The Westin Governor Morris, Morristown

Reserved hotel room blocks at The Westin Governor Morris for my client's November wedding in the area. From initial RFP to wedding day the team were amazing to work with. Every interaction with the staff from arrival to checkout was pleasant, accommodating and friendly. The location is clean, and well maintained; and as a Wedding/Event Planner I appreciate the 'Wardrobe Suite', which is great for bridal prep on wedding mornings. However, my client went for the Presidential Suite, which was spacious and allowed my client to have a top-tier wedding morning – enough space to have her bridesmaids with her, and for all 3 makeup artists to work. Special shoutout to Natalie who helped me with some last minute requests and did it with a smile, and grace. Much appreciated!

Very convenient trip from Wayne. Beautiful hotel with very nice conference rooms. Excellent service. Mitchell welcomed me in a very professional and friendly manner by opening the door for me. The hallways, dining spaces and other common areas were very clean. The general noise level in the hotel was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying over night, attending a conference or dining at the restaurant.

We blocked rooms at the Westin Governor Morris for our wedding weekend and couldn't be happier! Christina Rodriguez was an absolute delight to work with from start to finish. The hotel is stunning (rooms are slightly dated but still lovely), and they handled multiple weddings that weekend seamlessly. Highlights: Christina went above and beyond with breakfast setup coordination, even managing details while she was out of office. They were incredibly flexible with food storage from our venue after our wedding. We negotiated complimentary suite upgrades for us and both sets of parents. They included shuttle service to/from the venue and that was a huge plus. Great location near downtown Morristown, and our out of town guests loved the area. Monthly then weekly booking updates kept us informed, which was crucial with 85% of out-of-state guests. When we had last-minute breakfast changes (family issues, not their fault), they were insanely helpful and accommodating. The bellhops were phenomenal! Remembered our names and wouldn't let us carry a thing all weekend. Note: No free breakfast included, so budget for their restaurant or private buffet if you want a morning-after event. Highly recommend negotiating for upgrades because they can be very generous!

I stay here once a quarter. Great location, rooms, food etc.. I find the staff to be exceptional. During my stay this week I needed help with a project for work and manager Tammy B went above and beyond. Very much appreciated. I highly recommend this Hotel

This hotel is amazing! The rooms were comfortable and the beds were so plush. However, the hallway walls are thin so heard people being loud late at night. Clean, great customer service!

Impressive hotel . Nice lobby . Used conference rooms. Staff great. Food for conference was tasty. Plenty of parking .

I had a quick stay for work at this hotel. Check in was easiy and quick. The entry and lobby to hotel was very beautifully done and had a lot of nice seating areas in the front of the hotel. I also like that they allow the Uber eats drivers to bring your food up to your door so you don't have to go back down to the lobby. It was conveniently located close to my corporate headquarters and there are many other restaurants and shops in the town. The room was clean and well kept, but you could tell that the bathrooms were a little dated. If they update the bathrooms that would go along way to make it an even nicer stay..

We had a terrible experience at this hotel for my mother in laws wedding 2 weeks ago. First off, had a credit card issue regarding the hold amount. I called the day prior and they said they hold a certain amount if you pay with a credit card which was less than a debit. When I paid with my credit card they wanted to charge the full amount plus more. That was not what the guy stated on the phone. A manager came over and was so rude & said it was standard policy to charge the full amount & asked if someone else was supposed to pay for the room. No, I told him, I have no issue paying but was confused on the difference between credit and debit. He didn't even know. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels & it's not standard practice to charge the full amount plus more upfront. The manager was very rude and spoke down me which I did not like. Next, we get to our room on the 5th floor and the toilet/sink has chips in it, the shower walls were dirty, & the couch had stains. It was so noisy as well!! We woke up at 4am to a stampede above us. Apparently, there was a bridal party above us. It was miserable! We asked to be moved & were told they had no available rooms. I asked multiple times. They didn't even offer to comp us this night. It was like a dance club was above us & crying kids all around us. One other huge thing I forgot to mention. NO HEAT! It was freezing cold & they don't turn the heat on until November. My entire family was freezing. There were 20 rooms booked in our party. So we had zero sleep the first night & I was so cold I had multiple layers on like I was outside. Day 2 - We finally switched rooms which was difficult because we were getting ready for wedding rehearsal. The new room was quieter but still freezing. After our rehearsal we went to the restaurant/ bar they have. My niece was hungry so I ordered her a burger. $27.52 with tip. We waited over an hour to get it & it was so bloody she could not even eat it! We had to go and tell them to make a new one that took even longer. Didn't even offer to comp us for the long wait & undercooked burger. I charged it to our room because of how busy the bar was and we wanted to just leave. This burger ended up costing me $40 because what the hotel doesn't tell you is that there's an Opus fee. If you charge anything to your room they add on a $10.40 charge. Watch out for hidden fees. I had to look up what an Opus charge was. I complained about that & they offered nothing. I would have paid cash for the burger had I know about this charge. We called & asked if the rooms had freezers & they said yes I think so. Well, they don't. Here was the final breaking point for me. When we returned from the wedding my grandmother couldn't walk. She needed a wheelchair. I asked the front desk & they said they had one. Then they came back & said someone took it and didn't return it. We had to ask if we could borrow an office chair to get her upstairs to her room. It was so embarrassing for her. It took myself & her son to push her. They had this long ramp that went up to the elevator. I wonder if it's even Ada compliant. How could a 'luxury' hotel have only 1 wheel chair. That seems like an Ada issue to me. All of these things made our hotel stay miserable. We stayed 3 nights & they didn't offer to comp anything. They took no accountability for anything. They asked if they could call me to make things right & I said of course. Here's the list of people they tagged in that email: Daniel's, Angelo, Teixeira, Michael, Colon, Natalie, and the Westin front Desk. 5 people were on that email apologizing including Tammy ( operations manager ) but not one of them called me to offer me anything. I sent two more emails & they ignored me. It's been 10 days since I first wrote them. That right there shows you how much they care. It was the same vibe I got when at the hotel. No urgency at all. They just didn't care. Zachary at the front desk was the only one who tried to help us Stay away from this hotel if you can! What a shame because I've stayed at some great Marriott's but I won't be staying at their Westin locations any longer. I don't usually write reviews so you know my experience was bad.

