expectations in key areas, making our stay enjoyable and memorable. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and time in St Thomas and really enjoyed the Westin.

Had lunch at Luna Mar after snorkeling and kayaking and it was delish. The phone never worked in our room though we notified them twice. On Thursday the pool didn’t have towels for 4 hours. We got one cart, then no more towels the rest of the afternoon. Had a lot of issues with housekeeping. First night they didn’t clean the room. Second day we were gone all day and got back from St John at 3 and the room wasn’t clean. I wanted a decaf and to chill but the room was a mess. Spoke to the manager and didn’t get much satisfaction. I expect better service from Westin properties. The housekeepers threw out a funnel that I brought from home to make tea for bottles. I told the front desk. Nothing happened. I notified the night manager asking for a replacement from the kitchen. NO ONE EVER FOLLOWED UP! We went to the Frenchman’s Coffee Bar and they didn’t have any of the $15 glasses of orange juice because they didn’t have oranges in the Virgin Islands. Really? The girl taking our order could NOT have been more unwelcoming and friendly. I don’t get it. We are spending a lot of money for a vacation and it seems employees could be more friendly. Juan, an employee in every restaurant was incredible! The only shining light on this property.

Took a week off work for vacation. It's been 3 hours and we are sitting on the sidewalk outside waiting for a room. If you actually want a room, any room, go to another hotel. They still don't know when we might get a room. This was planned months and months and months in advance. Poor customer service, poor management, poor planning. If you get there and have to sit on concrete after traveling for 13 hours, they will give you one free drink from the bar. What a joke this place is. Signed up for a room with a king sized bed. Got one with two smaller beds. Guess they were out of the room we signed up for after having everyone stand outside for hours after spending all day at the airports. Housekeeping skipped over our room. We did not have the do not disturb sign up, so our room was cleaned once in four days. No fresh towels or sheets. Body wash was completely out, so I hope you packed your own. Just happy to go home. We had to ask for fresh towels when we saw housekeeping skip our room again. So they handed us towels and began cleaning the other rooms around ours. It rained on days for the excursions and so basically you got to swim and eat at restaurants for a few days. Definitely can do those activities anywhere.

Yelp
This was my very first time visiting Virgin Islands and I had nothing short of an absolutely phenomenal experience! Upon arrival, staff were super informative, super helpful, and I had absolutely no issues finding my way around. Their beaches are inclusive and so vibrant and peaceful! Wonderful location for families as well! I'm actually looking forward to booking my next trip again because it was just so wonderful!

Yelp
The view was nice. That's the only positive thing I can say and I'm sure Marriott's response will Be "we are glad you enjoyed the view" without addressing everything else I'm about to say. The resort is unkept, worn down and dirty. The infinity pool is full of mold. The bathrooms are full of mold. The cleaning people apparently only surface clean. There were hairballs under my bathroom sink upon arrival and the door ledge and cabinet legs in the bathroom had inches of dust. Everything just looks worn and unloved, especially for the price you pay to be there. The shampoo and shower gel containers in the bathroom were empty and never refilled, even upon request. No one answers the phone! The people above us got locked out of their room on their terrace. We called both the front desk and security to try and get help for them. They were stuck there for 2 hours before someone finally came to help. The food is horrible. Avoid the Salt Shack! 6 people in our party waited an hour and a half for hamburgers that were supposed to be medium rare. They finally arrived extremely well done and hard as rocks. We sent them back and received more well done and hard hamburgers. We ended up leaving hungry and getting the only good thing to eat at the hotel - the potato salad in the hotel shop. I was here in 2012 and it was an amazing experience. This place has gone hill. My advice, spend your hard earned money someplace else!

Yelp
This resort is absolutely stunning and so nice, the perfect place to relax for a few days. The views were beautiful! Services was a little slow at the pool bar and they could use to staff it up a little more, but overall great experience.

Yelp
A true diamond in the rough. Absolutely gorgeous setting- incredible views and some great staff, starting with Melanie at the pool bar. Food quality decent. Looks like they don't have enough help or can't keep up with maintenance though. The first time we used our shower, the soap bottle on the wall, which only had about 2 squirts of soap left in it, fell off the wall while attempting to use it. Left it on the shelf, hoping when housekeeper put it back she would notice that it was empty. Didn't happen- so the next when it was still empty- has to go out in hallway and ask a housekeeper for another bottle. Many have commented about condition of pool and mold around properrty- they are not wrong.

