The Best Food on New Orleans’s Canal Street | Eater New Orleans

"Recently treated to a $30 million renovation, the sparkling redone Westin dishes two show-stopping venues, Observatory Eleven, a craft cocktail bar and restaurant with sweeping river views and Bistro on the Bend, a breakfast lunch and dinner spot, also on the 11th floor. Both are wows, with diners treated to floor-to ceiling vistas and a menu of Creole and Cajun-inspired dishes." - Beth D’Addono

The Baseline: For a hotel the rooms must be clean/comfortable, the amenities on the property must be usable/convenient, and the service on property must meet the needs for a comfortable stay. Room: We had a very comfortable and relatively clean room when we had our stay here in April 2025. We had issues with the television which the hotel staff was quick to fix. Our view allowed us to see the Mississippi River and the New Orleans skyline. The beds were comfortable and clean. The toilet had a good water pressure flush. The shower/bath had good water pressure though the shower curtain leaked out more water than preferred (order more bath mats when staying here). Amenities: There was a great and I mean great bar with an awesome view of the French Quarter (nice to see it and not be in it at times) and the Mighty Mississippi. There was a roof pool and exercise facilities. The elevators take you to parking or the very nice mall at the bottom of the structure. The hotel also collaborates with tour groups that can give a sizable discount for things like bayou tours, ghost tours, etc. Service: Staff were great when we stayed and kept our room clean and fixed our television issue. Very happy with the hard working staff.

I’ve always loved this hotel and its location—or at least, I used to. I find Westin beds very comfortable, and the rooms at this property are excellent. I used to stay there during business trips a few years ago and had good memories. But on my last visit, from June 5th to June 9th, I quickly realized something had changed. I remembered being woken up by a train horn the last time I stayed and brushing it off as bad luck. This time, though, it was clear: the train goes by every single night—and it’s loud. To keep track, I started taking screenshots on my phone every time I was woken up. • June 6–7: 12:58 AM, 4:53 AM, 5:40 AM (another at 5:46 AM, possibly the same train) • June 7–8: 12:52 AM and 5:30 AM — a “quiet” night by comparison • June 8–9: 10:59 PM (just after I fell asleep), 3:22 AM, 6:07 AM, 6:16 AM To be clear, this isn’t a Marriott-specific issue. Any hotel near the river—ONE11, Caesar’s, Four Seasons, DoubleTree, Méridien—is going to deal with the same rail noise. Frankly, the city needs to invest in railway crossing gates or noise reduction measures. Otherwise, I don’t see how these hotels can expect repeat business. If I have to stay in New Orleans again, I’ll choose a location away from the river, probably closer to Claiborne Avenue.

This hotel gave me the impression I was important for their business from booking to check out. It is perfect for shopping in the basement, and for food and perfectly positioned on the banks of the Mississippi for the French Quarter.|The room was spacious and very clean and staff about as helpful as it gets. The view from the 24th floor was the best I have ever had.|The only drawback is no pool, sometimes with the weather an outside pool is a plus.|This was a very good experience and I would recommend the hotel and will stay there longer on my next visit to NOLA.

Stayed to attend a family wedding in the area. The location was great. Very helpful staff at the front desk and dining room. We booked one of the Bienville Suites which was large with a great view of the river. Cocktails in the bar topped it off. The buffet breakfast (included with our room reservation) was very good. Got a chance to see the Presidential Suite. Wow! it was awesome. Would definitely stay there again.

Google
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in the French Quarter. The location is spectacular! Not only is it connected to the upscale mall, but it is also walking distance from Bourbon Street and the outlet mall. We had a nice view of the river. Perfect location. It’s about a mile to the Superdome. The rooms were well appointed, spacious and beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the towels were of great quality. What made the visit special was the service! They had parties in the elevator with music and complimentary drinks. That was an amazing and fun surprise. They also had free happy hours each day with awesome music. The vibes were too fun! The bar area was hopping every day. The breakfast buffet was delicious. I especially loved the custom omelette station. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

I checked into Room 2117 on Monday. It was very odd: when I walked into the room, the sink faucet was running, so I turned it off. The plumbing in the room was messed up, in that turning either the hot or the cold handle dispensed very hot water. Likewise, the faucet in the bathtub only dispensed hot water. I've stayed in a number of hotels in my life where there was no hot water, but I've never before stayed in one where there was only hot water. Particularly in the morning, there was a nasty whining noise coming from the pipes in the bathtub.||So, yesterday morning, I reported these issues to the young man at the front desk, who said that he would have them looked at. When I got back to the room in the evening, I noticed that the whine was gone, but there was still only hot water. Oh well.||But when I went to take a shower this morning, I realized that hotel maintenance had "fixed" my whining pipe in the bathtub by disabling the shower valve. I had to take a bath instead of a shower this morning, because maintenance had decided to "fix" the problem with the room by removing my ability to take a shower. Actually, I should say that I had to fill the tub and then wait 10 minutes for the super-hot water to cool down enough to take a bath.||Was anything about my complaint communicated to me in any way? No. They didn't text me, or leave a note, or anything. I didn't get an apology, or even an offer to switch rooms.||I'd advise people not to stay at this hotel -- you'll get better service at a Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn.