The hotel appears to be well-maintained in the interior. I was upgraded to a deluxe room which unfortunately the beds are only full size/double they are not queen size. I never thought that would make a difference, but apparently it does! When I checked in the gentleman at the desk happily informed me that they had their pool open and since it was a 90+ degree day, I decided I would go outside to enjoy the pool. Unfortunately, it had looked like it hadn't been cleaned and over a week, the pool was full of leaves and debris however, I did venture in. The pictures on the website are slightly deceiving. The pool is much smaller in real life. After about 20 minutes, I started to hear a chainsaw, and many men on the exterior of the fencing began to cut down branches into the pool area! Probably not the safest idea when someone is already in the pool as you can see by the photos. There is a nice dining room on site however it is a bit pricey it was approximately $53 for a burger fries and a salad! The biggest problem that I found with the Hotel was the excessive amount of water softener used in the shower system. No matter how much I washed I could not get the slime feeling off. I ended up using the bottle of water from the room to rinse my hair and wash my face again in the sink. I probably wouldn't stay here again. Other issues that I thought might be a problem to other travelers, the hotel parking lot is slanted on a downward angle, so you are walking uphill with your suitcases once you park.... I thought that was quite unusual since they probably should've just leveled out the parking lot. The only other thing I would mention is that, although the gentleman at the front desk was super polite, I was entitled to a free breakfast due to our status, which she also informed me I would be getting but when we got up to the room, I realize he hadn't given us any type of voucher so I had to go back down to the FrontDesk and another gentleman wrote it out for us!

Came for a family wedding. Room was decent. After check out, I reviewed my bill and they added a $500 smoking fee. We 100% do not smoke. Trying to dispute the charge with zero luck. We will never be staying here again.

This is a review for the ball room banquet facility. Came here tonight for a banquet. Our banquet is in the ballroom on the second floor. Started out at 6pm with hors d'oeuvres in the tiny waiting area. Luckily there were not too many people waiting around, otherwise I would feel like a sardine. The food served were good, but I don't feel that there were many varieties. The ones I tasted were good. The ballroom opened at 6:30 for guests. The salad was already at the seat when we walked in. It was not bad. The roll was cold and hard. My main course was chicken. It was actually very good. The steak looked good too, and service was good. Not sure I like the chocolate cake. It was clearly packaged, not baked on property. Overall a nice experience. Staff was definitely very nice.