Yelp
Stayed here for a friend's wedding. The property is gorgeous and I like the restaurant options. However, when I arrived, my room was filthy. The issue was very difficult to get resolved and my folio is still incorrect. I called in to have it corrected but no one has gotten back to me. A few others in my party had incorrect folios as well. Not a good way to end an otherwise beautiful occasion.

Yelp
We stay here for work. I got upgraded to a two floor suite. Only a 27 hrs layover but I would definitely bring my family here. Staff is so polite snd genuine. Good offerings for food. Breakfast buffet was tops. No negatives; a very relaxing stay after a 9 hrs work day via MIA. 4.3 / 5.0

Yelp
I am staying here for a work event. I've stayed all over the world. This hotel has the least friendly staff I've maybe ever experienced. Bartenders/servers seem inconvenienced that I'm here. No one smiles and says good morning etc. Definitely will never stay here again, and will be warning all my friends too. I would give minus zero stars of I could.

Yelp
Great hotel with great service and amenities. The views from the pool were stunning. Highly recommend for a trip to relax and renew yourself

Yelp
1. Bugs on my desk and in my bed. I have pictures and videos and went to front desk to address and to make a long story short, showed no urgency, and received no type of compensation for having small bugs in my bed and have marks on me from the bug. Spent and hour going back ad forth. No COMP only room change. I plan to file a complaint with the board of health and call corporate headquarters. 2. No running water on night two for me to wash my face or take a shower. No apology to guests or even addressing it until had to ask. Got a part of one night reduced, but again unacceptable for a hotel of this brand to only offer that.

Yelp
This hotel was amazing. If you stay in the Virgin Islands I would definitely recommend this place. Kyra was a great help.

Yelp
This is genuinely one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. Every single worker had an attitude. Waited 1+ hour for every meal. There's a freaking fire alarm in every room that blinks bright light every 5 seconds and kept me awake all night. Didn't clean room til we begged them to. We checked in and all of the shampoo/conditioner was empty in our room. I expect muuuuuch more from a resort like the Westin. Honestly you pay for the service and every single worker had an attitude with every interaction. Took my drink glass and didn't even ask if I wanted a refill. Would never stay here again.

Yelp
Mold in the bathroom. Ac didn't work first couple days. Placed us in an ADA room with one tiny vanity when other rooms had a double. We were traveling with our kids so had 4 people in the room. Had to consistently request additional coffees for the room. Hotel is apparently remodeled but looks like a DIY fix and flip. Meals overpriced and underwhelming. Had a group meal the last night we were there which made multiple members of our group ill. The beach is very exposed and not great for kids if there is any wind. The Marriott is next door with a much nicer protected beach but we were told we could not use it. Despite the Westin being a Marriott hotel? Everywhere there are stairs which is fine for me and my family but if you have issues getting around navigating this hotel would be very tricky.

Yelp
Check in quick but wrong room accommodations. Reserved king sized bed with ocean view. We were told none available. The next day they had one available with an upgraded suite and some other niceties added in. The room is gorgeous and the view is amazing.

Yelp
For something on the beach it is good. A little weathered but good Lots of amenities I had no problem with parking Good service at bars is on island time Salt shack was good

Yelp
My boyfriend booked here for my birthday trip. I kept sending him screenshots of all the bad reviews thinking he had made a mistake but I'm glad he went with it. We had a wonderful stay here! The resort is soooo beautiful, the pools were the best part for me. There are 3 pools on the property but you can also walk to the other Marriott hotels and use their pools. Everyday I was up at 6am on the beach or in the pool. They even had a cute game of bingo at the pool and winners got free drinks! Anytime we ordered anything at the hotel I always confirmed ahead of time there is no gratuity to be added to our room because we are paying now and we had no issues, no extra charges. I will say there should be somewhere in writing advising guests there is a $200 per night incidental hold on your card. We were prepared because I read the reviews, there was another couple overheard explaining they don't have that type of money to be put on hold. Don't ask any of the hotel staff for food recommendations, they gave the worst suggestions. One recommended El something a Mexican spot that was in the hood, it was crazy. There is a shuttle but apparently it only goes to the beach so be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars in cabs if you want to explore the island. Our room was nice and accommodating nothing spectacular and our AC did work but sometimes it would shut off. My boyfriend had already pre booked us excursions throughout the island so we didn't do much on the resort besides relax at the pools and pool bar. When we did interact with staff they were always nice. Overall great experience, if we are blessed to visit St Thomas again we would stay here!