Some reviewers have criticized the 111th floor lobby but that is only part of the story. Arriving in the rain, cars were stacked down the block so valet much less curbside check-in was out of the question. Another trip around the block and we see a sign ‘Hotel check-in.’ Across the street in the rain with our luggage, up to the 11th floor and the desk lady says, “don’t park there. That’s not us. They will tow your car!” We drop everything, run for car in the rain and get there just in time. Parked, we now learn it is $40 a day to park. Then the fun starts. The elevators say 11th floor but refuse to go there. Finally we go to the first floor mall and find an elevator that works.||Checking in, they screwed up our reservation but the nice lady said she fixed it. We learned later either she lied or was incompetent. Our room was very nice with a great view; bed comfy except the pillows were made from recycled telephone poles. We opted to wrap some of our clothes in towels to use as pillows.||The location was great but we spent the rest of our trip playing elevator roulette; first from the lobby to 11, then a different elevator to our room. Bonus was the $30/day resort fee and the $40 breakfast buffet. We won’t be back.

Wonderful experience at the Westin New Orleans hotel. From the moment we arrived, until we checked out, the experience was great. Checkin went quickly and had great customer service. The hotel lobby is beautiful, smelled divine and had stunning views. Arriving to the room was pleasant as it was cool, spacious and clean. The bedding had quality linens and so comfortable. We did order room service and that was good as well, food was hot and fresh and came relatively quick. Having access to close shopping, coffee shops, and canal street was also a plus. I really enjoyed this hotel; the location and the overall experience. I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay again. Thanks for a great experience Westin.

Yelp
Outstanding stay at the Westin. The room rate was very fair. The property was immaculate and location is wonderful to walk into the French Quarter. The trolly stops right out front to navigate the city. Our room 26th floor was well kept and clean with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River. The staff was very polite and attentive. The 11th floor coffee and bar area is beautiful. We also liked the layout that you had to enter the bottom floor and transition to room elevators on the 11th floor. We will be staying here again. Highly recommend.

Yelp
They do not give you full information at check in. I was told there was a $30 credit each day. We stayed two full days and only got one credit of $30 I was told it could be applied to my room bill and when I checked out, thus was not applied. There are a lot of stipulations with staying here. The valet is $58 per day and the parking lot across the street is $45 The valet parks your car across the street anyways!! So save yourself some money and self park... it's not like the valet parks it somewhere safer. There is no help with bell and luggage.. you have to go search for the cart yourself and push the luggage to your own room It's totally frustrating to stay here.

Yelp
I was visiting NOLA for some relaxing time with my daughter. She had made plans to enhance my experience. The hotel is rather grand and high end. Beautiful decor! Okay, when you walk into the lobby entrance when coming off the elevator, the wonderful scent greeted you. It's a specialty fragrance of the hotel. You know I'll be ordering some from their online store! The room is luxurious and spacious!! It gives a distinct vibe of having 'arrived'! Room service is great and timely. It turned out that the French Quarter Festival was happening as well. It was huge and spectacular. Great food, activities, and music! Added treats for my visit. The staff is courteous, helpful, and polite. Awesome service!! Wonderful time and experiences to last quite a while. I would love to visit again, particularly for the festival!

Yelp
What happened to Westin!? I once use to stay at Westins for two reasons: awesome bed and even better breakfast. They once had pecan pancakes that put permanent growth to my belt size. But this Westin is little better than a Marriott Courtyard. I spent precious time last night looking for outlets to charge devices. In the end I was forced to move furniture then unplug lamps and high jack the outlet for myself. Some of those didn't work either. The room had no do not disturb sign so I was force do go back down to the lobby to insure no one entered while I was gone and they short sheeted the bed so the covers fell off me shortly after going to bed. The breakfast, as I said once a mai. Reason for staying at a Westin was boring, and slow. I sat unnoticed for 30 minutes. They did make a nice cappuccino tho. Maybe it's the wear and tear of NOLA? I think I will stick with the Sonesta

Yelp
Great service great rooms. I like the layout and separation from the street. Superb location, we have had rooms with views over the MS river every time. Room service food of blackened chicken paste was superb and tasted great the hanger steak and frites was great tasting all served fresh and hot. Beer was ice cold. The bistro for beverages and "hors d'oeuvres" were priced good and were excellent. The bands provided were perfect

Yelp
This is a sub-standard Westin. Rooms are dirty, and the customer service is atrocious in every single respect (housekeeping, front desk, bar, room service) BUT it is very convenient and walkable to the French Quarter touristy spots (Bourbon Street, Cafe Du Monde, Carousel Bar, Natchez Steamboat, mall, convention center, Harrah's, House of Blues). If you're brand-name bargain hunting, then stop reading this and just book the hotel. Hell, at least you'll get the points for staying there.