This is not really what you would expect out of a Westin product.. it's totally dated. Gym equipment from the 80s. No executive lounge aka consistency. The breakfast they offer is only continental but there hot food out and you can pay extra if the waiter catches you I guess your in the hook?? Really? The burger in the restaurant was the lowest option item on the entrees at 23$.. extremely overpriced. The AC/Heaters in the rooms are old school and loud as a freight train. Try sleeping next to a garbage crusher all night and wedding people yelling in the halls. Bathrooms seem updated but were done on the cheap.. rebrand this one to a lesser value . Loyal customers deserve the same and this ruins the Westin brand

Cons: Hot water takes 10 minutes to get to the 6th floor. No water pressure. Showers are dated. No robes. Painfully slow wifi in the rooms and at the conference center. Flickering lights by the night stand. Restaurant not open at all. The bathroom soap is the worst feeling soap I have ever been given, worse than any budget hotel I have stayed at, and feels like friction going on my skin. Catering for meetings is awful. They bring the breakfast and snacks and then they immediately take it away, barely leaving any time. The meats at the hot food lunch are all over cooked. Pros: Nice looking lobby Friendly staff Comfortable beds

Horrible experience this is far from a 4 star hotel bathroom was so small you could barely enter the tub the door wouldn't close and had no vent. Lightening wasn't any good either way over priced and only stayed there because of a wedding your better off staying at a comfort inn or best Western where you even get a continental breakfast

GREAT gym. There are mats for stretching / working out, kettle bells, dumbbells, tons of treadmill/ cardio machines, regular and cold towels (!), plus one of those machines that has a pull-up bar + an arm that allows a variety of weighted exercises - sorry, idk what it's called and I'm not going to look it up The rooms were average to slightly below average. AC was a little weird and outlets weren't in super convenient locations. They also charge you for the water bottles they leave on the room unless you're a Marriott member. Otherwise, it was fine. Soaps and etc were very much what you expect from a hotel, same with towels and bed. Lots of amenities were closed (the cafe and restaurant) but the gym was so good that I think it just made up for everything else for me. Gym or no, it's a perfectly reasonable option if you'll be in the area.

First impressions are "wow this is fancy" but that only lasts until you get into your room and realize you can hear everything outside and inside. I stayed here for a weekend and had no issues the first night except for getting Uber's to come and pick me up. For some reason, it's a black hole for Uber's on the weekend perhaps due to the traffic and amount of weddings and parties going on here that slow them down. The next morning, there was a DJ in a pickup truck that had speakers for the truck bed. He was screaming "hands up, hands up" and "let's go" through the speakers at 9am with a bunch of people dancing in the driveway of the hotel. My room was a conference suite that looked out onto the driveway so I heard noise all the time but this woke me up and I thought someone was in my room with me because it was so loud. The front desk dude doesn't know how to multitask as I waited for him to take my room number to buy a bottle of water. I drank the bottle before he even got to me and then he didn't apologize. The one person in front of me had 20 questions and he couldn't pause just to help someone else out with a 5 second interaction. The last morning I had a knock on the door at 930am and it was house cleaning and she asked when I was leaving. Last I checked, I could stay until the checkout time, but I told her that I wasn't to screw with her and then she went to the next room and started vacuuming. I swore the vacuum was going to come through the wall a few times as she plowed her way through the dated carpet banging into the wall. The breakfast is not a restaurant as I thought this place would have, but a small coffee shop that has cereal and bagels. Nothing warm or exciting. So, as a hotel I won't stay here again at $250/night but could see this as a good place for companies or events to be held.

Like other reviewers, I agree that not all Westins are created equally and this establishment was on the lower end of the brand scale. My family and I were here for my cousin's wedding nearby and this was where she'd blocked a group of rooms for guests. The exterior was cute with a classic New England feel and the lobby was spacious with high ceilings and plenty of seating. Front desk service was good and check in was easy. However, the rooms were not particularly impressive. The double queen room I shared was large enough, but the bathroom was quite small. Really didn't care for the sliding bathroom door, which was heavy and the track guide on the floor had completely come off and was loose on the carpet (with exposed nails). The A/C unit was also unimpressive. It would keep reverting back to a specific temperature, even though we would set it as soon as we'd entered the room. My parents fared worse... in the first room they had, the wheel on the bathroom door had completely come off, so maintenance had to come fix it. They switched rooms, only to find themselves in a smaller space. My mom was unhappy with that (and having to move the first time), so they opted to move again to a double queen. The front desk was nice enough and gave us a discount on the first night for the inconvenience. Again, the A/C unit was irritating, taking a full five minutes then kick in before it started adjusting the temperature. Overall, the facility was dated and could use with repairs and renovation. One of the elevators had a former security camera taped up (not pretty) and the wood paneling in the same elevator was chipped and nicked quite a bit. Aesthetically, it was closer to a three star establishment in many of the areas.

My brother and his fiancée got married here this past weekend and the venue was a dream. Not only was the lobby decked out in holiday cheer, everyone was super helpful, there was a coffee station, a bar, and tons of parking. Located also 5 minutes from the heart of downtown Morristown we were able to also kill time between the ceremony heading to a local restaurant/ bar/ starbucks 5 minutes via an uber. Take a look at some of these pics and marvel at how well this hotel decorates their interior. In addition, the 5 rooms we rented out throughout the few days were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. I will be looking into this venue come time for my own wedding! Love how conveniently located it is and how luxurious the feel is!

