The Best MICHELIN Guide Hotels in Istanbul

"For many travelers the historic district of Beyoğlu is the very heart of Istanbul; it’s among the most picturesque and richly varied parts of town, and is home to more than a few of the city’s finest hotels. To that number you can add the Westist, as purely design-focused a boutique hotel as this city has seen in a long time." - MICHELIN Guide

I'd like to share my honest opinion about this hotel. First off: our travel dates were December 1st to 8th, 2025, so not peak season. We paid around €700 for this period, which I think is quite a lot. I relied heavily on the reviews from Booking.com and Google Maps. However, I can't agree with any of them. We had a standard room with a double bed. First, what we liked: The hotel's location is really excellent. You go outside, turn left, and you're right on the shopping arcade and very close to Taksim Square. The hotel staff was very friendly, and they even gave us a different room after we complained. The bed was quite good and comfortable. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Now for the negatives: The clientele staying there is extremely inconsiderate. Anyone looking for peace and quiet will be disappointed. Until 3 a.m., doors were slammed and loud shouts were heard down the hallway. Since the doors close automatically, it's understandable that it can be a bit noisy, but I don't understand why people can't be more considerate. The rooms are very poorly soundproofed. You can hear absolutely everything. Unfortunately, the windows aren't soundproofed at all, so you can hear the pigeons coughing. Cleaning the rooms starts promptly at 8 a.m. I understand that everyone has to do their job, but 8 a.m. is really tough. Especially when you can't sleep until 4 a.m. because people are extremely loud. The hallway door is the final straw, by the way, when it slams shut. The hygiene in the shower wasn't the best either. I think for the price we paid, you can expect at least a little bit. The water in the shower kept cutting out. I think that was because we were on the fourth floor. The entire shower fixture really needs replacing. All in all, we were very dissatisfied. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel.

From the moment we arrived, The Westist Hotel & Spa felt like much more than just a place to stay. Tucked away in a quiet side street of Beyoğlu, only steps from Istiklal Avenue, it manages to combine a calm, boutique atmosphere with immediate access to the vibrant life of Istanbul.||||Location and Surroundings||||The location could not be better. Just a short walk from Istiklal Street, Galata, and plenty of cafés, bars, and restaurants, yet the hotel itself remains peaceful and quiet at night. Many reviews highlight this balance, and we completely agree: it’s the perfect base to explore the city without sacrificing rest.||||Rooms and Style||||The design is modern, minimal, and elegant, with a cozy and clean atmosphere throughout. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are well kept, and housekeeping does a great job maintaining them. Some travelers mention that the economy rooms are on the smaller side, which is true, but we received a complimentary upgrade to their biggest room upon arrival. For a city trip where you spend most of the time exploring, it is more than sufficient.||||Service and Staff||||Above all, what truly sets The Westist apart is the service. The staff are consistently described as attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. During our stay, Sinem and Mustafa stood out with their warmth and professionalism, making us feel taken care of at every step. Their personal attention elevated the entire experience and made us feel at home. Exchanging via WhatsApp with them helped a lot. ||||Overall Experience||||This is not just a hotel, but a boutique retreat in the middle of a bustling city. Between the excellent location, stylish design, and outstanding team, The Westist delivers a five-star experience that feels both authentic and personal. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Istanbul, and we look forward to returning.

Must put up with many inconveniences: - hot water only lasts 5 minutes, must wait 5 minutes to get it again - broken thermostat keeps the room at 75-80°F (24-27°C) regardless of setting so we had to keep the windows open - located in a super loud area, especially at night with windows open - drain clogs and pools up water after every shower - elevator repair requires you taking stairs - toilet did not flush but was fixed - mix up with other rooms’ key card access Can be worth it if you can negotiate a decent cash price and are willing to put up with the annoyances. Listed as 3-star hotel, but it’s actually 2-star by Western (EU and USA) standards

The hotel is nice enough overall, but the photos don’t quite reflect the reality of the rooms. Our shower had no door, so water went everywhere, and the rooms were extremely dark with no windows that opened for fresh air—only air conditioning. During our stay (through no fault of the hotel), there was no running water for the entire morning. When I asked about it, the staff initially weren’t aware it was a wider area issue until I mentioned it, after which they promptly contacted the local authority to confirm. Also, surprisingly, there was no wardrobe in the room—I’ve never stayed in a hotel without one. On the positive side, the staff were very kind, professional, and helpful throughout our stay.

Absolutely wonderful stay, we were more than looked after, we felt at home and were treated like family, in the best possible way, I can’t recommend this hotel more! Location is excellent, the restaurant next door is wonderful, we used the sauna and had many incredible massages, the spa team are also incredible and you can enjoy every day without a worry. Our room was perfect, massive bed and extremely comfortable.

Great boutique hotel in the heart of Beyoğlu. Stylish, clean, and very calm despite being steps from Istiklal. Sinem and Mustafa went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Istanbul.

I am happy to give this hotel the 5 star review it deserves. Great location, everything is close, the hotel is in an alley next to the main street, so you are in the center but have some peace. A lot of transport options too. The rooms were spacious enough, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly, gave a lot of advice about Istanbul and answered all our questions. There is also a spa in the hotel if you want to treat yourself, there is a discount for guests of the hotel. Ofcourse not everything is perfect and there is stuff to nitpick, but everything else overshadows that. We spent 7 nights here and couldn't be happier with our choice.

Would highly recommend staying here if you are coming to Istanbul. Location was excellent, right next to the Main Street of the area but still remained quiet. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were one of the most accommodating group we’ve ever experienced. Room was very nice and modern, everything worked perfect. Their spa area felt like an actual premium spa experience , very zen feeling and super clean. The sauna was probably the best I’ve ever used and the staff there were also super friendly and were always attending to our needs. The hotels restaurant was the best and freshest tasting food we had throughout our 4 day stay in Istanbul, the restaurant manager was also super friendly and made an effort to connect with us personally each time we saw him coming out the hotel. The front desk staff also greeted us by our first names each time we entered and exited and always asked we needed anything. If you are coming to Istanbul definitely stay here especially at its price point.