Yelp
Spent the night before the Sugar Bowl. Very competent and accommodating staff. Nice lobby bar. Great view of the river from the lobby and river view facing rooms. Comfortable bed. Fast elevators. Great location near the waterfront and walking distance to French Quarter and lots of other places, including Canal Street. Fantastic breakfast buffet which is a free perk for titanium and platinum members. Nicely done!

Yelp
Stayed here for a friends' and couples' trip, first time in New Orleans, and this was a great choice! Perfect location. You're close enough to walk to the French Quarter, but far enough away that you can sleep. It also had an amazing view of the river, and a 'wow factor' bar. Hotel smells amazing and they keep it clean. Rooms are clean and upscale. Bathrooms are well lit and have enough space. Showers have shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel bottles with pumps. Area for improvement is putting the toilet in its own room with a door, so that one person can keep getting ready. Coffee is a standard machine, nothing special but better than no coffee! Staff members are super helpful. It's the south, so you'll get what you need and more. They even hold the elevators for you, even if you're farther away!

Yelp
We stopped by the Westin after watching the Kentucky Derby at Caesars. We stumbled upon their stunning view of the Mississippi River. Bonita was serving us at the bar and was just wonderful. A great bartender with the patience of a saint, her name fits her well. Would most definitely recommend this bar.

Yelp
DELICIOUS... must have especially if staying at the Westin!!! The bagel with the lox was delicious and super fresh. My bestie has the avocado toast. Champagne was a must!

Yelp
Westin Hotels are a hallmark of quality around the country. My friend and I planned to visit NOLA and when announced that he made a reservation at this hotel I was excited. I immediately started reading reviews, but as we know sometimes they can be at both extremes of the scale. When we arrived late on the night we checked in, we were greeted by the front door attendant. I wouldn't call him a valet because all parking is self-parking. My friend went up to the 11th floor (main lobby and check-in) and I waited downstairs. We contemplated parking across the street in a surface lot ($45 per day), as opposed to the hotel which was $35 per day. The front door person went to get us a luggage cart which we loaded up together. I then struggled to get through the door (he didn't help with that) and I navigated up to the lobby level. My friend went off to park the car and I pushed the luggage up to the room. We travelled up to the 22nd floor and made our way to our room (2216). The room was a standard double room with closet, desk, chair/ottoman and two queen beds. We had a view of the Mississippi and its winding path leading toward the Gulf. We could see Jackson Square in the distance and passers-by along the riverfront. The bathroom was a little small but clean and would work for a couple nights. There was even a convenient shelf next to the door where I staged my items, out of the way of my friend. We ended up going out after checking in and we had to interact with the clerk at the front desk. Admittedly, it was after midnight at the point and the person can't be blamed for not being the most chipper because it was super late. I assume he would have been a bit more engaged had it been a bit earlier. I visited the gym twice on this trip - it is located a few floors above the lobby level and it offered a partial view of the Mississippi. There were some issues with some of the equipment (connecting to Bluetooth and the TV channels was a challenge) but it will offer you a good workout in a pinch. Though it is never like your home gym, I was able to get a good pump. When we left to get food, we came back to the hotel and we noticed that the elevator call button light was burned out. We waited a while and the elevator finally arrived. The housekeeper knocked on the door our first morning, offering more towels. We were on the way out and I asked her for towels and to tidy the room, also. She agreed, but when we arrived back at the hotel later, not only were there no towels but the room hadn't been touched at all. A quick call to the front desk remedied the towel situation. This hotel has the same vibe as a Vegas hotel - glitzy and shiny at first glance. Upon closer inspection, things are not quite as shiny and are in need of a bit of attention to several finer details. Those things should be corrected, based on a thorough review by a maintenance team. Glows: Stylish lobby, accessible room service fees for small bites, great proximity to Bourbon (walkable) Grows: Horn noises from the river traffic, thinnish walls which make arguments and slamming doors readily apparent, outrageous mini-store prices ($5 for small bag of chips, $10 Fiji water bottle), elevator issues (card reader, banging noises and doors cycling open and closed repeatedly), housekeeping follow-through

Yelp
The best part of this hotel was the bed. It was probably one of the top 3 most comfy beds I slept in. I have platinum status so I picked the free breakfasts vouchers. They offered an amazing selection of food choices at the breakfast buffet. They also had an omelette station and pancakes. Everything was so good! The cons- the refrigerator didn't get real cold at all. Actually the one in my room wasn't even plugged in and working so I had to call for maintenance man to fix it. Also the room didn't have enough electrical plug outlets. All at random places that didn't make sense.