Nice place but a bit tired. In-room HVAC units not perfectly functional; windows are old and also not very functional. Rooms are painted what I'd call "Depressing Gray". Bathroom in my room was small but newly redone and quite nice. The pool which is outside, is nice. As this is a Westin/Marriott property, I really think it's not up to the standard one would expect from them and This place could use a lot of much needed TLC. Hallway carpets are dirty, dated and depressing. Although the lobby is nice the upper floors are gray, dark and depressing.

This is an older hotel which has been renovated and for the most part the public space is lovely. Now they need to work on improving structural deficiencies. If needing a luggage cart and staying on any floor other than the1st, it requires you push the cart up a ramp to the elevator. This is not an easy task, possibly because the ramp is carpeted and it would be easier to roll the cart on a hard surface, possibly because the luggage carts are old, heavier than they need to be and difficult to maneuver (an easy fix). Once at the elevator, it is difficult to maneuver the cart into the elevator because the elevator is very small (i.e., just barely deep enough for the length of the cart, able to hold 4 ppl in close proximity without a cart). The guest room was a good size. Not sure the guest rooms have been renovated, but the finishes in ours were not nearly as nice as those in the public areas. The HVAC was better than some hotels, and the beds were comfortable for guests who desire mattresses with good back support. The toilet was unusually low, not good for anyone with knee problems, and the wooden, sliding bathroom door was impossible to close fully. The best part of the hotel definitely was the restaurant, The Blue Morel. It has a peaceful decor of muted tones and a varied and appealing menu. All things considered, the Governor Morris was not a bad hotel, but for the room rates, even with a discount, the quality of this hotel should have checked more boxes.

We stayed at the Westin for the weekend for our friends' wedding and my birthday. It was a very lovely hotel. Unfortunately our room was ridiculously hot and we couldn't change the setting on the thermostat so we slept with the windows open. The bathroom was a bit small and the pocket door wouldn't stay shut so you had to hold it closed while using the toilet. The staff was very nice. I would go back again.

Hotel room was very small. Bathroom was even smaller. Entire room smelled musty. Mold spots on the bathroom ceiling above the shower. Elevators were broken and the waits were 10+ minutes. To top it all off there was water leaking out of the ceiling on the second floor in not one but two public locations. Hotel looked nice, but when you got into it, ended up far from it.

I was here for a wedding and there were 4 other weddings that same weekend. For the price and the appearance of the lobby, man, the rooms are 2-star quality and the bathrooms are 1-star. Here was my experience: Pros: -giant lobby, big space with plenty of smaller sitting areas for small groups to congregate -staff was generally nice if unhelpful Cons: -cramped bathroom with the toilet inches away from the shower and 1 inch away from the sink and toilet paper roll -wasted bathroom space of about 2 square feet where the toilet probably should have been but there was absolutely nothing. I moved the tiny table here to put my toiletries here -shower is from 1955 or something and hot water ran out both times I used it -in the age of COVID traveling, there was no housekeeping for the 2 nights and days we stayed but you would think that requests for an extra face towel and a box of tissues would have been met? NOPE. I called the front desk and had to go down in person being promised these things would be sent to my room. NEVER HAPPENED, liars. -no hooks on the walls for jackets, scarves, coats...just blank, bare walls -no microwave in room -thin walls to hear exactly what your neighbors are doing and saying -slowest elevators ever and there are only 3 in this giant hotel -terrible lighting in rooms -business center is a joke and cannot allow actual internet connection or even a browser. Can only print boarding passes -no free breakfast and no concierge lounge like what Marriotts have -super slow wifi On the 2nd night of my stay, the small mirror in the bathroom just felt like dropping out of the wall and shattering to a million bits without anyone messing with it. The crash was deafening and I was thankfully not in the bathroom when it happened. This was after midnight, by the way. I took a peek in there and saw that the metal handle bars came completely out of the wall--like WHAT? This mirror was situated right above the toilet so now anyone's tootsies are in danger of stepping into all the glass pieces on the ground. I used the in room phone to call the Concierge and the Express Service line. I tried each of the lines twice and no one picked up. Had to physically have my hubby to go the front desk and explain the situation to get someone to sweep up the glass! About 12 min later, a janitor arrived to sweep up the larger pieces away. He explained that housekeeping would have to vacuum the rest away but they're obviously not available so in the meantime, here are towels to step on so you don't cut your feet...wow. I used flip flops that night just in case. Upon checking out, I explained the mirror incident to a front desk lady and while she was shocked and sympathetic, she only offered me some points on a future stay. I explained how it was a health and safety issue and that we should at least have one of our nights comped to which she eventually acquiesced. So yeah, going to avoid Westins in the future and definitely not recommend this place. Can't believe how terrible the bathrooms and lack of service are here! For the price tag, I felt this was a 2-star hotel.