Yelp
I came with some friends for Mardi Gras weekend and I was pleased with the stay. The hotel location was central and close to the French Quarter and the parades. The room was large enough for our party of 4 and clean. We had a beautiful view of the river. The customer service was excellent and you almost couldn't tell that it was busy with Mardi Gras. My only complaint is that they mixed up rooms and someone was accidentally told that our room was theirs but, fortunately we were able to straighten everything out with the customer service team.

Yelp
Super nice it's connected to a small mall alot of stuff is mostly walking distance and walking distance to another mall and convention center. Only downfall is they dont have a pool at least i didnt see one and no microwaves in room but a refrigerator. I will definitely be staying again it was very convenient for us when we went to Essence festival.

Yelp
This was the worst hotel I've ever had to stay in. Upon arriving, we were told we did not have a room, even though we had a confirmation number. We were eventually given a room, went to the room, and it was already occupied. We returned to the lobby and were given a different room. We went out to dinner, came back and the key cards did not access our room any longer. Night #2, We scanned the QR code on the desk to order room service, after placing the order the app said POS error please call the front desk. We called the room service number on the button of the phone. A guy answered asked what we wanted and when I said we were ordering room service he transferred me TO THE FRONT DESK who said flippantly "you cant order here, let me transfer you" room service then did not answer. I called back and they hung up on me (4 times). I called the concierge who said I should just come down to the bar and order then carry it back to my room. In the room: The sheets were dirty. The bedspread was stained. The towels were dirty. Avoid this hotel if at all possible. This is a horrible place to stay and the staff is incredibly unhelpful.

Yelp
Stayed here for a night at the end of our trip. Very nice hotel. Beautiful observation deck. Great location and customer service. Blocks away from Bourbon and depending on your room, you might have a view of the Mississippi River. Spacious rooms and clean bathrooms and towels. Hotel parking as well as parking across the street, both for a fee. The only negative is the wifi. We were barely able to connect which was a bit frustrating considering how much we paid for the hotel, but overall a really good stay.

Yelp
Here for a few days for a conference. I had 2 queen bedroom. Large, spacious. Mainly clean :) There was no microwave, but the mini fridge needed to be clean - especially the door. Thankfully I had lysol and clorox wipes to clean things. There was a $6 bottle of spring water. DISGUSTINGGG because when I picked it up, I thought it looked like it might've been opened but then I was thinking - why would a bottle be open. Turns out, that since it's $6 the previous person probably opened it - refilled it with water so they weren't charged. So if I die --- thats probably why Room service can be requested. My shower water turned cold on the 2nd day, but then heated up the next time when needed. Hotel is on the 11th floor. So you had to take 2 elevators (to get up to the hotel and then up to your room). Elevators at times, took some time. There is a bar on the 11th floor. Breakfast is served in the morning, $27 buffet. Quite a variety of food to choose from, you could even get a box to go. Tables are all set with glasses and servers to help you. Hotel is attached to the Canal Place high end mall and a 5 minute walk to a trolley, riverwalk, the fillmore and other hotels, cigar bars and any everything - including the French Quarter You can control your own heat/air, hotel overlooks the city - beauitful sights. About a 15 min walk to Bourbon street Conference rooms were clean, spacious, equipped with water/drinks/snacks an food as ordered by Conference creators. 4 stars for elevators, unclean fridge, tv channels at times kept blitzing and there weren't many to choose from, opened water bottle that the housekeeper didn't notice to switch out and cold shower.

Yelp
We stay at this hotel often and have never been disappointed. The level of service that the staff provides is great and they have been very accommodating with my late check out requests. The observatory bar in the lobby is PHENOMENAL. The drinks are strong, and the presentation is very well done. It's such a great atmosphere when there is live entertainment. There are also great views of the city to enjoy from the lobby as well!

Yelp
Lol really sums up this trip. First of all the check in guy messed up our reservation, downgraded us, and changed it from points to a cash stay. Then he charged us for two parking spaces instead of one. So that was awesome. Then when we checked out(and found out that the extra large charge on the credit card was for two parking spaces) the lady tried to charge us again. Jeez how many times can you charge one vehicle? Points because the breakfast people were incredible. Jinky was with us our entire stay and oh my gosh that lady was incredible. I'll miss her. Honestly I wouldn't have given so many stars had she and the rest of the breakfast crew not been so great.