Nice staff, random foxes roam the parking lot at all times of the day. Restaurant is closed randomly, so don't expect to grab lunch on a Sunday at the hotel like I tried to do. Drinks are also really expensive. Glad I got a chance to stay here as I've always wanted to since it's in a historic building. OK location to downtown Morristown but you'll need to Uber to bars as it's not dab smack in the center of the city.

The employees were super friendly but that's about all it has going for it. Automatic door was broken so it was really difficult to get in and out with our carts. Not even close to Westin Hotel standard. Gross, moldy bathroom, hairs hanging off the spare blanket in the closet, paint chipping, wood along door's chipped and/or cracked. So bad. I wish we just kept driving. Unless they redo the hotel, skip it.

This is a nice hotel. The wine bar and restaurant downstairs are really a nice touch. There is a pool and spa and the rooms are accommodating. My only comments would be that the room we had was dark, the lighting just wasn't ample enough, even in the bathroom. There is no lock on the bathroom door either. It wasn't a problem for us, but it could be for some people. The other was just personal preference of liking a larger bed, king versus what I think was a full. It was, however, very comfortable. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.

the "blue morel" restaurant is decent. staff is nice and generally thoughtful and that bumps this hotel to 2 stars. the hotel is very outdated. from the rooms to the gym to the elevators it feels like you're transported back to the early 2000s, maybe even the 90s. i am not recommending, unless it's convenient to stay there.

Serena helped us check in at the front desk last Friday, 9/1/2023. She was awesome. Very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She was calm and friendly. I wish she checked me into every hotel.

A pleasant experience doing a company holiday party here. Large, large parking lot, well-able to accommodate the ~400 people (approx.) that we had, which was a nice change of pace. Inside, plenty of space on the second floor conference room, though not nearly enough seating set up for dinner. Four wet bars set up to quench the holiday thirst, though. Bathroom is offset from the main area, but clean. Wooden floor in the center if you want a dance/presentation area. Well set-up with Christmas and holiday lighting. The food was so-so... appetizers floating around included pigs in a blanket (okay), crab cake minis (eh), and some kind of quesadilla (eh). Avoid the stir-fry that they attempt. It's a valiant effort. Cranberry with turkey was good, the salad normal, the pastas were decent (chefs working the grill right there). Beef roast was okay, albeit a bit dry. The cannolis were soft.. not sure how that happened. Chocolate cake apparently was good, but that was voraciously devoured by people before I arrived. The cream puffs weren't bad. Coffee, tea, liquor, all standard. Big jelly-filled cakes that were okay, but I can't really blame the hotel, they were probably ordered by the company. The other reviewers recommend the burger, we'll have to try it next time. Small bar in the lobby area, too, for guests and others to wander towards. When they have close time, though, it is close time. They don't shuttle guests out, but they start cleaning it up, and it is gone by the time ten minutes pass.

This hotel has simply seen better days. It is one of the pricier hotels in town yet the room I was provided had mold on the ceiling and the doorway to the small bathroom was extremely worn. As a Gold Member with Marriott I complained that for $300/night I would expect more. The manager offered additional points to try and offset the conditions but then never even added the points. When I advised Marriott of the issue they responded that the hotel location would contact me, which again they did not. For the money and location I would suggest staying away from here and use the Archer Hotel. Not only a nicer property but also run by better management.

Although the entrance and lobby area looked promising, the rooms fell short of my expectations. My room was very dark despite having turned on all the lights. Also, the water pressure of the toilet flush was very low. One thing I did like about the hotel was the fitness room. They had cold wet towels available and they had a good assortment of equipment. They had earphones too if you needed for the treadmills. Although slightly overpriced, the food was solid. I ordered room service for breakfast including the ham and eggs and the american with a side of bacon. The side of bacon is like a good 20 pieces, which is a crazy amount. The ham and eggs come with 3 eggs and either ham, sausage or bacon. The american comes with the same with one juice and a coffee or tea. You also get toast on the side. Overall, very underwhelming stay at Westin