Yelp
Stay for the shops at Canal Place. Many other luxury stores nearby within walking distance too, but Saks, Tiffany's, Michael Kors and more are conveniently located on the ground floor of The Westin New Orleans. I also suspect any popularity is due to brand and proximity to The French Quarter. Besides that, some things are left to be desired. Of that the main concern is safety. Bourbon Street is a hot mess so you'll witness it each time you leave and return to the hotel. During one of our returns as we pulled up in our Uber, we heard muffled glass breaking: it was a car window being broken into in a public parking lot across the street from the valet/hotel entrance. One of us called the police thinking it was the citizenly thing to do -haha, joke's on us, the authorities couldn't care less. Likewise valet attendants were hardly shocked, saying that it happens all the time. Alrighty then.

Yelp
Upon arriving after such a long flight, I hopped into shower and tub was clogged pretty quickly. This tells me that the bathroom was not cleaned throughly because if it was, housekeeping would have noticed it right away and it would have been reported to management for further inspection. It was great that they came out to fix it but not entirely. I had to call the second time and then it was permanently fixed for the rest of the stay for six nights. The bed was extremely soft not like the Westin hotels that I remember. the entrance to the lobby had a fragrance that was so strong that we smelled almost like urine, they definitely need to change out their fragrance I recommend staying at the Sheraton hotel.

Yelp
Clean, professional, and well appointed rooms and staff greet you when you arrive. A very well managed hotel with pleasant and professional people. Though I did not get a river view, the panoramas of the city below from the 21st floor are quite amazing. Located a few city blocks from Bourbon St on a safe route, fun is but a few minutes walk away.

Yelp
Just the right distance from Bourbon Street. Easy to walk to the interesting parts of NOLA. Lovely bar with an amazing panoramic view. Parking is a bit unusual, but hey its a decent hotel right in the middle of New Orleans. Room was spacious with a nice. Checkin was a bit chaotic due to the checkin desk being about 10 floors up, which was not ideal when your passenger gets out to checkin and you sit waiting and wondering. Clean, modern and safe.

Yelp
The hotel is beautiful and the location is very nice. We had a great view from our room of the Mississippi River and the quarter. The bell man were excellent and very attentive. My main issue was with the housekeeping staff and the room service situation Room service is ordered online. I ordered a pot of coffee, 2 croissants and a side of bacon. My total was $61, which I was ok with paying for the convenience.... What I wasn't happy with was how it was delivered. Staying at a property like the Westin and spending $60 for a meal that should have been $25, I was extremely disappointed that my room service showed up in a paper bag with plastic utensils and plastic to go containers like I ordered a door dash meal. Completely unacceptable The housekeeping staff first day didn't restock our coffee pods, second day didn't leave any coffee cups, third day no extra toilet paper...The room was otherwise clean and tidy. I think the Westin can do better.

Kristopher M.

Yelp
Place is great and up to par down to the front desk staff to the bartender (Eric) and which the kitchen is under par. I gave them a 3 cause everything was okay minus when I bought a Togo Chicken Caesar salad from the bar the kitchen staff forgot to put the Caesar dressing on the very expensive salad and I tried to call down to request Caesar dressing and nobody picked up. Everyone was great besides the incompetent kitchen staff. The salad was perfect minus the Caesar salad. Kitchen staff has one job and they failed at it!

Yelp
I've never stayed at the hotel, but The lobby and bar area is amazing. There are plenty of comfy couches/chairs to sit in, all gathered around the massive windows overlooking the French Quarter and Miss River. The drinks and food are all pretty good as well. This spot is a nice, comfortable, and beautiful location when you need a break from the hustle of the French quarter. I highly recommend coming here just to hang out in the lobby!

Yelp
Mostly pros and just a few cons!! Rooms are comfy for a family of 4!! Beds had plenty of pillows and were clean! Bathroom was spacious for all of our toiletries. The lobby is beautiful and the drinks are great at the bar! Order a pizza and it will fill you up!! 4th of July fireworks show was amazing from the 11th floor lobby. Cons- No shampoo in our room, and we requested it, but they never replaced it!! Random people came in to the lobby and started crap!!

Yelp
Excellent and professional service by Daisy at the Westin New Orleans Hotel restaurant's buffet breakfast! Complimentary buffet breakfast was offered as we have platinum status as Marriott Bonvoy members. Breakfast was excellent including a full spread of healthy grilled vegetables, seafood gumbo with grits, fresh fruit platters, breakfast meats, breads and beautiful donuts. Hotel has a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and a great variety of shops! The hotel is located in a prime location, only 10 minute walk from the covention center and 1-2 minute walk from the French Quarter.