My company recently hosted a sales conference which required me to stay 3 nights. I have mixed feelings about my experience since different aspects of my stay weren't consistent. The Room: 2 -Staying at the Westin I expected a higher quality experience that SPG hotels usually offer -My room was a bit small, dated, worn and could have been cleaner -The bottom of the doors were all chipped, wall paper had stains and dust on the molding -The bed and pillows were very comfortable and had quality you would expect -The toilet bowl kept running which was loud, annoying and woke up me several times. The toilet didn't just run when you flushed it, it ran when other rooms flushed as well. It would take about 15minutes to stop running and then ahhhh silence... nope... neighboring room flushes and here we go again... 15 minutes of running... silence... and the pattern continued! The Food: 4 -The food was absolutely delicious, esp for a conference of 250 people. -All of the food was organic farm to table and you can tell the quality was high -We all had the Filet for an awards dinner and it was the first time ever I had a steak that was cooked perfectly, served hot, and had flavor. Usually at conferences you get well done beef that tastes like leather. I was impressed they were able to serve over 200 guests at the same time and maintain quality -All of the snacks served were fresh, healthy and plentiful - they did not run out leaving the stragglers empty handed. Good job here! Conference Room: 3 -Nothing really good or bad to say. The seats were comfortable, the lighting and production all worked and the space was clean and conveniently located near other conf rooms and lunch space -Knowing my company was charged a hefty penny to have the conference at this location I am undecided if it was worth money -the staff that ran the meeting were Union led and charged for everything! Despite the price tag the service was great and they were attentive so that's good. Overall, I wouldn't chose this location if I had to stay on my own since the rooms were disappointing. I would come back and eat at the restaurant, Blue Morel, which was updated and had an inviting atmosphere. If the conference food was really good the restaurant food has to be even better!

I'm surprised at the low reviews here, as I thought it was a nice hotel. I've stayed here twice for work. The first visit, I had a very nice room. This time, it seemed a little smaller, but I was only there for a night, so it didn't make much difference. The room came with a king size bed, full of plump pillows, TV, dresser and desk. The standard tea/coffee maker is set up in the room. There is a floor with business meeting rooms that we utilized for one visit. There's also a gym onsite, a "store" that sells some amenities that you can pay for or have added to the room tab. The Starbucks has a pretty light breakfast menu. The attached restaurant has breakfast for $23, so I opted out of that. But The Morel restaurant is excellent. On my first visit, we ate at the restaurant downstairs and restaurant is fantastic. Great wine selection and food.

I recently stayed at the Westin Governor Morris (where I frequently stay for business) and was fairly disgusted at the state of my duvet cover. As I was getting ready to check out, I pulled back the duvet (which was previously covered by a sheet) to find it was covered in dirt and stains. I'm not sure why you'd bother renovating a hotel and leaving behind old, filthy bedding. What bothers me even more is the complete lack of concern over it. I took a photo and showed the front desk when I checked out -- her response -- "oh, that's gross." That's it. I then tried emailing Marriott with a copy of the photo I took and got a very canned response saying that they had forwarded on to the Westin Governor Morris and they would follow up. I'm still waiting for a response of any kind. As a Gold Starwood member, I guess I'd hope for slightly better service.

Stayed at this hotel after attending a wedding. I enjoyed my stay here. Staff was friendly, great attitude and helpful. My room was clean and beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Westin Hotel this past Sunday. This review is for the New Year's Eve gala that was hosted by the Westin in Morristown. My entire family and I I attended the New Year's Eve gala at the Westin on dec 31, 2023. My family and I were disappointed with the night especially for the price we paid. I will start off with the cocktail hour, the food choice was limited and the quality of the food was just ok. The main ball room didn't open until 9 o'clock and so you were cramped in a small area with about 400 people at the cocktail hour. The cocktail hour was pretty much in the lobby of the second floor. The first course was a salad that was horrible and had no dressing on it. . I will say the filet mignon and shrimp were small but excellent, however, the dessert that followed was terrible. The dessert was supposed to be cheesecake and it was apples that were bArely cooked. Our hotel room was clean and the Westin bed is very comfortable. I ordered room service and the food was really good, however , I would not do the New Years Eve package again because this was hosted by a third party that went cheap on the cocktail hour and dessert. The third party also advertised that the crowd was 30 to 55 and that was not the case.

Why is this the WORST Westin I have ever stayed at? I found an opened condom in my "clean" room. When I went to ask for a different room they were not the most friendliest from deck. The new room I got wasn't that much better. Do these people clean the rooms? The toilet in my new room had bunch of shit under the toilet seat!! The WORST!!!!

Not what I expected from a Westin Hotel. First of all, after being told the $100 pet fee was refundable as long as the pet didn't damage the room, upon checking in with my dog, I was told the $100 pet fee was non refundable. Not only that, I was told I "should have read the website more carefully." No apology, no upgrade for the inconvenience. Next, when I left at 10:00 a.m., I asked the front desk to be sure the room was cleaned by 1:00 when I returned. Upon returning at 3:30 the room was a mess and had not been cleaned. Not at all up to Westin standards. I travel frequently domestically and internationally and don't plan to return. A shame, as a year ago this was a great hotel with exceptional customer service. New management perhaps?

Old hotel that seems like my grandparents had the furniture first. Even better, they don't have a functioning air conditioning system. So if you can sleep in 72 degrees, this is your place. Their answer is, open the windows, but even the maintenance guy can't open the windows. Apparently, historic means "not modern". Come on Westin, even the Elements and the Fairfield's have the ability to temperature control each room separately.

We chose The Westin for our wedding because of the convenience of the hotel and bar being onsite as well as the beautiful Christmas decor. The venue had everything we could have dreamed. A huge Christmas tree, garland hanging from the balcony, and even a sled with moving reindeer! All the decor matched the winter blue silvers and whites theme we had in mind. David was very responsive and made sure to make it all happen. They accommodated special food requests of baby lamb chop appetizers, added Jameson and Ginger ale to the bar (the bride's favorite drink), and had our favorite holiday food - maple glazed ham! We had a seafood bar the guests loved and a Mac and Cheese bar with toppings that were served in martini glasses to make it easy to eat while socializing! The ballroom had Christmas trees, hot cocoa and cigar favors on the tables with greenery and candles, silver chivari chairs with all white table cloths/napkins that kept the room feeling light, romantic, and magical. David was communicative and extremely easy to work with. He took our vision and made it happen along with adding in details I never even thought of like a gingerbread house with our names on it! Christina with the hotel made sure our room block never ran low and answered all the questions we had on our reservations and how the day would go! I would recommend working with the Westin Governor Morris a thousand times over!

Dark, dark room. The size of the room was adequate, but the use of space was inefficient. Our full bed was pushed up against the wall, and I had to crawl out backwards during the night to access the bathroom The beds were uncomfortable, the couch rock hard, the desk chair, rickety. As for amenities, we had a safe, but it didn't work. We had a tissue holder, but no tissues. We asked the maid, who didn't have any, either. She said we should call the front desk, We did, several times, but no answer. Worst of all, although there were 3 mirrors, none of them had enough light by them to put on makeup. Even with every single light on, the room was very dim. Very disappointed.

What a beautiful hotel... I honestly felt like I was staying in a castle. I recently stayed at this location for a friends wedding. I shared the room with 3 college room, and for 4 girls getting ready together in a hotel room there was the perfect amount of space for us all to do our thang without being in eachothers way. Sometimes hotel rooms are just too darn small. But this place had it going on! I LOVE Westin's, there is just something about them that they do right, especially their shower heads, where can I buy one of those?

I cannot believe I never reviewed this place. This was the location for our wedding stay over for guests. We could not have been happier. Our point of contact was awesome! And if you book enough people they will give the bride/groom a free suite. I am a schmoozer and was able to talk them into hooking us up with the presidential suite. Yeah baby! All the guests were so happy with the quality of rooms. Zero complaints. They also have a bar/restaurant in the hotel for some late night snacks/booze. The next day breakfast was good but pricey since we paid for everyone. I.e about 50 people. Otherwise the rooms are spacious, clean and organized. The staff is great. The prices are really good especially in bulk. The only issue we had was the car service located in the hotel. They made good on their errors after wards and is not fault of the hotel. Enjoy!

Stayed here this weekend over Christmas while visiting my bf's family who live in Morristown. There were several options for hotels when I initially looked online, but I picked this property since it was a Westin/Starwood hotel & they had a choice of several different room types all at reasonable rates. I chose a Deluxe King which was a large room with a King bed, newly renovated bathroom, large closet, & a separate work/desk area as well as a sofa/sitting area. It was very large for a standard hotel room. Parking was plentiful, they had a free shuttle starting at 7:30am-10pm that will take you ANYWHERE within 5 miles, which we used to go to Walgreens & then to get to my bf's family's house so we didn't have to drive. VERY CONVENIENT & the driver was very friendly & accomodating. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel for both dinner & again the next morning for breakfast. Service was very good for dinner, not as attentive for breakfast, but the food both times was very good. The best part, in my opinion, was the staff who were all very friendly, welcoming & clearly were there to accomodate any requests. We even received a call a couple of days after our stay asking if everything went okay & if we were happy with our stay. I travel continually & have NEVER received a personal phone call following up on a stay - they truly are upping the customer service level for this property. Overall, definitely a nice property at a good price, and great service from start to finish. I highly recommend this place if you need a hotel in Morristown!