Yelp
Lobby bar has a great view. Didn't stay at the hotel but enjoyed the location connected to wonderful enclosed, high end shopping mall. Drinks were good

Yelp
Here to celebrate our 24th anniversary. Check in is on the 11th floor. They do have a restaurant but it is only open on the weekend. However, you can order food at the bar and it is pretty good. The also have a restaurant that they've partnered with that will deliver called Luke's. Had their food before at it was good. My first impression of our room was that it was very nice especially since we planned to spend 7 days here . We selected a King Lakeview room on the 26th floor. The view was just breathtaking and serene. You will hear the nearby ferry on and off all day which I loved but can be annoying to some. The king sized bed was dressed in white and super comfy and so were the pillows. I really liked the shower in the bathroom with the large shower head. It's tall (perfect for hubby) and they do have a hand held shower head which was perfect for me. Plus, they have high-end shops downstairs like Louis Vuitton, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany and Co, and more. A big plus is that the hotel is in walking distance to many of the restaurants like Acme, Dragos, and my new favorite Landreys. You can also walk to Cafe du Monde or Harrah's which is known for their casino. It's also close to the ferry just in case you want to take their fantastic New Orleans cruise at night. The location is perfect not too far from Bourbon Street, Flea Market, and in the historical French quarters. I like it because it's quiet and not noisy like the hotels on Bourbon Street. You can stroll down Canal Street where there's plenty of shopping and restaurants. They're in close walking distance to CVS's and Walgreens in just in case you forgot your toiletries or need to buy water or snacks. At the Westin we're given complimentary soft drinks at the bar on several occasions which was awesome. Thank you Westin and till next time.

Yelp
The Westin New Orleans was nice! Our room was clean and cozy. Nothing noticeably worn or out of place. The cow of the river was amazing from the 27th floor. The shower in the bathroom was so relaxing. The breakfast buffet in the mornings was good also. My biggest gripe was the parking for the hotel. There was a parking garage really close to the hotel but it's not good for trucks.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location right on the edge of the French Quarter. We were close enough to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go. Cafe Du Monde was only two blocks away and Oceana Grill was right up the street. Besides that, the hotel was gorgeous overlooking the Mississippi river and you could see the walkway and the aquarium. Due to COVID, the prices were very very reasonable too, for a Westin! It was a great stay all around!!!

Yelp
Checked in on 1/8/22 just wanted a getaway with my fiancé. The check in took about 30mins could've been shorter but our front desk representative was moving so slow like he didn't want to be there. You had to sure proof of vaccination or negative 72 hour PCR Covid test but I wasn't aware but luckily we had both. This hotel was very clean I must say. I checked the bed and made sure everything was fine so that's why the bed looks wrinkled / un made . The view was amazing !! Although we didn't get a chance to check out the amenities I know they have a fitness center , a bar area where you can unwind and relax they serve breakfast for 15$ and up. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
This hotel is very clean and has friendly staff. Use the electronic keys so you avoid the lobby and check-in process It's tricky because of parking and the multiple elevators, but easy to figure out. The bar has terrible service and dirty tables. That's all that brought the rating down. I changed this to 1 star because the bartender with the hand tattoo is full of attitude for no reason.

Yelp
Clarance at the bar deserves a raise!!!!! He gave us an amazing martini and had the best customer service!! The hotel was beautiful, clean and the front desk was very helpful.

Yelp
The observatory 11 where christina ramierez was an amazing bartender and host!! She gave us the run down on places to go to and her drinks were good to go! She made sure my friends and coworkers were taken care of and the wait time was minimal! Great host and we will definitely be back! Definitely recommend to all those who love a great atmosphere and bartender!

Yelp
I had an amazing 2 night stay at this hotel. All the staff was wonderfully pleasant and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and offered many vegetarian-friendly options. I had a one bedroom suite with river view and it was huge and tastefully decorated. The black out curtains are some of the best I've ever used. Whenever I requested something to the room delivery was swift. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. I have no complaints whatsoever. Even the bar served amazing drinks that weren't watered down. I would definitely return.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay here, while I was in New Orleans. I would like to thank Robert, Joshua and Adrian again. Robert checked us in and was very professional. Adrien and Joshua helped with Valet parking. The entire staff was helpful as well.

Yelp
Room cards will stop working randomly, leaving you locked out of your room until you go to the front desk to have a new one maid. Room service put WET "not even damp witch could be understood" sheets on our bed on TWO separate occasions. The "suite" didn't have a hair dryer or a microwave. We asked the front desk for a hair dryer 2x. Both of witch they said we would have it in the next hour. We never received one in the 4 days we stayed. The ice machine on the 18th floor was broken. My grandmother asked them if they would have it fixed on Wednesday and they said it would be done by EOD. Still broken on our way to checkout Sunday. We booked our rehearsal dinner with them. 38 ppl total. We ran out of food within 20 mins (oysters, and a po boy bar.) We had plenty of alcohol so I guess that's a good thing. We were assured they would make it right. Food in the room( chocolate covered strawberries and a fine bottle of champagne, a partial refund, multiple things that we never got. We had a small mason jar of m&m on our bed and I'm pretty sure that was left by our wedding planner not the Westin. My groomsmen got ready in my suite on wedding day and all left their bags/clothes in my suite. One of them had 400$ cash in his bag and it went missing. (Partially his fault for having that much money in an unattended bag but we are fairly positive we know exactly what happened to it) If your reservation of over 1,000$ they will put an ADDITIONAL 1,000$ charge on your account for what they will call insurance if payments. Witch will be refunded but could take up to two weeks. The general manager is never available and won't reach out once he knows you have complaints about your stay but will be your best friend when they are working out a contract for a room block or an event. As someone who works in the hospitality/service business these things at the price they ask are unacceptable. Never book at the Westin. I've had better stays at a holiday inn and a better event at my local library. Shameful what this place is getting away with.

Yelp
Great location! Just far away enough from the Bourbon street festivities but a few blocks away from Jackson Square and Cafe du Monde. Kind of a funky set up...you go up to the 11th floor, pass the reservation desk and go up to the rooms in another elevator. Great friendly staff, clean rooms, next door to Saks and shopping mall.

Yelp
We were seeking nothing but clean, away from creepy alleys, and comfort. This was THE right hotel and I felt like a baller for choosing a good hotel this time! It's frightening when you visit a new city and don't know what type of hotel you will be ending up in. The internet can be deceiving! So as we arrived by taxi from MSY for a flat rate of $36.00 (cheaper than Uber or Lyft, $56), we got confused on where to find the Lobby to check-in. It's on the 11th floor btw! Some may think it's an inconvenience but, look on the brighter side, unfortunately there are crazies on drugs in Nola and this is true because we have seen it. They won't make it pass the lobby because they have private elevators for only within the hotel. That's a wonderful safety measure! The check in was a breeze and they will charge your card for a security deposit which wasn't announced to us prior but that's okay. We aren't going to through a rage in our room, this time. (Just kidding!) Our room, 1919, was right by the elevators and had the perfect view with half river/city!!! Also, you will never wait for long to get into the elevator. We were very pleased with it all and it made our overall trip feel much more enjoyable. Imagine waking up to a sunset by the river where you can view it from your room. It's breathtaking! The room was clean, they put a plastic bag over the remote, the bathroom was very clean and equipped with extra toilet paper and tissues, the bed was very comfortable, and the couch was so cute! I also have to thank the gentleman who noticed a crazy take the elevator to the lobby, as we entered the elevator the crazy guy walked back into the elevator, and the tall gentleman who works at the desk joined us to make sure we were safe. That was just AMAZING! Afterwards, on that rainy day I asked if they had umbrellas and he brought two down for us! Parking: $33 plus tax to self park. Check with the prices for Canal Place which I think is a bit cheaper and has an elevator connecting to the hotel lobby. But, all parking is so expensive in the area. I passed a hotel that asked for $48. Wow! We flew and didn't rent a vehicle this time. You're better off walking, using the streetcars, or Lyft. To improve my stay in the future, I'd hope to see our mini fridge not freeze our food or drinks(my soda cans exploded, sadly), and a solution to their slamming doors (you will hear yours and everyone else's doors slam). Not that the other hotels weren't great options as well but, we were extremely happy with our choice with The Westin. You are between the strip of Canal St. and the direction towards French market, quarter, and more within .5 miles. This is perfectly walkable and not too far to go back and take a mid-day nap.

Yelp
Loved staying here! My and my bf were so comfortable sleeping here and also the showers everything is really modern with the led mirror it's super nice. The only reason I took 1 star is because you can literally hear what the next door guests are doing since your door connects with theirs. I wish they would've made it more private so we don't have to hear what the next room is doing. But other than that I recommend this place! Your can go to the mall that's in the same building which is really nice. We will def be staying here again. Very clean and up kept.

Yelp
Great place that is really located in the heart of a lot we like. Close to the casino and the outlet as well as our favorite street Decatur for all the restaurants. The views of the river are spectacular at night and as the day light changes. The circular bar has a great selection for all tastes. It is pricy but with the view and the jazz band in the happy hour it is a fun place to watch the night come alive. Pay extra to get the River view. I have one issue and it is the pillows. Marriott always had feather pillows and great mattresses. In the last year I have only found weak non supportive foam and I have stayed at 5 different types of properties from courtyards to Westin including Fairfield's and residence inn. Across the board the pillows now suck

Yelp
Stayed here in early September for a conference. The hotel was pretty nice, great location that is close to everything in NOLA, and had good friendly service. A few small things could have made the rooms better - a refrigerator that does not freeze everything, and an upgraded coffee machine/coffee. In particular, I want to compliment the concierge (didn't get the gentleman's name unfortunately). We was super knowledgeable and friendly, gave us some great authentic restaurant suggestions, and complimentary tickets to the new Vue Orleans exhibit that was a great respite from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter.