Very disappointing from a service perspective and below Marriott standards in general. First, I was guaranteed a Suite upgrade (one of my perks for being Platinum (a certain number per year). Despite receiving an email confirmation, the hotel manager disputed the wording so they would not honor. Second, they claimed they gave me a room with a pullout which they did not so we had to switch rooms w no help from staff. Finally, it was obvious the first room had not been cleaned thoroughly because I found various things on the floor like a stress ball shaped like a football, misc. wrappers, etc. Clearly not up to Westin or Marriott standards. A stay here is a one and done for my family. We visit the area often for visiting our college daughter but will find a hotel w better customer service and cleaning standards especially given Covid.

This is really close to a 1 star review... but those are for a certain special kinda epic and memorable failure and much like everything else they do/have here - their failure is mediocre and tepid. 1 star for the beds and 1 star for the semi passable service and cleanliness together because neither was really worthy of the Westin name. I would plead with you not to order food as the folly of such an endeavor will be quickly realized when you get that 40 dollar rubbery flavorless tuna on a thick piece of white toast they dare to call focaccia. 9 dollars gets you 8 sticks of poorly cooked asparagus on the side with a lump of salt in the middle. The Internet here is simply atrocious. Netflix is a lost cause. YouTube? Not happening. Loading an image from a Google search? 50/50 it disconnects before that interlaced pong file gets 10% done. Maybe text based email.... And even then it's a snowballs chance in the Devils pants while he takes a salty dip in the lake of fire. Honestly - and please don't be offended - I kinda expected hotels in Jersey to suck. I just wasn't prepared for this. I'm going to suck it up and do the 70 min commute to a hotel in NYC. At least then I can do something in the evening. Pretty lobby, good restaurant, good service. The rooms are dated and need some rehab. The shower handle was literally coming off the bathroom tile and this was after we were upgraded to a suite. The rooms are clean however and the bed is the standard very comfortable Westin heavenly bed.

Second time staying here. To be honest we really like it. The rooms we had last year and this year were both updated and very spacious. The staff are all very kind and there is always someone friendly at the front desk. Our rooms both time overlooked the pool area and had really good pull down screens on the windows (a daytime and nighttime option!). The nightstands have been updated to include easy turn on/off lamps and two outlets and two usb outlets in each so it's easy to plug in any necessary phones, watches etc. while sleeping. There is a great little cafe downstairs that serves Starbucks brewed, specialty and even pressed juices (two flavors) that is also a nice perk in the morning. A little pricey, but convenience is everything. My boyfriend and I both really like to walk and love that it's just a mile to walk into the really cute downtown square area. It's historic with absolutely beautiful greenery and plenty of shops and restaurants to pop into. The only downfall of this hotel is the parking. It's a huge parking lot, fairly steep, awkward to pull into and despite the mass amount of spots they charge $15 for parking. Why?! It's not even convenient parking! If there was a 4.5 star option I would have picked it. Still the same wonderful Westin smell when you walk in and a really nicely decorated entranceway with huge sparkling chandeliers. We will continue to stay here and hope they start waiving the parking for those staying. Especially at a high Bonvoy member level.

We had the most perfect wedding here last week. Our wedding coordinator, Joyce, and her team did an impeccable job making sure our wedding day was amazing. The bridal suite was awesome. The outdoor ceremony couldn't have been more beautiful ( and the rain held out!) our cocktail hour was fun and satisfying, and the reception was enchanting! We had more than enough space to party! The room looked gorgeous! All of our props and details were meticulously placed. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better day. We are so happy we chose the Westin Governor Morris for our wedding!

I stayed at this hotel for one night during a wedding weekend. The accommodations were good and the list price was fair. *However*, they charged a $15.00 fee to park my car in their outdoor, unattended lot that had (approximately) 300 spots. This surcharge was a sad example of raising their actual room rate without listing it in the base price. C'mon, man.... Also, the hotel bar was open after the wedding reception, so 20 - 30 people from the wedding met there for drinks. There were two bartenders on duty. The woman who served my group was disinterested at best, rude at worst. Although it did not detract from the great night we had at the wedding reception, it was a disappointing way to end the evening. She desperately needs re-training.

For our 1-night stay, The Westin was a perfectly average stay. The space is fairly large, offering an in-house restaurant/bar as well as several venue spaces.The front desk was helpful and we were very pleased with our accommodation. I appreciated the charm and character The Westin provided over say, a typical chain hotel. I would certainly stay here again

Description of this hotel is not accurate. No free breakfast, no free WiFi, spa is closed, restaurant is expensive and only partially open. No microwaves in room, bathrooms are a little dated and cosmetically worn and need a freshening up. Most hotel rooms would have some type of guide explaining the area and details about the hotel and its amenities, there are none of these in the room. Morristown has so much to offer historically. Our 3 day stay here cost over $600. Would have been a bargain if the Westin Governor Morris lived up to the expectation that Its description portrayed.