Yelp
Westin is a top of the line hotel chain. Once I got my travel agent card back in 01, I used my discount here several times over the years.... and I mean deep discount. Dang, I miss that card! The views are out of this world! Located off Canal at the Mississippi river above the Canal Place shopping mall. Parking is in the lot next door, not a garage. I'm sure there was valet but we're frugal. One of our visits, we were upgraded to a two room suite but the suite didn't have a view. It was on the backside of the hotel and if you did look out the window, you saw the A/Cs. Oh well. It still was an amazing suite. It's a little bit of a walk to Jackson Square and the heart of Bourbon but it's really not a big deal. It's nice being away from the stink of the quarter. I've stayed at several hotels around NOLA... and Westin is a great one if you are looking for a big name brand with the best view of the river.

Yelp
Rarely do you start a review of a hotel with kudos to the bartender, but this is New Orleans. And well. You know. Tahira (everyone calls her T) also to Jinky our breakfast morning server, incredible, professional and very warming approach, is worth leading the review. We arrived late, after the kitchen closed. She gave us great recommendations for what was open in the neighborhood. On the second night, we didn't need her concierge skills, but her bar tending skills did. Armed with nothing but a few preferences, she concocted not one but two drinks that were spot on with our taste. 'T' is the bomb and well worth getting to know. As for the hotel. Location, location, location. It is so close to everything you want to see in the French Quarter. Great views of the Mississippi or the city. There's a great riverfront park within steps. This hotel in need of a renovation, and some TLC, but overall, we loved it. They were renovating while we were there. A little disappointed they didn't mention construction on their website. We had drilling overhead during daylight hours. Service is okay. Nothing over the top. At times, we wanted a little more, but nothing that would be considered rude or bad. Everyone was friendly though. The room was comfortable. Housekeeping was spot on. The lobby is in the 11th floor, so you need to elevators to get to your room. Not especially problematic. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Where to start? We booked a king suite room. Around 500 a night, I thought I would splurge a little and go here or the Ritz. We just finished an adoption and are driving back to Texas. I figured everything would be great. Drive up to the hotel, I don't see valet just 3-4 bellhops outside hanging out, literally no big deal. I'll park my car in the parking lot across the street that says hotel and public parking right? NO. I go in to check in and they tell me to get my license plate number so I can get free parking. I go get that (all within about 20min) and there are two boots on my vehicle. They inform me that the lot across the street is not theirs, only the garage is. So I get scammed out of 135 bucks to get the boots off and they can't help. Then we get to our room and the living room TV is broken. At this point I have a newborn sleeping in the other room and I can't have someone come to check it out at night. Overall the experience starts with a S and ends with hit. I would have been better off in a holiday inn at this point.

Yelp
It was great working with Byron Cerre and the team at the Westin. He's a great problem-solver.

Yelp
From the moment we arrived at The Westin New Orleans, we received great service. We arrived hours early. The courteous and personable bellman took our luggage and let us know he'd take it to our room when it was ready. We checked in at the front desk expecting to wait hours for a room. We were greeted with a smile and told our room (with a river view) was immediately available. When we arrived to our room, our luggage was already there. The room was spacious and well appointed. The view was perfect for viewing cargo and cruise ships navigate the Mississippi which we love to do in solitude after a long day out and about. But if solitude is not your preference, the spacious lobby bar has sprawling river views and there's entertainment several nights a week. Those are the good. However, they are not the reason we ONLY stay at The Westin New Orleans when we are in NOLA. We stay at the Westin because they have THE BEST concierge we've every had the pleasure/ honor of meeting: Mr. John Fitzpatrick. My husband and I have experienced excellent customer service during our stays at both large chain and boutique hotels. These hotels span various parts of the US and the Caribbean (incl Aruba, New York, Denver, San Diego, Hawaii). But John's treatment goes beyond excellence. He does not make you feel like you're an obligation or just a part of his job. You feel like he is genuinely happy to see you. He's like that favorite family member who not only makes sure you're comfortable in his home, but also makes sure you have the best time in his city. The staff is courteous, the hotel is lovely, and the river view is excellent. But the most consistent and BEST part of our stay at The Westin New Orleans is John Fitzpatrick. He treats us like family and like royalty all at the same time.

Yelp
Loved the view. The staff are very nice and clean. We had breakfast here it was okay, nothing fancy. Close to lake and bars. I really enjoyed my time here.
